Fishy

"Don't you think Gen is a little weird these days?" Chrome asked all of sudden.

Chrome, Kohaku, and Suika were enjoying ramen by the three near the ramen stall. Actually there were more people, but three of which gathered in one circle. The girls got confused by the boy's sudden question as they didn't realize a think. "What do you mean by weird?" Kohaku asked back, with a little suspicion in her mind. Suika listened while eating her noodles.

"Gen always ask me to switch places....."

"WHAT? Between top and bottom?!" Kohaku shouted even before Chrome finished his story.

"HAH? Why top and bottom?"

"What's top and bottom?" Suika was also getting confused.

Kohaku stuttered. It was nothing close to what she had imagined. "Ah, nothing, sorry. Please continue, Chrome."

Chrome was still puzzled but continued, "He always wants me to work in the lab and he helps Kaseki with the water turbine instead. I can do that for one day or two, but not every day. The turbine is still need supervision from the scientist after all. I also need to be there. However, Gen seems to be really bothered if I refuse to go to the lab."

"Does he hate to work in lab?" Suika wondered.

"But I think Gen was the type who love indoor activity more. Especially, now is winter. Someone like Gen who gets cold easily, will choose to work inside the lab rather than working by the river." Kohaku tried to analize Gen's behaviour then soon realized that that Sneaky Little Rat had been indeed strange.

"Well, I think Gen rarely stays in Kingdom of Science nowadays. He spends his time more in the village with the children and elders than before." Suika added.

"See?? My hunch won't be wrong," Chrome said as he put his empty bowl and raised his index. "Or is he actually a spy from Tsukasa Empire?"

Suika frightened. "No! Gen is not mean and not kind. He is part of Kingdom of Science. He said himself to the evil guys back then." Even though she said that Gen was not kind, Suika and the children actually liked Gen.

"Well, Suika... But there's a possibility. Maybe he avoided Senku so he can spy more." Kohaku was also suspicious. Unlike Suika, she didn't really like Gen. He was hard to read and they couldn't actually predict his action, or whether he told the truth or lies. 

Chrome could see that Suika was about to cry. "But... He invited us to see the New Year's sunrise. And he even made a surprise for Senku's birthday. Doesn't he actually like us?"

Kohaku silenced. Suika had a point and it made her more confused. Gen was indeed an annoying man, but the village was more livened up since he came. She wouldn't deny that he worked well as a mentalist to the Kingdom of Science.

Then an idea passed through Chrome's mind. "Why don't we interrogate him? We must know his reason or else Ishigami Village would be in more danger."
