One • Uchiha Sasuke
08:00, 16 June 2017Sarada hardly remembered Sasuke's face.
It was such a vague memory inside her mind, but it was understandable as she was only a small child when he left the village. In spite of the fragmented memory of her father, she could reminisce a special memory - Sasuke and Sakura guiding her as she took her first little steps, her right hand firmly grasped around her mother's while the other was latched around her father's larger ones. It was something that always magically appeared in her mind - with Sasuke's face a bit blurry, but nonetheless she knew it was him, it was her father.
Sarada woke up once the sun's rays hit her eyes through the curtains. She rubbed them to remove the sleepiness away while propping her elbow against the bed to sit up. The young Uchiha glided her fingers through her black hair, taking her red eyeglasses from the side table and putting them on before swinging her feet down to the floor.
Sarada performed her usual morning routines quickly; washing herself, brushing her teeth, and dressing up in her usual red qipao top with the Uchiha crest behind, a pair of light-colored shorts, arm warmers, thigh-length stockings and shinobi sandals. And, of course, her forehead protector.
She wasn't usually so fast with all of these, but today was a different day. She was ecstatic as she hurried down the stairs, going straight to the dining room, her smile automatically widening at the sight.
Her mother, Sakura, preparing breakfast as she spoke about something and her father, Sasuke, seated on one of the chairs while listening to her.
It was a simple sight - a scenario that other kids are probably used to seeing everyday, but for Sarada, it was special; it was something that sent a warm feeling to her chest.
"Oh, Sarada." She snapped out of her little reverie when Sakura called her. "Good morning, dear."
A faint blush covered the young girl's cheeks upon being caught staring at the couple. "Good morning, Mom." She replied before slowly turning to Sasuke, who had his eyes on her as well. "Good morning, Papa."
"Morning," Sasuke nodded before sipping on his coffee that his wife had prepared for him.
The smile on Sarada's face became brighter and Sakura didn't fail to notice that. The pink haired woman beamed, urging her daughter to join her father on the table and gave her some breakfast.
"Are you going on a mission today, Sarada?" Sakura inquired, joining the two on the table.
Shaking her head, Sarada answered, "Konohamaru-sensei is still recovering from the previous mission."
"Oh, right." The pinkette suddenly remembered the jounin. "He's still in the hospital..."
"I'll probably train with Mitsuki if he agrees. Boruto would probably pester the Seventh again."
Sakura raised an eyebrow, noticing the displeasure on her daughter's face once she spoke of the young Uzumaki boy. "You and Boruto always seem to fight. You still don't get along?"
A slight frown passed by her face. "It's not that. We're fine. I just don't like how he speaks about the Hokage position."
Sarada's response made her mother chuckle, and she secretly sneaked a glance at Sasuke who was watching her. His face was straight, but she previously heard that he's always been like that; stoic and serious. He's not that affectionate unlike her mother who bravely shows what she feels, and she wondered how he acted when the two of them were alone.
"Boruto is always complaining how he hates his father's position," Sarada added. "And it's weird that Konohamaru-sensei once told me that he can become Hokage. Because from how I see it, he loathes that rank. Besides, if he comes to like it, I don't think I'll let him off easily."
Sakura grinned at her daughter's statement while Sasuke's eyebrows raised a little. "Sarada," he called and she immediately turned to him, giving him her full attention. "Do you want to become Hokage in the future?"
Sarada locked gazes with his father for a few seconds, before replying with full determination in her face. "Yes," she replied resolutely. "I want to be able to connect with everyone in the village."
Sakura stared at her daughter, eyes full of admiration and love; meanwhile Sasuke's lips twitched into a smirk - a proud, prideful one.
. . .
Breakfast turned out well. Although Sasuke wasn't the guy who liked conversing, he joined in to some of Sarada and Sakura's discussions. It was obvious that the young Uchiha was still adjusting to her father's presence but she was getting used to it quite fast.
"Really?" Sarada's eyes widened upon hearing her mother's words.
"Really." The pinkette nodded eagerly. "Your father is going to watch you train today after meeting with the Seventh."
The smile that glossed Sarada's lips was something Sakura hadn't seen in a while. It brought an extreme amount of happiness and content to the medic's heart.
"I'll go change," she said before leaving the her husband and daughter in the living room to change her clothes.
Sarada pressed her lips together before looking at Sasuke who was staring at her already. She cleared her throat, voicing out the question that she's been wanting to say. "How are you, Papa? How was your journey?"
Sasuke's lips curled up into a very tiny smile - almost unnoticeable. "I have been fine, Sarada."
She smiled joyfully after hearing his reply. "Are you eating well?"
He couldn't help but remember the younger version of his wife, Sakura, while looking at his daughter and listening to her words. It's true that Sarada managed to get his hair and eye color, but most things about her reminded him deeply about Sakura. Both were absolutely tough and brave, but they had the most beautiful and brightest smiles. And he couldn't help but think of how thoughtful Sarada was, just like Sakura.
"I am," he nodded, scooting closer to her. "I hope you're eating well, too."
"I am," she repeated her words, making Sasuke smirk.
"By the way, Papa," Sarada called out. "Will you stay for good?" She reluctantly asked, a faint hope lit in her onyx eyes.
Sasuke's face turned serious and he saw the hope in her eyes cracking, so he sighed deeply. "Two weeks is all I have to offer, Sarada. I eventually have to leave."
He expected her to feel upset, and it was one of those rare times that he was surprised when she shook her head happily. "I'll take what I can get, then. Thank you for staying by our side, Papa."
Sasuke reached over and placed a hand on her head, staring lovingly at his daughter.
. . .
The Uchiha family walked out of the house together. Sarada, unlike earlier, was silent as she marched, but it was only because she paid a lot of attention to her parents' conversation.
"I'm not sure what time my shift ends," Sakura said when Sasuke asked about her work in the hospital. "There's a lot of teams being sent on missions recently, and they usually come back with serious wounds. Shizune-san frequently asks for assistance."
Sasuke nodded. "Then I'll show up before dinner."
"Alright, Sasuke-kun." The pinkette smiled.
Sarada curled her lips up as well. It was actually quite nice listening to their exchange of words. She once doubted Sakura's relationship with Sasuke, but they proved themselves to be connected, and now Sarada could clearly see that they are. She couldn't miss the way Sakura's eyes would lit up while looking at Sasuke, and how her father's eyes softened at the sight of the pinkette.
"Sakura? Sasuke-kun?"
The family halted when they came across a familiar blonde, a smile planted on her lips while two boys stood beside her. "It is Sasuke-kun!" She exclaimed again.
So Ino was still loud, Sasuke reminded himself as she approached them alongside her husband, Sai, and her son - whose name he didn't know of.
"Hey, Ino." Sakura waved at her best friend and turned to her pale husband. "How have you been, Sai?"
"We're doing well." He smiled.
"And Inojin," Sakura turned to the young boy. "How are you? Hope your mom is not being too hard on you." She added, just for teasing purposes.
"Actually, she is..."
"What was that, Inojin?!"
"N-Nothing, Mom."
Ino turned to the Uchiha couple again and caught Sakura's teasing smile. "Stop corrupting my son, Forehead."
"Sure, Ino-pig."
"Uh..." Inojin and Sai exchanged looks and Sarada blinked a few times as she watched Ino and Sakura bicker. Sasuke glanced away, looking uninterested. Some things don't really change.
"Anyway, it's nice to see you again, Sasuke-kun." Ino smiled while the ravenette nodded in response.
After greeting and talking for a few minutes, the two families soon parted. Sarada simply waved to Inojin and he kindly returned the gesture.
The training spot for Team Konohamaru wasn't that far and Sakura immediately saw one of her teammates, a boy with white-blue hair, golden eyes, and pale complexion.
"Sarada," The boy called once he saw the Uchiha family walking towards them. He lifted his gaze and met Sakura's bright green eyes, and Sasuke's intimidating onyx ones.
Sarada walked towards Mitsuki, with her parents trailing behind. "Where's Boruto?" She asked. What she said during breakfast was probably right - the Uzumaki boy would probably pester his father again.
Mitsuki shrugged. "He's-"
As if on cue, a blonde haired boy entered the scenario, jumping from a nearby tree and yelling his catch phrase, 'dattebasa!' which was awfully familiar to Naruto's verbal tic.
"Well, here he comes." Mitsuki muttered, watching Boruto march towards them.
Sarada raised her eyebrows. Well, that was unexpected. It was quite strange that he was actually here with his team instead of pulling pranks again. Even as a graduate from the Academy, he would still do that during his free time, and it was getting rather silly.
"Yo!" The blonde greeted his teammates, his gaze eventually travelling up to see Sarada's parents.
"How have you been, Boruto?" Sakura greeted, smiling fondly at the boy.
The young Uzumaki was about to reply until his eyes were fixated on Sasuke, who stood just beside the pinkette. He was looking down at him while Boruto stared back in surprise and, well, admiration - based from the glint in his eyes.
"Boruto?" Sarada frowned at her teammate's distracted expression.
The blonde immediately grinned. He looks so cool!
"Boruto, you look like you're possessed. You want to join Konohamaru-sensei in the hospital?" Mitsuki suggested, standing beside him.
Boruto snapped out of his thoughts and glared at the pale boy and Sarada who chuckled lightly. Sakura smiled at the three genin, folding her hands over her chest.
"Sasuke-kun will be watching Sarada train today. That means, he'll be watching the two of you as well," Sakura announced and the two boys immediately exchanged glances.
"Sasuke? So that's your name, old man?" Boruto asked with excitement laced on his voice.
"What - Boruto!" Sarada furrowed her eyebrows. "Why are you calling him that?!"
Sakura scratched her head as the two began to argue. Sasuke looked away the moment he began to see a mini Sakura and a mini Naruto bickering. The scenario was way too familiar for him.
"Anyway," Sarada faked a cough, walking over to the ravenette's side. "This is my father, Uchiha Sasuke."
Mitsuki politely nodded his head while Boruto continued to admire Sasuke, because he looked "cool" and "badass", as he would say.
There is only one shinobi who could rival your father. Boruto suddenly remembered those words that he onced heard from Nara Shikamaru when they were in a conversation. They're rivals, but still claimed to be best of friends. He's an Uchiha.
His smirk widened when he realized that this was the Seventh Hokage's rival - and, by extension, his best friend as well - and now, he was face to face with him.
"You're Naruto's son, huh..." It was more of a confirmation rather than a inquiry. Well, his features gave it away; with those blonde locks, blue oceanic eyes, and whisker marks that strongly resembled his father.
He nodded instantly. "My name is Uzumaki Boruto."
"Well," Sakura intervened, placing a hand on Sarada's shoulder. "I'll be going now. Sasuke-kun?"
"Yeah," he nodded. "I'll return shortly." He said, mostly directed to his daughter.
Sarada nodded. "Okay, Papa."
The two set off and the young Uchiha watched them with a glint of joy in her eyes. Boruto and Mitsuki didn't fail to notice this.
"What made you so happy today?" The blonde questioned, only to be ignored by the Uchiha.
Mitsuki sighed. "Of course she's happy about her father. Isn't that the first time he went back?"
"I don't know," Boruto shrugged. But he's pretty cool.
. . .
Sasuke accompanied his wife to her work first before heading to the Hokage Tower.
"Sasuke," Naruto called him when he entered the office.
"You look like you're going to pass out any moment," he remarked, walking towards him.
"Well, yeah," the Hokage agreed, rubbing his eyes. "I haven't had any sleep last night because of all these paper works, dattebayo!" He sighed heavily.
Sasuke knew that he was saying those things out of exhaustion. Everybody knew that despite all of those, Naruto was happy where he was now.
"I met your kid, by the way." Sasuke shifted the topic.
"Oh? Which one?"
A slight frown passed by the Uchiha's face. How many kids did he have? He ignored that thought and replied, "Sarada's teammate."
"I should've known. Himawari is always with Hinata, anyway." Naruto shrugged. "How's your family, by the way? Sakura-chan and Sarada must be very happy that you're back."
Sasuke didn't give a reply. It was evident that his wife was delighted upon his homecoming and the same went for his child. Not that he didn't feel the same. He was more than glad that he was beside his family.
"Is it time for Sarada to have a little brother or sister?" Naruto teased, snickering when Sasuke looked away.
"Shut up."
"I'm just kidding," he grinned. "But seriously though, your next child would probably be like you, since Sarada is a lot like Sakura-chan, am I right?"
Before Sasuke could reply, Naruto spoke again. "I mean, you two have ocular powers and all, but appearance-wise, she's a miniature version of your wife. She's quite the intelligent one, too, just like you during our Academy days."
He nodded. "You and Boruto have a striking resemblance as well."
"No," Naruto shook his head. "He's a lot like you, to be honest." He replied earnestly before a frown slowly passed by his face. "Or maybe not. He's quite complicated, dattebayo."
Sasuke couldn't say anything else - he didn't know Boruto personally at all.
"Let's talk about your journey then." Naruto started.
"Yeah," Sasuke gave him a nod. "Let's make it quick. Sarada is waiting for me."
. . .
A/N;
Hey! How was the first chapter? Personally I'm not very satisfied. There's more to happen in the next chapters (I know this was quite boring).
Feedback would be great :)
As I've said before, I watched clips from Boruto the movie and the next generation episodes, so I based that Boruto-Sasuke moment from the a real episode. Boruto really did think that Sasuke was cool lol
By the way... I was on Youtube a few days ago, watching SasuSaku amvs for inspiration and oH SHIT I unintentionally saw a super weird video lol it was like a love triangle between SasuSaku and SasuKarin. The video editing was amazing but I cringe every time I see the edited picture of Sasuke doing the forehead poke on Karin like- omg no
no offense to SasuKarin fans pls don't hate me lol I respect you guys! I just really can't explain my frustration when I saw that video. Gosh 😂 loved the video editing so much tho it's cool
Comment down what you think :)
