21 Birthday! (Part 3)

15:41, 27 January 2015

I know I told you my mom left after I was born. She did but I may have lied about not knowing her. I used to go to her house for weekends. Sometimes she would pick me up from school.

*flashback*It's the last day of school until after Christmas but the atmosphere is ruined because it's raining cats and dogs.

I was waiting for dad to pick me up. He promised he would be back on time (he had a meeting in California and he was flying back today) because mom hates driving in the rain.

He said he'd be here before 3:30. Where is he?

Ok, now it's 4:00. He's never this late. First sign of something being wrong.

Finally I saw his car pull up and I hopped in. "Finally. I was waiting for two hours. Might as well have been two days." Usually he'd laugh, that was the second sign.

We got home and I started running up the stairs. "Katherine, I need to talk to you."

He never calls me Katherine. Third sign. I sat down on the couch across from him.

"Kat, I'm just going to say it. My plane was running late because of the rain. I called your mom to pick you up and she tried to. The car skidded and she lost control and she crashed...."

I looked up at him to see tears running down his face. That was the moment that I realised he still loved my mom.

I hated seeing him cry. He tried telling me that he was only crying because I was. So, I decided I would try not to cry ever.

I never wanted to see dad cry again.*flashback over*

I instantly regretted saying it but it was true. That was the last broken promise between us.

I looked up at him but tears clouded my vision. I turned and ran to my room. I stayed there crying until I heard the door open.

"Go away" I mumbled.

I just heard steps coming towards me until the person spoke. "Kitten, look at me." I looked up to see Steve, he looked so worried.

"What happened between you and your dad? He came back into the party without you and told Pepper that she should leave."

I told him everything and he held me as I cried. Eventually, I agreed to return to party. After fixing my hair and makeup, of course.

When we walked into the room the first person I saw was dad. Sitting at the bar. Drinking. Probably his seventh shot.

I walked over to him and hugged him, scaring him in the process. "I'm sorry for freaking out at you."

"I'm sorry about Pepper. I told her not to come but she did and I had to dance at least once with her so-"

"Dad, you're rambling. Shut up and dance with me." We stood up and danced until I nearly passed out exhaustion at 3am.

"Steve, will you lift her up to her bedroom? Aoife, help her get changed if she needs help." They both nodded.

"Aoife, you pervert, you just wanna see me naked."

She laughed. "No, your dad gave me 150 bucks to help you."

I got a fright as Steve picked me up bridal style. "Aoife, it's fine, I'm not so tired that I need help getting changed."

She nodded, said bye to everyone and she left. I miss that ginger weirdo already but Thor was hogging her so maybe it's good she's gone.

Steve started walking up the stairs and I fell asleep listening to his heartbeat, only to be awoken by him. "You need to get changed, Kitten."

I nodded, grabbed my pjs and went into the bathroom to change. I groaned as I realised I had grabbed my Captain America shorts and tank top.

I blushed as I walked into my room. Steve was still there. "I had to make sure you didn't pass out in the bathroom."

I laughed, saying thanks and climbed into bed. I was half asleep before my head hit the pillow, so I don't think I was in control of my mouth.

"Steve? Stay with me?"

"But-"

"Please? I'm scared of the nightmares."

He nodded and took off his jacket, shirt, shoes and socks before climbing in beside me. "Thanks, Steve"

The last thing I heard before passing out was, "You're lucky I love you."

I guess he thought I was asleep.

Hey penguinsOoooooh sorry about the whole mom thing.BUT on the plus side they have both admitted that they love each other whereas I am forever alone...Sorry about there being three parts for her birthday.-Milly
