Chapter Ten - Want to kiss ya

12:02, 21 September 2019

I thought she'd changed. I thought she'd finally listen but I was wrong. So very wrong...

Jay marched down the road with anger in his veins.

I thought she'd be nicer. I actually hoped that she maybe liked me back but I was wrong. Really wrong...

From the bushes were a pear of beady red eyes. They were narrowed as Jay wandered on by. He stopped and turned his head to the right a little. The creature in the bush froze, pretending not to be there but it was obvious that Jay had already spotted him.

"Hello?" Jay frowned, stepping a little closer.

The creature narrowed its eyes ever further.

"What is he doing?" Skylor frowned as she spotted Jay looking and talking to a bush down the road. Nya raised her head once again.

"What?" She asked.

"Look." Skylor pointed at Jay.

"Who are you?" Jay asked.

The creature quickly jumped out of the bush. It had bright red eyes, blue scaly skin and a long tail.

"A snake?! A large snake?!" Jay stepped back, alarmed.

"Something is there." Skylor narrowed her eyes to get a closer look.

"He's in danger." Nya muttered as she stood up from the chair at the counter, her eyes wide.

"What do you want with me?" Jay shuddered. He took a few steps back but the snake kept coming for him.

"I want revenge." It hissed.

"Revenge? What have I done?" Jay frowned.

"Not you. Your mother." It replied.

"My mother? Whatever she did, it has nothing to do with me. I don't even know her. Look, if you're looking for her, I don't know where she is. She left Ninjago years ago."  Jay told it.

"LIES!" The snake kicked Jay to the ground.

Nya gasped.

"Did that giant snake just kick him?!" Skylor exclaimed.

"I have to do something." Nya told herself.

"Ow! What was that for?!" Jay shouted.

"I know you know where she is!" It said.

"I'm telling the truth. I don't know where she is!" Jay argued.

"LIES!" It shouted in his face and kicked him in the stomach.

"OW!" Jay screamed in pain.

"NOW TELL ME THE TRUTH YOU STUPID, USELESS BOY!" It shouted.

"I'm not lying!" Jay yelled back.

"STOP LYING TO ME!" It continued to kick him whilst he was lead on the freshly cut green grass.

"I'M NOT LYING!" Jay cried.

"YOU ARE LYING TO ME AGAIN!! YOU WILL SUFFER!!!" He shouted before his shoe fell off.

Jay was still on the ground, crying in pain.

"S**T! My shoe fell off!!!" It exclaimed and turned around to pick up it's shoe.

(What?! I'm actually so confused. Snakes don't wear shoes which makes it more confusing so... XD)

Suddenly, the snake fell to the floor with a kick; it was knocked unconscious. Jay gasped.

"Nya?!" Jay exclaimed, drying his tears.

She was stood between Jay and the snake in fighting stance, huffing in anger. She sighed and turned to Jay. She helped him up.

"T-thanks." He told her.

"What happened?" She asked.

"I don't know. He was looking for my mother so I'm guessing that she had done something in the past." Jay replied.

"Ah, okay." Nya nodded.

There was an awkward silence...

"Look, Nya, I'm sorry for my random outburst back there. I guess I was just a little frustrated that I could have been with my father this whole time and I--" Jay rubbed the side of his neck awkwardly.

"No, I'm sorry. I should have treated you with more respect. I guess I never really cared enough to learn the real stuff about your family instead just assuming things. I shouldn't have pushed you away either." Nya apologised. "I should have thanked you instead. You are the only person who has ever gotten to know me, the only person who has actually given me a chance to change and I appreciate that so thanks."

Jay smiled.

"So what did you want to tell me?" Nya asked.

"You have to promise not to hate me though, okay?" Jay smiled guiltily.

"Depends what it is." She teased. "Go on."

Jay took a deep breath and began. "I really like you. Like a lot. I wanted to tell you earlier but you kinda interrupted and then walked off so--"

"Right, sorry about that." Nya blushed. "But you like me? I mean, ME? Why me?"

"I dunno. There's just something about you that I can't describe." Jay blushed too.

"I have something to tell you too but I can't explain it using words." Nya said.

"Are you going to slap me?" Jay wondered.

"No." She giggled. "Why would I do that?"

"Just wondered..." Jay narrowed his eyes curiously.

Nya placed her hands on Jay's soft cheeks and pulled him into a kiss. When they broke apart Nya gasped.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" She exclaimed.

"You didn't mean it or--?" Jay frowned.

"I did mean it!" Nya replied.

"Then why couldn't you have just told me that you liked me too?" Jay asked.

"Because I wanted to kiss you." She blurted out.

Jay fell speechless.

"Sorry." She face palmed. "That sounded better in my head."

Jay giggled and nodded.

"But I liked it." He smiled.

"Me too." She smiled back.

Jay suddenly gasped, startling Nya.

"I gotta get to the hospital!" He exclaimed.

Nya nodded. "Good luck. I mean, I hope he's fine. I mean-- Tell him I wish him a get well soon."

"I will. Thanks, Nya." Jay told her before beginning to walk off. Nya grabbed his wrist and kissed his cheek. Jay blushed slightly and smiled at her.

Jay sprinted up to the boys and as soon as Cole spotted him, he jumped up from the bench.

"You. In there. Now." Cole demanded whilst pointing at the main doors.

"Why aren't you in there?" Jay frowned.

"We had a little problem." Lloyd sighed.

"SHE THREATENED ME!!!" Cole exclaimed.

"Not sure that's how it really went..." Zane muttered.

"It was." Cole told him. "Either way, we gotta get in there so I can shove it in her snobby little face that I was right and she was wrong."

"Calm down, Cole, we ain't here for that." Jay rolled his eyes.

Cole marched on in the building, followed by the other three. He swaggered up to the desk and smirked at the woman, who hadn't noticed him just yet. When she did look up, she rolled her eyes and sighed.

"Sir, I thought we agreed that you would leave." She told him.

"Are you threatening me again? I can get the authorities onto you, you know. My father is the mayor and he can get you removed from this job." Cole glared.

"Cole?!" Lloyd interrupted.

"What? I told you I was going to rub it in her face." Cole whispered to his friend.

Jay shoved Cole out of the way.

"Jay Gordon?!" She exclaimed.

"Told ya I'm friends with him." Cole snarled.

"Sir." She stated.

"I'm guessing you want to know Cliff Gordon's room." She typed stuff with her keyboard.

"Second floor, room 4." She told him.

"Thank you. Also, has he been causing you problems?" Jay asked the receptionist.

She took a deep breath. "Not at all."

"His father is not the mayor, by the way." Jay whispered. She nodded.

"Yes he is." He told Jay and the turned to the woman. "Yes he is."

"Come on, let's go." Jay dragged him away.

On the way upstairs, Zane turned to Cole and frowned.

"Your father is the mayor?" He asked.

"No." Cole laughed.

As they approached the room, Jay suddenly paused.

"You okay?" Cole asked him.

Jay sighed. "What if he isn't okay?"

"He will be, I promise." Cole rubbed Jay's shoulder comfortingly.

Jay nodded and headed towards the room. A young female doctor came out of the room with a clipboard and closed the door behind her. She looked rather frustrated. She instantly spotted the boys and stopped them.

"Is he okay? Is my father okay?" Jay asked panicked.

The doctor sighed. "I'm afraid not. You might want to sit down for this..."

Jay looked at Cole worryingly.
