Your forehead scrunched as you slapped your arm, trying to get rid of the insect that's been disturbing your sleep. It was bad enough that your bed was hard and the air wasn't cold, now there just had to be something bugging you.
"Hey, wake up."
You felt yourself being lightly shook, making you even more annoyed. "Let me sleep, damn it!" You uttered, your eyes still closed as you shifted to the other direction.
"This is why you should get proper sleep at your home."
Silence followed, and you were thankful that the poking on your arm and light shaking of your body finally stopped. Although your sleep has been disturbed and your mind was starting to awake, you still kept your eyes close and tried to continue your slumber.
"Hey, if you don't wake up now I might just do something inappropriate to you." You heard a voice say, close to your ear that brought shivers down your spine. Were you dreaming? Definitely not.
"(Y/N)-chan~" The same masculine voice purred, and you felt a presence hovering over your body that was lying sideways.
'Wait a second—' Your eyes snapped open, realizing your current location. You weren't at home, not on your bed, and there was someone on top of you.
Turning your head, your eyes widened at the close face — too close and too handsome — and you gasped.
"WHAT—" Before you could even scream, his hand cupped your mouth.
"You're finally awake, now please shut up or we'll get caught here." The black-haired male uttered, giving you an irritated smile. "I stayed back and volunteered to clean up just to keep you hidden, you know?"
You squirmed from his grip, the red warning alarm still ringing on your head as thoughts and questions raced. It took a minute before you finally realized your situation which you put yourself in. When he noticed you were finally calm, he let go of your mouth.
"What time is it?" You asked, staring directly in his hazel eyes. You took notice of your position, and remembered what he told you while you were still asleep. He's a jerk, you thought. But since he helped you out of trouble somehow, you decided to be a little nicer to him for now.
"It's 7, practice ended 15 minutes ago." He answered.
Nodding, you glanced at the side and avoided his gaze. "Can you, uhh... get off?"
"Can I not? I'm actually enjoying this."
He's a jerk afterall! You inwardly yelled.
Kuroo chuckled at your sudden frown, lifting himself up to a sitting position. "Just kidding." He grinned, then extending a hand towards you.
Pretending not to see his kind offer, you sat up by yourself and fumbled the floor for your glasses, sighing in relief when you found it immediately.
"They'll be locking the school gates soon, so we should hurry."
You figured as much, and stood up. As usual, you stumbled and your vision momentarily blackened out, making you hit a shelf with your head.
Kuroo laughed out loud, as if forgetting where you were and the danger of being caught. Well, not like there's anyone to spot you two, it'd only be the school guards left, and it wouldn't be suspicious to leave late after club activities.
"You're wearing your glasses, aren't you?" He teased.
"Shut up, please. My mood's not so pleasant." You kept stumbling on your way out, and you didn't even bother to stop and wait for your vision to adjust. The gym lights were already closed, so it was still dark even after leaving the storage room.
Now that you just woke up, you probably won't be able to sleep at night again, and might stay awake until morning. Not like it's anything new to you.
"Where's my thanks?" Kuroo jogged towards you after locking up, stopping just beside you as he smiled playfully. He really found you amusing. You looked like a normal high school student at first glance, quite nerdy with the glasses, but you actually had the audacity to go to school just to skip classes and sleep somewhere in the premises.
"Ah, thanks." You replied monotonously, not sparing him a glance. "You're very kind, really. I hope the gods take you soon for your kindness."
"That sounds like you want me to die."
"Exactly." You didn't mean it, of course. You were actually thankful, but your mood was too sour to try and thank him sweetly. Plus, he made that perverted comment, and that just gave you a horrible impression of him.
"You're welcome." He replied playfully, slowing down his pace to keep up with your slow walking. There were barely any students left, and the surrounding was already dark with only lamp posts illuminating the place.
Kuroo remembered the conversation he heard from his underclassmen a few days ago, the part of which school you went to before transferring. That actually piqued his interest even more.
"So... why'd you transfer?"
You glanced at his face, noticing his expression didn't seem to have any ill motive. He was simply curious, and his question was something people normally asks a transfer student. "Uh, family stuff."
Taking a deep breath, you sighed. He wouldn't stop looking at you, and he probably won't until you give him an elaborate answer. "My parents moved overseas for work."
You thought back to your former school, remembering the bad memories you left before leaving. You were actually thankful that you moved, as it served as an escape for you to run away from the issues.
"Have you always been like this?" His tone became serious, making you turn to him once more. Looking up at his face, it was pretty dark to clearly see his expression. "Like... skipping school and stuff?"
You moved your gaze towards the road ahead, a series of cars passing by. Sighing, you fumbled on your blouse's ribbon, a mannerism that you had. "No..."
The expression on your face was enough to make the taller male aware that it was a sensitive topic, so he didn't press further. Instead, he decided on a different one. "We have a tournament coming up. The juniors are somewhat a fan of you, so they'd be pumped if you'd come to watch."
"No thanks." You quickly declined, deciding not to think about the 'fan' part. "I don't know anything about volleyball."
It was a lie, but Kuroo didn't realize that. You knew a lot about it, you used to supervise your ex's games after all. His kind smile flashed on your mind, the face he'd make when he sees you watching. It made your heart clench, and you clicked your tongue in annoyance.
"Oh. But you could still watch." The black-haired male pressed.
"I said no."
"Fine." He sighed. "Oh and,"
"Did you know we're on the same class?" He added as a question.
"Are we?" That was news to you, though you don't really even know a single face of anyone in your class. You've only attended about five times during the whole month, and not even enduring until the last period. Oh, there was one person you remember. She's a silent, loner nerd who you made a deal with to give you details of tests, and notes in exchange for illustrations of her novel. It was a fair deal to the both of you.
Kuroo chuckled and nodded. "I was surprised, too. But it seems that way."
You shrugged. "I don't really care about school anymore, it's a pain. And I was placed in a college prep class when I don't even plan to go to college." Surprisingly, you actually talked about yourself when he didn't even ask about it. It made him smile, realizing you were starting to warm up to him.
"Teachers won't stop bugging and reprimanding me from the lack of attendance, but I comply on everything else so they can't just fail me." You added with a small smirk.
Kuroo shook his head disapprovingly. "I don't understand some young people these days..."
"What are you, an old man?" You stared at him blankly.
You paused, thinking hard as you tried to remember his name. It was somewhere along the lines of Tu... Ke... Te... Ku... You gave up and turned to him. "Sorry, what's your name again?"
Kuroo looked at you in disbelief. He was sure he gave you his name when you two first talked, and he wasn't sure if you were just pretending or you really didn't remember. "Seriously?"
Scratching the back of your neck, you looked away in embarrassment. "I kind of forgot." Liar, you didn't even try to remember.
The black-haired male sighed, shaking his head. "Kuroo Tetsurō."
You nodded, taking note of his name this time. Now that you had a proper although short conversation with him, you'd probably remember who he was. "Alright. Thanks again."
The two of you reached your house, and you noticed how he glanced up at the window in your room for a moment.
"My house is over there, feel free to knock on my door if you need anything." He smiled warmly, pointing towards the fairly large house just next to yours.
'Wow, is he trying to be dependable?' You thought, but decided not to say anything and simply nod.
Turning around, you started to walk towards your front door. "I'll go ahead, Kenma's friend."
You thought it was great revenge to address him the same way he called you when you two first talked.
Kuroo chuckled when he realized what you were referring about, watching you with an amused expression as you entered your house.
