03 SPIN THE BOTTLE
02:12, 21 April 2025THE SCREECHING SOUND of wheels dragging against the concrete floor was the only noise you could make out at that moment, indicating Mina's obvious irritation.
You couldn't blame her, of course. You were annoyed at yourself as well. Why couldn't you just have one normal conversation with him without running off like a mad man?
You wouldn't be surprised if Kaminari thought that you weren't mentally sane or something like that.
Feeling uncomfortable because of the unfamiliar silence between the two of you, you decided to speak up. "I'm sorry..." you mumbled quietly, looking at the ground with a guilty look.
Mina sighed, before she stopped in her tracks and placed down your suitcase. Silence took over for a moment, before she let out a girlish squeal. "Awhhh! You're so cute! I can't even be mad at you, I feel guilty about making you feel guilty!" She cried, leaping onto you and trapping you in a tight, inflexible hug.
Stumbling back slightly, but catching her either way, you let out a laugh. "You shouldn't feel guilty one bit. I'm the useless one. I couldn't even do one simple task." Saying that out loud felt slightly embarrassing, and you cringed at the recollection of you running away for the second time.
"No, no. That won't do, girl!" Your best friend pulled away from the hug. "It's my fault, I'm meant to be the expert but I totally rushed you! I should've taken your feelings into consideration, seeing as this is your first crush." She lightly teased, and you scoffed with a joking smile.
"Okay, whatever. I can't promise I won't run away this time, but I can promise I'll try my best. For you." You beamed, wrapping your arm around her shoulder.
"That's the spirit! We'll take it slow and steady." Mina stated, grabbing your other suitcase again and wrapping her arm around your shoulder as well. "It's time for you to get your first boyfriend!"
"You make it sound so embarrassing." You mumbled to yourself, Mina giggling lightly as the two of you walked towards the dormitories together.
"It's only embarrassing if you find it embarrassing. You've gotta embrace it, girl." She advised, causing you to scoff.
She lead you into the dorms, showing you to your room. It was pretty close to hers, so you were glad you wouldn't have to make a long trip to her dorm at night if you wanted to have a sleepover.
Standing at the door, you took notice that the rooms were pretty plain in colour, and quite small for your usual standards. But you could make it work.
Mina helped you unpack, setting up a couple posters and framed pictures on the wall. She giggled at one with you and her in front of a middle school, commenting on how cute you looked in that specific photo.
Heaving a large box full of the components for your bed into the room, you let out an exhausted when you opened it. You had to rebuild your whole bed, which sounded pretty easy, but you didn't have any instructions.
"This is gonna suck..." you mumbled to yourself, picking out bits and pieces, trying to piece them together like a puzzle.
"Huh? No worries, I'll go get Kirishima!" Your best friend rejoiced, running to go grab him. She left before you could say no, not wanting to disturb the redhead.
"You need help?" Kirishima asked as he peered in, Mina pushing him inside the room, ushering him to hurry it up.
"Yeah... only if you're fine with that, of course." You smiled, nervously pointing towards the big box filled with confusing parts.
"No biggie, I've got this." The sharp toothed boy grinned, flashing you with a thumbs up. He then walked over to the box and checked all the pieces, before expertly piecing them together.
"Wow, you're good at this." You complimented, watching as he worked on building your bed with ease.
"I know, right?" Mina chuckled, folding some of your clothes and organising them in your wardrobe.
Kirishima quickly finished your difficult task. He was about to fold the empty box until he noticed something was still inside, and he pulled it out in curiosity. "You've got a speaker? You should totally play some music."
"I totally forgot I had that in there!" You gasped.
Mina excitedly grabbed the speaker and hugged it. "I'm glad you did!" She sang. "Play some tunes, girl! Let's dance, I wanna show off my moves."
Letting out a chuckle at her behaviour, you nodded. "Sure thing, it's connected to my phone." You reached into you pocket and pulled out the device, turning it on. You tapped the button twice but it was to no avail. "Never mind, it's out of juice."
"Not a problem, Kaminari will charge it for you." Kirishima shrugged nonchalantly, before he called out to his friend. "KAMINARI!"
You yelped, immediately rushing in front of him and nervously blabbering. "No! No! Don't! It's fine, you don't have to!" Your begging didn't seem to work, seeing as Kaminari himself peaked around the corner moments later.
"What's up?" He said, causally walking into your room. Your blabbering immediately ceased, and you let out a dreamy sigh that only Mina caught. His fringe was taped up, and him in casual wear sent butterflies flying in your stomach.
Your dazed expression was immediately brutally murdered when you realised that he was in your room. Your room. Denki Kaminari, your crush, a boy, was in your room.
The pictures, the figures, the posters?!
"Can you charge Y/N's phone? She's gonna play some music." The redhead requested, gesturing towards you and your device clutched tightly in your hand.
"Seriously? You treat me like an object." He wiped a fake tear from his eye. "But since it's for Y/N, why not?" Denki shrugged, before he walked over to you with a smile and took your phone.
You were frozen in place, his surprisingly smooth and warm skin brushing against your fingers as he gently took the device, his lush lips curved into another one of his sweet smiles. He was so bright. Why? For what reason?
A bolt of electricity ran through him and you could've sworn it ran through you too. You were so close. It ran through to your phone, charging the device immediately.
"Th...thanks!" You sounded slightly surprised, taking the phone back with a grateful smile, attempting to mask your nervousness.
Ohmygodohmygodohmygod
"No problemo!" He shot finger guns your way, not forgetting to send you a wink.
Did he just wink at you? No, no, don't get ahead of yourself, Y/N.
"Oi! Dunce face, charge mine too!" Bakugo demanded from the couch outside your room and in the common area, causing Denki to let out a groan.
"Can't you just be a little more productive and charge it yourself? You know... with a charger?" Kaminari shouted back. You silently winced, seeing as he did just charge your phone, then called Bakugo unproductive when he asked as well. Does he think you're unproductive?
"Do you want to die?" Bakugo threatened. Denki let out a sigh, walking out of your room and most likely over to the spiky haired blonde to comply with his demand.
Mina giggled at your star struck expression, wiggling her eyebrows at you teasingly.
Kirishima looked between the two of you in confusion, scratching the back of his neck as he tried—and failed—to piece two and two together.
"Oooh! Let's play a game, guys!" Your best friend gasped, clasping her hands together excitedly.
The redhead snapped out of his line of thought, turning to Mina. "Sure! Like what?"
"You'll find out, but let's play it with everyone else!" Mina beamed, grabbing the both of you and dragging you two over to the living room area of the dormitory. She pushed you both onto the couch, where everyone else was before placing her hands on her hips. "Let's play spin the bottle!"
"Really? In school?" Momo questioned, obviously uncertain on the idea.
"That obviously violates school policy! No kissing is permitted on campus." Iida scolded the pink girl, grunting when she pushed him away by his face.
"Come onnn! Loosen up, guys! Let's have some fun!"
"I wouldn't mind..." Mineta grinned mischievously, a disgusting sheet of blush covering his cheeks as he drooled.
Everyone fell into a short moment of silence, staring at Mineta with looks of disgust or just even blank expressions.
...
"Everyone can play except Mineta." Iida proposed.

Mina had finally convinced everyone to play, and you all collectively sat in a large circle. You sat between your best friend, obviously, and Yaoyorozu. You hadn't exactly gotten to know her yet, but you'd be lying if you said you weren't excited to. She seemed like a fun and kind girl, and you knew you'd have lots of fun around her.
Sat in front of you, around three or four metres away, was none other than Denki Kaminari himself. You crossed your fingers, silently wishing he wouldn't have a turn to spin, or the bottle just never landed on him. You couldn't even imagine how sad you'd feel if you watched him kiss someone else. Truthfully, you'd be surprised if you even stayed to watch.
"Alright. Yaoyorozu, you start!" Mina pointed at the black haired girl, who immediately flushed a deep shade of red.
"What?- why me?!"
"Cause I said so. Get to it! Chop, chop!" Mina ushered, the rich girl nervously gulping.
"Alright... here goes nothing." She mumbled, leaning forward and spinning the bottle. It spun round a few times, before landing on the schools coldest boy. Shoto Todoroki.
You haven't really gotten an opinion on the boy yet—but given that he's endeavour son, he must be quite strong.
Everyone expected the boy to refuse, or just leave without a word. But it was a surprise when he agreed to kiss Yaoyorozu, who grew even more red at his words. The whole class was speechless watching the two kiss, and it seemed pretty clear that the two liked each other. You didn't peg either of them as the type to have crushes.
A few more rounds passed, and eventually it was your turn to spin. Whether you wanted it to land on Kaminari or not, you didn't know. Surely anyone would want to kiss their crush, but you felt as if it was wrong. Your first kiss being from a game of spin the bottle? That's not a good story to tell the kids.
Plus, you didn't like him that much anyways.
...
That was a lie.
It was your turn to spin either way, so you just had to let fate decide.
Ah, yes. The infamous strings of fate. Will you succumb to its demands? Or will you follow your own path?
Leaning forward, your hand reached out to the bottle. Anxiety and dread gnawed at your insides. Your hand hovered over the object, before finally spinning it.
It was all too slow for your liking. The motion of your hand twisting and spinning the bottle, to the slow speed of its turning motion. Who will it land on?
You chewed on your lip, nervous but definitely curious. What would you do if it was actually Denki? What would you do if it wasn't? And if it was some creep?
You could see Mina from the corner of your eye, slightly leaned over as she stared at the spinning object intently. She watched in anticipation, eyeing it as it went round and round. It was excruciating, and for some reason it all went so slow.
Jaw clenched tight, you counted the remaining spins.
One. The time ticked down.
Two. Your foot bounced impatiently.
Three. Your heart thumped faster in your chest.
Four. There was no backing out now.
Five. Why was spinning a bottle so dramatic?
Six. Your fate was officially sealed.
The object slowed, its end facing a certain blonde. The familiar black streak in his hair alerted you, and he gasped seeing on who it had stopped on.
"Woah! It landed on Bakugo!" Kaminari gasped, pointing to the spiky haired blonde next to him.
Damn it! It was so close
"Fuck no!" Bakugo barked, visibly annoyed. "I'm going to bed." He grumbled, stuffing his hands into his pockets and marching off to his dorm. Thank you, fate.
You let out a sigh of relief, glad you didn't have to kiss anyone. You were especially glad you didn't have to kiss Bakugo, who'd probably murder you if you did as little as touch him. It sure was a hassle for Mina to even get him to join the group, but you were glad he did as he was your special escape excuse.
Although, it was quite embarrassing that you did get rejected. However, you knew it was better that way. Standing up and stretching your arms, you decided it would be a good time to leave as well. "I think I'm gonna go head to bed too."
"Alright, don't come to school and hour late again." Mina replied to your words, sending you a wave.
Everyone wished you goodnight and you walked off, eyes lingering on Kaminari a little longer for comfort. Your feet scuffed against the floor lazily as you trailed over your dorm, shutting the door behind you and flopping down onto your newly made bed.
You curled up into the covers and let out a yawn, your mind drifting over to Denki.
Did he like you at all? Even if it was just as a friend?
You obviously aren't physically able to talk to him, perhaps you could text him.
No, you'd be way too scared to do that either. For a girl who's usually so brave, you seemed to be quite shy when it came to him.
Maybe if you couldn't be his lover, you should settle as his friend. Although, Mina wouldn't allow that. She'd see right through your plan and sabotage it.
Clearing your mind of all negative thoughts—especially the realisation that Mina was a ruthless, monstrous beast when it came to romance—you let sleep take over and drifted off into the land of dreams.
The land where you dreamed about your one and only Romeo.
wink.
