Part 2 ~ "A Failed Attempt."

03:28, 6 December 2024

Third person POV:

Both of them remained frozen in the aftermath of chaos, neither extending a hand nor uttering a single question. Fyodor stayed quiet the whole time, though, Nikolai wasn't so grateful for that. He wanted to hear him. His voice, his passion for being alive to pursue his goal. 'And if he didn't survive, I'd do that for him, in honor of him!' He thought. 'Honor to rid of chains called 'emotions' and honor to my bestest friend.'

Nikolai, with fierce determination, wrestled the vampire off the helicopter, but it was far too late to reclaim control. He let out a maniacal, almost comical laugh as he slumped into his seat. It wasn't merely a show this time, but a sliver of his usual theatrical persona cracking under pressure. "Oh, this stupid helicopter! I never flew one..!" He laughs again before being cut off by his own thoughts.

The realization gnawed at himโ€” he had made a critical mistake. He cursed at himself, over and over. He should have teleported them out of the situation altogether. What a fool!

He could have saved him with precision and efficiency. Yet, no... where would they have landed? He was warring with himself in the split seconds that passed. Throwing Fyodor from the helicopter, though, was certainly no solution. But, it was an idea!

Thoughts flashed through his mind in rapid seconds. A desperate stunt seemed his only option now; crash the helicopter, teleport, and hope they would survive the fall. He calculated through his head with other ideas, and that seemed like the only possible one, unless, he wanted to wait until the helicopter crashes or he fucks up. Plus, he had no idea where he was going.

Nikolai then groaned dramatically, acting quickly. Nikolai moved to where Fyodor sat, gathering him up into his arms before Fyodor could say anything, Nikolai was hurling them into a series of his chaotic teleportations, throwing them from the wreckage of the helicopter with no idea where they'd land, or if they'd survive.

He kept teleporting, pushing them closer to safety, trying to match gravity's cruel pace and keep them both from death.

Dazai glanced upward at the night sky, Chuuya beside him, and Dazai murmured, "Oh, darn.." He turned his way to Chuuya and smiled "Think you'd do something as bizarre as that for me, Chuuya?"ย

In the frenzy of it all, Nikolai eventually touched down with ground underneath his feet. But, of course, not without consequence, gravity and force had scattered everything, including Fyodor, who had been his central focus. Despite the dread gnawing at him, Nikolai resisted the rising panic. His emotions are chains to him, no matter what. And, he was going to get them off.ย

He had landed somewhere random in France, an unknown location, Fyodor not being there filled him with unease.

As he searched the unfamiliar ground, whistling, rather annoyed, he couldn't find him in this mess! His eyes then fell upon something that froze him in place. His heart plummeted as if it had been buried six feet under. There, amidst the wreckage, was an arm. He knew immediately whose it was. But, he had hoped it'd been Dazai's.ย

It was Fyodor's arm, smeared in his dark, glorious blood.

Nikolai bent down, cradling the dismembered limb with unsettling reverence. His fingers traced the contours of Fyodor's hand.. delicate, perfect, now in his grasp, but at what cost? He scolded himself, he truly believed he could save him.

His beloved wasn't just meat to him, he was all, he was everything. He was a lot, and that might mean that he could've been a piece of meat for Nikolai to gnaw on, but he admits that's out of character. Even for him, it really depends on the situation. Not now, definitely.

A bitter laugh escaped him as he raised the hand to his lips, unable to resist. He drank in the blood, it was sweet, yet dark enough to rot his soul.ย

Nikolai pressed the hand against his face. "Dos-kun... I.." he murmured, the words drenched in self-loathing. He collapsed to his knees, the weight of his realization pressing down on him.

It hit him like a bus. He didn't truly want Fyodor dead. Of course he didn't, that's why he tried to kill him the first place. To get rid of these blasphemous feeling so they can steer their way into the bright future they both want to see.

Fyodor was the only one who ever truly understood him, the only one who saw him for who he was. He was more than just a companion. He was an intimate friend, a soul intertwined with his. Nikolai cherished that, perhaps more than he ever realized. It stirred something deep within him, a feeling he couldn't ignore. He loved him, in all his complexity and brilliance.

But now, it's just.....

He held back his tears, but he sat there and cradled the arm for a little bit. It was like spending time with Fyodor's dead body, with silence. He thought, if he was here, he'd have a reaction. He thought about it more to calm his nerves, maybe he would let him just kiss his hand. Something about him tells Nikolai that he wouldn't see that as a sign of weakness, but respect, along with an unknown amount of affection for him.

In this adventure, it wouldn't stay unknown for long, something would come out. It was bound to happen to Nikolai. Not because of his luck but, he's a human. No matter how much he devoted himself to be free, to be nothing.

After he was done feeling as emotional, he kissed the middle of his hand and stood up. Shaking off the paralyzing weight of his grief, Nikolai forced himself back to his feet. There was still hope, he told himself. He had to find Fyodor's body, had to believe that his friend might still be alive, even if the odds were grim. He ran through the wreckage, desperately searching, his heart pounding with a singular, fervent desire, to save the one person who mattered, to everything.
