Chapter 17: Movie night

03:04, 16 August 2021

Lina's POV

I can't believe it—I got to kiss Spencer Reid, it was like a dream come true. I love how gentle he was, and how he made me feel safe.

"Hey, um... Lina?" Spencer says, shaking me from my thoughts.

"Hm?" I answer, glancing over at him. We are in Spencer's car right now, driving back to my apartment.

"Did I do it right?" he questions.

I look at him in confusion. "Do what right?"

"T-t-the kiss." He blushes.

"Oh." I feel my face getting hot. "That was my first kiss... but I enjoyed it."

"Wait, that was your first kiss?" Spencer sounds surprised. "Same here."

"Really?" I glance at him. "I mean, I've dated guys before but I never felt comfortable enough to kiss or do anything with them. I guess that's why they all ended up cheating on me."

"I'm sorry to hear that." Spencer frowns. I nod and close my eyes to get some rest when suddenly, a thought flashed into my mind.

"Wait, Spence," I say.

"Yeah?"

"Earlier, you said that you like me too.... Why did you say 'too'?"

"Uhhh, about that." He taps his fingers on the steering wheel. "You see, when you visited me at the hospital, I was actually awake... and I heard everything you said to me."

"What?!?" I exclaim, feeling embarrassed. "W-why didn't you open your eyes or something?"

"I wanted to surprise you when you came in by like, scaring you. But before I could, you started talking about... you know." He turns red. "So that's why I said 'I like you, too.' I was referring to what you said to me."

"Well, thank God you feel the same way." I giggle. "Otherwise that would've been awkward for you." I smile at him and he laughs. For the rest of the ride, we drive in silence, enjoying each other's presence. A few minutes later, we arrive at my apartment and I step out of my car, getting ready to say goodbye.

"Bye, Lina. Have a good night." Spencer smiles. I open my mouth to say goodbye as well, but I don't want to. I don't want Spencer to leave yet.

"Spence, do you want to come up and watch a movie?" I ask hesitantly.

"Oh, a movie? Sure." He grins.

I smile, glad that I can spend some more time with him. I wait for him to shut off the engine and he steps out of the car. I can't help but stare at his face, the moonlight glow makes his perfect cheekbones and jawline even more prominent.

"C'mon." I hook my arm with his. We ride the elevator up to my place and I unlock the door. Instantly, Pumpkin comes running to me. I bend down and reach out my hand and he does the high five trick I taught him.

"I never knew you had a cat," Spencer remarks.

I scratch the top of Pumpkin's head. "This is Pumpkin."

"He's cute." Spencer giggles.

"Not as cute as you," I tease and kiss him on the cheek, making him turn bright red. "By the way, how did you know Pumpkin's a he? I didn't tell you yet."

"When he high fived you, he used his left paw. Male cats tend to use their left paw more, while females prefer using their right."

I laugh. "Well, there's another fact that I never knew."

"Is he friendly towards strangers?"

"Hmmm... only certain people." I put down my purse. "I know it's weird, but he can sense if the person is nice to me. Like he loved Phoebe, my friend that was killed." I shudder as I think about her tragic death. "But he was an ass to my ex-boyfriends."

"You know, they say that cats can distinguish between good and bad people. They are also excellent judges of human character and emotion."

I smile and raise an eyebrow at him. "Go ahead, let him sniff you and we'll see if you're a good guy."

"Hm, alright." He hesitantly sticks his hand out towards Pumpkin. I watch as Pumpkin cautiously sniffs Spencer's large hand. Then I giggle as he runs his face along his fingers.

"He likes you." I rub my hand along Spencer's back. "You're the first guy I brought home that he didn't attack."

"Well, I'm glad to hear that." Spencer leans down to give me a kiss. I smile into the kiss and I feel myself melt in happiness.

"What movie do you want to watch?" I ask.

"Anything you want."

"I only have two movies..." I pull out two CDs. "'Titanic' or 'Romeo and Juliet'?"

"Hmmm, Titanic. The CD looks more worn out so I assume you like watching that one more."

"Alright then, Mr. Profiler," I tease and push the disk into the CD player. "I'm going to change first."

"Okay." Spencer sits down on the couch.

I quickly head into my room and slip out of my clothes, grabbing a hoodie and a pair of shorts to put on. I also decide to take out my contacts and wipe off my makeup. After that, I look in the mirror—hoping that I don't look too sloppy—then walk back to the living room where Spencer is sitting on the couch. He turns his gaze to me and smiles.

I sit down next to him. "What?" I ask, feeling weird in just a hoodie and shorts without makeup.

"Nothing," answers Spencer, "you look beautiful."

"Oh, Spence. Stop lying." I laugh and gesture to my appearance.

"No, I'm not," he replies, looking serious. "You can be missing an arm and be bald and still be beautiful—on the outside and inside." I blush at his compliment and wrap my arms around his torso and lean back, making him fall back with me.

"Thank you," I whisper and kiss him on the cheek. I relax as the movie starts. Just then, Pumpkin jumps up onto Spencer's lap.

"Oh!" Spencer exclaims, as Pumpkin accidentally steps on his crotch area.

"Pumpkin!" I scold and quickly pick him up. "Are you okay?" I try to hold in my laugh.

"Yeah, yeah." Spencer chuckles. I gently place Pumpkin back in his lap and he starts petting him. A few hours later, I feel myself getting sleepy so I rest my head on Spencer's chest. He kisses the top of my head and breathes in the scent of my hair. Sighing with content, I wrap my arms around his torso and close my eyes. Then slowly, I fall into a deep, peaceful sleep....

The next morning, I wake up feeling refreshed. I blink a few times and realize that I'm on top of Spencer and our legs are intertwined. I look up at him and study his face. He looks so happy in his sleep. I close my eyes and snuggle closer to him.

"Good morning," says Spencer, his morning voice gives me butterflies in my stomach.

"Good morning." I put my hand on his chest. "Did I wake you?"

"No, no." He yawns. "What time is it?"

I reach for my phone that is on the table and check the time. "Oh, my God, it's 8:46 a.m.!" I jump up in surprise.

"Shoot! We're late for work." Spencer gets up.

"Ughhhh." I rush into the bathroom to get ready. Then after that, I go to my closet and put on the first thing I see.

"Want to carpool to work?" Spencer shouts from the living room.

"Yeah, sure!" I yell back. I'm about to run out when I see Spencer's cardigan in the pile of clothes I wore last night. I quickly grab it and exit my bedroom.

Spencer fixes his tie a bit. "You ready?"

"Yup. Thanks for letting me borrow this." I hand him his cardigan.

"No problem," he replies and we head out the door.

In 2 minutes flat, we are in the lobby and sprinting to Spencer's car. We hop in, both of us panting. After that, we head to work and somehow we manage to hit every red light. By the time we arrive, it is already 9:51 a.m. We burst into the office, gasping for breath. The elevators weren't working so we had to run up several flights of stairs.

"Yang, Reid," Hotch says sternly as he comes out of his office. "You two are late."

"Sorry!" Spencer and I apologize, still panting from all the running.

He sighs. "It's fine. Also, we have a new case." He narrows his eyes at us before walking away. Spencer and I quickly head to our desk and sit down. I watch as Morgan approaches Spencer.

"Rough night, Pretty Boy?" Morgan asks Spencer, regarding his wrinkled clothes, loose tie, and messier than usual hair. Then he looks at me, raising his eyebrows suggestively.

"No," Spencer answers quickly and glances at me.

"Mhm," Morgan mumbles sarcastically. "You and I are gonna talk about this later." He smirks and pats Spencer on the back before walking away.

"Why is he onto us?" I whisper to Spencer.

"Uh... I called him last night for some kissing advice." He looks super embarrassed and I can't help myself but laugh.

"Oh, Spence." I try to compose myself. Suddenly, I feel a tap on my shoulder, I turn around and see JJ standing behind me.

Her eyes sparkles. "You and Spencer, huh?"

"What? Who told you???" I whisper-shout, looking around suspiciously.

"After Spencer called Derek for some advice..." JJ wiggles her eyebrows, waiting for me to figure it out.

"Lemme guess, Derek told you." I roll my eyes.

"Actually... he told the whole team." JJ cringes when she sees my face turn red.

"What?!?" I shriek, and instantly regret it. I shrink down in my seat as I feel the stares of all the agents in the office on me. Before I can open my mouth to say anything else, Hotch calls us in for the conference meeting.
