Chapter 4

"DETENTION?!"

Camila stood in the Principal's office, with Lauren, Dinah and Austin. Somehow Mr Cowell had found out about the little incident and he wasn't pleased about it.

"Sir, Dinah and I actually have permission to stay-"

"Oh I know, Miss Cabello but that doesn't excuse the fact that you helped these two troublemakers," Mr Cowell said as he pointed towards Lauren and Austin. Lauren just rolled her eyes as Austin looked down guiltily.

"I understand, sir."

"But since you're one of my finest students, you and Dinah only have Detention this Saturday," Mr Cowell.

"Thank you, Mr Cowell."

The principal looked at Lauren and Austin, "And as for you two, you have detention for a week, starting Saturday," he said.

"Yes, sir," Austin said.

"Whatever," Lauren said.

"Miss Jauregui, I'd watch your tone with me. You've already been held back once. Keep up with this attitude of yours and you won't graduate. Ever," Mr Cowell warned.

"I'll take my chances."

"Very well. You're all dismissed."

The rest of the week was a blur and soon, Saturday rolled around. Camila got up early, as per usual, and headed to school. She was very early and had some time to kill. She headed towards the music room but stopped by the door when she heard the soft tune of the piano and someone singing. She looked through the window and saw the dark haired green eyed girl in the room.

"And I've lost who I am, and I can't understand, why my heart is so broken, rejecting your love," Lauren sang.

"Without love gone wrong, lifeless words carry on but I know, all I know, is that the end's beginning."

"Who I am, from the start, take my home to my heart. Let me go, and I will run, I will not be silent."

"All this time, spent in vain, wasted years, wasted gain. All is lost, hope remains, and this war's not over."

"There's a light, there's the sun, taking all shattered ones. To the place we belong, and His love will conquer all..."

Her raspy and husky voice was perfect. Her voice was incredible for someone her age. The emotion in her voice was evident. She sounded broken. Camila couldn't see much since Lauren's back was facing her but by her posture, Camila knew that she was lost in the music. Lauren allowed herself to feel every word, to feel everything. Camila was in awe as she watched the older girl sing. The song came to an abrupt halt. Camila saw that someone else had entered the room. It was Austin Mahone. A part of her knew better than to eavesdrop but she was curious.

"Mahone, you know better," Lauren said as she turned to face him.

"I don't give a shit," Austin said harshly.

"We're here because of you," he added.

"It was your recklessness that brought us here. You know what detention will do to my rep sheet?"

"Relax. It's not going to kill you," Lauren said as she stood up but before she could walk away, Austin grabbed her wrist tightly.

"Let go of me," Lauren said.

"No, I'm not done talking to you, Jauregui," Austin said.

"Well, I am. Let go of me, Mahone," Lauren demanded.

"No!"

In one swift move, Lauren grabbed Austin's wrist and twisted it. Austin grunted in pain as Lauren brought his arm to his back and she grabbed the back of his neck and leaned in.

"If you ever touch me again, I will break your arm," she whispered harshly.

"Got it?"

Austin nodded as he whimpered in pain. Lauren added pressure to her grip and Austin cried.

"I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

"I GOT IT!"

Lauren let him go before she grabbed her backpack on the floor and rushed out.

Camila walked into the detention to find that Lauren was already there. She sat at the back, alone. She took a seat at the front and she tried to avoid eye contact. Austin came in not long after and he was holding onto his arm as if it might fall off if he didn't. He saw Lauren and sat in front, on the other end of the room. Dinah came a minute before the detention started and sat beside her best friend.

"You're late," Camila said.

"Almost," Dinah corrected.

"Morning. Your 4 hours start now," Mr Cowell said before he left the room.

Dinah took out her phone as Camila took out a book to read. Lauren brought her feet up and rested it on another chair as she leaned back and got comfortable as Austin stared at the clock. He turned around and saw Lauren covering her face with a book. He got up and tossed the book away.

"What the hell's your problem, Mahone?" Lauren stood up as she looked him in the eyes.

"You are my problem!"

"I should be at home. Instead I'm spending my Saturday and probably the rest of next week in detention."

"You're the one who wanted to do it so badly. It's not my fault that you decided to chicken out at the last minute. You should've said something but you didn't," Lauren said.

"Leave me alone," Lauren said as she sat back down.

Austin let of a huff before he turned his heels and walked towards Camila.

"Camilla," he said.

Camila put a bookmark in her book as she looked up, "It's Camila," she corrected.

"Whatever. I need to talk to you," he said.

"Not like this you're not. Cool off, and until you learn to say my name, then we can talk," Camila said.

"Camilla-"

"Austin, you seem like a nice guy but don't try your luck. I'll gladly give you a poly beat down," Dinah warned.

"Mind your own business, Hansen," Austin snapped.

Just before Austin could grabbed Camila, a hand grabbed his wrist first.

"I think you should leave the girl alone," said a very husky voice.

Camila looked up and saw that it was Lauren but she looked different. She looked... Angry. Camila looked at Austin and saw him give in.

"I'm not giving up that easily, Camilla," Austin said before he retreated to his seat.

"T-thanks," Camila said to the dark haired girl.

Lauren just looked at her before she walked back her seat. Camila felt her phone vibrate. She took it out and saw that Dinah had texted her. She looked at the girl before looking at the message.

Dawg, there's some serious tension between the two of you!

Camila shook her head.

Shut up..

But seriously tho... What's going on between you and Austin?

I think... I think he likes me...

LAUREN JAUREGUI!!!

Camila blushed as she looked up from her screen and stared at her friend, wide eyed. Dinah simply smirked.
