Long into an Abyss (Part Two)

00:23, 11 June 2024

"So, Finn murdered a village of grounders, because he thought we were being held captive?" Violet summed up the long story Clarke had filled her in on.

"Yeah." Clarke breathed, walking next to Violet, keeping an eye out for any evidence of grounders.

"And Bellamy and Octavia went on an expedition to find the others, but didn't get to Mount Weather?"

"Right."

"Okay. Is that all I missed?"

"Pretty much, but c'mon we're here."

Violet picked up the pace, ignoring the slight pain in her ribs every time she moved.

"You brought Violet?" Bellamy asked, walking up to the two of them.

"I didn't have a choice, besides, she-""Clarke, I don't want her to see this!" Bellamy interrupted her, trying to get his message through. "See what?"

Bellamy sighed, turning towards Violet as he knelt down. "Look, what's up there is going to look very scary, and I don't want you to be afraid because we're going to figure it out. Just promise me you won't run." "I promise." "Okay, stay in front of me."

Bellamy let Clarke lead the way into the dropship, as she made her way up the ladder, something banging on the floor above them.

"What was that?" Violet whispered, following behind Clarke.

Violet climbed up behind Clarke, a loud roaring and groaning becoming more apparent as she stepped up behind Clarke, stepping back as she figured out what the roaring was, knocking Violet off her feet in the process. Clarke froze, staring at him as Bellamy put his hand on her shoulder. "It's okay, it's okay. He's been restrained." He knelt down, grabbing Violets hands as he helped her back up, making sure to keep her behind him. Through the empty space between Clarke and Bellamy, Violet could see the issue. Lincoln, the same grounder who has stabbed her and Finn, and was in turn chained up in the top drop ship, was back again, except he wasn't his usual grounder self, he was screaming and thrashing his body around, unable to keep his focus on one of them for long.

"I can't believe we're back here again." "Can you help him?" Octavia spoke quietly from the back corner behind him, miserable.

"I don't know. I knew Mount Weather controlled the reapers. I had no idea they were creating them."

"If they can do that to Lincoln, what are they doing to our friends?"

"Those cages." Violet cleared her throat, Clarke and Bellamy turning towards her. "Clarke, we saw all those cages in that vent room. All of them were grounders."

"What is she talking about?" Bellamy shook his head.

"When we were getting out of there, there were dozens of cages, full of grounders in this room. I just don't understand how they manage to get grounders, into this." Clarke spoke.

"Drugs? Some type of hypnosis trick?" Bellamy shrugged.

Octavia stood up, walking around the edge of the room towards them, turning on her flashlight as she made Lincoln's appearance better seen.

He yelled at them, his teeth bearing down at them as spit sprayed out of his mouth and he pulled on the chains keeping him up in the middle of the room.

He stopped roaring, his head dipping down as the chains rattled and his body seized up.

"He's convulsing." "So, what does it mean?" Octavia rubbed her temple."I, don't know. It could be some type of poison maybe? Both Violet and Finn had convulsions when they were poisoned."

"Except, Violet wasn't trying to actively kill us." Bellamy shot the idea down.

"What happened to his leg?" Clarke looked down at a blood soaked, dripping bandage wrapped around his calf, turning towards Octavia as her face went pale and she took a moment to respond.

"I shot him." Her eyes glistened as she shook her leg under her and nodded. "Clarke, he's lost a lot of blood." She turned back towards Lincoln, taking a step forward as he seemed to be more calm. Immediately he roared, pushing his body forward and yelled at Clarke, who took a step back, concentrating in his injuries. "Can you shine the light on his neck?" Both Octavia and Bellamy moved their flashlights to the side, allowing her to see his neck, as he grumbled, closing his eyes from the bright lights.

"Needle marks." "You think he's been drugged?" Bellamy asked, turning towards Violet as he motioned for her to step closer. "Take this, don't come any closer." He handed Violet the flashlight as she stood next to Octavia, holding it towards Lincoln's neck. "Maybe, I don't know." "Let me see." He whispered, stepping towards Clarke as Lincoln roared again.

"CLARKE!"

Violet dropped the flashlight, screaming as the chains on his arms snapped off the walls, allowing Lincoln to grab Clarke, as Octavia yelled his name, getting tossed against the wall within seconds.

"VIOLET, HELP ME!" Bellamy screamed, taking blows on the grounder as Violet grabbed a slim wooden board from near her, raising it above her arms as she hit Lincoln in the head with it, distracting him as he let go of Clarke.

He yanked the board from Violets hands, throwing her forward as her chest slammed into the floor, and she yelled.

"BELLAMY!" She screamed."LET GO OF HER!" Bellamy yelled, getting head butted as he tried to hit the grounder. Lincoln pulled the chains off his arms, jumping at Bellamy as the chains still attached to his feet held him back, dragging him onto the ground as he couldn't reach Bellamy.

"MOVE!" Bellamy yelled, watching as Lincoln changed his focus towards Clarke, trying to grab at her as she moved out of the way, screaming as she watched Violet get to her feet and run towards Bellamy, only to trip as Lincoln managed to grab her leg, slamming her back into the floor.

"VIOLET!" "LET GO OF ME!" Violet screamed, kicked Lincoln in the chest a few times, not hard enough to daze him but enough to keep him from hurting her seriously, as Clarke grabbed the grounder from behind, angering him as he turned around, throwing Clarke out of the way and turned his attention back to Violet, grabbing her up as he knocked her into the wall beside Bellamy.

Octavia yelled, bringing a large metal pole down on top of Lincoln's head, knocking him down as she hit him again, leaving him unconscious.

Bellamy groaned, crawling his way towards Violet as he pulled her towards him, holding her up as she coughed, sitting between his legs."I-is everybody, okay?" "I think so." "What is with grounders and trying to kill me?" Violet sighed.
