Not Hungry

"Rae, Rae. Can you hear me Rae?" I hear someone calling, pulling me into consciousness.
I peel open my eyes and squint in the harsh light of the med bay.
"What happened?" I groan, my head pounding profusely.
I manage to sit up and see Caitlin, Cisco and Barry standing next to me, all with worried expressions on their faces.
"You fainted after using your powers to set the target on fire. We think you used too much energy at once and completely overwhelmed yourself," Barry explains.
I nod slowly, my vision swarming at the small movement.
"You hit your head on the ground when you collapsed and have a mild concussion. You should stay in bed for a couple of hours and just take it slowly," Caitlin says, giving me a warm smile before walking out of the room.
Once she's out of sight, I quickly stand up and pull on my jacket that was folded on the edge of the bed.
"Rae, Caitlin said to stay in bed," Cisco exclaims. I huff.
"Don't worry, I feel fine. Anyway, did you really expect me to lie in bed all day?" I question. I have to figure out a way to stop Thawne in 2 weeks!
Without waiting for an answer from Barry or Cisco, I quickly leave the med bay.
"Where are you going?" Barry calls after me.
"Big Belly burger," I reply before leaving the cortex. Technically I Didn't lie, after stopping by the time vault I will go to Big Belly Burger.
Making sure nobody's following me, I quickly use my...Thawne's speed to speed into the time vault.
"Gideon," I call out.
"Good afternoon Raelynn," Gideon replies in her usual cheery voice as she appears.
"How did team Flash defeat Eobard Thawne?" I ask her.
"The Flash defeated him by teaming up with The Arrow and Firestorm. They overpowered him and locked him in the pipeline," she replies.
I groan, that doesn't help at all.
"Is there any way to stop Thawne from taking over my body?" I ask her.
"I'm afraid Eobard Thawne has ordered me to not tell you that," she replies. I bury my face in my hands in defeat.
"What if I locked myself in the pipeline. Would that stop the process?" I ask, crossing my fingers.
"The pipeline only has the ability to dampen metahuman powers. As the process does not use dark matter, the pipeline won't do anything to stop it," she says.
"Rae, what are you doing here?" Barry's voice causes me to quickly whip around.
"I...I," I stutter, completely lost for words.
"What were you talking to Gideon about?" Barry ask suspiciously, narrowing his eyes at me. I swallow hard.
"Gideon," Barry calls.
"Good afternoon Barry," Gideon says.
"What were you and Rae talking about?" He asks.
"Rae asked me how you and team Flash previously defeated Eobard Thawne also known as the Reverse Flash," she answers. I breath rapidly and take a step back, preparing to make a run for it.
"Why did she want to know that?" Barry questions.
No, if I run for it I'll just look guilty, and reveal that I have speed.
"Umm, I was just curious," I lie, trying to calm my shaky breathing.
"Look Rae. I know it must be hard for you, knowing the man that threatened you and stabbed your leg is still out there but we're doing everything we can to find him and I'm sure he'll show up eventually," Barry reassures me, putting his hand on my shoulder.
I nod and give a small smile. He grins back.
"So, Cisco and I are heading over to Big Belly Burger to get some lunch, do you want to come with?" Barry asks. I hesitate.
"Umm, maybe next time. My head is still a bit sore from earlier," I tell him, not lying about this. My head really is pounding.
"Ok, sure. Should we bring you something back?" Barry asks. I shake my head.
"It's fine," I reply. He looks a bit unsure but leaves anyway.
"Not feeling hungry?" A voice asks in my head. I groan. Great, Thawne's back.
"Why are you so disappointed?" Thawne asks in his usual annoying voice.
"Where did you go?" I ask him, irritated.
"Nowhere, I just decided to take a nap for a bit, your head is awfully annoying," he replies. I narrow my eyes.
"Well, feel free to go back to sleep now," I tell him, causing him to chuckle.
"Who are you talking to Raelynn?" Gideon asks. Great, now even the AI thinks I'm crazy.
"Thawne," I reply curtly, "You can go now Gideon. Oh, and can you not tell anyone about the conversation I was having with you, or about Thawne." She nods her big head.
"Of course, Raelynn," she replies before disappearing. I sigh before deciding to head back to the cortex. I totally lied when I said I wasn't hungry.
I walk into the cortex to see Caitlin sitting by one of the computers, Cisco and Barry must still be out getting food.
"Rae, I thought I told you to stay in bed," Caitlin scolds me as she turns in her seat to face me.
"Sorry, I got bored," I tell her with a small shrug.
"So, what are you doing?" I ask her curiously as I take a seat next to her.
"I'm doing some inventory for the archives," She tells me as she continues to type away on the computer. I nod and we fall into silence.
I swivel around in my chair a couple of times, seeing how long it will take till I get dizzy when I sense Barry and Cisco's heat signatures coming down the elevator.
"Barry and Cisco are back," I announce as I lean back in my chair.
"Why do you say...?" Caitlin starts to ask before she is interrupted by Cisco.
"We got food!" He announces. Caitlin shoots me a questioning look.
"I can sense heat signatures," I say with a shrug.
Barry and Cisco walk over to us and pull up chairs on the opposite side of the large desk before they start to share out the food.
"Here," Barry says as he hands me some fries and a burger.
"Barry, I said I don't want any," I protest but he gives me a look.
"Cisco told me you didn't have anything to eat last night or the night before," Barry says before pushing the food closer to me with a stern look.
I huff but eat a fry anyway.
"Why haven't you been eating?" Caitlin exclaims with a look of worry.
"I've been so busy that sometimes I forget to eat," I say with a shrug, trying to play it off.
"Busy with what? It's not like you go to school or anything," Cisco says through a mouthful of food.
"Just stuff," I mumble as I eat another fry. Trying to stop Thawne has been taking up most of my time.
"Speaking of that, I was thinking maybe we should enrol you in school," Caitlin announces suddenly, causing me to choke on a fry.
"School?" I exclaim with wide eyes. Caitlin nods.
"That isn't a bad idea. Don't you want to get a high school qualification and be able to study and get a job one day?" Barry asks. I hesitate.
When Joss and I first broke out of jail I really did want to further study one day but with Thawne back, I don't think school is the best idea.
"I'll have to think about it," I say quietly after a moment. We all sit in a kind of awkward silence for a second before Cisco speaks up.
"So, Jitters trivia night is coming up," he announces excitedly, "It's tomorrow night at 7 and if you're all free I was thinking we could all go and get some Team Flash bonding time."
Barry and Caitlin grin.
"That sounds great Cisco. Rae, Do you want to come with us?" Barry asks me. I hesitate.
"Say yes," Thawne says in my head, startling me. I forgot about him.
"Why do you want me to say yes?" I question him in my head.
"Just say yes," he growls and I start to get a migraine, causing me to wince.
"Rae?" Caitlin asks, concerned.
"Sorry, I just spaced out. That sound great," I tell them with a hopefully convincing smile.
Cisco grins widely and pumps his fist in the air.
"One hundred dollars worth of coffee, here we come!"

That chapter was a bit longer than the others. I hope you enjoyed that.
What do you think of her possibly going to school? At least this chapter ended on a happier note. ;)
