14. Trust

It was a fine and sunny day at FTail Colleges. Mira is in the guild serving foods and drinks to her guild mates. She is also handing out some jobs to the others. It was her usual day. She is wiping some tables when she saw the couples Natsy and Lucy together with their blue cat happy. They were as usual as always; Natsu enters the guild with a toothy grin looking for a fight and Lucy sweat drop with her boyfriend’s antics. Mira smiled at the sight of this. It was a usual day after all. Then, Juvia and Gray soon entered the guild. Mira saw the couple and she sensed something.

‘Juvia and Gray seem odd today’ Mira thought to herself. Then, she was shock when the two of them weren’t in the same table. They were always seen in the guild together since the day they started their relationship but not today. Then, Mira went over to Juvia.

“Is something wrong, Juvia?” Mira asked as she looked at Juvia. Juvia didn’t say anything. She was looking on someone’s direction. Mira looked as well and she saw Gray fighting with Natsu then joined by some men in their guild.

“Did you two fight?” she asked again and once again, she got no reply to her friend. Then, Juvia puts her hands to her face and she starts crying. The fighting stops, the noise is gone and they were all looking at the blue-haired woman. Then, the men looks at Gray with confuse looks in their face. Gray just ignored the men and he sat on the other table. He ordered some drinks to Kinana.

“Hey Gray, Juvia’s crying. Aren’t you going to her?” Lucy said as she went over to Gray.

“Yeah, droopy eyes.” Natsu joined the conversation.

“Be a man” Elfman yelled.

Gray didn’t say anything. He was disappointed with Juvia’s attitude today. He doesn’t want to say something.

“OY, DROOPY EYES! GO TO YOUR GIRLFRIEND YOU BASTARD!” Natsu yelled.

“Wanna fight?” Gray replied with anger. Gray sighed then drank his drink as he remembered what happened earlier.

Earlier…

Gray was waiting for Juvia in her class as usual. Like the usual, Gray’s class was dismissed earlier than he had expected. Gray decided to wait for Juvia so they can both go to the guild to look for another job request and small errands. Fifteen minutes later, while Gray was standing in the hallway near Juvia’s room, he was approached by someone.

“Hi!” A woman’s voice greeted.

“Oh hi there Angel.” He looked at the white short-haired woman with a seductive eyes and she wore a very expose clothing.

“So, why are you here, Gray?” She asked with a seductive voice. Angel is his classmate; he was usually approach by this girl when Loke was with him and today she approach Gray alone.

“I’m waiting for Juvia” He quickly said.

“Juvia?  Your girlfriend?”

“Yeah.”

“Okay then.” She said as she went to her way. Then suddenly, she ‘accidentally’ tripped (a hidden smirk hides in her face) and Gray grabbed her wrist to prevent her from falling on the floor.

“Be careful.” Gray said.

*slap*

Before Angel finished her sentence, she felt pain in her cheeks. She just realized then that she was slapped by someone.

“JUVIA!” shouted Gray as they got the attention of everyone in the hallway. Then Juvia walked out.

“Are you alright? I’m sorry for what Juvia did to you. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow.” Gray said and he dashed to Juvia.

 

“Hey Juvia!” Gray shouted and Juvia stopped walking. “What was that?” he asked.

“WHAT WAS THAT, JUVIA? WHY DID YOU SLAP ANGEL?” Gray shouted at Juvia’s back.

“So the name was Angel, huh?” she said in a monotone voice.

“Yeah and why did you slap her? And look at me while I’m talking to you.” Then Juvia turned around. She didn’t answer Gray’s question which made him annoyed. “Answer me, Juvia. I know there’s a reason why you did that?”

“J—Juvia thinks she’s not pretty and she isn’t enough to Gray-sama.” She sobbed as she tries to explain.

“Stop, Juvia!” Gray said pissed off. “I’m tired of these insecurities of yours, what the hell is wrong with you?”

“But Juvia saw Gray-sama and that girl was trying to hook up Gray-sama. Juvia would not—

“Stop, Juvia. You hurt someone. We are not talking about this. Let’s just go to the guild to do work.” He said with his cold voice and Juvia just followed Gray. She wiped her tears along the way.

Back to the present…

Gray stands up and challenges Natsu again. Natsu grinned and the two of them fight. Lucy just sighed in the scene. Lucy went over to Juvia to check on her friend. Juvia was still crying and the girls were there, except for Erza who has a date with Jellal (lucky for Gray), to comfort Juvia. Then, when Juvia calmed down a bit, she told the reason why is she crying. There were different reactions on the girls face. 

“--then why didn’t you just tell Gray that Angel was trying to hit on him?”

“Juvia tried but—

She started to cry again. “Juvia loves Gray-sama and any girl who tries to flirt Gray-sama will be punished by Juvia” she started crying again and some girls sweat drop. “Juvia had been left once, she doesn’t want to be left again” then the girls sympathize Juvia. “Juvia always tries to look best for Gray-sama. Juvia loves Gray-sama so she wouldn’t be left by him. Juvia will do anything for Gray-sama. Juvia understands that Gray-sama is handsome and girls were drooling over him. Gray-sama also had friends who were girls but in Juvia’s instinct that Angel is definitely flirting Gray-sama. Those eyes, those expose dress, Juvia isn’t wrong. Gray-sama is so dense when it becomes to woman who flirts Gray-sama.” She cried again.

“Juvia” Juvia stopped crying as she heard Gray’s voice. Gray gave a look to the girls signaling them to give them privacy.

“Juvia, Angel is my classmate.” He started explaining. “And it just happened that she saw me in the hallway—

“And it just happened that Angel tripped with a smirk and evil eyes on face.”

“I just helped her. That’s our guild’s motto, right?”

“Juvia knows but Juvia is not wrong too. She has reasons.”

“But Juvia, you don’t have to slap her. You just have to tell me.”

“Juvia can’t stand it.”

“Juvia, you’ve hurt someone.”

“She deserves it.”

Although Gray said to give the two of them some privacy, Mira, Lucy and Levy ignored him. They were eavesdropping at the two.

“Hey, is Juvia being—

Lucy was cut off by Levy and Mira’s hush.

“Juvia is putting her instinct to justice.” Levy said in a low voice.

“I think Juvia is too stubborn. Is she taking too much pride?” Lucy said worriedly.

“Yeah but if Juvia trusts her instinct then she might be right. Girl’s instincts never go wrong, isn’t it?” Mira said smiling.

 “But Gray doesn’t get it. Boys don’t get it.” Levy protested.

Then the three girls were surprised when Gray stands up and do his work. He seemed annoyed and irritated as he does his work. Juvia, on the other hand, stands up as well and leave the guild. She said goodbye to the people in the guild and also to those three girls. The girls were confused because they didn’t follow the couple’s conversation.

“My my, I think they didn’t settle their issue” Mira said as she head back to her work. They all sighed.

Gray didn’t bother to speak about their fight. He just did his work quietly. He was still mad at Juvia’s behavior. He didn’t think Juvia would go that far hurting someone. He didn’t think she was too possessive. Damn, but he loves the woman, he loves Juvia. ‘Am I possessive with her too? Why did I yell at her like that? She must have been hurt. What if she’s right? What if that girl is flirting with me?’ he thought. And he finished his work the entire afternoon, worrying and cursing about their fight.

Gray went to their dorm. He entered and knocked at Juvia’s door.

“Juvia,” he said.

“Juvia made dinner for Gray-sama. Juvia just wanted to sleep tonight, good night.” She said not even bothering to open the door for Gray. Gray sighed. ‘Maybe I should give her space’ he thought. Then, he head towards the kitchen and ate the dinner Juvia has made for him.

“This taste great, Juvia.” He said sadly. He never thought that their fight will last like this. Their usual fight only last for hours or hell for a minute. He didn’t expect it to be like this, that it will come to the point that Juvia would not join him for dinner or Juvia would not sleep this early. He doesn’t understand girls especially Juvia.

“Damn it.” Gray cursed as he washed his plate.

Before Gray went over to his room, he knocked on Juvia’s door.

“Juvia, are you still awake?” He said but she didn’t answer.

‘Maybe she was asleep’ he thought but Gray was curious and worried at the same time. So he opened the door quietly and he saw Juvia’s sleeping form. On her bed were lots of used tissues, evidence that she had been crying. Gray felt a pang of guilt. Again, he made her cry. He promised her to never let her cry again but what is he doing. He went to Juvia to cover the sheets in her body and kissed her forehead.

“I’m sorry Juvia. I love you” He said sadly and he went over to his room and sleep.
