Everything you thought was important in life got put on the back burner. An alert coming through that a missile was striking downtown l.a in an hour.

The whole city had been in a panic, everyone thought they were going to die, including you. But nonetheless you were a police officer on duty, putting yourself in harms way to try and evacuate everyone safely.

You and Tim had gotten a call from a report that someone was using counterfeit bills at a small convenience store, of course you just had to respond to that today.

Upon pulling up to the call, you texted your parents quickly telling them you loved them and not to worry.

The missile wouldn't strike, it was all fake right? It had to be fake. You kept telling yourself and trying to stay calm.

Tim had reassured you many times that it wouldn't strike and that everything would be fine, but deep down you knew as the time reached closer to the explosion, you both were scared to death.

"and why the hell is it like a nightmare out there, I'll never be able to make it home with this traffic!" the store owner asked once you finished up your report.

Looking down at your watch, you'd spent the past thirty-five minutes trying to get here and then following up with a report. A report that wouldn't mean shit if everyone in l.a died in twenty five minutes.

"didn't you get the alert on your phone? A radio? Tv?" Tim questioned.

"No what alert? I was busy restocking these shelves" the man was confused.

"Um sir, there's an emergency alert. A missile is supposed to hit the heart of l.a in approximately twenty five minutes and ten seconds" you anxiously said and started chewing the inside of your cheek.

Tim knew you were worried and so was he, but he tried his best to hold it together for your sake.

"Are you fucking kidding me. A missile! Twenty minutes! Screw the store, I gotta get the hell out of here" the man shouted and started panicking. Rummaging behind the counter for his bags.

"Sir" you interrupted, but it was no help. Like everyone in the city, he bolted.

You looked around at the empty store and filled shelves, overhearing loud honking out on the street and people screaming.

This is life or death

"Well, there's no sense for us to try and make it out of here. We would never make it through with all the traffic, it's gridlocked. I guess it's just me and you till the end of time" he pleaded.

His words took you by surprise, till the end of time. Your heart was racing out of your chest trying to calm down. Thankfully, if you were stuck with anyone, you were glad it was Tim.

"yea, let's lock the doors and find somewheres out back to wait it out" you suggested in a flat tone.

Locking the doors, Tim noticed a glass case filled with different types of vodka, rum, and whiskeys for sale.

"Hey y/n look at this. If we're going out, we might as well have something to take the edge off hey?" he tried to lighten your anxious mood with a thoughtful smile.

"grab me the vodka, I'm not much of a whiskey girl" you replied.

You clink the large 1 litre bottles together and took your first sip. Bitter as hell which made your lips curl, but who cares if it was your last ten minutes on earth.

"Damn, even with a chaser of 'blazzin blueberry'-" you read the label of a random drink you'd pulled from the shelf "-it's still pretty strong"

"I should've taken a picture of your face, it was like-" Tim laughed and imitated the look you made.

You got lost in the words Tim had spoke. A deep thoughtful stare at him, all your feelings pouring to the surface, swallowing the lump down. You didn't care about anything else but how much you really cared for him.

"Tim, how about we spill some secrets since it's our last few minutes together. You know? No one else would ever find out, just us" you suggested. Both of you sat facing each other on the cold floor in the back of the store.

Spilling secrets minutes before a missile strikes sounded like the dumbest thing to do, but Tim knew it would take your mind off of everything, so he went along with it.

"Just us? yea, you go first" he motioned his whiskey bottle towards you "what secrets do you have"

"Um... okay. One time when I was sixteen I lied to my mom and told her I was going to my friends but I actually went to a party. She thought that the pillow I put under my bedsheet was me and totally bought it" you shared with a smile. Suddenly the way Tim was looking at you made your feelings amplify.

"Wow, that's impressive. Let's see, when you asked me if I had seen your cuffs, I actually took them and kept hiding them around the shop. Until I seen you get fed up enough and let you keep them" he laughed watching your mouth drop open.

"Tim what the hell" you teased and smacked him on the shoulder.

"It's the end of the world isn't it? I'm allowed to share my secrets you said!" he joked.

You both took a breath, admiring how lucky you got to be paired together on such a tough day. You anchored Tim down and kept his head on straight. Just one look from you had meant everything would be okay, even if it was just for a brief period of time.

"Seven minutes" you blurted looking down at your watch.

With that, Tim's hand reached out in front of you to cheers another time. Chugging a generous amount of vodka, and so did he.

"Can I admit something" you croaked. Your body was alive with nerves and panic.

"the floor is yours" he added waiting for you to continue.

"Since we're gonna all explode into a million pieces in a few minutes, I just wanted to say that I'm so glad I had you as a mentor. You've shown me the ways to become an amazing police officer but you've also gone out of your way to help me many times. For that, I will forever be greatful" you finished and grinned at him.

"Y/n, it was my pleasure. Having you as a pain in my ass for the past eight months has been nothing but... a rollercoaster, but one I would gladly do over and over again" he confessed.

The room got stuffy and uncomfortable as you both aired out your feelings. Except the one that had you both bursting at the seams. Taking another sip of liquid courage, your time dwindled away.

"Tim, I have to say something else, before it's too late" you announced. Feeling a slight buzz from the liquor.

He tilted his head to the side and inched closer to you.

"I have feelings for you and I would hate to die knowing that I never got the chance to tell you. You're the man I think about when I wake up, when I fall asleep, when I do literally anything. I can't get you off of my mind" your voice was shaky and just like that a weight lifted off your shoulders.

"y/n" Tim exulted with a caring smile "first off I want to say thank you for telling me. I've felt the same for a long time. I guess I kept trying to push the feelings aside because I'm supposed to be your mentor. Falling in love with you wasn't my plan" he admitted, looking anywheres but your face. You could tell he was just as nervous as you were.

You searched Tim's eyes while he did the same to you. The tension between you was palpable and heavy.

"Come here" Tim reached his hand out for you to grab. With four minutes left on the clock, your heart pounding, mind racing between life and death. You eagerly gripped his fingers, pulling you to sit on his lap.

Tim's hands wrapped around your thighs, like he was holding onto you for dear life, sensing your slight trembling on top of him.

You leaned your head against his chest, moving a hand to press against his chest. His heartbeat drumming in your ear was peaceful against the aching silence.

"It's gonna be okay" Tim kept repeating softly in your ear.

"Tim" you turned your head to angle up towards his face. Sliding against his lap to meet your faces together.

"Y/n" he mumbled. His lips so close that you could smell the spearmint gum off his breath.

"Kiss me" you begged.

With slight hesitation, his lips met yours with an intensity that felt almost primal. A hungry, desperate mix of raw emotion. You gripped the back of his hair rough, slowly grinding against his thick erection.

Sirens were echoing in the distance as you heard people on the streets screaming and shouting in desperation.

Tim parted his lips and swirled his tongue over yours before biting against your bottom lip, sucking it between his teeth.

"all I need is you" Tim hummed between kissing you. His hands making their way to your hips once you positioned yourself on your knees.

Many emotions bubbled in your chest, threatening to spill out as you rocked your hips against him. He watched, panting in rhythm with you.

"Tim... one minute" you confided.

His hands moved to rub against your back. Being with him, on top of him, was an escape, one that you desperately needed.

"I know baby, just look at me okay?" he tilted your chin till your glossy eyes were forced to meet with his "it's just you and me right now okay? Whatever happens, it's just us against the world" he kissed lightly against your neck.

How could you go out of this world knowing Tim never knew how you felt?

Your phones both chimed loud with an alert, loud enough to break the intimate moment between the two of you. Scrambling to retrieve your phone from your pocket another alert chimed through.

It was a  false ballistic missile alert.

The loudest and deepest sigh left your lips, grabbing the back of Tim's neck with tears clouding your vision, you kissed him deeply. A sense of relief filled your body.

"Well, looks like you confessed your one secret to me and now I'm going to live to see it thrive. Now I get the chance to properly fuck you" he smirked.
