Chapter Fourteen - Broken Hearts

12:06, 21 September 2019

Jay looked down at his phone to see a message from Nya.

"Who's that?" Cole asked out of curiosity.

"Probably his girlfriend." Lloyd joked.

"Oooooh." The boys whistled.

"She's not my girlfriend." Jay stated, till looking at his phone.

"What do you mean?" Zane frowned.

"Haha very funny, Jay." Cole rolled his eyes.

"No I'm being serious." Jay looked up, a worried look on his face.

"What happened?" Lloyd wondered.

"Nya broke up with me."

Nya entered the shop, followed by Skylor.

"I HATE YOU!" Nya shouted at her brother as she spotted him.

"What did I do this time?" Kai asked, leaning on the counter.

"YOU MADE ME BREAK UP WITH HIM!" Nya shouted.

"Oh I'm so sorry to hear that, sis." Kai said sarcastically.

"HE'S ALREADY HEARTBROKEN WITH THE DEATH OF HIS FATHER! HE NEEDS ME! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!" Nya yelled.

Kai looked at Skylor.

"I didn't do anything, okay? I'd never be that harsh." Kai stated.

"YOU WERE THE ONE WHO TOLD ME T--" Nya began.

"It was me! Don't blame your brother for that." Skylor spoke up.

"Can I just say... that was the best idea you've ever had." Kai smiled.

"Aw thanks, Kai." Skylor returned the smile.

"Seriously?! Again... YOU BETRAYED ME!! ARGH! I HATE YOU!!" Nya shouted. "WHY CAN'T YOU JUST STAY OUT OF MY LIFE?!" She ran upstairs and slammed her bedroom door.

Skylor sighed. "Maybe she's right..."

"No sympathy, Sky! NO SYMPATHY!" Kai reminded her. She took a deep breath and looked at him.

"I'm sure she's old enough for a boyfriend by now. I mean, what age where you when we started dating?" Skylor asked.

"Much older."

"By a few months, maybe. Surely it's time for her to make her own choices now." She suggested.

"Absolutely not!" Kai exclaimed.

"If you say so..."

"Over text?! What kind of girl dumps someone over a text?!" Lloyd exclaimed.

"A MONSTER, THATS WHO." Cole sounded angry.

"Don't worry about it guys." Jay sighed.

"How can we not worry about it?! SHE DUMPED YOU OVER TEXT." Cole said.

"Shush! I don't want the whole world knowing." Jay told him.

"I AM GOING TO MARCH DOWN TO HER HOUSE AND PUNCH HER RIGHT IN THE FACE BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THAT LITTLE PIECE OF C**P DESERVES." Cole shouted.

"COLE!" Jay shouted.

"IT. IS. WHAT. SHE. DESERVES." Cole continued.

"Please stop, people are starting to stare." Jay whispered.

"I have been waiting forever to do it. You cannot stop me now!" Cole got up from the table.

Zane turned to him. "Cole, we still have lessons."

Cole paused. "Right." He sat back down

After school, Cole marched down the street from the school. He was adamant that he was going to give Nya exactly what she deserved. Cole always cared about his best friend and if this was going to put things straight, by heck he'd do it! Plus, Cole has always been the sort of person that wouldn't mind a good fight here and there.

Jay stopped him by grabbed his arm and pulling him back.

"You have to promise me that you aren't going to Nya's house." Jay said.

"Why would I do that?" Cole lied.

Jay glared at him slightly. "Are you sure?"

Cole nodded.

"Okay... see you tomorrow I guess." Jay began to walk off in the other direction.

Cole huffed and stomped off to the bus stop to catch the bus to... you know where.

Around half an hour later, Cole arrived just down the road from the blacksmiths shop, where Nya lived with her brother. He took a deep breath and sprinted up the path. When he reached the entrance, he wandered inside pretending that he was a customer.

The first thing he spotted was a boy at the counter with dark brown hair.

"Hello." He stated.

"Hi." Cole replied.

"How may I help you today?" He asked.

"I'm looking for someone. Her name is Nya." Cole told him.

"I'm sorry, she can't come out to play right now." He replied sarcastically.

"And you are...?" Cole frowned.

"Kai, her brother."

"Ah right, the jerk." Cole glared.

"What do you want with her?" Kai asked.

"I just want a friendly talk with her. It's about... a project." Cole said.

"Sorry. No projects. She's busy."

"It's important." Cole pleaded.

Kai huffed. "Fine. She's upstairs in her bedroom. First door to the left at the top of the stairs."

"K. Thanks." Cole headed over to the stairs.

Kai rolled his eyes and returned to staring at his phone that was in his hands when Cole walked in.

Cole reached Nya's bedroom door and knocked roughly.

"I TOLD YOU TO GO AWAY!" Someone shouted from the inside.

Cole rolled his eyes.

"Come out here right now." Cole spoke angrily.

Nya opened the door, a frown upon her face. "Cole?"

"Let me guess... didn't expect to see me here?" He raised an eyebrow. "I'm here to put things right."

"Put things right? What are you talking about?" She frowned.

"Over text? Really?" Cole crossed his arms.

Nya grabbed his wrist and pulled him into the room, closing the door behind.

"It wasn't me!" She exclaimed.

"What do you mean it wasn't you?! It was clearly you!" Cole shouted.

"It was Skylor! She took my phone off of me!" Nya replied.

"Skylor? Why would she do that?" He frowned.

"Because I made a promise to my brother that I would take care of the shop whilst he was gone." She began.

"Doesn't look gone to me." He muttered.

"That's only because Skylor told him that Jay and I kissed and I left to go to the hospital when I was supposed to be working with her." Nya explained. "I broke my promise and my brother got mad. Skylor made me break up with him."

"That son of a--" Cole grew angry.

"Cole, promise me you won't hurt anyone!" Nya cut in.

"Great! Another promise I can't keep." Cole joked.

"Seriously."

"Fine."

"Please tell Jay everything. I didn't want to hurt him." She told him.

Cole nodded. "Can I punch your brother when I head back downstairs?"

"Absolutely!" She smiled.

Cole ran downstairs, followed by Nya, who sat down on the third step up. Cole wondered up to the counter and stopped in front of Kai.

"Hey bro." Cole smirked.

"What do you want?" Kai rolled his eyes.

Cole raised his hand and punched Kai right across the cheek, sending him to the floor. Nya burst out into laughter.

"See you at school tomorrow Nya!" Cole called out as he exited the shop.

"Say hi to Jay for me!" She said back and waved.

Kai slowly got up, holding his cheek and looked over at his sister.

"Upstairs NOW!" He shouted. Nya jumped slightly and ran up the stairs, slamming her bedroom door. Kai could still hear her laughing.
