023
17:58, 6 May 2023" i'll take care of myself, what are you afraid of? "
haeun, 3ye - yessir
Haewon's POVdistance was all that mattered. our breaths came in small spurts, both hot and nervous. at my sides, tanned fingers curled into sweaty fists, swinging forward as if it would make me run faster. behind me now, was lisa, looking back every few seconds in the insecure paranoia of being followed.
I could feel my heart beat...every single drum in my chest. Not through my ears, that was occupied by intolerant alarms blocking out any other sound that tried to be heard. This great pounding, this great pressure, it kept my blood high and pumping - it got even higher the moment the exit's door came into sight.
My pace sped up almost instantaneously, the pain my body was undergoing unexpectedly had an unpleasantness to it; as if another obstacle would stop us.
I spoke too soon.
A female with the striking initials of K.S stood undaunted in front of the escape with twain guns loaded in her hands.
"Fuck, not this bitch again." Lisa sighed ill-fatally.
6 MINUTES REMAINING.
I pouted hopelessly at the anxiety stirring announcement, still running a medium speed now.
All of a sudden, another experience of my ungovernable powers occurred but this time it was much more materialistic. I now understood what what needed to be done.
Accelerating with certainty, I run directly into the aim of the enemy, not because I was choosing to be reckless, but because there was a purpose this time, a main goal.
Being brave for me was always such a conscious choice ever since I was young. Whenever I saw a tidal wave of fear my feet chose to run away, they always did. Yet this time, I'm choosing to ride the wave and see where it takes me. I never was a fearless person by nature, quite the opposite, but this time I will not be mastered by such a basic emotion, a primal urge.
I believe the blocker was not expecting such a move and that gave me enough time to get to her first. Tackling her trunk with all my strength, I send the weapons clanking across the shiny floors as I collected hair in handfuls, scratched, bit, kicked and head-butted. A raged scream left the girl. She tried to counterattack but I delivered a punch vehemently, shutting down her body for who knows how long.
"ARE YOU CRAZY?!" the blonde bellowed just behind.
"Uh..no?" I replied calmly, still attentively holding down the unconscious figure.
Rapidly opening the door, the grand room was in distaste; bloody bodies lied on every piece of furniture as the shape shifting of it's colour stained the furnishings gruesomely. Wintry gusts entered unwanted, the colossal punctuated window let the clamours of the city in unwillingly.
Just as I was about to stand up, a taut grip was felt on my leg as I was slammed hard into the ground. Scurrying to the door, the female foe locked it with my staff. How did she even get it in her possession? I knocked her out cold.
Lisa began banging, "Haewon, why did the door lock??"
5 MINUTES REMAINING.
I didn't know who threw the first punch, but suddenly my fist was slamming into her face while she sunk to my abdomen. Blood pooled her mouth as I gagged at the disturbing being.
"Lisa, I need you to leave!" I replied, still focusing on the fight while attempting to be loud enough for her to hear.
I kept my hope up that she would have enough trust in me to come out successfully, and judging by the tranquility of the door she did just as I told.
No sooner had I lost focus did a burning blow make a connection to my jaw. My vision grew weak as I stumbled onto to the floor, another blow, then another. Until black.
Light surrounded me as a room full of snow white came into existence. A woman blended with the shade, sat sipping who knows what on the kitchen counter. Looking down, I realised my body was glowing in a aquamarine aura. It felt like the kiss of a beach's crystal clear waters and golden sand tickling my toes.
"Where am I?" I asked.
"This is your soul Haewon."
How does she know who I am? And WHAT, I'm inside my soul?
"Who are you?"
"I am your grandmother, Sister Sooyoung." she responded, placing down the assumably finished cup.
So this was who my father mentioned, she was absolutely beautiful. I see where I got the good looks from.
Then the realisation hit.
"Am I dead?" I gasped.
"Yes you are dead, but not for long."
"Wha-"
5. " The angel will revive a soul"
Before I could question, a blinding light shone from the heavens as I lost my compos mentis instantaneous. Was that it? My only encounter with ancient ancestor? Answers haven't been answered yet and that somehow worries me.
Recouping back the robustness I lost from the mere brawl, my eyes panned to the girl who was faced towards the door. With stealth, I scanned around hastily for the gun which fortunately was right beside me. I leaped up and aimed for the bullseye, the skull.
"If you shoot me you won't get answers Haewon."
How did she know my name?
My grip played aggressively. I couldn't lose focus, not now, not anymore.
"What kind of answers." I retorted hastily.
Whipping her head round, she grinned insanely. What was so amusing that she couldn't share?
"As I have been told, Yeosang is dead correct?"
I rose an eyebrow in truth to the statement.
"Before his death, did at some point he mention who killed your mother?"
"No."
4 MINUTES REMAINING.
The automated declaration left us both unhinged. An even more evil-minded grin grew.
"I killed your mother."
I cocked the gun with decisiveness.
"Ah wait, do you at least want to know who I am?"
Impatience grew by the second as I gestured for the reveal. I had too much kindness in my heart, the visualisation of my soul clearly showed that well.
"It's me, Kang Seulgi."
Lies.
"The same Seulgi who was leader of the school council."
No you aren't.
"The same Seulgi who came to check and talk to you every lunchtime."
I didn't want to believe it but her cat eyes slapped me across the face with the deliberate truth. The unmerciful truth.
"Haewon I know you are hurting right now, but I had no choi-"
"YOU ALWAYS HAVE A FUCKING CHOICE SEULGI."
Cancelling off her sentence with such rage, I stabilised my hold. If only that young Haewon knew the person she was thinking of considering a friend turned into a murderer, somebody who took away her dearest loved one. No more mercy, no more falsifying, no more doubt.
3 MINUTES REMAINING.
I distributed four revengeful gunshots. Head, thigh, chest and arm. Seulgi still had that stomach-turning smile, showing that she had no sympathy in any of her acts. She was fake from the start. Coughing ragged and in shallow gasps for air, the blood made it's exodus.
There was only one last thing to be done before I made my own.
Tugging my staff out of it's barrier position, I heaved the door open firmly. That same breeze returned and sent the words "Freedom" circulating round my body.
Rotating to the almost non living being, I hauled her legs up and ran to the heart of the building; crimson making it's icky trail on the way.
Once arrived, I sashayed to the ledge and held the expiring girl's cocoa strands. Peering down only slightly, I saw the radioactivity increase as the heat of the bomb grew rapidly. Catapulting Seulgi down there would easily trigger the explosion before the actual countdown, I had to be fast.
2 MINUTES REMAINING.
"Any last words before you get dropped down there into your swift demise?" I asked, optimistically feign.
Only seconds went by as she forced up some words with every last ounce of life.
"I-I'm sorry for...e-everything I did."
I chuckled a laugh as fake and classy as Yeosang's himself. These were quite meaningless words coming from someone who acted so well disposed towards me.
1 MINUTE REMAINING.
"Don't say sorry to me."
I released the grip as she descended miles.
"Say sorry to my mother, wherever she may be in the afterlife."
I run, feet treading the earth. Tremors hit every wall and floor, pipes bursted gas into the atmosphere as I sprinted for the exit. My hairs stand on end as I feel the imperilling heat attack. Through the door, I jumped onto the creaky table for a boost as I threw oneself nosediving into the radical roads.
Gasps, fear and shrieks are heard as I closed my eyes. I had no clue as to where my members were, did they leave me? Thinking I wouldn't make it out?
Air resistance and gravity played their parts very well, there was no possibility of going against them so I chose to receive my kismet.
Prior to an unexpected seize that clutched my torso.
