Chapter 20

Rhydian's POV

Me Tom and Harry made our way over to Maddy's house. I'd washed and cleaned the range rover the night before so it was sparkling. I felt nervous. I hated dancing hated proms but I was doing this for Maddy and I was going to make sure she had a good time and I was going to try and have a good time myself. I parked the car and all three of us walked out. I was wearing a black suit with a white shirt and a black bow tie. Tom was wearing a navy blue suit with a light blue shirt and a tie and Harry was wearing a grey suit with a light pink short and a darker shade of pink tie. I opened the door with my key and Daniel led us to living room where the girls were waiting.

I sought out Maddy straight away. As soon as I entered the room our eyes locked And I couldn't bring my self to look away. An accidental nudge bought me back to earth and I looked her up and down. I felt her eyes sweep over my body. She was wearing a princess style floor length baby blue dress. It had a sweetheart neckline leaving her shoulders and arms bare. The front was covered with sequins up to her waist line where the dress billowed out and masses of silk tumbled to the floor to her feet. Her hair had been loosely curled and pulled to one side her hair parting also on one side, not in the middle as it usually was. She had light make up on but her eyes were heavily lined with kohl making her eyes seem a deeper shade of brown. She looked breath taking. She smiled shyly at me and I felt myself smile back. I glanced to my sides to see Tom and Harry looking awe struck. I couldn't blame them. My sisters looked like angels.

Emma:"pictures."

Me:"no." I groaned. Everyone laughed.

Dan:"can't escape this one son." He said patting me on the back.

We were all ushered out into the back garden where emma had us pose for half an hour against the now setting sun. There were lone couple poses, all six of us together, just the girls and then just the boys. Finally she snapped the last picture and gave us the all clear. As we were all walking back into the house I pulled Maddy back. She questioned me with her eyes. I smiled at her as I lifted her right wrist and slipped a deep red coloured rose surrounded by pure white buds on to her wrist. She looked at it for a moment before grinning up at me.

Mads:"I love it. Thank you." I kissed her lips softly.

Me:"I love you."

Mads:"I love you too." she murmured.

We walked back inside to find the others waiting. Emma and dan ushered us out and soon we were all in the car and driving too school. Maddy hand was clutched in mg own like I always did when I drove with her in the seat next to me. I kept glancing over at her just to make sure she was still there. And she would look back at me smiling and reassuring me with her eyes that yes this was real. That she wasn't going anywhere.

I parked the car in the school yard and got out. I walked round to Maddy's side and opened the door for her holding out my hand to help her out. Beneath all the material I glimpsed some silver heels. They weren't very high but Maddy loathed heels so it was a big thing for her. She slipped her warm hand into mine and stepped out. The night was breezy and I felt her shiver as I slipped an arm around her shoulders. I locked the door and all six of us gasped as we looked up at the school. They'd gone all out. There were fairy light and a huge banner that read prom of class of 2014. The floor of the entrance had a red carpet and what looked like candles and flower petals lining it. We walked in and handed our tickets to the year 10 girl who sat at the door behind a table.

We walked on to the hall. It looked larger than usual. But it looked beautiful. On one side was a long table backed up against the wall. It was full of drinks and snacks. The stage had been prepared with toms DJ kit a drum kit mic guitars and a keyboard. As we walked through the door way we were greeted by the three K's who complemented us all and led us to the stage to check the equipment. Tom put some track on from his iPad whilst people were still coming in. Then we all went to get drinks before we would start playing.

The hall was full of colour. The lights had been dimmed and fairy lights hung of the walls and ceiling along with tapers. The colour of everyone's clothes mingled together making it look like one big blur. As the hall filled up we all took our places on the stage. We decided what song we were going to sing first as mr Jeffries introduced us. We all took our places and then Ava and Shan started to sing. I sung where necessary too.

As we sang I couldn't help but keep sneaking glances at Maddy. She seemed soo happy. The crowd were wild. Dancing and cheering as we ended the song asking for more.

The songs kept on going until our voices were hoarse. We finally stopped and got of the stage. Tom had his track list playing and we all made our way over to the table to get drinks. Harry and Tom both pulled Shan and Ava on to the dance floor. But it looked more like they were getting pulled by the girls. Me and Maddy stood leaning against the wall. Maddy was leaning her head and had her eyes closed. She looked beautiful. The music was loud to our sensitive ears. And it had all of a sudden become stifling and stuffy. I leant closer to Maddy breathing onto her neck as I whispered in her ears.

Me:"do you wanna take a walk?"

Her eyes fluttered open then rested on mine as she smiled lightly and nodded. I took her hand and slipping through the huge crowd I pulled her out of the. Hall and into the night sky. The stars were shining brightly over head as we walked around the playground hand in hand. There were no need for words to be said. We were enjoying a rare moment alone. The music was so loud it could clearly be heard out here. Then a slow song came on and I did something I never had to do in my whole life. But this was for Maddy and for her I would do it over and over again. I stopped in front of her and held out my hand.

Me:"would you like this dance!" She grinned as she slipped a hand in to mine. I snaked my other arm around her waist and pulled her close as she rested her other hand on my shoulder. Looking deep into each other's eyes we began to move in perfect sync. We began to sing to each other as I spun her around the playground. We twirled and whirled and spun as we circled our dance space oblivious to the world around us. In that moment were only the two of us.

I twirled her one last time and pulled her flush against my body. My eyes fixed on hers. Her eyes fixed on mine. Our faces inching closer until we were millimetres apart. Our breaths mingled. I could feel her heart race in time with mine. Her eyes clouding up with passion. Then our lips touched and I could see fireworks exploding behind closed eyelids. Her arms wrapped around my neck her hands entwined in my hair. One of my arms wrapped tightly around her waist the other hand gently cradling her face.

All of a sudden there was deafening applause. Me and maddy broke away too see the whole class surrounding us. They were all smiling and clapping. Me and maddy both looked down blushing. When had these guys come out? We hadn't even heard them. Our four friends were grinning at us. We hurried inside after them to try and avoid the crowd. We all huddled around the snacks tables and poured ourselves drinks. It was quite hot now and we were all thirsty. The drink tasted funny and I soon realised it contained alcohol. It didn't affect me as much as it affected the others as I used to sneak some when I had lived in America. Maddy began to get a bit tipsy so I pulled her glass off her and led her onto the dance floor instead.

Mads:"I was enjoying my drink."

Me:"I thought you might like to dance to the last song of the evening."

Our whole class including mr Jeffries stood in a circle as the last song boomed out through the speakers.

We were all holding hands and jumping up and down. As the song ended everyone began to hug each other. Some people even let loose a few tears. Although everyone was now tipsy I doubt they knew what they were doing. I turned around to see Maddy back at the snack table with another drink in her hand. Dean was stood next to her. He was talking to her and stood too close to her for my liking. Thanks to the drinks she was unaware of this. He placed his hand on her arm and started to whisper in her ear. She laughed loudly and I felt my blood boil as he slipped his arm around her shoulders and started to stroke her arm. I walked over to them an moved Maddy out of his grip.

Me:"what do you think your playing at? She's taken."

Dean:"chill dude. I was only having a laugh. Anyways she didn't seem to mind."

Mads:"Rhydian calm down. He wasn't doing anything." Thats what she thought. The drink was fogging up her mind. I took her hand taking the drink out of her other one and putting it on the table.

Me:"come on mads. Were leaving."

Mads:"but..." I cut her off.

Me:"now Maddy."

Dean:"she has a right to do whatever she wants."

Me:"and if you know what's best for you then but out. She's drunk. No doubt you made sure she had extra drink. If you don't want a black eye and a broken nose I suggest you shut it." Giving him a death glare I put my arm around Maddy and steered her towards the exit. Just as we got out I met with Shan Harry Ava and Tom.

Shan:"are you guys going home?"

Me:"yup. Maddy's a bit too drunk and I'm not gonna drive coz Mia will kill me because I've had a few drinks. Are you guys going home?"

Shan:"me and Harry are going to my place."

Ava:"and I'm staying over at toms."

Me:"have you guys got your stuff ready for tomorrow?"

Shan:"yup. Parents dropped the luggage of this morning."

Me:"ok I'll see you tomorrow then." After a few quick hugs we all parted our seperate ways. Maddy was leaning her head on my shoulder looking very sleepy. "You want a piggy back?"

Mads:"yes please." She slurred slightly.

I chuckled at her as I picked her up and put her on to my back. She loosely wrapped her legs around my waist and her arm around my neck. I took hold of her legs to be sure she wasn't going to fall off and then started the trek through the woods. 2 minutes later Maddy stopped me.

Mads:"Rhydian. I feel sick." I gently took her off my back and walked her over to a tree. I held her hair back gently and moved her dress out of the way too. She retched violently onto the floor until nothing else came out. I took a tissue out of my pocket and wiped her mouth.

Me:"mads just wait here for one minute." She nodded and I raced back to the car. I took out a packet of tissues a water bottle and some paracetamol. Then ran back to Maddy. I was with her within a minute. She was stood leaning against another tree her eyes closed. "Mads are you ok?" She opened her eyes and nodded. I handed her the water bottle so she could rinse her mouth then handed her two tablets which she took gratefully. I wet some tissue to wipe her mouth, put 2 pieces of chewing gum in her mouth then put her back on my back and made our way home once more.

Tova

Tom and Ava were walking arm in arm back to Tom's house. Ava had her arm linked through tom's and her head was resting on his shoulder.

Ava:"Maddy and Rhydian make such a cute couple don't they?"

Tom:"yeah they do." He said smiling down at her.

Ava:"how did they meet? How did their story begin?"

Tom:"the story is too long to tell but Rhydian moved here about a year ago. At first Maddy wanted him gone because she didn't know that he was fostered when she found that out she came to me and Shan and said Rhydian was a part of her life whether we liked it or not. And then he kinda stuck. But Maddy and Rhydian were always closer. Obviously now we know why. At that time they told us they were cousins but I always had my suspicions. From friendship it grew into love but everyone else seemed to realise it before they did. I think Maddy first realised when Rhydian left. And then now here they are. Closer than ever."

Ava:"wow. That's so cute and sweet... Hey Tom do you think maybe one day we'll be like that? Do you think our love will ever be as strong as theirs?" She looked up at him expectantly. Her question had stumped him as he still hadn't said them three words to her but now that he thought about it he hoped that whatever Ava was saying would actually happen.

Tom:"I hope so. I mean I know we will have our ups and downs but as long as we work at it I don't see why we can't have a relationship like there's." She'd smiled at him but inside she was a little disappointed. Over these last couple of months she'd became so sure of her love for Tom but he still didn't seem ready to say them three words or talk about love full stop. She was beginning to wander if he actually felt anything for her at all. She shivered in the cold night air. "Are you cold? Hold in a sec I'll give you my hoody." She looked at him skeptically but he had handed her his suit jacket to hold and then taken off his well hidden hoody.

Ava:"seriously. You had a hoody on that whole time? How?"

Tom:"I was cold." He simply replied helping Ava into his hoody and putting on his jacket again. She snuggled into it and inhaled his masculine scent deeply. He placed his arm around her and they continued on. They reached his back garden and he kicked the football that lay there.

Ava:"pass us the ball Tom. Let's have a little kick about."

Tom:"Ava it's past midnight. I think we should go inside."

Ava:"Thomas are you scared of losing to a girl in heels."

Tom:"no because I never lose."

Ava:"then I don't see the problem." She said with her hands on her hips. He smirked at her.

Tom:"your on Grey."

Ava:"bring it on okanawe."

Ava hitched up her dress and ran towards the ball before Tom even noticed. She began to run with the ball towards the goal as Tom ran towards her. She dribbled and dodged and Tom was unable to take the ball of her. She ran. She shot. She scored. Tom had to admit to himself that she was good. She was in a large dress and heels and she was able to do that. But he wasn't about to admit it before.

Tom:"I didnt know you had to cheat to show your a better player."

Ava:"oh boo hoo Tom. It's not my fault I was ready and you wasn't."

Tom:"oh it is so on."

They played like this for about half an hour. Tom had found himself concentrating less and less on the game and concentrating more instead on Ava and how she moved. They'd become more playful and had constantly run into each other, Tom wrapping his arms around her waist from the back to move her away from the ball. They were laughing as they played there noses becoming runny and pink in the cold. Tom had run straight at Ava in a bid to get the ball. They had collided and Tom had wrapped his arms around her waist to stop her from falling. In that moment their eyes had met and they both became lost. Tom leaned his face forward as Ava tilted hers up. Just as their lips were about to meet the heavens opened up. Rain began to fall soaking them to their skin. Then the soft sound of music could be heard from a nearby distant.

Sharry

Harry and Shannon were strolling hand in hand, walking towards Shannon's house. Harry was asking her questions and Shannon was happily answering every once in a while asking a question of her own.

Harry:"are you cold."

Shan:"not really. Just a tiny bit."

Harry wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close. Shan snuggled onto his side sighing deeply.

Harry:"better?" Shan nodded.

Shan:"Harry? I saw the old band talking to you before. You looked a little down when you were with them. Is everything ok?" She waited for him to say something. When he didn't she spoke again. "You don't have to tell me anything you don't want to. I just want to know your ok."

This time Harry sighed deeply before speaking.

Harry:"it's not that Shan. When they came up to me before it's because they want me back in the band." Shan stopped in her tracks causing Harry to stop too.

Shan:"well that's great isn't it?"

Harry:"is it really? I mean I don't know." he placed his arm around Shan and they resumed walking once more. "The thing is once I left them guys and made friends with you guys I realised that the old band were never really my friends. It was always strictly business and no fun. Ever since I've become a part of your group Shan I've got the best of both worlds. Friends who are family and a great band. Our music sounds so much better. I didn't even realise what I was missing out on. Plus I get to spend so much time with you which is the best bonus. They were just trying to get me back and I guess I was tired of saying no. I told them not to bother me again or there would be trouble."

Shan:"Harry first of all it's our group not my group and second I'm glad your finally happy and you have what you want. But you know it's ok for you to be friends with them too. But if you don't want to no one is forcing you. I will support you either way." she smiled up at him and he pecked her lips.

They had reached her house. Shan had a shawl wrapped around her shoulders and arms. They sat down on the swinging bench in Shannon's garden, Harry leaning back into it and Shan resting her head on Harry'a shoulder. Harry began to swing the bench lightly.

Harry:"I love you."

Shan:"I love you too." They stayed silent for a while just swinging on the bench Shannon listening to Harry's steady heartbeat and feeling the gentle rise and fall of his chest as she lent on him. Harry was playing with Shannon's hair humming softly into her ear.

Harry:"you know Shan, I'm so glad Rhydian talked to you and that you listened. If it wasn't for him I don't think we'd be here today." Shan looked up and gazed into Harry's eyes. She could see clearly the love he had for her in them. And as he looked back into hers she hoped he could see the same love back.

Shan:"I'm glad too." She whispered lost in his trance. They leaned closer there eyes fluttering close. There lips barely scraped as the heavens opened up. A soft sound broke out from a distance. It was music. It broke the trance and Shan looked out into the night sky instead. It was pouring. She stood up and walked into the middle of her garden opening her arm out wide spinning around under the falling droplets. They soaked her. She looked back towards Harry.

Harry:"Shan come back under the shelter." She shook her head and motioned for him to come out. He sighed heavily before walking out towards her almost instantly getting drenched. She reached put for his hands and pulled him out in to the middle. They stood close and he kissed a falling droplet of the tip of her nose.

Maddian

They were in the middle of the woods now. Maddy was feeling a lot better. Rhydian was in a bad mood. He still couldn't get the image of dean and Maddy out of his head. What would have happened if he hadn't been there? Would they have kissed? He knew dean still liked her. And Maddy had been so unaware of his intentions, no thanks to the drink. AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH! All this thinking was making his head hurt.

Mads:"Rhydian."

Rhyds:"hmmmm."

Mads:"you can put me down now."

Rhyds:"it ok mads. Your not well I don't mind carrying you."

Mads:"I feel a bit better now. I want to walk."

Rhyds:"ok." He gently let her down. He didn't look at her for too long. He didn't want her to see him annoyed.

Mads:"your annoyed." She said slipping her hand into his.

Rhyds:"no I'm not." He relied as normally as possible. She pulled him back stopping him in his tracks. She turned him around so that they were stood facing each other.

Mads:"don't lie to me. What happened? I honestly don't remember anything that happened in the last hour." He furrowed his brow.

Rhyds:"you don't?" She innocently shook her head. He sighed deeply before looking in to her eyes. "Dean." He said as if expecting her to understand.

Mads:"what about him?"

Rhyds:"he still likes you. He gave you a couple of drinks and started getting close to you. Luckily I saw and moved you away but you were adamant that he hadn't done anything wrong. You honestly don't remember?" She shook her head once more but now she looked upset. "Hey it's not your fault. It's ok." He held her cheek in his hand and stroked her bottom lip before kissing her gently. She reciprocated and a smile tugged at his lips.

Mads:"race you." She whispered against his lips before running off.

It took him a moment to break out of the trance she cast upon him. He turned to face the way she ran. For a moment he was paralysed by magic. The sight she became. She was at one with nature. She seemed to be a glowing blur as she sped through the forest and further away from him. He felt a sharp pang in his heart when he lost sight of her. This is when he began to run. He knew he could easily outrun her but for now all he was going to do was catch up. He caught up with her within 10 seconds. She was laughing as she kept turning her head to look behind her.

Rhyds:"cheater."

Mads:"stop being a sore looser Rhydian."

Rhyds:"I wouldn't be a sore loser if you hadn't cheated."

Mads:"whatever. Catch me if you can."

She ran further through the woods. He purposefully stayed a little behind his hand occasionally catching her arm before she sprinted harder and he slowed down for a moment. Soon the trees began to thin out and the moonlight filtered through the trees. They were close to home. He'd had enough of running. He quickened his pace and wrapped his arms around Maddy's waist and twirled her around as she squealed in surprise. He turned her to face him and let her down her body sliding down against his own. They were breathing heavily panting almost. They were lost once more in each other and as their lips connected the heavens opened up. They grinned as the pulled apart looking up towards the sky before returning to their kiss. Then the soft sound of music reached their ears.

It got cold and then dark so suddenly and rained

It rained so hard the two of us were the only thing

That we could see for miles and miles

And in the middle of the flood I felt my worth

When you held onto me like I was your little life raft

Please know that you were mine as well

Drops of water hit the ground like God's own tears

And spread out into shapes like

Salad bowls and basins and buckets for bailing out the flood

As motionless cars rust on driveways and curbs

You take off your raincoat and stretch out your arms

We both laugh out loud and surrender to it

The sheer force of sky and the cold magnet Earth

All three couples were dancing beneath the rain. Lost in each other. If you were to watch them from afar or near it was clearly evident how in love they were. They danced until the song ended then they all returned inside where the changed in to warm dry clothes before each couple snuggled together in their beds wished each other goodnight and fell into a peaceful sleep. Excitement for the next day blossoming within them.

From a distance Alric stood and watched all three pairs especially Maddy and Rhydian. He smiled to himself as he wished them all goodnight picked up the radio he'd played the song on and disappeared within the trees.

Ok guys I hope you enjoyed this chapter as much as I did. I think I actually liked this one. I tried to incorporate the same kinda scene in to the last three parts but in each couples own way.
