Chapter 8: Changes

A/N: Good day! i will be changing different chapters since some of them are a bit confusing and such. anyway enjoy reading! most of the POV will be on 3rd person. the longer the better right? leave a comment and vote!

3RD PERSON'S POV

 it was the 6th day of the month when harry's trial arrived. After what sirius and lupin told him certain information the day he arrived, he has been more curious and worried. what they worry now is his trial. Dumbledore refused Sirius's request and ordered Mr. Weasley to accompany harry instead.

"just breathe and tell them exactly what happened when they asked" hermione said as she watch harry fixing his hair. ginny helping him with his coat.

"and don't lose your temper mate" ron said. harry nodded and breathes in and out

"here harry, take these" fred gave him a small bag full of sweets. 

"to lessen the tension-"

"and don't be nervous-"

"you're going to be fine" they smiled at harry. harry bid goodbye to them and left with Mr. Weasley. 

"i really do hope everything will go smoothly" hermione said as she slumped herself on her bed. 

"it will Mia. they will do the proper thing." fred said comforting her

"even though they think that dumbledore wants his place-"

"and for being in denial that you-know-who is alive-"

"and out there gathering his followers" ron, george and ginny said

"yeah that makes everything loads better" katherine laughed at them. 

"why don't you show us your new inventions?" ginny asked as it went quiet.  the twins grinned at each other and disapparated. the girls rolling their eyes whenever they disapparate whenever the boys want to.

"this will be fun" hermione said annoyingly as she recalls fred telling her that they continue to create more inventions for their joke shop.

katherine wrapped her arm around hermione and chuckled

"chill girl, it's just a way so we can at least forget the real problems we are now facing" she sighed and smiled

"i hope they bring those at hogwarts. then it'll be a real problem for the prefects " ginny grinned at her imagination. 

when they arrived bringing a big box of their successful inventions, it was a great 3 hours when molly Weasley called them to go downstairs.

"children could you help me set up? arthur sent a patronus a while ago saying that harry is clear of all charges!" everyone was happy and excited for harry to arrive. there were different food on the table, tonks, lupin, kingsley and Mad-Eye arrived before harry and Mr Weasley. 

Everyone gave harry a hug when he arrived and congratulated him. he was relieved and hungry so they all went to eat. 

after the feast, they all went to their own rooms to rest. but as always, after Mrs. Weasley check each room, they all went to harry and ron's.

"so tell us about- GINNY?!" george exclaimed as ginny revealed herself on ron's bed.

"keep it down mate!" ron said appearing at the door. 

"shut it george! like you're not going to sneak into katherine's room" ginny hissed as she sat beside harry. harry and ron grinned as george's face turn red

"fred and i can do that because we're old enough" he said in a matter of fact.

"oh drop it love, i know you'll sneak into my room after this" katherine said to annoy george. Hermione wrapping her arms on fred's chest.

"Sirius and i were talking earlier. he wanted me to stay with him since he has this place now" harry said

"well that's good isn't it?" ron said yawning

"yes. and no." hermione said "yes because harry won't have to stay at his aunt and uncle. No because the ministry might discover where Sirius is hiding."

harry sighed and nodded "that's what i thought so too"

"he's not also happy that i will return to hogwarts"

"well we don't blame you mate" fred spoke. "i mean, even i' m scared of what's going to happen this year."

"and they say that hogwarts is the safest place" george said which made everyone laughed

"yeah. it was a bad 4 years for us three and we're still not used to it" ron said nodding.

FRED'S POV

It was our last day when letters from hogwarts arrived. as usual, we had to buy our stuff at diagon alley. Mum bought ron a new broomstick since he and Mia received a letter that they were chosen for gryffindor prefects. i can also feel harry's confusion and rage when ron was chosen and not him.

Another prefect in the family. how swell! though i'm happy that Mia was picked. it was already obvious. 

that same evening, george and i are packing up and made another bag full of our inventions to sell to first years at school when ron entered

"hey, mum was-" 

"oh no george! a prefect come to check our stuff!" i said  pretending to be scared.

"what ever will we do fred?!" he said. ron rolled his eyes

"shut it. mum told us to leave our trunks downstairs tonight." 

"yes prefect ron" we both stated and laughed

"ron might not confiscate those, but i will when we arrive at school" hermione spoke as her trunk was floating in mid air going downstairs smirking.

"then i will be looking out for you Prefect Granger" george said. i approached Mia and kissed her on the forehead. 

"are you going to scold me too?" i said in childish way. she laughed loud at what i did

"yes fred weasley i will if i have to" pinching my nose.

"she's not the only prefect you'll watch out for" katherine spoke. she showed her prefect badge at george and winked and went to her room

"why do the people close to me always get picked in this position?" he groaned

"well maybe Professor Mcgonagall think it's a wonderful idea so she can have people tame the infamous Weasley Twins" 

"she's just going to miss us" i said touching my chest near my heart

"never knew she had a soft spot for us troublemakers" george said pretending to wipe his tears. 

"go fix your stuff. it's almost bed time" hermione flew me a kiss and my heart continue to skip a beat

"slower than a turtle, twin brother" george said in a sing song voice. I playfully shove him and laughed.

"i don't want to complicate things" i said as i went downstairs with my trunk.

it was our last day at number twelve, so george snuck out of our room and went to katherine's. ginny was at harry's and i went to hermione's room. leaving ron to sleep at our room since he has it all to himself. 

hermione was happy to see me that night. 

"fred" she spoke after laughing at my jokes

"yes mia?" i said as i played with her curly hair, her head resting on my shoulder. 

"promise me you won't make any problems this year." she said. i rolled my eyes and chuckled

"yes mia-" 

"unless i'm with you. okay?" she said hugging me tight

"yes Mia. as long as you promise me that you won't confiscate any of our products" 

"i don't think so" she laughed. 

"oh come on 'Mione. i mean, last year was a devastating one. at least let us ease up the tension for the first years" she sighed and i smiled. i win!

"as long as you and george are not caught by either me or katherine" i nodded

"deal" and we drifted off to sleep.

When i woke up, i felt that something was missing. i opened my eyes and looked around. i looked at the watch and saw that it was still early before departure. 

"early bird" i murmured. crookshanks jumped on the bed and purred. i patted her cat and went to have a light breakfast.

"Honestly boys, you should set an alarm instead of waking you up every morning" mum said annoyingly as i saw george and ron who also just woke up. harry look as he already took a bath and enjoying his meal with ginny. 

"morning fred" hermione passed by and patted my head as she grabbed bread while she drank her morning coffee. she was also dressed and prepare to leave. 

"had a good sleep brother?" george said with a teasing tone.

"just like yours brother" the people laughed while the grown ups were talking at the other room. mum came back to tell (or more like threaten) us that we should hurry up to leave early.

after an hour and a half, we were on our way to the train station accompanied by aurors and padfoot since one of the aurors who was suppose to be harry's guard was not present which was very odd. 

we bid goodbye to our parents and friends and told us not to mention anything about the place or their group through letters. we looked for an empty compartment when ron and hermione needs to be at the prefect compartment for a while for their instructions. 

"hurry back Mia" i said as george pulled me close to him

"no selling any wheezes" she said pointing her finger at me and george.

"we'll wait for you guys here" i kissed her hand and left with ron and katherine. harry was quiet with ginny and neville. 

"so harry" george spoke

"how was your sleep?" i asked

"you look like you had lack of sleep" george said

"he was having nightmares. i couldn't blame him" ginny said as she held his hand

"it's that bad is it?" i asked. he nodded. people who keep passing by kept glaring at harry in a bad way.

"oi! stop glaring or else we're poking your eyes out!" i shouted at them and closed the door

"forget them harry. we believe you" george patted his shoulder and sat beside neville who was carrying a very unusual plant.

"i believe you too harry" neville spoke and gave us a small smile.

"it's rubbish. what all they write about you" he continued "my granma supports you too. My parents were also a victim of his followers"

"i know neville. thank you for.... not judging" he nodded and continue to examine his plant.

hermione and ron arrived when we were buying sweets from the trolley. harry was already a bit better when ron and hermione came back

"guess what" ron said

"you already scolded a first year?" george teased

"no. that's hermione's job. it's about malfoy-"

"he's a prefect too. and he's with katherine on the slytherin compartment doing rounds. we already did ours which is why we already came back quickly" hermione said resting her head on my shoulder

"sleepy love?" she nodded

"sleep. i'll wake yo up when we're close" i said since she was already in her school robes. 

"how can he be prefect?" harry said annoyingly

"he has a clean record mate" ron said

"plus dumbledore won't make you prefect. you already have a lot on your plate." hermione stated. he nodded even though he looks bothered.

hermione was already sleeping when katherine visited our compartment

"hey guys. hi love" she gave george a kiss.

"how's my girlfriend" george said looking at me as he emphasize the last word

"first years are fine. 2nd years not so. already confiscated some interesting things they bought at zonko's" she said in a tired tone

"we heard that malfoy was a prefect" she sighed annoyingly and nodded

"yeah. that ferret was giving me a hard time since i was the only one who did rounds while he was with his goons"she grabbed a box of bertie bott's and a licorice wand. 

"i'll see you guys later at the great hall. i need to escort them with malfoy" 

"i'll see you later love" george bid goodbye

"Mia" i whispered. she groaned. 

"5 minutes" she grunted

"you need to escort 1st years with prefect ron" i said. she groaned and stretched her arms and yawned.

"fine. i'll see you guys later." i nodded and went to change into my robes.

"when will you and hermione make it official?" harry spoke as we walked toward the carriages

"well harry if you must know-"

"i want to do that when everything is settled" i finished the sentence for george who shrugged

"when is that?' harry asked

" that's what we said mate" george said and grinned

"i don't want her to worry anything else but you mate" i said "you need her more than i do"

"that's not true" ginny exclaimed

"you're right it's not" i said jokingly

"you need her too fred. just make it official." harry said as he held ginny's hand and kissed it.

"you don't have to rub it in my face you know" we were all laughing when  neville approached our carriage with a blonde girl reading the quibbler upside down

"hey guys. you mind if we join?" he asked

"hey neville. luna" ginny smiled as they sat as the carriage moved

hello everyone" she said in a soft voice. 

"she's luna lovegood" ginny introduced her to us. we all smiled even though we were thinking of a different name in which people made to make fun of her.

Loony Lovegood.

Hermione's POV

"well that was a way to welcome our year" ron said but fred hit him hard on the head

"shut up mate!" he said. i rolled my eyes for ron can be very blunt about his opinions. after the sorting hat's song as a warning to all students and Umbridge's speech about the ministry interfering hogwarts, it was awkward for us and had to keep quiet when giving out our opinions about the situation.

we lead the first years to the common room with the gang. certain people giving harry a bad look as he passes by. 

"is there something wrong here?" ron spoke as we all felt the tension. everyone became quiet and continue to mind their own business. the boys escorted harry to the room while ginny and i went to the girls who were also whispering and pointing at us.

"talk about us or harry while we're in the room and i swear to merlin that all of you will be spending your night at the hospital wing" ginny explained as she played with her wand. i sighed and calmed her down as i glared at the other girls who suddenly became nervous and went to bed.

this is going to be a tough year" i said

"i agree." ginny patted my arm and went to sleep

"another tough year to us fred"

First day of classes. each class we went to, gave us a reminder that we are required to take our O.W.L.s (Ordinary Wizarding Level Exams) which is why we were given a lot of homework for preparation. i enjoyed it but i'm not sure ron and harry are in the same page with me.

Next class was Defense Against The Dark Arts with Umbridge. she gave out books for us to learn anything about the course objectives except using defensive spells. now this is what her speech meant. 

"why would students learn to use defensive spells when you are safe?" she said with her tone of mockery

"oh i don't know maybe lord voldemort" harry said. because of that, harry was sent to McGonagall's office and will be with umbridge every night of the week to serve detention. Now i have a subject to dread.

i saw fred walking down the great hall with george. i was suppose to call him when i saw them giving out free samples of their inventions. i walked silently behind them as they continue to give out samples when i pulled their robes hard making them fall back on their bums.

"OI! WHAT IN MERLIN- oh. hello granger" george grinned

"oi love that hurt. what did you do that for?" fred said as he stood up and wiped the dirt off his robes. i gave them a serious look and pointed at the ground. all their colorful bags filled with candies fell out of their hands. 

"i did say not to get caught" i wave my wand and all the candies went back to the bag and flew to my hand. 

"let's eat. i'm stressing out" and pulled fred to my side

"come on Mia. i swear we won't get caught by you. or katherine" he showed his handsome smile and winked at me. i laughed and patted his cheek

"nice one fred. but i'm not one of your fan girls" 

"yes you are! you're just not the girly type who'll follow and cheer my name during the game" he grunted and poured juice on my goblet.

"how's class so far?" i asked the twins

"boring" they both said.

"i mean, every professor are so serious and all." george explained

"except mcgonagall, she's always serious" fred said as he chewed on his food. Ron arrived with harry who is looking a bit pale. it was his first night at detention. 

"are you alright harry?" fred stared at him. i looked at him and he continues to drown into his thoughts. 

"uh yeah. fine" he said. i was suppose to ask him something else when fred took my hand and squeezed it. he and i looked at each other and nodded. 

"i feel like something went bad during detention" george said as he nodded at harry's left hand which was under the table. 

"hello lovely people" katherine arrived and sat next to harry. she was curious about the intense silence and went to sit next to george instead, passing under the table.

"what's going on?" she whispered. george whispered katherine something and her face hardened. ginny arrived with a smile and sat next to harry when she saw harry's left hand and went pale. 

"harry-" he smiled at ginny and gave him a kiss on the cheek

"how's your classes?" he asked.

we stayed there for another 30 minutes when people kept looking at us and pointing at our direction. harry wasn't bothered at all and tried to look okay as continue to eat.

"people keep pointing. i swear i'm gonna-" ginny said when harry pulled her down to sit.

"let them. i really don't want anyone to attract more attention" he said

"bollocks mate. you have us" George winked. Fred kissed the top of my head and they both stood and shouted

"ATTENTION STUDENTS!"

"OUR LOT MAY HAVE THE MOST DASHING PEOPLE"

"BUT STOP POINTING AT OUR DIRECTION!"

"WE HAVE 3 PREFECTS AND GINNY WEASLEY"

"WE'RE NOT AFRAID TO SEND YOU LOT TO-"

"THE HOSPITAL WING!" They smiled and bowed.

"okay that was brilliant" ron laughed. 

"you know what? let's go to the common room instead. " Ginny said and pulled harry beside her as they flirt. they kept looking at us but fred and george including katherine to give comments

"hey what are you looking at?"

"yes harry potter is taken so look away"

"like we're interested in him. he's craz-" one 6th year in ravenclaw spoke but katherine silenced her and laughed

"much better" she winked as  giggled

instead of going to the common room, we ran up the astronomy tower for privacy. i continued to make hats for the house elves and leave them anywhere at the common room.

"Love, even if you leave them anywhere they are not going to pick them up" fred scooted over to sit beside me. 

"i know. but i want to do it and they have the right to be free"  ron and harry laughed at the background

"i'm sure dobby would love your hat Mione. but the house elves here are treated equals" he explained

"which is why they don't want to be freed. and it's in their nature to be boss around and serving their masters" ron added.

"it's true hermione" katherine spoke "i have a house elf at home and even though my parents are high and mighty, they love squiggles so much she vowed that she'll serve our family for life" she giggled. 

"well i don't care. they should also receive payment and have clothes, unlike those rags their wearing." i grumbled. they laughed at my statement

"soon hermione. when they understand your point of view" harry patted my head and tried on one of the hats which looked too small on his head

"i'll keep this one. might give it to dobby when we bumped into each other one day" he smiled and kept it inside his pocket. 

when it was already late, we decided to return to our dormitories. george decided to accompany katherine to the dungeons and bid goodbye. 

i woke up early to study and finish my homework at the great hall when someone covered my eyes

"guess who i am" said a familiar teasing tone. i giggled

"fred even if you do this, i'm still not going to give you any of your inventions" he sat beside me and grinned

"i know. but it's alright. we have other plans" he winked at george who sat beside katherine. 

"hermione could you help me with our homework?" ron pleaded while trying to fix his stuff before sitting next to george. i gave him a serious look

"where's harry?" just when i asked, he arrived with his homework

"here. nearly done" he said rubbing his eyes

"you stayed up all night?!" ron groaned as harry nodded.

"hermione could you check my homework. i stayed up until 4 in the morning. ginny said it's already good" he said as he fixed all his notes

"well that's impressive" i said as i saw harry's notes. 

"i had to show the professors i'm not that crazy about what's happening to the world" 

i scanned his notes and nodded in approval

"they're all good harry. AND YOU RONALD" i exclaimed

"you do that on your own. harry has a lot on his plate and he can still spare time and you can't?!" 

"ouch mate. apparently we don't care about that cause we are planning to create our own business." george said

"so we don't need to have OWLs or NEWTs." fred said. i rolled my eyes at them but they do have a point. they can have a fortune this early with their inventions and the young ones even the higher students love them.

"is that-"

"hermes?" george finished fred's question. the weasley siblings looked at each other and landed in front of ron

"what does or prat of a brother want?" ginny asked as hermes flew away.

ron opened the letter and rolled his eyes while reading

"just congratulating me for becoming prefect" he said in irritation

"just that?" 

"he also said i should be cautious or which is better, to stay away from harry potter" he said mimicking percy's voice.

"load of dung" he said and set the letter on fire. we all went back to the common room to relax. when it was already late, we decided to eat before going to bed. i finished checking harry's homework while ron continues to study with the help of ginny which she keeps hitting him with a parchment paper. 

"hey guys" harry spoke. we looked at him with curiosity

"i forgot to tell you something. when i was in detention, something happened" 

"besides that scar on your hand?" i asked

he nodded "when umbridge touched my hand to see if it was enough, my scar burned. it hurt." 

"did you tell sirius?" ron asked 

"yeah i wrote to him about it" 

"how is that possible?" i asked, thinking.

"what's possible love?" fred asked as they came back from the kitchen

"harry's scar hurt when umbridge touched his hand" i said as they put the food on the table

"then she must be-"

"a death eater? doubt it" i said as i paced across the room while they continue to talk. 

"maybe she just have dark magic around her" george said popping another candy on his mouth

" maybe. maybe not-" 

"sirius?" harry said as he walked to the fireplace. we all saw sirius's head on the fire

"hello everyone. i'm sorry but i don't have enough time so let's get on with it" he said with a smile

harry asked him questions and additionals from us. 

"just be careful when it comes to umbridge. she represents the ministry and she will do whatever it takes to change hogwarts" he said

"i'm so happy harry has sirius" i said as i held on to fred's hand

"i know love. and he has us" i nodded

"he'll never be alone" fred kissed my head

"i will keep in touch with you young people. take care harry" he said and disappeared.

"i think we should go to bed" ginny said, rubbing harry's shoulders

"yep. it's a visit to hogsmeade tomorrow" george said stretching his arms. 

"and a date with my love after she studies" fred said twirling me around as i laugh

"behave when you guys go to hogsmeade alright?" i said warning the twins because of their weasley wizard wheezes

"no promises granger and you know that" george said messing with my hair

i'll see you tomorrow fred" i said and waved goodbye

harry and ron decided to have a quick breakfast with me because they have quidditch practice after. knowing harry has been missing out their practices because of his detention with umbridge. ginny accompanied me to the common room since they all went to hogsmeade but i needed to finish my studying for the exams. 

" mione" ginny spoke while she continues to play with her wand

"yes?" i answered while reading

"i know you have a date tonight" i nodded

"so why are you  not getting ready?" she asked

"because it's hours away and i know what i should wear" i said not taking my eyes of my book

"but you're not even excited!"

"i am too" i said glancing at her

"she just knows her priorities gin" ron said as they entered the common room. the two looked so tired and sweating

"you boys need to change" ginny said "you look like angelina gave you a hard time"

"the slytherins were there and they were teasing ron so angelina almost tore ron to pieces" harry said closing his eyes

"oh you'll be fine brother" ginny said 

"no i'm not. i'm never gonna be good" he mumbled

"you just need more practice" harry said and patted him in the back. i looked at the time and looked at the door. fred must be coming back anytime now. where is he?
