Chapter Four

(A / N: ADDIE'S BALL DRESS AND ETC IN EXTERNAL LINK)

I woke up to Tyler barging through my door and throwing something at my head and slamming a box down on my bed.

"Dick." I muttered to myself as he slammed my door shut.

I looked at the letter and saw my name in cursive on the front. I sat up in bed and opened it. It was an invitation to the Mikealson Family Ball. I smiled then got up to open the box. I opened it and saw the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. My mouth dropped and I took it out of the box holding it up to me looking in the mirror. I set it on my bed and ran into Tyler's room. He was packing a bag frantically and he stopped when he saw me.

"Ty..where are you going?" I asked.

"Addie. Don't say anything to mom. But I'm leaving, I promise you brother to sister I'll be back."

A tear slipped down my cheek and I nodded. He closed his bag and ran down the stairs me running after him. I grabbed his arm before he left and hugged him tightly.

"Where ever you are going be safe. And please please call me. I can keep a secret but not for long. I'll also watch Caroline for you." He smiled as I spoke and kissed my forehead. I shut the door after he left and locked it. I walked back up the stairs to my room and admired my dress once again. I need accesories to go with it...shopping. I quickly brushed my teeth and threw on a T-shirt, Jacket and jeans before going to the nearest jewlery store. I walked in and was looking around when someone tapped my shoulder. It was a man who slightly looked like Kol.

"Hello. I'm Elijah Mikaelson, your Adelaide right?" He smiled.

"Yes I am. Nice to meet you Elijah."

"Nice meeting you also. You know Kol quite fancies you, more than any other woman."

A slight blush appeared on my cheeks and I smiled.

"I like him alot too, more than any other man."

He smiled and turned around to a glass case and told the clerk something. She smiled and opened the case taking out a beautiful black victorain looking necklace choker thing. I was in awe as Elijah placed it around my neck.

"Perfect. It will go perfect with your dress also." He smiled and I looked in a mirror.

"It looks so expensive."

"It's free. Kol has already paid for it. He knew you would come here looking for a necklace so her bought that one and made me wait here for you to show up."

I laughed and took of the necklace handing it to the clerk. She smiled and put it in a bag handing it to me. When I turned around to thank Eljiah he was gone. I walked out of the store and started heading towards the grill. I walked in and sat at a table. Matt walked over to me and I smiled at him.

"Hey you." I said.

"Hey Addie. You go shopping?"

"Yeah, for the Mikaelson Ball tonight."

"Your going too?"

"Yeah. Kol Mikaelson is kind of sort my uhh..we don't really have a label so technically you could say he's my labeless boyfriend."

Matt laughed and told me that he was going at Rebekah Mikaelson's date. Wow how many damn siblings does Kol have? I ate a burger and talked to Matt before heading home. I now have 5 hours to get everything done. As soon as I got home I got in the shower and then got out throwing on my strapless bra and underwear. I put on sweats then starting blow drying my hair. Once my hair was dry I started working on my makeup. Once my make up was done I looked at my phone and saw Kol had called me. I decided not to call him back and decide on what I want to do with my hair. I looked at my clock and saw I have 2 hours to get comepletely ready. I slid out of my sweats and put on my dress. I smiled at it on me in the mirror and put on my black pumps. I curled my hair and braided one side of it. I put on my lace black gloves and the necklace. I was completely ready and just in time. I put on some lips gloss and grabbed my phone and black clutch before heading downstairs. Matt was picking me up. I saw him outside walked over to his car.

"Whoa. You look stunning." He smiled.

"Thank you. You look quite handsome."

"Thank you."

I got in his truck and we arrived at the Mikaelson's. We started walking in when he held out his arm and I snaked my arm through his. We walking together and walked over to Elena, Damon and Stefan.

"Hi guys." I smiled and Elena hugged me.

"You look beautiful Elena." I smiled.

"Awe thank you Addie. As do you. Who's that lucky date of yours?"

"I am." I heard Kol say from behind me.

I turned around and he placed a hand on my cheek resting his lips on mine. I kissed him then pulled away wiping my lip gloss off his lips. I turned to everyone and they all looked completely shocked.

"You just had to go for the mayor's God-Daughter didn't you Kol..." Damon started but Elena shot him a look which made him shut up.

Kol just shook it off and smiled at me. He held out his hand and I took it intwining our fingers and he pulled me over to the stairs. We made small talk with alot of people and when he would introduce me I was his friend Addie...FRIEND! I would brush it off and just smile. When a man with champagne walked by I grabbed one and took a sip. The alchoal took away some of the nerve but not all of it and I don't feel like getting hammered tonight so I just took small sips and smiled. Once people stopped coming up to Kol he wrapped his arm around my waist and I pushed him away.

"Darling?" He asked confused.

"Kol..." I mocked.

"Are you okay?"

"Just peachy."

"What's wrong?"

I shook my head and I saw Esther coming down the stairs. She made a speech about how the family was basically being reunited and I smirked. We had to do and dance now and Kol grabbed my hand leading me to the dance floor.

"Keep in mind Kol, I'm shit at dancing." I giggled.

"Don't worry love, me too."

We started dancing and Ed Sheeran's Give me Love was playing. I love this song! I hummed along as we turned and danced to the music. Everyone was watching us smiling and I turned my head to see Elena dancing with Damon and Caroline dancing with Klaus? Confusion spread across my face and I turned back to Kol.

"Klaus fancies Caroline." Kol smirked and I nodded my head in understandment.

"He knows that she's with Tyler right?"

"Yes, but that doesn't stop Nik..it never will stop him."

"Would you stop if I had a boyfriend?"

"No..I wouldn't stop. I will never stop."

"Kol?"

"Yes dear?"

"What is this?"

"Well this is called dancing love."

I laughed and he laughed also.

"No I mean what are we? Friends? Friends with benefits?"

"Well I mean..consider yourself spoken for."

I smiled and kissed him. The dance ended and he pulled me out onto a balcony. He shut the doors then kissed me again. Things were getting pretty heated when his other brother Finn walked out and Kol pulled himself away from me. I just sat there was Finn looked highly confused.

"May we help you Finn?" Kol asked clearing his throat.

"Rebekah wants you. But I see your busy with a commoner..."

"Don't you dare say that Finn. Addie is different."

Kol grabbed my hand and pulled me into his body with force.

"Your not dating this girl are you?" Finn asked.

"I am. Why does it matter to you?"

And here I thought that Finn was the quiet one.

"Boys, no need to argue. Kol your sister wants you go see what she needs I'll be downstairs come find me when your done. And Finn what your brother and I do is our business you just do you."

I kissed Kol's cheek before heading downstairs and going over to a very annoyed looking Caroline.

"Hi Car." I smiled and she hugged me.

"How are things with Klaus?" I asked.

"Okay, I'm highly annoyed with him but things are okay."

"You looked annoyed."

"Yeah, How's your night going?"

"Just swimmingly."

We talked for about 30 minutes and I headed back upstairs to find Kol. I walked along the hallways when I saw Matt, Damon and Kol on one of the balconies. Matt was on the ground holding his hand and Damon grabbed Kol's Tux jacket picking him up and throwing him over the railing.

"KOL!!!!!" I screamed and Matt turned to look at me. I ran down the stairs and out the front doors where Elena, Stefan, Klaus, Caroline, Eljiah, Rebekah and Klaus were. Tears were streaming down my face as I saw Damon walking away from Kol's body. I tried to run to him but Elijah held me back.

"No! Kol! LET ME GO! KOL!!!" I screamed squirming in Elijah's arms.

"Take her inside and up to Kol's room. Don't compel her..Kol will have some explaining to do when he wakes up." Klaus said to Eljiah who just nodded and led me insde. We walked up the stairs and he led me to Kol's room. Tears still slid down my cheeks.

"Elijah?" I asked.

"Yes?"

"What did Klaus mean? By compel and when he wakes up. I saw Damon throw him over he's...he's dead. My boyfriend is dead."

"No he is not. Wait here."

I just sat on the end of Kol's bed crying for whats seemed like forever.
