The School Girl and the Ghost 2

22:51, 4 October 2023

Hanako was still flustered by his assistant's sudden question. The ghost boy was fearful. "Did...Did Yashiro asked me to marry her?! ME?! This isn't like my assistant at all!" He thought.

Yashiro grows a biggest smile on her face. She puts her two hands altogether, looking so cute.

Hanako was getting disturbed. He left his mouth wide open for feeling completely horror-stricken. "Oh no...Nonononono! Don't look at me so hopeful and happy! This is coming too fast for ME!" The ghost boy thought again.

Hanako touches his head with his both hands. His amber eyes got spirals for getting all unexpected. And his face all red like a sundae cherry topping. The ghost boy was in a panic. "I gotta say something! But what?! It's way too much for me to handle! I mean marriage is nothing but a commitment! I won't allow my assistant to do that! I have to reason with her! She's young after all! C'mon, Hanako! Try to say no!" He thought.

Yashiro waited for the ghost boy's answer for a minute or two. The ghost boy's assistant had to wonder, feeling lovesick. "Hey, what do you say, Yugi? Marry me?" She asked.

Hanako becomes appalled, gasping once for her mention of his last name. The ghost boy perturbs and answered in his shout, gesturing his hands at her to wait, "I'LL THINK ABOUT IT!"

The ghost boy's assistant was confused. Yashiro has not seen Hanako acting so complicated. She blinks her eyes three times at him.

The ghost boy gasps again. Hanako opens his eyes, recognizing for what he just said to his assistant. The ghost boy glances away to his left, using his hat to hide his face. "Yashiro...I'm sorry...What I meant to say was-" Hanako efforts to finish his sentence, but his assistant cut him off.

Yashiro takes his left hand immediately. The ghost boy's assistant changes from her baffling to her smiling (in her sweetest way). "There's no need to get nervous for this." She reassured.

Hanako still uses his right hand to hold his hat on his face to conceal. The ghost boy was bothered. "Huh...Yashiro, wait-" Hanako tries to stop his assistant, but she cut him off again.

Yashiro used her right hand to held his left hand. The ghost boy's assistant puts something inside of his left palm of his hand. It was a black ring with a white skull on it. "I'm glad you gave me your honest answer. You got all the time in the world to think about it." She said.

Yashiro's right fingers curls his left fingers. She held his left hand, getting him to hold onto the ring in his left hand. The ghost boy's assistant looks at him (even his face was hiding behind his black hat). "I know I'm still in school. I know I have a long way to be more than a friend with you. And I figured if we start dating, maybe you'll change your mind about me someday." She stated.

Hanako attempts to give the ring back to her. The ghost boy was still bothered. "Yashiro, I don't know if I can be devoted to-" he said quickly in his second thoughts, but his assistant cut him off again, kissing his left curled fingers softly.

Hanako peeks from his black hat. The ghost boy became more redder than before. He was dismayed. His eyes are widening in shock.

Yashiro lets go of his left hand. The ghost boy's assistant was delighted. "The magic spell...to overcome your shyness for being around with me..." she reassures.

Hanako swallows himself hard. He's getting spirals in his amber eyes again.

The ghost boy was trembling for what just happened moments ago.

Yashiro was baffled by his odd behavior all of a sudden. "Yugi, are you okay?" She inquired.

————————————-

Yashiro left school to go home.

Hanako hurries to the science prep room.

His two hakujoudais followed him.

The ghost boy was in his state of dread.

When Hanako made it to his destination, the ghost boy was out of breath that his voice sounds tiresome. He was in the doorway. "Tsuchigomori-sensei! My assistant asked me a question that I don't understand!" Hanako blurted out.

Tsuchigomori faced the ghost boy. He seems deadpanned as usual. "And what did Miss Yashiro has asked of you, honorable number seven?" School mystery number five wondered.

Hanako huffed in frustration. He uncurled his left fingers and stared at the black ring with white skull on it. The ghost boy was expressing his melancholy at it. Hanako wanted to say no to his assistant, but his words came out wrong. His overwhelming feelings for Yashiro got the best of him. He narrowed his eyes. Hanako would be the luckiest ghost boy if he says yes to his assistant. But Hanako worries about her life than his happiness.

The question in the ghost boy's mind is...

Why does she want to marry an apparition?

Hanako can't get rid of his unease feeling. "Yashiro...asked me to marry her..." he replied in his whisper.

Tsuchigomori raised his right eyebrow at him. He extended his left hand to him. "Let me see what you got, number seven." Tsuchigomori said.

Hanako walked up to Tsuchigomori. The ghost boy faced him. Hanako was ashamed. "I didn't say yes, number five. I kinda got weirded out when she asked me that. I told her that 'I'll think about it'. Really, I have." The ghost boy explained.

Hanako showed the ring to Tsuchigomori.

School mystery number five observed it. Tsuchigomori picks up the black ring with the white skull on it.

School mystery number five squints his eyes, examining closer with his both hands. "Hmmm..." He pondered.

And then, Tsuchigomori made a mischievous grin. "Ah-hahahahaha!" He laughed in exclamation.

School mystery number five's laughter left Hanako with his puzzling expression. "What the heck is so funny, Tsuchigomori-sensei?" Hanako asks.

School mystery number five settles down after laughing for a few seconds. "Heh..." he said.

Tsuchigomori points out the ring for Hanako. "Honorable number seven...that ring you have here from your assistant...is just a silly plastic toy ring..." Tsuchigomori mentioned before laughing out loud again.

Hanako becomes staggered. He has his two fists on his head. "A toy ring?!" The ghost boy inquires in his exclamation.

Tsuchigomori gives it back to Hanako. School mystery number five was confident yet acting a total smug. "It would have been a ring from a girl. It's also for asking you to study in school together with her. Heh heh heh. But I'll let you and Miss Yashiro work out tomorrow." Tsuchigomori declared.

Hanako was irritated with him. The ghost boy waved his both arms up and down. "Tsuchigomori-sensei! She asked ME to MARRY with her! Not STUDY with her! Yashiro's a human!" he ranted.

School mystery number five tilts his head to his left. "And you're an apparition. I don't see any problem about you and your assistant." Tsuchigomori said.

Hanako was resolute with him. "This is a problem. I can't marry Yashiro. I do liked her. But the last thing I wanted to see someday is for her to get hurt. I couldn't bear the feeling in my heart. I just..." the ghost boy added, placing his right hand on his heart. "I don't want the only friend I got...to face her darkest fate with me...I really don't want that..." he reasoned.

School mystery number five was taken aback. He blinked his eyes twice at her.

Hanako was solemn. The ghost boy has his puppy eyes. "Tsuchigomori-sensei, please...I'm not letting my assistant throw away her chance...her chance to live a life she doesn't get yet...for me..." he pleaded.

Hanako breathes in and out with ease. The ghost boy do mean it about Yashiro. He just cares for his assistant so much.

School mystery number five sighs of pity. Tsuchigomori touched Hanako's shoulders. School mystery number five was sympathetic. "Number seven...Marriage is a big commitment...I know nothing about love...It's fully up to you to do whatever is best for Miss Yashiro..." he said.

Hanako looked up at him.

Tsuchigomori took a deep breath. "Maybe tomorrow is a good time to talk to her...About your assistant's reasons for such unexpected proposal to you..." he said.

Hanako blinked his eyes once. "Yashiro was serious about me, number five..." He said.

And suddenly, the ghost boy made his sad smile at her. "I guess...I'm gonna have to try to date with my assistant...I'll be sure she doesn't know what love truly is..." Hanako decided.

Tsuchigomori nodded his head at him. "Good luck, honorable number seven." He uttered.
