Chapter 10 | Trapped
19:24, 27 March 2024——————————CHAPTER 10Trapped——————————
"Suga!" Anger was apparent on Daichi's voice, making you push your ex-boyfriend away. You shakily took a deep breath before raising your head to meet his gaze, only to regret it right away.
His eyes were filled with pain and longing, sadness was evident, and yet he still smiled at you warmly. You then averted your eyes, regretting it once more when you met the glares of your former team.
You knew why they were angry, you understood why they hated you... you knew it full well, but your heart still broke. It still hurt, and the memories came back and haunted your mind, breaking you even more as you got filled with guilt and regret.
"Come here, Suga!" Daichi's stern voice echoed once more, his forehead creased in obvious disapproval.
Kōshi sighed, turning his back on you before he walked away and met back with his team. You watched as they all walked towards the other side of the gym, your eyes then meeting a pair of light brown eyes and short blonde hair. She was unfamiliar, so you figured she must be a new manager. She looked at you with a mix of confusion and concern before jogging back to her team when the elder manager called her, who you refused to look at.
Your heart was just clenching too much that it was getting hard to breathe. You've been running away, not knowing how to deal with everything now that it's in front of you again. Tears formed at the corner of your eyes, and even when you could hear the juniors of Nekoma's team asking if you were okay, you couldn't speak as a lump had form in your throat.
You tried so hard to hold back your tears as you hated crying in front of anyone, but when your eyes found Kuroo's cold ones, it was the end of your control.
Clutching on your shirt tightly, you ran out of the gym. You ran away, again. You heard Kenma call you, but you didn't stop. Your things were left behind, and that included your valued laptop and drawing tablet, as well as your sketch book that you didn't want anyone to see. You even left your phone. But then, those didn't matter at the moment anymore. You just wanted to get away, away from everyone.
As soon as you stepped out of the gym, tears streamed down from your eyes endlessly, and sobs escaped your mouth. You wandered aimlessly in the unfamiliar school grounds of Fukurodani, and finding what looked like a storage house, you hurriedly hid yourself inside, thanking whoever conveniently left it open.
You slammed the door close behind you, leaning against it as you slid down the floor and hugged yourself. It was hard to breathe, and you couldn't stop yourself from crying. Sugawara kept on coming into mind, then Kuroo's cold eyes.
"Damn it..." You cursed yourself, leaning forward until you were lying down on the cold, dirty floor. "Why did they have to be here?!"
You crawled towards the other side of the storage house, finding more comfort away from the door. Still crying, you laid down on the floor again, and cried yourself until you fell asleep from tired eyes.
W
hen you woke up again, it was already dark. Light was no longer peeking from the small window above the door. You panicked for a moment, but then remembering why you were there, you sighed. Standing up and deciding to go home, you weakly strolled towards the door and slid it open.
Or at least, you tried to. Your attempt failed when it wouldn't budge at all.
It was locked.

After practices were over, some teams went to their designated rooms, some decided to shower first while the managers prepared dinner. Kenma felt like it was his obligation to bring your stuff home, all of them assuming you were already there. He called his mother instead, knowing you left your phone in your bag and won't be able to answer.
It took three attempts before she finally answered. "Yes, sweetie?"
"Mom, could you ask (Y/N) if I could bring her stuff home tomorrow instead?" He murmured.
"(Y/N)? Wait a second—" He heard shuffling from the other line which he assumed was his mother going upstairs. "(Y/N)? Are you there?" He heard knocks, more shuffling and heavy footsteps. "Dear, do you know where our niece is?" Kenma remained quiet as he listened to the noise from the other line, getting impatient and wanting to play his games instead. "(Y/N)? She hasn't come home yet. Isn't she with Kenma?" At this, the blonde frowned. He wondered where might you be when it's been around 5 hours since you ran out.
"Hello, baby? She's not here. Oh god, did she go off somewhere again?! That child...!" His mother irritatedly spoke from the other line.
"Ah, it's alright. She's here now, just got back. Sorry for the bother. Thanks, mom." Kenma ended the call after making up an excuse for you, his heart beat being faster and he can't help but feel anxious and worried. You didn't have your phone, and you weren't home. There was no way to contact you, and he had no idea where you went or if you were safe.
As soon as he did, he hurriedly ran towards Nekoma's room, slamming the door open which was very unusual of him. This action earned everyone's attention, seeing how their usually quiet and reserved setter seemed worried about something, and the fact that he actually ran.
His eyes searched the room, unintentionally ignoring Shōyo who's been waiting for him. When he finally found the person he was looking for, he marched over to him. "Kuro!"
"What's wrong, Kenma?" The black-haired male tiredly asked. His thoughts has been bugging him since Karasuno appeared. He kept on wondering why you never told him about your relationship with them, especially when he asked Daichi about you. He was more surprised when he found out that your ex was actually one of them, and he can't stop himself from being jealous when Sugawara hugged you earlier. Because of that, he felt cold and distant.
The blonde caught his breath, the worry not disappearing from his face. "(Y/N)... hasn't come h..home yet." He uttered between his panting.
That sentence alone was enough to change the expression on the captain's face. He frowned worriedly, abruptly standing up. "Are you sure?!"
Kenma nodded, finally recomposing himself. "My dad was home the whole day, and he said she hasn't come home."
"Fuck—" Kuroo cursed loudly, running a hand through his hair. "—Where the hell could she be?!"
"Have you tried calling her?" Yaku asked, involving himself with the two. The other members were beginning to be worried as well, specially since it was already night time.
"She left her phone in her bag."
A certain orange-haired boy was confused, but he was able to at least follow up on their conversation. Although he never personally met you, there wasn't a day that he won't hear your name from his team. Sugawara told him a lot about you, and pretty much all the first years knew about your existence even when you haven't met them. He tried to speak, but his voice was overpowered by the others suggesting ways to contact you or where you might be, so instead, he walked out of the room and headed to Karasuno's designated classroom to ask them.
Kuroo couldn't keep his cool, shouting frustratedly as he marched out of the room. He only grabbed his jacket, hastily wearing it as he yelled, "I'm going to look for her!"
It was easier said, but he didn't even have any idea where to start.
"Wait, Kuroo-san! We'll help too!" A few members volunteered and followed after him.
Somehow, Sawamura and some others from Karasuno found out about it and they also helped, but Kuroo didn't question that for the meantime. All that mattered was finding you soon, because his heart felt like it's going to burst out if he can't find you in another minute.
"W-What if she's just, uh... relaxing somewhere?" He heard Hinata ask from behind.
"No, it's (Y/N) we're talking about. She hates going out more than anything. If she's not at home, there's no other place she could be." Kenma answered.
Kuroo continued to walk, taking large and heavy steps. He kept on thinking of any place you could possibly be, but his mind was in disarray and he couldn't think of anything.
"Any news?" He met up with Daichi's group, who was composed of him, Sugawara, Tanaka, and Nishinoya. The Karasuno captain shook his head. "We checked places around the area, but she's nowhere."
"Aren't you guys just overthinking this?"
That was a possibility, but Kuroo just felt unsettled. He wanted to make sure you were safe, and he's just getting more and more frustrated every passing second. Meanwhile, for the Karasuno team, they were just afraid that you ran away again and disappeared, just like you did once.
"Oi!" A masculine voice called them, and they turned to see Yamamoto running towards their direction. "I have news!"
When the second year finally reached them, Kuroo's patience was getting shorter as he waited for the mohawk to stop panting and speak.
"Bokuto-san heard someone calling for help from a storage house behind the building, so we checked it out just in case, but it was locked. We're still waiting for the guard, but I think it's (Y/N)-san."
Kuroo nodded, thanking him before running off to where the storage house was. The others ran after him as well, and upon arrival, they found the guard unlocking the door while he muttered irritated curses. Bokuto was also there, as well as Akaashi.
Nekoma's captain rushed to the storage as soon as it was unlocked, asking the guard to move aside and ignoring his reprimanding words.
His eyes searched the dark room, softening when he saw you crouching on the floor, shaking and crying. You looked so scared and tired. You sniffled as you looked up at him. "K-Kuroo..."
Standing up, your legs wobbled as you walked towards him and leaned against his chest with your trembling body.
It was the first time Kuroo had seen that expression on you, and it pained him already. He never wanted to see it again. He wrapped his arms around your figure, patting the back of your head in a comforting manner. "I'm right here, (Y/N)." He whispered. He pulled you closer, planting a kiss on the top of your head.
Sugawara could only watch, his heart shattering at the sight and the realization that someone else had stolen your heart. He looked down and clenched his fists, keeping his tears from falling as he felt Sawamura place a hand on his shoulder comfortingly.
You sobbed, closing your eyes when you started to feel dizzy. Your whole body felt weak since you haven't eaten, and all those tears you cried drained you, as well as the suffocation in the small and dirty room. Your sniffles weakened and your body limped backwards, then your vision blacked out.
Good thing, Kuroo had his arms around you, successfully catching you from falling to the ground. He looked at you worriedly, shaking you a little. "Oi?"
When you still didn't respond, he frowned. "She passed out." He muttered, crouching down slowly while still holding you. He moved your back to one arm, then slipping a hand under your thighs as he lifted you up.
