This au idea can be made into a crossover one but that is up to the writer so I will talk as an oc or another character from Ranma being the one used for it.

So, we all know that Genma isn't the best father and it is a miracle that Ranma survived after everything that happened during his childhood so this made me think of something.

What if someone had noticed this when Ranma was still a kid and was fast enough to call the authorities and adopt Ranma as their own(if they call the authorities and Genma runs away while leaving Ranma behind or is actually caught, is up to the writer).

Ranma would still have some trauma from his first years of life but then he would grow with an adult that would get him therapy, actually be there for him and teach him that life isn't just about becoming the best martial artist.

Will Ranma still meet everyone he did in canon? Yes, but this time he will be visiting those places with his adoptive family so not many incidents happen(the one of him falling in the Pool of the Drowned Girl can still happen but be because they were all looking at the pools while listening to the guide and someone behind Ranma tripped and accidentally pushed him which ended with Ranma falling in the pool...and he would be taken to therapy again by his adoptive family and learn more about his female body as he could transform any time by accident or not).

How about all the arranged marriages? Genma probably would keep putting Ranma as his exchange coin in those things but the one that would still be canon is the one with the Tendous that was the one that happened when Ranma was still a baby.

Would Ranma follow it? He probably would wish to meet the Tendou sisters and see if he can see himself with any of them but if he couldn't, then he would not follow through with it no matter others wishes.

Anything else is up to the writer as it is if there will be a ship for Ranma or not.
