Chapter 70

I'm sitting down in front of the office table. I'm like freelancer director. Yeah I'm working if Artie needs some help with his shorts movie or making music video.

"Mommy, I got a kitten." Logan walks in and holds a fluffy kitten.

"You two buying dinner or went to the pet shop?" I frown at them.

"We went to both." Logan grins at me.

"I bought your favorite food. And the adoption agency called me lately." Mike says to me.

"What does they said?" I turn my face at him and gets up.

"Someone pick us." Mike smiles at me.

"Oh God." I smile back at him and hug him.

Mike hugs me back and rubs my back. "Yeah there is this 16 years old girl who is pregnant and already six months old pregnant and having a girl. She is living in New Jersey." Mike smiles at me.

"Finally." I smile at him.

"And I'm calling a realtor for a house." Mike says to me.

"What?" I frown.

"Daddy wants to buy a house with a swimming pool." Logan grins at me.

"Mike, we don't have money." I frown at him.

"You forget that your husband is really good at saving? Besides I have this wedding money from my parents that I didn't use at all so..." Mike grins at me.

"Oh forget that you're coming from a rich family." I laugh.

"Well, but since I was little my parents always taught me about saving. I'm really good at that." Mike says to me. "In that new house, we are really going to have a new family. Our family start there." Mike rubs my hair.

"You are the leader in this house so I will follow what you want." I smile at him.

"We are in this together not me. I will do it unless you're agree." Mike says to me.

"Well, buy a house that not far away from the coffee shop so I'm still can look after it." I said to him.

"I will." Mike smiles at me.

I smile back at him and turn my face at Logan. "Don't give the kitten cookies." I shake my head.

"Its name is Loui." Logan says to me.

"You remind me of uncle Maddox." I said to Logan.

"Why?" Logan asks me.

"Remember when we found a kitten trapped in the fence of my house? Maddox didn't let anyone touch the kitten." I turn my face at Mike.

"Yeah. And couple months later that kitten died because he gave him cookies." Mike chuckles.

"Really?" Logan asks us.

"Yes. He named the kitten Dash. Your dad and I took the kitten to the vet because it was bleeding and after that uncle Maddox doesn't let anyone to touch the kitten." I chuckle. "Oh he also killed the golden fish that your dad gave me for my graduation present." I said to him.

"How?" Logan asks.

"I told him to clean up the fish tank. He did cleaned it but he doesn't move the fish into another place and the fish got poisoned from the soap and its died." I chuckle.

Logan laughs and shakes his head. "I thought uncle Maddox is smarter than me."

"He is. He was just so innocent when he was at your age." I chuckle and walk to the kitchen counter.

"So I will have a baby sister?" Logan asks us.

"We don't know yet but the girl who picked us is having a baby girl. This weekend we will go to New Jersey and meet her okay." Mike says to him.

"You want a baby sister?" I ask Logan while preparing the food.

"Baby sister or brother we are all same in God's eyes." Logan simply said.

"Who taught you to say that?" I smile at him.

"William Van Kemmen." Logan giggles.

"I have a new book. I will read it for you tonight." I smile at him and put the food on the dining table.

"Yes!" Logan yells happily.

I smile and keep preparing the food for dinner. Logan is seems busy with his new pet and Mike is just busy with his paperwork. Soon, there will be a new member in my family.

I'm walking to the living room and see Logan is napping while hugging his cat. I smile and put blanket around him then walk to his bedroom.

Logan asked to have a pet since so long. He doesn't remember that we used to have Brownie until he passed away. And now Mike got him a fluffy cat and I think he really loves that cat.

I take some of his clothes and put it into my suitcases. Tomorrow we will go to New Jersey to meet this woman who is probably going to have our baby. I just hope that she likes us.

"Flight tickets booked and I can't wait. I hope this woman will like us." Mike says as he sits down on Logan's bed.

"Well if you read our file, I'm sure she will. Who doesn't want to be raised by two bilingual parents?" I chuckle.

"Bilingual huh?" Mike chuckles.

I laugh. "Yes we are."

"I'm still scared that Logan is going to be jealous." Mike says to me.

"Don't worry, leave it all to me. I got him a new book about siblings and now he said he wanted to be like Anabelle Elizabeth who loves her little brother more than anything even herself." I smile at Mike.

"And that's why he loves you more than he loves me." Mike chuckles.

"No. He loves us equally. He couldn't stop talking about his superhero daddy to me. You know for him, you are a superhero. He is very smart, Mike."

"You know sometimes I think he doesn't need to go to school because you can teach him everything."

"Yet he is still needs formal lessons. We can teach him about lives but school where he applies all the lessons he learned." I smile at Mike.

"How come you are become so amazing like this?" Mike smiles back at me and pulls me to sits down on his lap.

I smile at him and put my arm around his shoulder. "Well because of you. You always make me smart."

"Because you already amazing." Mike smiles at me.

I smile back at him and pull my face closer to him and kisses him softly. Mike kisses me back until we pulls away hearing Logan start talking from outside.

I close the book and put it on the side table. "Where is daddy?" Logan asks me.

"He went to the hospital because there is an emergency." I said to him.

"When he will be back?" Logan asks me.

"I don't know." I shake my head.

"Okay, I'm going to stay here protect mommy until daddy comes back." Logan says to me and hugs me.

"You know when you have baby sister or baby brother you also have to protect them." I said to him and hug him back.

"I know that." Logan nods.

"Okay now you sleep. I don't want you to be really hard to wake up tomorrow because we will go to New Jersey." I said to him and rub his back.

Logan keeps hugging me and close his eyes. For an eight years old boy he is very spoiled to his parents but outside, he is a brave one.

I'm sitting down on the couch in adoption agency living room. I hope that the baby mother didn't surprise when she sees us.

"Mr and Mrs. Chang, here is Judith." Mrs. Willem walks in with an Asian girl.

"Hi. I'm Paris, and this is my husband, Mike. And this little guy is Logan." I smile at her and shake her head.

"It's nice to meet you." Mike shakes her hand and smiles at her.

"Alright, I will leave you guys alone." Mrs. Willem smiles at us and walks out from the room.

"At first I thought you guys were Asians." Judith says to us.

"Well, I'm Asian." Mike says to her.

"You can ask us anything you want to." I smile at her.

"You guys are so young." She said to us.

"Well, we are twenty eight. We moved to L.A after graduated from high school and we both enter UCLA. We actually from Ohio." I said to her.

"What do you guys do?" She asks us.

"I'm a surgeon in Siloam International Hospital." Mike said to her.

"And I graduated from film study in UCLA. I'm a freelance director. I did some projects collaborate with my friend and we also own a coffee house back in Los Angeles." I nod.

"It's seems like you both have a busy time." She chuckles.

"Oh not at all. Mostly I'm just checking the coffee house, and I can work at home. Ask this little guy." I giggle and rub Logan's head.

"I never take night shift. I have regular working hours." Mike nods.

"We are also planning to buy a house after we get the baby. Now we are living in an apartment but if we get a baby, we will buy a house." I said to her.

"You're Asian?" Mike asks her.

"I'm Korean. My parents sent me here to study but things got wrong, I got lost without my parents and you know. They can make me look like a stranger once they find out I'm pregnant." She said to us.

"What about the father? Doesn't he should be responsible for this?" I ask her.

"The father left after he got the news. He told me to go for an abortion but I love this baby, I want to see her alive with two loving parents. He went back to Netherlands. He is not Asian though." She said to us.

I turn my face at Logan. "You want to ask something to her?"

"No. But I will love the baby so much." Logan grins at her.

"Okay, how's everything going?" Mrs. Willem walks in.

"It's all good." Judith smiles. "I think I've made my decision. I chose them. The baby is going to be half Asian and they're half Asian. And I'm sure the baby will be loved and protected."

"Really?" I smile at her.

"Yeah. I can see from your son the way he behaves and I have a little brother with the same age with him and they have so much different attitude." Judith smiles at us.

"Thank you so much." I smile at her and hug her.

"Thank you." Mike smiles at her.

"Alright, I will be right back for the forms and all." Mrs. Willem smiles at us and walks away.

"Why you two choose adoption?" Judith asks us.

"I have dysfunctional womb." I half smiled.

"We actually can do surrogate but it's hard to find someone who wants to carry our child so we go for adoption." Mike says to her and rubs my back.

"Oh I'm so sorry to hear that, you guys." Judith says to us.

"I was adopted too. My biological parents left me in a hospital just with a note of my birthday. Imagine if my parents didn't find me. I would've been homeless and have nobody." I said to them.

"So here are the forms for open adoption." Mrs. Willem walks in and sits down next to Judith.

"This is the sonogram. The doctor said that it's a girl." Judith says to me and give me a CD.

"A girl?" I smile. "Okay, since we settle this down, you don't mind to stay with us when the pregnancy is starting enter nine months old? I want the baby to be born in Los Angeles." I said to her.

"Yeah." She nods and smiles at us.

"We will provide everything." Mike says to her.

"Okay, Dr. Chang, there are the forms that you need to sign but please read carefully." Mrs. Willem says to Mike and give him some forms.

Mike takes a pen and sign the paper. Then he hand it to me. I read the paper and sign it all of those.

"Okay, now you sign here and here." Mrs. Willem says to Judith.

I smile and cross my arm around Mike's arm. I'm so happy that this girl picked us. Mike and I will have a new baby. A baby girl who is half Asian and half Dutch. She must be really beautiful. I can't wait.
