27: Exhausted

12:04, 18 September 2021

It was morning in a split second, that was the quietest night Draco has ever slept in months. Usually, in the middle of the night, Draco would have already woken up from a nightmare. But with you by his side, he was finally woken up in the morning like the old days, before all the chaotic stuff with Voldemort.

And there you were.

Still sleeping peacefully by his side.

Draco couldn't be more thankful that you came here knowing that your life will be at risk, all for him.

He decided that he wouldn't let anything happen to you, not when he's by your side.

But, he can't protect you forever.

He frowned at the fact that he didn't know how he would be able to keep you safe with the dark side taking over.

Then Draco realized something.

The reason you would be in danger was only because of the side he was on.

Voldemort wouldn't even begin to even consider the thought of having muggle-borns within his army.

So even if Draco begged him to let you go, it would only be worse if You-Know-Who knew of your existence and how precious Draco holds you in his heart. You would be Voldemort's trump card for using Draco to do anything he wants.

And if you know who and his army of Death Eaters ever was to ever win against Potter. You would be in danger again even after he hid you in his dorm safely for a long period of time because eventually, he would have to graduate from Hogwarts.

And when that time was to come, he would still have to leave you.

The only way you would be completely safe was if the dark lord was defeated.

So he decided that he would fight for you, to at least give everyone to have a chance against the Dark Lord.

And hopefully, to save you from experiencing whatever the world would become if the Dark lord wins this war.

Draco hugs you by your waist, pulling you closer to him and pressing his lips on your head.

The sudden motion woke you up, making you slowly open your eyes.

"Morning." He greeted, noticing that you're awake, voice gentle.

"Morning." You replied, snuggling closer to him, another voice that sounds exactly you had just woken up, which you just did.

Draco chuckled at your action.

Both of you stayed that way for a few moments longer.

"I need to get to class." He whispered.

You just nodded against his chest, clearly still not having the energy to wake up.

Draco silently chuckled.

He slowly got up from his bed, trying not to wake you up from your sleeping trance.

"Love you..." He heard before he completely got off from his bed.

He smiled adoringly at you even though you can't see it.

He gave your head one last kiss.

"Love you too." He told you before leaving to his dreadful classes.

-

For once in months, he was actually excited about something.

He couldn't wait to return to his dorm and finally be with you.

He opened the door to his common room and went straight to his room.

As he walked into the room, he found you still sleeping.

Draco could feel himself frown.

You didn't sleep all day, did you?

It was sunset by the time he returned to his dorm.

Exactly when was the last time you slept?

He quietly walked to the bed and gently sat down at the sides.

You still didn't seem to feel anything.

Were you really that tired?

Before Draco called out to wake you, he noticed you had a frown on your face.

He figured quickly that you were having another nightmare.

"Lia." He quickly went and shake your shoulders, but also gently not too rough.

Your eyes opened slowly, it took you a minute or two to remember where you were and what were you doing.

You finally turn and faced Draco.

"You're back?" you asked as you sit up and rubbed your eyes.

"Yeah." He answered.

"Did I sleep the whole day?" You asked, seeming to realize it yourself without Draco asking.

"It seems like it." Draco said, reaching out and casually combing your messy hair with his fingers.

You fell into a silence, not knowing what to say next.

"When was the last time you slept?" Draco asked, obviously upset.

"Sunday... I think..." You said drowsily, ignoring his upset tone at you.

Sunday, that was more than three days ago at this point.

"Lia..., that was three days ago." Draco said, very surprised that you were awake for three days.

"Yeah." You didn't seem to care, seeming to be awake now.

"Why?" he asked again.

You inhaled deeply and sighed. You could only hope the news you were about to break to him won't be too much.

"I...... managed to apparate out of my home without my wand..." You decided to tell him slowly how you got here, hopefully, he'll be able to process it without being upset.

"Wait, wait, wait. You apparated without your wand?" Draco interrupted you.

"How in the world you managed to do that?" He asked, confused about how you managed to do it without your wand, a magical tool that every wizard needs.

You never thought to tell Draco this since you thought it didn't really matter.

"Ever since the...... accident," Draco flinched at the sudden topic. He knew how much it hurt you to even speak of it.

He knows that you blamed yourself for their deaths.

Before you even said it....

He already knew why would you practice without your wand.

You wanted to make sure the incident with your parents wouldn't happen again.

"I've been practising casting spells without my wand. I read that that wizards with enough experience can be completely independent without them. But I never really succeeded in casting any spell without a wand. At least not until when my grandmother locked me up and broke my wand." You frowned at the memory of your wand broken.

"Your grandmother broke your wand? Why would she do that?" Draco knew about your grandmother, but he never really thought she would do anything cruel to you.

"I don't know how she found out but she knows that the wizarding world is in war. She stopped me before I could get to Kings Cross Station. She even went as far as hiring people to help her to stop me. They grabbed by my arms and took my wand from me." You can tell that Draco was not happy to hear this.

And you were right, Draco had a frown on his face.

"She then proceeded to lock me up in my own house. I can't even walk around the garden without a guard watching me. It took me months in my room to actually manage to cast spells without my wand." You finish recapping what happened back at home before you came to Hogwarts.

How could your own grandmother do this to you?

"So you apparated to Hogsmeade from your room after that?" Draco asked, wanting to change the topic from your grandmother.

"Not exactly..." This was the part that you didn't want to tell him, because you knew that he would freak out.
