Soon To Be Parents

05:39, 23 February 2025

———Ever since they found out that Sakura was pregnant, Sasuke had been making sure to make Sakura take at least two breaks every hour. Of course this made their journey a lot slower but the health and safety of Sakura and the baby were more important.

Sasuke insisted on taking her back to Konoha so that she can get the proper care that she needs and a better environment and support. However, every time he tried to talk her into going back home, she'd have an attitude towards him. Sakura told him that mood swings are a part of being pregnant and that she wasn't really ever upset with him, but it always made him feel bad when he'd upset her.

The two have also sent letters to their friends back home about the pregnancy and engagement. When their friends sent letters back, Sakura couldn't stop crying as she read them. Sasuke couldn't help but find it cute whenever she'd cry over something as simple as letters....

But as they continued to travel from village to village, Sasuke began to grow more and more paranoid. After leaving the village where Sakura found out about her pregnancy, he felt as though they were being watched — some days more than others.

Sakura also felt the same way and after telling him about how she had the same feeling when she'd left the hotel, Sasuke became more concerned with their situation. However, neither of them could sense or see anyone in the area but each other so they couldn't do much about this.

—September 1010:05 p.m.—

Sakura was sitting by a fire that she'd made while Sasuke sat up high in a tree where he could see the surrounding area a lot better. He didn't want anyone to sneak up on them so even though Sakura was alone, this was the safest thing for her.

Every night, Sakura would check on the baby to make sure that it's developing correctly and that's what she was doing as she sat by the fire. Just like the previous nights, the baby was doing just fine so she wrote a letter and gave it to Sasuke's messenger bird, to let him know of this.  Sasuke wanted to stay updated on the baby's progress and wellbeing so he asked Sakura to do this for him.

When he received the letter that the baby was fine, he smiled. Even though Sakura hadn't had complications with her pregnancy so far, it always made Sasuke feel just as happy to know that the baby is ok as the last time she'd told him.

However, being up in a tree, away from Sakura made him miss her. So the two would usually send a few letters back and forth before Sakura went to sleep. Sasuke wrote a quick letter to her and sent it with his bird.

Once the bird arrived to Sakura, she was excited to see what Sasuke said. Getting letters from Sasuke never failed to make her excited.

Sasuke's letter read:"I wish I were with you right now"

Short and simple but sweet nonetheless. Sakura smiled and immediately sent a letter back.

Sakura's letter read:"What would we do if you were here?"

She was obviously teasing him and he liked that. Sasuke responded with a letter that teased her back.

Sasuke's letter read:"What would you want me to do, Sakura?"

Sakura felt butterflies in her stomach and she felt herself getting warmer and wetter 'down there'. What Sasuke said made her recall all of the times they've had sex. As much as she wanted to respond to him right away, she couldn't stop herself from moving her hand down and touching herself.

It was taking a while for Sakura to respond and this made Sasuke curious. From what he could see, she was still looking at his letter. But then, he noticed the other thing that she was doing. He smirked, feeling proud of himself for turning her on just from writing a simple letter. Sasuke watched Sakura pleasure herself before she eventually went to sleep.

—October 27:55 a.m.—

Sasuke and Sakura were sitting by a waterfall, enjoying their morning together before they had to start walking. Sakura was still really excited about the baby and couldn't stop talking about how she was starting to show. Of course since she's only just now entering the second trimester, her baby bump is almost nonexistent but there was still a noticeable bump.

"Sasuke, we should start thinking of baby names, don't you think?" Sakura asked enthusiastically.

"Do you have anything in mind?" Sasuke asked. He wasn't really good at naming things nor did he care to. Plus, he knew that he'd love whatever name Sakura would come up with.

Sakura had plenty of names in mind but she wasn't sure which ones she liked the most. "Well I have a lot but I want to try narrowing down the options."

Sasuke nodded. "Do you know the baby's gender yet? That could narrow it down."

"Yea I do...would you like to know now or later?" she said nervously. She wasn't quite sure if he'd react positively to the gender of the baby or not so she chose not to tell him yet.

"If you're ready to tell me then I want to know now." Sasuke said as he took her hand.

Sakura smiled softly. "We're uh...we're having a daughter." she said, trying to hold in her excitement, "I hope you don't mind."

Back then, Sasuke wouldn't have been very happy to have his firstborn be a girl. But now, things were different. "I bet she'd be as beautiful as you." he said as he looked away blushing.

Whenever Sasuke would find a way to compliment Sakura, she always felt as though her heart would explode. "Well I think she'd be pretty adorable if she looked anything like you." Sakura giggled.

"Of course you'd say that." he scoffed before turning to her. "So...name ideas?"

"Oh yea! So I was thinking that maybe her name could match ours. Is that weird or...?" Sakura said.

"That's not weird." Sasuke hated whenever she'd start doubting herself. "Tell me some of the names. I'll tell you if there's any I like."

"I don't know...I was thinking something like Suki, or Saori, Seiko, Sarada, Sumiko..." Sakura started before pausing to think.

Sasuke looked at the ground and thought about the names that she'd given him. He didn't know why but he liked the way the name 'Sarada' sounded. "I like Sarada." he said as he grinned at her.

Sakura smiled back before hugging Sasuke. "Then Sarada it is!" she said excitedly.

Sasuke hugged her back and the two stayed like that for a while talking about their hopes for the baby before continuing on their journey.

—December 91:25 p.m.—

Because of the low temperatures of the winter season, Sakura deemed it as too cold for her to continue traveling in her condition. The cold weather would be bad for her and the baby. Not to mention that being 21 weeks pregnant, her bump was bigger and she'd gain weight so she got tired a lot quicker.

Sasuke managed to find a village for them to stay at for the time being. They planned on waiting out the coldest month before traveling again. Luckily, the two were in The Land of Fire so it wasn't too cold but they didn't want to chance it.

Sarada's due date was approaching and even though they were in The Land of Fire, Sakura refused to return to the village yet. But it was very important to him that they discussed how she'd deliver the baby.

Sasuke approached Sakura who was sitting by the coffee table of their hotel room, reading a book. He sat down next to her and waited for her to look at him before speaking. "Sakura, you know the baby is coming in three or four months, right?"

Sakura rolled her eyes and sighed. "I know...you don't have to remind me." she pouted.

"So you know that we're going to need a hospital, right?" he asked, "You won't be able to deliver the baby alone."

Sakura stayed silent as she looked away sadly. She knew that Sasuke was looking out for her and that it was for the best but she didn't want to go to Konoha.

Sasuke sighed. "Why are you trying to avoid going back to the village?"

Suddenly, Sakura started crying. "B-Because you'll leave me! You'll l-leave me at the village! I don't want th-that!" she cried as she tried wiping away her tears.

Once again, Sakura was overthinking and overreacting. But it wasn't her fault...it was the pregnancy. "I won't leave you. I'll always be with you..." he said as he put his arm around her and held her close.

"A-Are you sure? Do you promise?" she hugged him back, still wiping her tears.

"I swear, Sakura. Don't worry." he said. "Instead of worrying about if I'm going to leave you, just worry about what's best for the baby."

Hearing this, Sakura realized that she was prioritizing being with Sasuke over the health and birth of the baby. She broke down and started crying even more than before. "I'm g-going to be a horrible mom!" she cried.

Sasuke sighed as he rubbed her back. "You're not going to be a horrible mom. Please calm down..." he said.

"But I am!" Sakura shouted. She couldn't help but feel horrible about what Sasuke had said. She knew that he was trying to help her feel better and she wanted nothing more than to feel better. But her hormones got the best of her. "I'm sorry! I'm really sorry!"

"It's ok, Sakura..." Sasuke felt defeated. He could never figure out how to get Sakura to calm down when she got like this. Lucky for him, it didn't take long for her to cry herself to sleep.

Once Sakura fell asleep, Sasuke laid her down next to him, resting her head on his lap. He was ready for Sakura to go back to how she normally was...and most of all, he was ready for Sarada to come.———
