Chapter 8. Heartfelt conversations
10:33, 1 July 2022Mk tried his best to finish his work as fast as possible. He delivered each delivery as fast as he could and seemed to be doing an alright job. Despite the millions of orders to get through each day, Mk enjoyed the job.
When it was finally over, he walked around town for a while with his headphones in having the time of his life.
As he danced around he accidentally bumped into someone. He opened his eyes and saw that he was on the ground next to, coincidentally, Red son!
"Oh, hi! Sorry!" Mk laughed as he helped him up. "N-noodle boy." He scoffs. Mk sighs. "Still the same old Red son."
They walk down the sidewalk together as Mk talks about all of his favorite things. He tried not to show it, but deep down Red son was somewhat fascinated by the likings of an adult that live in a city lifestyle. All of his video games, movies and food seemed so fascinating. For a split second, Red son wished to live that lifestyle.
They eventually stop at a bench as the sun begins to set. "The city always looks beautiful this time of day." Mk sits down peacefully. Red son follows. "Hey, so a while ago you mentioned people helping you? What was that about?" Red son asks hoping to get some valuable information.
Mk looks down for a moment and then back at Red. "Well, I guess I can tell you. My parents..weren't the greatest people. When I was very young, they hurt me a lot and every time I disobeyed or did something wrong, there were consequences. The punishments were all very different but I hardly remember it. By the time I was around 4, they apparently kicked me outside in the winter for the night. The only thing I can remember is a big scary looking pig guy looking down at me concerned. The next thing I knew, I was in Pigsys noodles with him and tang looking down at me. It's all foggy but that what they told me. So they helped me and it felt great, so I want to help people and make them feel great too..."
Red son is shocked.
"Oh no. I must be rambling. I'm sorry." Mk laughs.
"Why did you tell me all of this? I didn't force you to-" Red son stared at him in confusion.
"I feel like deep down you can be a good person. I feel like I can trust you, Red son." He smiles patiently once more.
"Trust..?" Red son stared at him in shock. No one has ever trusted him before.
"Yeah. Trust. You DO know what trust is, right?" Mk laughs
"Of COURSE I do. I'm not THAT moronic." Red son crosses his arms sassily.
Mk laughs once more with genuine happiness. Something Red son always wanted to do. Hearing him laugh made him happy but he continued to hide it.
"Yeah, I trust you, Red son." Mk sighs from laughter.
Suddenly, the bad feeling came back. As he stared at him, the same feeling from the night before ate away at his body but he remained still trying to hide it. Suddenly, he stood.
"Oh. Is it that time already?" Mk slowly gets up as well. Red nods.
"Goodbye." He bids before walking away.
"Bye, Red!" Mk calls back waving energetically.
He sighed deeply before opening the door knowing his mother would not be impressed with the information he retrieved.
