KILLER QUEEN

Chapter 2

I was born in space, I've never felt the sun on my face or breathed real air or floated in the water.

None of us have.

For three generations the ark has kept what's rest of the human race alive but now our home is dying and we are the last hope of mankind. One hundred prisoners sent on a desperate mission to the ground, each of us is here because we broke the law but on the ground there is no law. All we have to do is survive, we will be tested by the earth, by the secrets it hinds and most of all eachother.

We're all running through the forest, I kept near Octavia staying at her paste even though I can outrun them I decided to just stay with them. As we're running we all dodge and jump over trees I can hear all off them panting for breath but none of them stop which is good. In front of me and Octavia Monty suddenly trips.

'' Monty '' Clarke says with a hint of worry in her voice.

She and Finn help him stand while telling him to hurry but I could barley focus on that I am too busy staring down at what he tripped on.

'' Clarke '' I say

I could feel her look at me then down at what I was looking at. There in front of Monty were varies different types of bones.

The others finally notice and just stare down at the bones.

''Who are they'' Finn whispers

Clarke reaches down and pick up a deformed looking skull.

'' What are they '' she says

Octavia who is holding onto Monty panting just stares at the bones I could tell she was shocked at the site but she manages to hide it well.

'' We are so screwed'' she puffs out

We then all hear a pain filled scream which causes Clarke to drop the skull, the scream continues to echo through the forest.

'' Jasper he's alive '' Clarke whispers then starts running in the direction of the scream.

'' Clarke wait '' Finn tries but it's too late.

They all run after her while I still stare down at the bones they don't look human but in a way they do. I start to think back to last night the man I saw didn't look deformed.

I look away from the bones then start sprinting to where the others went. I see them crutching down behind a bush staring at where Jasper was moments ago.

'' He was right there'' Finn whispers frantically

'' Where is he '' Monty looks around

'' They took him '' Clarke whispers

I look around then notice a slight movement near a tree I quickly pull out an arrow and aim it near the tree waiting for it to move again.

'' Embry wh-'' I shush Octavia but keep my eyes on the area near the tree.

I could feel them all watch me, when nothing moves I put the arrow back into my bag and sigh.

'' We need to get back to the camp, you's can't be out here at night'' I order them

'' Why do you keep saying 'you's'' Clarke say as if offended

I turn to her '' Do you know how to fight, to be silent, to cover your tracks, were you trained''

She hesitates

'' Exactly, now let's go''

When we near the camp I can hear a lot of shouting Clarke seems to notice as well so her, Finn and Monty go ahead while I help Octavia because of the injury she has on her thigh.

'' Wells, let him go '' I hear Clarke shout

'' Enough Murphy'' Bellamy says

I help Octavia down the last little bit of the slop and move her towards a large bolder so she can sit down.

'' Octavia'' Bellamy says full of worry and quickly coming towards her ''Are you aright''

He looks her over then looks to me then to the others.

''Where's the food''

'' We didn't make it to Mount Weather '' Finn sits down then looks at Bellamy

'' What the hell happened out there'' Bellamy asks

'' Slight complication'' I say

Octavia lets out a little laugh while Bellamy stares at us I ignore him and bend down to check Octavia's wound.

''We were attacked'' Clarke answers

''Attacked... by what'' Wells says as he looks at Clarke.

Finn looks at Wells '' Not what ''

I stand up straight and face them '' Who ''

Finn looks at me then continues '' Turns out when the last man on the ground died on the ark he wasn't the last grounder''

'' It's true'' Clarke adds '' everything we thought we knew about the ground is wrong. There are people here, survivors. The good news is that that means we can survive. Radiation won't kill us''

Finn looks up '' The bad news is that the grounders will''

'' Where's the kid with the goggles '' Wells asks

I could see Clarke slightly hesitate '' Jasper was hit ... they took him'' she looks at him then down at his wrist.

'' Where's your wrist band'' she say while grabbing his wrist.

I watch Wells pull out of her grasp and pull his sleeve down then look towards Bellamy.

'' Ask him''

I watch Octavia look up at her brother.

Clarke steps towards him '' How many'' I could see the anger in her eyes.

'' Twenty-four and counting'' Murphy answer her.

She shakes her head in disbelief '' You idiots... life support on the ark is failing that's why they brought us down here they need to know the ground is survivable again and we need their help against whoever is out there''

''Speak for yourself'' I huff quietly.

Octavia and Bellamy being so close to me heard but I just ignored their stare and continued watching Clarke.

''If you take off your wrist bands you're not just killing them your killing us'' she finishes staring at the crowd around her.

Bellamy takes the moment of silence to step forward and look at the crowd '' We're stronger then you think, don't listen to her she's one of the privileged if they come down she'll have it good, how many of you can say the same. We can take care of ourselves. That wrist band on your arm, it makes you a prisoner and we are not prisoners anymore. They say they'll forgive your crimes, I say you are not criminals. Your fighters, survivors. The grounders should worry about us''

Shouts of agreement came.

I look back at Clarke and she shakes her head then walks away Monty following.

I was currently sitting near Octavia dabbing a wet cloth over her wound while her and Bellamy talk.

'' What the hell was it'' he asks her

''Agh'' she moans in pain.

I stop and look up at her '' Sorry ''

'' Its fine '' I wait a moment then continue cleaning it.

''I don't know the others said it looked like a giant snake'' she answers her brother.

I wrap a cloth around her thigh then tie a knot to keep it secure. I stand up still looking down at her slightly worried because so far she's the only person I consider a friend.

'' You could have been killed '' he says to her

''She would have been if Jasper hadn't jumped in and pulled her out'' Clarke walks up

I scoff in my head, No, no it's not like I didn't help her I thought angrily.

'' I don't know if you noticed Clarke but Embry saved my life as well if she didn't shoot the damn thing I most defiantly wouldn't be here'' she stares gratefully at me and I return it with a small smile.

Bellamy looks at me then the bow on my shoulder then raises an eye brow.

'' Where'd you get that'' he ask me

'' I made it ''

He was about to say something else but Octavia interrupted.

''Are you guys leaving, I'm coming to'' she starts to stand but Bellamy pushes her back down.

'' No, no way not again '' Bellamy interject.

'' He's right your legs just gonna slow us down. I'm here for you two'' Clarke says while looking between me and Bellamy.

'' Clarke what are you doing '' Wells say from behind her.

She ignores him and looks at Bellamy '' I hear you have a gun ''

He looks down and pulls up his shirt revealing a gun in the waist band of his jeans.

She then looks to me '' And you being you will help us''

I roll my eyes at her.

'' Follow me '' she says to us.

I don't move and neither does Bellamy.

'' Now why would I do that'' he says

'' I don't take orders Clarke ''I spat out

She turns and looks at me then Bellamy ''Because you want them to follow you and right now their thinking only one of us is scared'' she turns to me '' and you because as much as I don't like it you know what you're doing'' she then turns and starts to walk again.

Bellamy waits for a moment '' Murphy come with me, Atom, my sister doesn't leave this camp is that clear''

''I don't need a babysitter'' Octavia states looking at him.

'' Anybody touches her they answer to me. Let's go'' he tells Atom completely ignoring her, Atom grabs Octavia when she tries to follow.

'' You're staying here'' he tells her

''I'm gonna make your life a living hell'' she stares at him

'' Embry lets go '' Clarke yells out

'' I'll see you later Octavia '' I say then catch up with Clarke and the others. I walk to the side away from the group but stay in the middle so Clarke and Wells are to the left in front of me and Bellamy and Murphy are to the left behind me this way I can hear both conversations.

'' Those guys aren't just bullies Clarke their dangerous criminals '' I hear Wells whispers to her.

'' I'm counting on it'' she tells him.

I smile if she wanted someone dangerous she defiantly got it.

'' Since when are we in the rescuing business huh'' I hear Murphy ask Bellamy

'' The ark thinks the prince is dead and say if the princess is too they'll never come down'' Bellamy answers '' I'm getting that wrist band even if I have to cut off her hand to do it''

'' What about her '' Murphy says directing the question at me.

'' For now the princess is the main priority but if we get the chance take it'' he tells Murphy

Murphy laughs '' Trust me, after what she did to me with that knife of hers, I will''

I smirk I'd like to see you try.

'' One more thing, when we get back to camp I want you to ask around see if anyone knows anything about her'' Bellamy tells Murphy

'' Why'' I hear Murphy ask.

'' Because the only thing I know about her is her name is Embry, she's friends with my sister and after what Octavia said about her shooting the thing that attacked her she's good with weapons'' Bellamy says

They pause for a moment then Murphy asks ''What's her last name''

Not even looking at Bellamy I can tell he's getting annoyed '' I don't know but I'm gonna find out''

Bring it on Bellamy Blake

With that last thought I put my guard up and continue walking, watching everything around me.

We are all walking in complete silence... well at least I am the others are stomping around the place especially Murphy. I continue weaving in between trees and jumping over fallen branches in complete silence ignoring the others.

'' Hey, hold up what's the rush you won't survive a spear through the heart'' Bellamy say breaking the silence.

'' Put the gun away Bellamy '' Wells says when I walk past him.

''Why don't you do something about it'' I hear Murphy say

I sigh in frustration and stop walking then face them.

''Jasper screamed when they moved him if the spear struck his heart he would have died instantly, doesn't mean we have time to waste'' Clarkes says

Bellamy grabs her arm ''As soon as you take that wrist band off we can go'' he smiles at her.

She snatches her arm back ''The only way the ark is gonna think I'm dead is if I'm dead, got it''

I smile '' That can be arranged''

They all turn and look at me while I keep smiling, Clarke looked a bit uneasy at my comment but brushed it off and turns back to Bellamy. He looks away from me and down at her.

'' Brave princes'' Bellamy mocks

I can sense someone else coming from behind them '' Find your own nick name, you call this a rescue party. We got to split up, cover more ground. Clarke, Embry come with me '' Finn says.

I laugh '' I'm good by myself thanks. I'll go that way'' pointing the direction I'm going.

Finn looks unsure about me going by myself '' Are yo-''

'' Yes I'm sure like Wells said were dangerous criminals'' I cut Finn off then smile at Wells ''you should really learn how to whisper'' I look to Bellamy and smirk '' All of you'' with that last comment I leave them behind.

It didn't take me long to pick up the tracks of whoever took Jasper. I have been following little specks of blood or marks on the ground. The trail of blood led me to a small river. I crouch down and look where the blood trail ends then look around me to see if there is any other sign to where they went. I notice a footprint just before the water line, I look up towards the other side of the river. I quickly rush through the water to the other side and stare in front of me, there's blood covering the rocks and I even notice a bloody handprint.

I take the bow off my shoulders and pull out an arrow and continue following the blood trail.

Crunch

I immediately pause.

Crunch

I look to my left warily.

I see someone running in between the trees, I knew straight away that it was a grounder due to the bulky clothing. I think for a moment on whether I should follow him or not. With my mind set I quickly sprint after him but after a moment he stops. I dodge behind a tree so I can avoid being seen then slowly peek around.

A smirk forms on my face.

It's the grounder from last night.

Got you now.

I watch him for a moment then put my plan in action. I climb the tree I was hiding behind then jump from tree to tree till I was above him then slowly move down to a lower branch. I wait then jump from the tree landing right on him. The force wasn't enough to make him drop so I kick the back of his knee. While he's falling he reaches behind him and grabs my shoulder flipping me so I land in front of him I roll then stand pulling out my dagger.

I smile at him.

'' Round two ''

I bring my dagger up in front of me and wait for him to grab his weapon but strangely he doesn't.

We stare at eachother for a moment and I actually notice he's only looks a few years older then me I couldn't really see anything bar his eyes because the mask he wears hides half his face and the cloths he wears but I could tell he wasn't old.

Bang

That was a gun shot

Bang

Bellamy's gun

I look around me taking my eyes off the grounder which was a big mistake because in that moment he, again, grabs my dagger and chucks it to the floor then grabs the back of my knee and pushes me to the floor which causes me to gasp.

''Shit ''

Bang

I quickly stand and grab my knife, knowing the grounder is already gone I follow the sounds of the gunfire.

Bang Bang

I sprint towards the sound and I end up in a small clearing. I notice that Wells is holding the gun looking around him and the others are doing the same. I then notice the brushes near Bellamy move, instead of using my bow I keep a hold of my dagger. As soon as I see a large creature jump out of the bushes you could hear the whistle of my knife sawing through the air and then the thud of the knife hitting its target. The animal drops in front of Bellamy.

Bellamys heads snaps toward me and so do the others, I walk up to the creature ignoring the shocked stares and crouch down near the black cat like animal looking at how my blade is lodged into its skull. It's still breathing slightly so I reach out and pull out the dagger then bring the blade to its neck and pull it across, killing the animal, taking away its pain.

I stand and face Bellamy

'' You're welcome''

He still looked slightly shock but nodded at me with appreciation. I walk over to Wells and take the gun from him then check to see if there are any more bullets.

None.

I look up at him.

''There were five bullets, right'' I ask Wells

He nods

'' If we find another gun remind me to teach you how to shot'' I chuck the gun to the side.

We finally made it back to camp, Finn and Wells are carrying a barely alive Jasper. Bellamy and Murphy are carrying the creature I killed.

''Their back'' I hear a girl yell

I lean up against a tree and watch as Clarke immediately orders Finn and Wells to take Jasper into the drop ship but no one else is focused on them because they are all gathering around Bellamy and Murphy to see what they're carrying.

Bellamy and Murphy put the animal on the ground for everyone to see.

'' Who's hungry'' Bellamy shouts

People start cheering out in excitement for their first meal and cheer for Bellamy, most likely thinking that he killed it.

While Bellamys hugging Octavia he looks up at me and I shake my head and sit down on a nearby log which is away from the crowd.

After a few minutes I hear Clarke's voice.

'' He's stable for now but without the proper medicine-'' I hear her stop suddenly.

'' Their taking off their wrist bands for food'' she says

I stand and walk to where they were standing then look over to where Clarke's eyes are looking at.

I scoff, they actually are.

Clarke ad Finns heads snap towards me obviously not hearing me when I walked up.

Clarke looks back at the many people who are lined up waiting to get their wrist bands off and receive their food.

''No, no way, I won't do it'' she states

'' Neither will I'' I say and walk up to where the pieces of meat were.

I pick one up.

''Wo wo wo hey, what you think you play by different rules'' Murphy says which cause Bellamy to look over.

'' I thought there were no rules'' Finn says as he picks up two pieces of meat and walks away with Clarke following smiling smugly.

I look back to Bellamy and Murphy who are clearly annoyed.

'' I killed it, so I get to eat it '' I say with a monotone then walk away.
