What If

17:55, 23 March 2019

A/N: I decided to write a short what if chapter. What if Itachi was alive? Sasuke would've found out the truth while he was alive and so on. This will take place in the Boruto part since he will be interacting with his niece and nephew. (I don't know the artist)

Uncle Itachi

Kotomi was at home, wiping down the kitchen counters. She scrunched her face in disgust, seeing how black the wipe was. "I need to clean this more often..."

There was a knock on the door. Her two year old son, Kojiro, raised his head up towards the direction of the door. "Mommy, someone's here."

Kotomi giggled, her son always being so alert about the door. "I'll get it."

Opening the door, she saw her eldest brother standing there with a smile. "Good afternoon, imoto."

Her heart felt so happy. "Nii-san! I'm so glad you could visit!"

"Uncle Itachi!" Kojiro ran up to his uncle, hugging his leg.

Itachi smiled, picking up the small boy. "How have you been, Kojiro?"

"I've been good! You can ask mommy!"

Itachi turned towards Kotomi, gesturing her to answer. "He's right. He's been such a little ball of sunshine." She finally noticed a plastic bag that was hanging on his arm. "What is that?"

Itachi looked down at the bag. "This is for Sarada. I was going to go over to Sasuke's house to give this to her. Since your house was on the way there, I wanted to invite you to come along with me."

Kojiro's eyes sparkled, turning to Kotomi. "Can we go?!"

Low key wanting to go as well, Kotomi nodded. "Of course we'll go. I've been meaning to give Sasuke his favorite snack."

"A riceball with a cherry tomato?" Her eldest brother asked matter-of-factly.

"You guessed it."

The three were in front of Sasuke and Sakura's house. Kojiro was riding on Itachi's shoulders, eagerly waiting for someone to answer the door.

The door opened, revealing it to be their niece that they adore so much. Sarada's eyes lightened up seeing her aunt and uncle. "I didn't know you were visiting today!"

Itachi held up the plastic bag. "We came over to bring this to you. May we come in?"

Sarada stepped aside. "Of course! Mama and papa are in the living room!"

Taking off their shoes near the front door, they entered their brother's home. It was spotless in the inside due to Sakura's constant cleaning. Kotomi looked around, thinking she should clean just like her sister. It made it seem like she doesn't clean much which she does. That's the hard part of living with three boys.

At the same time, both Sasuke and Sakura got up from the couch. Sakura was the first to speak up, giving them both a smile. "It's nice of you to visit."

Itachi smiled back, putting Kojiro down from his shoulders. "It's pleasant to be here. I wanted to stop by to give Sarada something."

Kotomi held up her bag at the same time Itachi did. "And I brought stuff for you and Sasuke."

Itachi began digging through the plastic bag, handing what it seems to be a dango to Sarada. "Here you are. This is your favorite flavor, right?"

Sarada's eyes sparkled, gratefully taking the dango from her uncle. "Thank you so much, Uncle Itachi!"

Seeing his niece smiling made him smile as well. He looked over to Kojiro, seeming like he wanted a dango as well. Digging out of the plastic bag, Itachi handed his nephew a dango. "I didn't forget to give you one, Kojiro."

Now it was Kojiro's turn to smile brightly. He had the look like he received a gift from the gods. "Thank you, Uncle Itachi!"

Kotomi smiled at the sight. She knew that Itachi didn't mention that he had one for Kojiro at her house or else Kojiro would've been constantly asking for it like the toddler he is.

"Kotomi-chan, what do you have in your bag?" Sakura asked.

Almost forgetting that, Kotomi began digging in the plastic bag. "This is for you, Onee-san. A cherry blossom mochi."

Sakura stared at it in awe. "It's adorable. Thank you."

"You're very welcome!" Kotomi turned over to Sasuke. "And for you... I got you natto." In that instant, she saw Sasuke's face scrunch a little in disgust. Cracking a smile, she began laughing. "I'm just messing you with you, Onii-san! I have homemade riceballs with cherry tomatoes! Your favorite!"

Receiving the riceballs from Kotomi, Sasuke spoke up with a neutral expression. "Thanks. I appreciate it."

"You're so welcome!" Turning over to where Itachi was spending time with Sarada and Kojiro, Kotomi was watching them while in a daze.

Sasuke turned to where Kotomi was looking, both siblings at a daze while watching their older brother interacting with their children.

Sakura read the atmosphere, smiling to herself. "I'm going to make some tea." Soon after, she headed over towards the kitchen.

With everything that has happened in the past, Kotomi felt so happy that her son and niece were able to see their uncle like this. Itachi deserved to live a peaceful life after all he's been though.

It was hard to believe that Sasuke ever hated Itachi, it all seemed like a distant memory. "Onii-san. Aren't you glad that we finally live in a world of peace?"

Sasuke nodded with a small smile. "Yes. Seeing Itachi like this, it makes me happy to see him live a life where he doesn't have to worry about anything anymore."

"I agree." Kotomi let out a happy sigh. "Now he spoils those two rotten." Sasuke nodded once more, both continuing to watch Itachi interact with their children.

Itachi was eating dango with his niece and nephew. It was such a precious sight to see, seeing their eldest brother looking his happiest he's ever been.

"Uncle Itachi, can you help me train later?" Sarada asked.

Not answering with a yes or no, Itachi gently poked Sarada's forehead in response. "Next time."

Knowing that meant her uncle will train her sometime soon, Sarada smiled brightly. "Alright!"

"Can you train me too, Uncle Itachi?" Kojiro asked.

Instead of answering yes or no again, Itachi gently tapped Kojiro's forehead. "I will when you're older."

It was such a heartfelt memory that Kotomi ended up taking out her camera to capture the moment. Making sure the flash wasn't on so it wouldn't ruin the moment, she took the picture. It ended up turning out perfect. The picture captured Itachi's fondest smile while his niece and nephew were smiling along with him.

Itachi had always helped his siblings out with their children. Taking them to places in the village, sharing stories that were mainly about their parents when they were younger. They were all embarrassing stories, much to Sasuke and Kotomi's humiliation. And lastly, always showering them with gifts. After all he's been through, he could finally enjoy life with his family.
