« Chapter Thirteen - The light »

02:42, 27 October 2020

I awoke suddenly, gasping for air, shocking my family gathered round me.

"Madison," my husband was the first to speak, his voice hoarse, it was clear he had been crying.

The memories all rushed back to me at once, causing tears to well up in my eyes.

"Charlie, my mum," his eyes widened before his face softened as he rushed to hold me, pulling me into a warm embrace as I sobbed.

"Is it over? Please tell me it's over," I hiccupped, looking around the group.

"It's over," Percy confirmed and I sobbed louder, this time relieved.

"Never do that again, we almost lost you," Charlie let out a shaky breath and i swallowed thickly, giving him a weak smile as I wiped away the tears gathering in his eyes.

"It's all my fault," the shaky voice of Fred made my head whip around to face him. I shakily got to my feet and walked over to him, taking him into my arms.

"Don't you dare blame yourself, Freddie, I'm ok. See? You're safe and that's all that matter's to me," I smiled, comforting him and smiling as the other Weasleys joined the hug, finding comfort in their embraces before sitting down once again, accepting the water Mr Weasley handed me with a smile.

I looked up just in time to see my dad and Roger walk over and at the sight of me awake an healthy looking, more tears escaped their already puffy faces. I jumped to my feet and immediately brought them both into a tight hug.

"I'm so glad you two are alright," I sighed, my heart aching as they held onto me tighter.

"Madison, your mum-,"  Dad choked out but I cut him off.

"I know," I spoke, a lump forming in my throat as i put on a brave face, smiling at the two, the broken hearted look on my younger brother's face making me choke up, bringing him into another hug and letting him cry into my shoulder as I glanced at my father.

"Let's get you home, I'll take Chester to the manor," He whispered and I nodded, turning towards Charlie and he got up wrapping an arm around my waist as I let go of Roger. He apparated us home and I immediately made my way upstairs with Charlie to see my babies as my dad and Roger whisked Chester to the Manor through the floo network after a quick hug and goodbye to us.

I stood staring at the sleeping figures of my darling babies as Charlie hugged me from behind, gazing at them with me and for the first time in a long time, I felt contentment as I realised they were safe and the war was finally over.

"Sleep well my sweethearts, I love you,"
