Chapter 12

04:58, 13 April 2019

Chloe was in trouble again. Her dad couldn't know why she was late, so he grounded her more. Chloe was so annoyed. It wasn't fair that she should get grounded when she was actually needing to defend Paris.

It seems like even though she knew her dad was just scared and worried about her, he was also trying to trap her in this stupid hotel. Chloe thought she was getting Claustrophobic.

Chloe sighed, and went over to her vanity and looked in the mirror. She looked the same as she always did, but something was different.

Chloe couldn't put her finger on it, so she turned away, and sat on her bed. She was supposed to have dinner with her dad tonight, but as always, he bailed on her.

Chloe just laid on her bed, and tried to sleep.

The next morning, Chloe changed, and went in her limo. It was going to be a bit of a ride. Today was the dance, and she hoped someone would ask her. If not then that would just be insulting.

Chloe put on her headphones, and played "What Is This Feeling?" From Wicked. It was probably what most people thought about her, Chloe mused when it got to the line 'loathing. unadulterated loathing".

When she got to school, though she was undoubtedly not going to get asked, Chloe couldn't help feeling a flicker of hope, that someone, just someone, might hear the silent call and ask her, not from pity, but from actually wanting to.

Chloe put her stuff in her locker, and went to her class. She sat down next to Sabrina, who was still mad. Sabrina turned away from Chloe, and huffed. Chloe felt a sharp pain as though someone had stabbed her with a knife. Of course now she had no friends. She had heard the things people say behind her back.

"Spoiled brat just because shes the mayors daughter!"

"Shes so selfish and snobby"

"I heard that she never gets in trouble, because daddy's always there to save her from getting in any trouble. What the heck!"

Of course, Chloe thought. Of course they would say these things because it's true, but it's not entirely her fault. It was the only way she had ever known. Be mean and you don't get hurt, act like it doesn't hurt, always keep that smile, never let anyone know just how much your breaking inside.

What nobody said though, is that keeping yourself out made you forget how humane in nature you are, and it makes you forget yourself. Only recently had Chloe begun to open her eyes to her ways, and attempt change. Being Queen Bee gave her a sense of responsibility, and a way to find herself again.

Chloe had studied and worked so hard last night to get a lot of pages done to surprise Nathaniel. He was in his seat, his red hair draped over his face like a curtain. Chloe stood up and went over to him, and handed him the hours worth of pages she had written herself.

"Here you go, Nath. I barley got any sleep, but it was worth it" Chloe joked. Nathaniel smiled.

"Hey Chloe, I need to ask you something"
