Chapter 20
04:01, 9 June 2013Abigail's P.O.V.
"Abigail.... c'mon... wake up!" I heard someone whisper as they nudged me.
"What." I muttered rolling over. I peeled my eyes to see Niall standing over me peering down.
"School in twenty minutes, get ready." He chirped before skipping out of the room.
I picked up the pillow next to me and placed it over my face. Maybe if I suffocate myself I won't have to go to school. "I don't hear any movement in there!" Niall shouted knocking on my door. I rolled my eyes and sat up placing my feet on the floor.
I began to stomp them obnoxiously loud against the warm carpeted floor. I hear Niall chuckle before walking away. I stood up making my way into the bathroom, brushing my teeth and hair. Next for an outfit. It's winter, well it's cold. I surfed through my drawers looking for a sweatshit. Nothing, where were they all? I groaned pulling on a t-shirt and jeans.
"Niall! Where are all my sweatshirts?" I shouted through the halls of the flat.
"I dunno!" He called from his bedroom. I dragged my feet stoppig in his doorway. "What?"
"I don't have any and it's cold out." I sighed leaning against the door frame. He rolled his eyes getting up off his bed and walking into his closet. He came out a few moments later with a blue sweatshirt.
"Here, it's one of my favorites but I guess you can wear it." He smirked at me.
"Thankssssss." I drawled out turning around and walking back into my room. I slipped on the sweatshirt, zipping it up as I grabbed my sneakers.
"Let's go! You're going to be late!" Niall sing-songed as he walked by my room pushign ym door open. I rolled my eyes slipping my shoes on and grabbing my bag, throwing it over my shoulder.
I grabbed a bagel off the counter as I followed Niall out, waiting for him to lock the door.
"Abigail!" I heard someone call my name. I swiveled around to see Louis out in front of his door in his pajama bottoms.
"Hi Louis!" I smiled waving at him. He beckoned me over and i hurried down the hall standing infront of him.
"Now remember, don't let them get to you. Don't worry about them. They're scum bags they don't matter." He whispered placing his hands on my shoulders.
"I know Lou, thanks." I smiled as he pulled me into a hug.
"Leggoooo!" Niall grabbed my bag pulling me behind him as I giggled waving goodbye to Louis. Niall and I got into the car and I picked at my bagel as Niall drove down the road to the school.
I groaned throwing my head back as the school came into view. "It'll be fine." Niall told me.
"Whatever you say!" I laughed uneasily as he stopped the car. "Niall."
"Yes?"
"I don't want to go." I whined turning to face him.
"Abigail, I'm not doing this. You're going." He huffed stopping the car.
"Bye." I grumbled getting out of the car and slamming the door. I knew it was no use to argue with him because either way I would have to go to this hell whole.
I probably shouldn't have slammed the car door though, now, that had attracted everyone's attention. I felt eyes burning into me as I walked through the front doors.
But it didn't stop there.
All the way down the hallway everyone stared at me, small whispers filling the quiet hallway. Had everyone heard about it? Of course. It's highschool.
I made it to my homeroom and took a seat right in the back as usual. People looked at me in disbelief, probably thinking 'oh my gosh, she came back!'
Well, I didn't want to, I was forced.
The day went by.. okay. I felt awkward. People were constantly looking at me, I couldn't catch a break!
But it all turned around when I walked into my chemistry class. In case you forgot I sit next to Jacob and I haven't been in school since the incident.
I walked in and everyone's heads whipped around. Of course. I quietly made my way to my seat.
I pulled my chair as far away from Jacob as possible trying to avoid any type of contact between us.
"Abigail." I heard him whisper. I ignored it. "Abigail." He pestered me.
"What!" I shouted a little to loud.
"Is there a problem?" Mr.Burgs questioned stopping his lesson.
"No sir." Jacob piped up and I sighed placing my head in my hands. He nodded continuing his lesson. "Abigail I want to talk to you."
"No, I want nothing to do with you bloody prick. You ruined me, made a fool of me. Go fuck yourself." I spat at him looking over at him. He squeezed his eyes shut shaking his head. What did he feel guilty? Yeah right, and even if he did I could give two shits.
He didn't talk the rest of the class which I was thankful for. As soon as the bell rang I ran out of the class, lunch time. Thank goodness.
I took my time getting there knowing when I did it wouldn't be pleasant. I turned the corner and came face to face with a skinny blonde girl.
"Hello?" I looked at her puzzled as too why she wasn't letting me by.
"You're such a whore." She spat at me. I was a bit taken back but I didn't even know her.
"Excuse you?"
"Jacob is my ex-boyfriend and we were going to get back together but you ruined it!" She screeched at me.
"Uh.... sorry?" I didn't exactly know what to say to her.
"Damn right your sorry." She smirked at me clicking her heel against the floor. Four other girls emerged from the corners and I couldn't help but laugh, what the fuck was this? "Think this is funny?"
"Uhm, a little. What is this your groupies?" I laughed looking at them.
"Get her." She mumbled. What? I felt someone kick me in the shin.... hard causing me to fall to the floor. After that it was a blur of punches, kicks and hair pulling. "Stay away from Jacob!" The blonde screamed giving me one last kick to the head.
They walked away leaving me in the deserted hallway. I could barely even move as I tried to lift myself up.
I managed to as I leaned against the wall for support. I hurried into the bathroom checking my appearence. I didn't look as bad as I felt which I guess was a plus. My hair was a little tattered and I had a big scratch on my cheek, awesome.
I sighed sitting down on one of the benches. I pulled out my phone getting ready to call Niall. No, he wouldn't come.
But Louis, Oh Louis, he would. I dialed his number and pressed my phone to my ear.
"Hi Louis." I mumbled into the phone my voice cracking.
"Hey babe, what's up?" He asked worried.
"Can you come pick me up?" I pleaded.
"Why. what happened?" I could hear him opening a door and keys jingling.
"Uh well I was on my way to lunch, and this girl, i don't even know her, started yelling at me."
"Uh-huh." Louis mumbled as he, what sounded like, got into his car.
"And she was apparently Jacob's ex and like she got all pizzy with me and then her friends came out of nowhere and long story short they beat the shit out of me and now I'm in the bathroom." I sighed rubbing my forehead.
"I knew you shouldn't have gone." Louis muttered. "Go to the main office, I'm right down the street." Louis told me before hanging up.
I took in a deep breath and stood up. It just hit me now all the pain throughout my body. I lifted up my pant legs and saw multiple red marks that were sure to turn into bruises. I didn't even want to look at my stomach... too many kicks there.
I carefully made my way down to the main office and smiled when I saw Louis talking to the receptionest. "I don't think she'll be coming back." He told her quietly. I smiled a little too myself and if I could I would do a little happy dance.
I waited outside on the bench and heard the office door open, Louis coming over to me. "Hey love." He smiled sweetly standing in front of me.
"Hi Lou." I replied standing up slowly.
"I told them what happened, they checked the cameras and they got the girls. No worries." He slung an arm around me and I winced. "Oh, sorry."
"It's fine, can we just go home?" I looked over at him. He nodded helping me out to the car.
"Why didn't you call Niall?" Louis asked as we were on our way back to the flats.
"Uh, I don't know... I didn't think he would come." I mumbled biting at my nails.
"He would have. I know you and Niall are working on getting along and right now he might not be going as easy on you as you would like but it's just because he cares for you. He wants to make sure your okay." Louis told me giving me a sympathetic smile.
"Yeah, he wanted to make sure I'm okay? HE made me go to school and look what happened to me!" I shouted pointing to the large cut on my cheek.
"Abig-"
"No, don't Abigail me, it's his fault. He's so damn stubborn, I-I can't take it!" My voice rose higher and higher along with my fustration. "I wish he had the common sense like you have! You wouldn't have sent me!"
"Abigail, he just wants to help you. He's frustrated, he's just trying to help." Louis sighed.
"Well he didn't do a very good job at it." I huffed sinking down in the seat. "I don't even care, as long as I don't have to go back."
"Well I unenrolled you so you won't be going back." Louis winked at me and I perked up.
"Louis I love you!" I grinned giving him a hug as he parked the car.
"I know, I know. I'm pretty great." He laughed hopping out of the car. I followed him out and up the stairs. "I think Niall's home so go on. Call me if you need anything." Louis smiled giving me a kiss on the cheek. I groaned as I dragged my feet down the hall.
I stopped and turned back to Louis who gave me a sly little wave before walking into his flat. I sighed and lightly knocked on the door. After a few moments it flew open revealing a messy haired Niall.
"Uh, Abigail?" He said in a groggy voice squinting at me. Someone just woke up.
"Hi." I replied in a small voice.
"Uh come in, and explain." Niall stepped aside letting me inside. I walked past him and placed my bookbag on the couch sitting beside it. He sat down across from me rubbing his eyes and yawning. "I'm sure that nice little cut on your cheek has something to do with it."
"Uh yeah actually. I was beat up in the hallway by Jacob's ex-girlfriend."
"Oh."
"Oh? That's it!? It's your fault!" I shouted at him.
"Oh yeah, I made her beat you up." Niall laughed. Why was he being so inconsiderate?!
"No, but YOU made me go to school." I spat at him and he just rolled his eyes. "Wow, did you take asshole pills or something."
"I think you're just overreacting." He told me and I gasped.
"Overreacting?" I looked at him in shock. "Oh yeah I'm overreacting. Excuse me! You know these bruises and this scratch are no big deal!" I laughed sarcastically. "And when I was handed drink after drink and got so wasted and got taken advantage of and had rude comments written all ove my body but I'm just OVERREACTING."
"Abigail, I didn't mea-"
"What, you didn't mean it like that? Then HOW did you mean it Niall? Hm?" I rolled my eyes leaning back on the couch. "By the way, Louis unenrolled me so I can't go back."
"He what?"
"Yeah, because unlike you, he has common sense and cares about me." I gave him a bitter smile sitting forward.
"You think I don't care about you? Are you kidding me? I took you off the streets. I gave you home. I'm trying to help you-" He rambled on as I laughed.
"What's the point! My uncle gets back in a few weeks and it'll all go back to how it was Niall! Don't you get it? This was all pointless!"
"It was not pointless Abigail. Your Uncle will NOT take you back, and I can promise you that." He said sternly.
"Oh really. Good luck. My Uncle is a sick twisted man, he will do anything he can to get me back."
"Well he's going to have to put up a fight cause you're not going without one." Niall glared at me. "You have nothing to worry about. We leave for our first tour destination in a few days and the month doesn't end for like 2 weeks. You'll be out of here way before he gets back." Niall smiled at me.
I hope he's right.
