12(Shadowhunters)

An Au where everyone pushed Malec too much.

So, I have read fics where Magnus and Alec's friends/family seem to always believe the worst of them or that they will hurt each other(which understandable with how their relationship went in canon) but sometimes it seems too much as they always end up meddling in the relationship instead of letting them work on their relationship on their own(some of their meddling can be understandable but other no).

This would happen before the arranged marriage so Malec would have met sooner(maybe during a mission one of the shadowhunters got severely hurt and Alec had no choice but call a warlock and Magnus was the one to go help and they met then) and got to know each other and then started dating.

While not smooth sailing, the two were happy together until their friends/families started always pushing with Magnus' friends telling him how dangerous his relationship with Alec was and that he shouldn't be with him if he will end up being just one more lover who would break his heart and Alec's siblings always telling Alec he didn't know what he was doing and he should move fast in the relationship before Magnus decided that he wanted someone else who could give him all he wanted when he wanted.

But Magnus and Alec didn't like that, they had talked so they knew the dangers of their relationship for both of them so they decided to take it slow and learn more about each other(both the good and the bad) until it got to the point they couldn't deal with it anymore.

Which would be after Clary appeared and when Alec's parents came back with the news they wanted Alec to marry a shadowhunter from a good family.

They just wanted to be with each other but they were told to give up by their families and pushed to fight a madman that should have already been dead many years ago.

So, they decided that if everyone wanted to meddle with their lives then they would deal with Valentine on their own(including finding the Mortal Cup) and then Alec would ask the Clave to be left alone but permitted to keep his runes for dealing with Valentine while Magnus would leave the High Warlock position to Lorenzo(not really a friend of his so he would not be the group of the meddlers) before they left to leave peacefully in Indonesia(or other place).

How would Malec find the cup without Clary? I don't think Dot is dumb to not notice one of her cards had a powerful object on it so she would show it to Magnus who would make an almost perfect copy of it before hiding the real one somewhere almost no one would be able to access or maybe Clary was all for helping them if they found her mother and brought her back before they left.

Conclusion, anything else is up to the writer but it would be good if there was a part where years or months after Valentine was truly dead, they used tracking magic or something to find them and went to see them for some reason(maybe Jonathan did actually die in the fire or they went after them because they needed help dealing with Jonathan and Lilith, it's up to the writer) only to find them living peacefully in a small village were both downworlders and nephilims lived in peace and had three beautiful children(Madzie, Rafael and Max).
