Chaos

05:27, 19 March 2025

this is a few years into the future, adrian is 5, he has a little sister named ava *GASP* and kitt and blair are getting married!

sweat clings to my forehead, rolling down my neck. I'm very aware of the eyes on me, in the tiniest bra top, sweatpants hanging low on my hips, carrying one very fussy baby, and trying to corral my rowdy son into their rooms in the castle. we were staying at the castle for a few days for kitt and blair's wedding.

Adrian, being Adrian, was currently shirtless, his tiny feet padding against the stone floor as he bolted down the hall, after we went for a walk,  giggling like a little menace. "You can't catch me, Mama!"

"Oh, you wanna bet?" I shift Ava higher on my hip and take off after him, my feet barely making a sound against the floor.

"Whoa, little shadow, where's the fire?" Kitt drawls, ruffling Adrian's curls before glancing up at me with an amused smirk. "You good there, Pae?"

I exhale sharply, rocking Ava against my shoulder. "have one child who thinks he's a track star and another who won't let me put her down for two seconds."

Ava sniffles against my skin, her little hands curling into my top. Kitt leans in, wiggling his fingers at her. "Hey, princess."

Ava just glares.

Kitt chuckles, unhooking Adrian from his leg. "C'mon, kid, let's get you looking sharp. You gotta be on your A-game for Uncle Kitt's big day."

Adrian crosses his arms, his little lip jutting out. "I don't wanna wear a suit. It's itchy."

Kitt kneels down to his level. "Yeah, but you get to hold the rings."

Adrian's pout instantly vanishes. His eyes widen. "The real ones?"

Kitt nods solemnly. "The real ones. But only if you look cool."

I make my way down the hall, pushing open the door to the bridal suite. Blair is standing in front of a mirror, arms crossed.

"Took you long enough," she huffs, adjusting the tiara on her head. "I swear, if the flowers aren't the exact shade I requested, I'm going to lose my mind."

I roll my eyes, shifting Ava on my hip. "Yeah, because your wedding is obviously more important than me wrangling my feral children through a literal castle."

Blair waves a dismissive hand. "You chose to have kids."

I deadpan. "You chose to marry Kitt."

She scoffs. "Not the same thing."

Ava lets out a little whimper, and I rub her back soothingly. "So what's the problem now?"

Blair narrows her eyes. "My dress is wrinkled."

I glance at the dress. It's perfectly fine. Of course it is. "Uh-huh."

"And the caterer is late."

"Wow."

"And Kitt hasn't answered my last three messages."

I snort. "Maybe because you've sent him seventy in the last hour?"

Blair glares, but I can tell she's stressed. I sigh, softening just a little. "Look, just focus on getting through the ceremony. Kitt's obsessed with you, you're gonna be married, and the world won't end if your napkins are half a shade off."

She exhales dramatically. "I guess."

Ava grabs a fistful of Blair's dress, gurgling happily. Blair grimaces. "Keep your gremlin away from me."

"She's literally a baby."

Blair shudders. "Whatever. Just... make sure Adrian doesn't ruin the ceremony."

I smirk. "No promises."

And with that, I head back out, leaving the Blair.

Kai

"Hey, Pae," I call out, making my way toward her as she finally catches up with Adrian, who's now tangled in his own shoes.

"Please tell me you're ready for this," she mutters under her breath, wiping sweat from her forehead. "I swear, if I hear one more 'I don't want to wear the suit' today, I'm going to lose it."

I chuckle, brushing a hand through my hair. "I'm ready for the chaos. I'm assuming Kitt's got the rings?"

"Yeah," Paedyn says, eyeing the mess Adrian's made of his clothes. "He'll look like a disaster, but at least he'll get the rings."

Ava, who had been quietly observing from Paedyn's arms, suddenly starts to fuss again. Paedyn sighs, shifting the baby around.

"She's like a mini Paedyn," I say softly, reaching out to gently pat her head. "Maybe that's why she doesn't like anyone else."

"I'm convinced she'll only bond with me when she's old enough to talk. Right now, all I get is crying and some death glares."

Before I can respond, Adrian bolts out of the room again, somehow managing to slip past us.

"Adrian!" Paedyn shouts, already in full pursuit.

"I swear, I'm going to need a drink after this," she mutters as she speeds down the hall.

"I think you might need a lot," I joke, following her down the corridor as the sound of Adrian's giggles fills the air.
