Chapter 14

Mission: Stop the Obaro Gang

Kotomi, along with her teammates, were all waiting for their sensei to start the mission. Their mission was to go to a village to defeat the rogue ninjas who were bothering them. It sounded easy, but you should never underestimate a mission. Something could always happen.

Seeing their sensei appear, Monami had a rolled up scroll in her hand. "I got the ok, so we can start to head out now."

The three straightened out, all saying this in unison. "Yes, Monami-sensei!"

Monami started laughing. "You don't have to be so formal with me, guys! But it makes me happy that I have such good mannered students!" Calming her laughter, she cleared her throat. "Let's head out."

Arriving at the village they had to protect, there weren't any people to greet them. It almost seemed like a ghost town.

Tsubaki whistled at the sight. "Rough crowd."

Ryusai looked unamused. "They're probably all hiding from the rogue ninja."

An old man walked up to Monami. "Excuse me, but are you the ninja from the hidden leaf we requested?"

Monami nodded. "Yes, sir. I was well informed on what's happening here."

The old man sighed in relief. "I'm so glad. I'm the village leader, Hayashi."

Monami gave the village leader a smile. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Monami. These are my students, Ryusai, Kotomi, and Tsubaki."

"It's nice to meet you all." Hayashi took out a piece of paper, showing it to them. It was a wanted poster of a devious looking man with three other men in the background. "This is the Obaro gang. They just showed up in our village one day, and started attacking the people and taking our money. We need to someone to defeat them once and for all so they won't keep bothering us anymore."

Monami nodded. "Understood. You and your people won't have to worry after today. We will get rid of the Obaro gang for you."

"Thank you! Thank you so much! I would be forever grateful!"

"It's no problem at all." Monami turned to her students. "So... Here's the plan."

A little later, the four were all hiding in different spots inside the village. They were informed that the rogue ninja comes during this time to harass the people. They were waiting for their arrival.

Wearing an earpiece, Monami spoke up. "If one of you sees the enemy before me, inform me before you engage."

"Got it." Kotomi, Tsubaki, and Ryusai answered at once.

Kotomi was on the lookout for three men. Hiding in a large tree inside the village, she was looking around the area with her eyes. No one was in sight for now. There was nothing but silence.

"Monami-sensei, I see four men at 10 o' clock." Ryusai spoke over the earpiece.

Grunting, Kotomi looked towards that direction, seeing four suspicious men entering the village. They had greedy smiles on their faces.

Kotomi placed a finger on her earpiece. "It looks like they're going to break into a house. What are your instructions, Monami-sensei?"

"I was thinking that Tsubaki uses one of his ice jutsu to have them literally freeze on the spot."

They heard Tsubaki chuckled over the earpiece. "I can do that no problem. Just tell me when."

The four men known as the Obaro gang was about to break down a door of a house. As soon as they were about to break the door, they felt like they couldn't move. "What the?! Why can't I move?!"

"Boss, look! There's ice trapping our feet!"

Looking down, the boss noticed a lot of ice on the floor, trapping them where they stood. "Where the hell did all this ice come from?!"

Hearing a chuckle, the four men all turned towards the sound. Seeing Tsubaki at a distance, he had a cheeky grin. "It looks like you fell for my ice trap jutsu. You must be weak to not be able to sense that."

One of the men clicked his tongue. "Who the hell are you, kid?!"

"The kid who's going to kick your ass."

The boss took out a shuriken. "Not if we take you out first!" Throwing the shuriken towards Tsubaki, Ryusai went in front of him, encountering it with his two swords.

Ryusai glared at them. "Not gonna happen."

They all grunted, one of the men spoke up. "There's two of them?!"

The boss clicked his tongue. "Come on! We're not going to have a couple kids defeat us that easily! Let's break the ice, shall we?" The men started chuckling, soon struggling their feet out of the ice, successfully getting out.

Both Tsubaki and Ryusai were on their guard. "Get ready." Ryusai said, holding his two swords on both sides.

Tsubaki nodded. "Right."

The four men were charging towards them, now attacking the two all at once. Encountering their attacks, one of the men saw an opening, ready to attack Tsubaki.

As soon as he was about to attack, he felt a painful sting on his back. Someone had thrown a kunai at his back. Turning around, he saw Kotomi there. "Don't even think about hurting my friends." Her eyes had the sharingan in them.

The man looked intimidated, but he wasn't trying to let it show. "What can a scrawny girl like you do?"

Kotomi smirked, disappearing from sight. Appearing right in front of the man, she upper kicked him, making him landed hard on the ground. "Just because I'm a kid doesn't mean I can't kick your butt."

Monami was dealing with the boss as the three were dealing with the members.

Tsubaki was dodging the man's attacks, trying to keep away at a certain distance. Once he was, he started weaving hand signs. "Ice release! Ice path jutsu!" He started jumping as ice was forming under his feet, making a path wherever he went.

The man grunted at the sight. "No way... It's like he's ice skating in the air!"

Seeing that he was at a great distance, Tsubaki started weaving hand signs once more. "Ice release! Ice arrow jutsu!" A bow made of ice appeared in his hands.

Aiming towards the guy, several ice arrows started shooting out of the bow. The man was dodging them, but one managed to hit his side, making ice slowly start forming on that spot. "Damn it!"

Ryusai was encountering the man's attacks with his swords. Wearing a serious expression, Ryusai made the two blades touch. "Two swords style! Bull horn rampage jutsu!" He started swinging his swords like crazy. The swords were like a bull trying to strike its prey.

Kotomi was encountering the man's attacks with a kunai. Leaping away, she started weaving hand signs. "Fire style! Fireball jutsu!" A giant fireball formed in front of her, catching the man by surprise. It slightly got him, but he jumped away before he could get burned.

Squad 8 were fighting the men individually. The more they fought, the more they realized that these men had no jutsu that was surprising. It seemed like they had no trick up their sleeve either. It was like they were trying to maintain themselves while fighting.

Eventually, they defeated the Obaro gang. Monami tied up the men, seeing the police of the village take them away.

The village leader couldn't stop bowing along with the rest of the villagers. "Thank you! Thank you so much! If they're anything we can do in return, we will do so!"

They all smiled in response, Monami spoke up. "Thank you for your kind offer, sir, but we need to head back to the village as soon as possible."

The village leader was thinking to himself. "Well... When you come to visit next time, you all can have a free meal and a free room to stay in for a few days!"

"We'll keep that in mind. Thank you so much."

After receiving a lot of thanks from the villagers, the four were heading their way back to Konoha. They felt proud of themselves for succeeding in their mission, as chunnin nonetheless. It felt great using their jutsu to defend others for once.

"What do you plan to do when we get back to the village, Kotomi?" Tsubaki asked.

"The usual. Train and then clean my apartment."

"I'm going to train as well! And go home and read a series that I got into recently. What about you, Ryusai?"

"Train..." Ryusai started getting flustered, blushing in embarrassment. "And sleep." They started laughing, enjoying their time together.

Monami was listening to her surroundings. You can never be too careful even after a mission. Stepping on a certain spot on the ground, it drastically blew up, making the ground shake.

The three jumped back, shocked expressions on their faces. As the smoke cleared from the explosion, they saw their sensei laying on the floor, her leg was blown off as blood started spilling everywhere.

A/N: Things start to get dark at this point. I was going to put all the entire second upcoming battle in this chapter, but I decided to cut it into two chapters instead of one. To be continued in the next chapter.
