« Chapter Ten - My darlings »

"Oh my merlin they're adorable!"

"Lillian looks exactly like you when you were a baby Maddie! I'm stealing you all!"

It had been a couple weeks since the triplets were born. Fred and George were having lots of fun nursing Fabian and Gideon, whispering about how much mischief they were going to get up to while Chester was literally tearing up over Lillian because she held his finger and smiled. I wasn't going to tell him it was a reflex, I just let him have his moment.

"Would you like to feed them?"I chuckled as they nodded eagerly. I had used a breast pump to put milk into bottles earlier in the day because I knew I wouldn't be able to pry my babies from their over excited Uncles long enough to feed them.

I handed each of them a bottle Charlie had warmed using a spell and I couldn't help but Aw at the sight so I grabbed my camera and snapped a photo of the three of them. When the moving picture came out of the camera I showed it to Charlie before sticking it on the wall with the rest of the photos.

A little while later, after the overly excited uncles are long gone and the little angels had gone to bed, I began to contemplate what I was going to do if a real war did start. It wasn't as though there were many babysitting wizards, and even if there were, would I even trust them?

"Oh no you don't, I know that look," Charlie snapped me out of my thoughts and I rolled my eyes, turning my body around in my chair as I raised my eyebrow at him.

"And what look would that be Mr Weasley?" I spoke in a posh accent, nodding as he gestures towards the kettle.

"The 'I'm overthinking every single detail of something I don't even know is gonna happen and giving myself a headache' look, Mrs Weasley," he snarked and I mocked him back.

"Alright, alright, maybe I was, though in my defence, I'm a mother now, I have an excuse to worry over every little detail!"

"Yeah, what was your excuse for every other year of your life before a couple weeks ago?" he smirked, handing me my tea and taking the seat next to me, wrapping his arm around me as I lay my head on his shoulder, finding comfort in his embrace and smell.

Damn, I chose well. Well done me. I took a sip of the tea and hummed.

"I knew there was a reason I married you," I nodded in approval at the tea, making him laugh.

"You definitely didn't marry me for my tea darling and we both know that, our little angels upstairs are proof of that," he smirked and I gasped with a laugh.

"Charles Weasley! You kiss your mother with that mouth!?" I snorted, punching him lightly on the arm.

"You signed up for this when you married me,"

"Ah yes, I'm fully aware of that now," I hummed, placing a soft kiss on his lips, smiling lightly as I cupped his cheek, pushing the hair out of his eyes.

"Good, because I'm not going anywhere, you can bet on that," he swore, pressing our foreheads together, the same goofy smile I fell in love with plastered across his face.

...and all was well, all was content in those few moments... until my brother appeared from the fireplace and spoke the words I had been fearing for so long.

"The war, it has begun."
