duncan pov:

i get off my messy bed from texting courtney and walk downstairs to see my dad reading the news paper like we are in the 1960s or something.

'dad i need you to sign this.' i say and shove the paper in his face. he adjusted his glasses and grabs a pen and quickly signs it.

i don't thank him i just take it and walk away.

i pick up my phone hoping courtney has texted back, but she hadn't.

i grab my bag and throw a bunch of random clothes into it. i pick up chargers, socks, shoes, jackets and throw it on top of everything and zip the bag.

i shove the bag into my closet and sit back down on my mattress. i turn on the tv and lay my head on my pillow.

i pick the paper up from my side table and read it once again.

'this trip will last 5 days. friday-tuesday morning. the teens going will have an excused absence from the days they miss.'

wow, i'll have an actual excused absence in my record.
