I sit on a park bench in a small park, watching the sun set.

I've been here for a couple of hours now.

I watch as the happy families play with their children on the playground.

I stand up with a sigh and hop out of the park in the direction of Jitters.

I can't remember my parents but from what people have told me they were the nicest people on earth. They were also both madly in love with each other.

I almost had the perfect family, almost.

I enter Jitters and order myself a Killer frost. It is a mint hot chocolate. Christmas is only a month away now and the weather has started to get colder.

I pay for the hot chocolate with the $50 from Curtis and find an empty table in the corner.

I know that Thawne was just trying to manipulate my feelings but it totally worked.

I am a liability, a flea. I haven't done anything to prove myself to the team at all so far.

I sigh and put my head in my arms. What am I going to do?

"here's your Killer Frost," the barista girl says as she puts down a mug in front of me.

I mumble a thank you and she walks off.

I finish my hot chocolate quickly, burning my tongue slightly.

I need to get a job so that I can earn money and eventually rent my own place. I feel even worse having to stay in Caitlin's house.

I grab my crutches and hop over to the counter.

"Umm excuse me? You wouldn't happen to be hiring, would you?" I ask her curiously. She gives a warm smile.

"As a matter of fact we are looking for some more help," she says with a smile.

"Would you be willing to hire me?" I ask her cautiously. She eyes my crutches for a minute.

"I only need the crutches for a couple of more weeks," I tell her. She nods.

"Until then you could just work at the register," she says.

"So, you're going to hire me?" I ask anxiously. She jods and gives me a big smile.

"Come in tomorrow morning around 12 to sign the contract," she says. I grin and thank her before hopping out of Jitters.

My day seems to be finally looking up.

......................

I hop into Caitlin's apartment 10 minutes later. I wonder if she's home yet?

I shiver at the cold apartment and turn up the heating. The weather is getting super cold.

I look around the apartment but Caitlin isn't here yet. She must be working a late shift at S.T.A.R Labs.

I change into my fluffy pj's and grab a pile of warm blankets before plopping down on the couch to watch some movies.

I yawn as I put on an episode of BBC Merlin. I snuggle deep into the blankets and allow the sounds of Arthur shouting at Merlin lull me to sleep.

......................

I wake with a jolt to the sound of the kettle boiling. I look at the kitchen to see Caitlin standing there, making herself some coffee.

"Good morning, Rae," Caitlin greets me when she sees I'm awake.

"Morning," I mumble back, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.

"Cisco wants to practice using your powers a bit more today," Caitlin comments.

"I don't know..." I start to protest, trailing off.

"Cisco set up a whole training simulation for you last night. It took him hours," she says, guilting me into it.

"Fine, I'm just going to go get dressed," I tell her. She nods and I hop towards my room to get ready.

......................

Caitlin and I arrive at S.T.A.R Labs 20 minutes later.

I'm wearing a plain, grey t-shirt and a pair of leggings underneath my pile of jackets.

Caitlin was convinced that two sweatshirts, my Jean jacket and a puffer jacket would be too hot but if anything I'm still cold.

We walk into the speedlab where Cisco is busy setting up...Something.

Caitlin leaves to go do inventory in the med bay so I hop over to Cisco.

"What are you working on?" I ask him curiously.

"I have a theory that I want you to try out," he tells me excitedly. He asks me to sit down in one of the yoga mats which I do and to close my eyes.

"OK, I programmed these targets to pop up around you and I want you to sense where they're going to be and to hit them with fire blasts," Cisco tells me.

I open my eyes at this and stare at him. "How am I supposed to do that? I don't have the force master Obi," I tell him. He rolls his eyes.

"I think that using your powers you should be able to sense heat signatures so I equipped each target with a heat pack," he explains.

It sounds like a long shot but I decide to try anyway because if it does work it would be pretty epic.

I close my eyes and instead of finding the heat within myself I branch outwards. I find multiple heat sources around me.

I feel one pop-up a couple of feet away from me and I blast it with my fire. Another one pops up in front of me and I blast it as well.

I spread outwards more and can sense someone entering the room.

I open my eyes and see that Barry is walking in. I grin, that is pretty epic.

"What are you two doing?" Barry asks curiously.

"Training," Cisco tells him.

I stand up and grab my crutches before I walk over to the computers where Cisco and Barry are standing.

"How was it?" I ask Cisco. He grins as he chews on a twizzler.

"It was epic! When you sensed it could you literally see the heat signatures?" Cisco asks curiously.

"Wait, you can see heat signatures?" Barry exclaims.

"Well I can't see them it's more of like... it's hard to explain. I can just feel that something is there," I try to explain.

"Like I could sense when Barry walked into the room," I tell them. Barry and Cisco grin.

"That would be so helpful on missions, to be able to tell if there are any people still trapped in a burning building," Barry says.

I smile. I can finally be of some use to the team!

"I did notice that your blasts weren't as powerful as they normally are," Cisco comments.

"Yeah, it was like there wasn't enough heat to draw out of myself," I explain. Barry nods.

"That makes sense. With the weather getting colder it means you won't have as much body heat to use," Barry explains.

"So, cold is my weakness?" I ask. Barry nods.

"Guess we have the same weakness."

"Why is cold your weakness?" I ask.

"Cold slows down molecules," He explains. I nod. I peer over his shoulder and my eyes widen when I see the time on the computer.

"It's 12.13?" I exclaim. Barry and Cisco both nod.

"Yeah, why?" Cisco asks. I have to go to Jitters to sign the contract!

"I just remembered I have something I have to do. Be back later!" I call as I grab my crutches and hop as quickly as I can out of the room, leaving a confused Barry and Cisco in my wake.
