Chapter 49
05:13, 23 December 2022God damn stupid shi--
Bucky cut himself mid-thought when he noticed something--someone, stick itself onto the roof of the Airport.
"What the hell is that?" He utters out loud to Sam who is trying his best to keep pace with him as the two runs across the halls.
Sam glances up at the red and black figure currently in the process of crawling its way toward them and released a shudder. "Everybody's got a gimmick now."
They continued running faster and harder than they possibly could. Steve was doing his best to buy them time so it was up to them to get to the Quinjet.
Before they made it down the escalator there was a terrible smash. The spider figure had broken through the glass and was barrelling forward into Sam.
Sam grunted, his body thrown back across the floor.
On any other day, Bucky may have even smiled at the Falcon's pain but it wasn't any other day, therefore he was quick to throw a punch, his metal arm colliding with the bug figure.
The guy resembling an insect captures the metal arm before it could make contact, making Bucky freeze in shock.
How the--
"You have a metal arm?"
Bucky's mouth hung agape.
It's a kid.
"That is so awesome, dude--"
Bucky barely managed to dodge before Sam grabbed a hold of Spiderman, wings deploying in an instant.
He winced when Sam flew them away, but the kid managed to break out of Sam's hold, webs shooting out toward the pillars and overhanging poles. "You have the right to remain silent!"
This is going to be a long day.

Tony shot out small rockets, each one aimed specifically at the ground, halting the two running figures at once.
Clint was quick, he grabbed hold of Wanda, pulling her to his chest as they ducked to hide against the explosion that rocked the ground and the smoke that billowed out.
Tony hovers close, one hand held out, the other balancing his suit.
"Wanda, I think you hurt Vision's feelings." He tells her.
"You locked me in my room." The Scarlet Witch hisses. "You hurt my Lorelie."
"Okay. First, that's an exaggeration. Second, I did it to protect you. Third, since when did she become your Lorelie?" Tony demanded, sounding like a child at the mention of his sister.
Everybody loves her and Tony felt irrecoverably jealous.
"She's my Lorelie." He huffed before acknowledging Clint. "Hey, Clint."
"Hey man," Hawkeye steadied his bow, unsure of Tony's next step.
"Clearly, retirement doesn't suit you. You got tired of shooting golf?" He asks, amused.
Clint shrugged. Regardless of how many excuses he could come up with, this was a fight for the Avengers and as an Avenger himself, there was no way he could avoid it. So he had to disappoint his kids and fight for what he believed was right.
Although it did surprise him that Lorelie wasn't here.
It felt odd, fighting without their Dark Witch.
Given he knew her inability to choose a side, perhaps it wasn't meant to be this time.
"Well, I played 18, I shot 18." Clint smiled, bow straining beneath his fingertips. "Just can't seem to miss."
He fires two arrows at Tony, but he deflects them, shooting at the tips before it could explode.
"Well, first time for everything." Tony shrugs, sounding triumph.
Clint smiles even more. "Made you look."
Red glittered through Wanda's fingertips as she saw an opportunity and promptly took it. The lights pulled at the parked cars in the building above them, raining vehicles to the ground.
Tony tries his best to evade it but the heavy metal proved too much for him because soon, Wanda was able to bury him in a pile of smashed cars.
One of them slams into Tony's arm, making him hitch a breath.
"That's for Lorelie." Wanda's red eyes flash before Clint pulled her arm, leaving Tony to stare at the two figures as they run.
"Multiple contusions detected," FRIDAY announced from somewhere in the wreckage.
"Yeah, I detected that too."

Bucky chases after Sam and the weird Spiderkid, only stopping to pick up a blue sign the two of them had knocked over.
Grabbing it with his metal arm he shot it toward the kid and ducked behind a pillar.
"Oh god." He heard the kid say.
Bucky peeked his head around the corner and pulled back immediately.
"Hey buddy, I think you lost this!"
The sign is thrown back, the metal pinging against the pillar, narrowly missing Bucky's head as he rolled out of the way. He didn't have time to register what else the kid was going to do before Sam flew in and kicked the kid off the beam he'd been clinging to.
Maybe Sam wasn't so bad after all.
Albeit the Falcon annoyed him to bits, Bucky took the time to gather himself, but find it didn't matter because his gaze caught onto Sam just as the man's jetpack failed to deploy. He disappear around the bend before Bucky heard a loud crash.
Shit.
The kid must have shot a web or something.
Annoyed and a little irritated, he made his way in their direction, running faster when he realizes the kid had webbed Sam's wrist directly to the metal railing.
"Those wings carbon fiber?" The kid asks, curious.
Sam was looking at the web, disgusted. "Is this stuff coming out of you?"
"That would explain the rigidity-flexibility ratio, which, gotta say, that's awesome man."
Bucky jumped across the air, his metal hand grasping at the opposite railing before he hurls himself downwards to the secondary level.
He could hear Sam's voice growing louder as he neared.
"I don't know if you've been in a fight before but there's usually not this much talking."
"Alright, sorry, my bad." The kid swings downwards towards Sam, obviously going to incapacitate the Falcon.
Bucky didn't think, he just threw himself forward across Sam's chest, his metal hand getting the brunt of the hit as the two are thrown back, breaking glass.
They land on the ground floor, groans escaping the two.
When Bucky reached for the floor to steady himself, a web is instantly there, trapping his metal hand against the concrete. Beside him, Sam's arms are equally tied.
I'll be damned.
Bucky glares at the kid crouching above them.
"Guys, look. I'd love to keep this up but I've only got one job here today and I gotta impress Mr. Stark, so, I'm really sorry--"
Just as quick as the kid rambles, he disappears as Sam manages to control Redwing with his arm controller. It latches itself onto the kid's wrist before dragging him out of the Airport and into the air.
They crash out the glass windows, the kid letting out a startled yell as he falls.
Bucky lay next to Sam and looks up at the ceiling with an almost comical expression.
"You couldn't have done that earlier?"
Sam remains motionless. "I hate you."

Outside, War Machine and T'Challa were still fighting against Steve. The Super Soldier refuses to go down even with the electric Mace in Rhodey's hand.
In one effective move, Steve kicks Rhodey, simultaneously punching T'Challa backward in the process.
"Great," Rhodey grunts, as he throws the broken Mace aside.
T'Challa isn't impressed. He steps forward again, ready to lunge but Scott Lang, the Ant-man was beside Steve, holding out a small size truck.
"Hey Cap heads up!" He gives Steve the truck before holding out one of his blue Pym Particles Disk. "Throw it at this,"
Not questioning it, he throws the disk, and Steve obeys, aiming the truck in the disk's direction.
Almost immediately the pin-size Truck instantly transforms to its usual size. The vehicle groans, flipping over and barrelling onto Natasha, Rhodey, and T'Challa.
"Oh come on!" Rhodey gets out of the way just as the truck explodes, engulfing itself in fire and ash.
"Oh, man... I thought it was a water truck." Scott says sheepishly. "Uh... sorry."
Steve and Scott run back to join the others, leaving Tony's crew in disarray.
"Alright. Now, I'm pissed." Rhodey growls, angered as he straightens himself.
Natasha lets out a tired exhale as she clambers to her feet, ash raining above them. Tony has just arrived. He sets himself down beside her, one hand holding onto her shoulder to help her up.
"Is this, part of the plan?" She can't help but bite at him.
Tony sighed sarcastically. "Well, my plan was to go easy on them. You wanna switch it up?"
She rolls her eyes and held onto Tony as all of them began chasing Steve down again. Capsicle's team was at the forefront of the Airport, they had a clear shot straight to the Quinjet.
"Alright, Vision make your entrance," Tony ordered as all four of them circled the airport.
Steve's team stop in their tracks when Vision created a laser-like barrier, stopping them from going any further.
Natasha jumps off Stark and lands gracefully on her feet as Tony set himself down. Rhodey and T'Challa followed closely behind with Spiderman webbing himself in their direction.
"St-Stark." His comm crackled and he winced upon realizing it was a call from the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre.
"Really?" He grumbled, answering the call. "Yeah, a little busy right now." He tells the person on the other line.
Secretary Ross projected video comes into the view from within his helmet. He has his hands crossed over his chest.
"I'm afraid you might have to 'un-busy' yourself," He replies, haughtily.
"You gave me 36 hours Sir," Tony says bitterly and with slight anger.
God if he knew signing the Accords would make them treat him like a lapdog he would've thought twice.
"The Dark Witch is missing."
Tony felt his insides freeze.
"What?" His worst nightmares were all coming true and he could see from Ross's face, that man knows exactly what was about to go down. "Come again, because I think you just said--"
"Lorelie, Brook, Stark, escaped the Facility somewhere between midnight, she's gone."
Tony released a soft exhale, finding his fingers trembling. He made eye contact with Natasha. The Spy was staring at him, frowning openly at the fact that he was suddenly motionless.
He shook his head, slowly.
The expression on Natasha's face turned dark.
She instantly knew.
"Are you sure she's not playing hide and seek?" Tony snorts, voice an octave higher even as he meant for the words to be sarcastic and unbelieving.
"The guard that was knocked unconscious by her told me, that she said, and I quote; Tell Tony he can suck a truck,"
Tony clears his throat, a million curses floating at the forefront of his brain.
Natasha was already scanning the area for familiar threats, the spy's gaze narrowed dangerously.
An angry Stark was one thing but to have one with an unknown intention dead set on your ass?
That's a big; NO, NO.
"Do you have any idea where she went?" He urges, hoping the pressure in his throat would ease.
"I was hoping you'd give me that answer."
A loud explosion wrecked the ground, clapping loud in the air like thunder.
Both teams are startled at the sight of black lights that suddenly glittered around the area, creating an ashy mist that screams pure darkness.
It spread towards the field like vines, cracking up the cement and burrowing itself deeper underground.
Tony swallowed hard at the sight as the call between him and Ross went dead.
"She's here."
Everybody heard it.
The Dark Witch has arrived.
