The escape part 2

Amethyst's pov.

I couldn't swim fast enough with her in my arms so I pulled out my whip with one hand while holding her with the other so I wouldn't lose her. I tied her to me so I could have my arms free while I swam. When I made it to the surface I saw the ship crash into the ocean creating a wave the forced us onto the shore. My whip vanished as we made impact and sand covered me while I made sure she didn't get sand on her wounds.

Her once white undershirt. and green upper shirt were soaked with blood and saltwater.

I picked Ammolite up and ran back to the temple. I ran straight through the door.

I'm glad Steven didn't listen to Pearl this time about closing the door. I don't think I would be able to open the door while holding her. 

I ran to the kitchen and placed her on the counter. I grabbed a towel from Steven's bathroom and pressed down on her wounds which caused her to cough up a bunch of water.

Shit, I forgot she has to breath... I should have checked to see if she was. At least she got most, if not all the water out of her lungs.

She coughed up a bit more water but this time there was some blood in the mix.

Fuck, I have to help her. Damn it where is Steven.

I looked around then the warp pad caught my eyes.

Rose's garden.

I picked Ammolite up in my arms and ran to the warp pad. "Just hold in there babe, it will all be ok soon. It will be like this never happened." I said to more reassure myself more than her.

I started the warp pad and as soon as we were there I sprinted for the fountain.

"Amethyst... I'm..." She coughed and got blood onto my cheek. And the towel I had to stop the bleeding was now soaked with blood and starting to stain my shirt, "I'm sorry I ran away. I love you."

Her breathing got shallower and it sent me into a state of fear that I never experienced before.

I jumped over the side of the wall for the fountain.  It went to about mid thigh on me. I was about to place Ammolite into the water when I noticed she wasn't breathing.

"Please... don't leave... I love you too." I fell to my knees. The water was about to my shoulders when I was on my knees and it made it so only her head was out of the water. "I can't lose you."

I knew I was crying and I honestly didn't care. The only thing that was on my mind was Ammolite...

"I'm sorry I caused this, if I just remembered."

My gem stared to hurt. I looked at it and it was slowly dimming it's color.

"I guess I deserved this. I was a mistake from the start. I couldn't even save you in time."

I saw myself start to change and I didn't care.

Ammolite's pov.

I felt a drop of water fall onto my face and I opened my eyes. I had the strangest feeling like I wasn't in my body anymore. When my eyes adjusted I saw what appeared to be Amethyst. But she was changing...

Oh no...

She was turning into one of the corrupted gems.

"Amethyst..." I managed to squeak out. "I'm ok..."

I sat up and she looked at me like she was confused and scared. She tried to run, but I took her hand that appeared to be changing into some deformed limb.

"Don't leave me please..." I pleaded and she looked down at me as if she were sad. "Please I need you."

She tried to talk to me but it came our like some monstrous but also scared roar.

"I am the one that was wrong... I ran away because I was scared you didn't love me anymore." I felt tears coming from my eyes. "I love you, and I'll continue loving you no matter what you like like."

She let out a series of roars, and I felt some tears land onto me.

"I'm not gong to leave you just because of everything that has happened. You're the only person I have that knows who I am and doesn't try to make me what I use to be. And I love that we can easily understand each other."

She wrapped me in a hug, and since I couldn't quite reach to kiss her forehead, I kissed the gem on her chest and it began to glow brightly. It was so bright I had to cover my eyes.

"How did..." I uncovered my eyes to see Amethyst back to her old self at least physically. 

I didn't ask any questions I just hugged her. "I never did thank you for saving me."

I went and kissed her when we heard someone clear their throat.

"How did you do that?" Steven asked in awe.

"I don't  think Ammolite realized what she did." Garnet said as she took off her visors. "Love is a powerful thing, it's partially what gave your mother and you healing abilities, and I suppose if it's strong enough and accepted by both people or gems, it can save them."

I looked over at Amethyst and she sat down in the water. So I sat next to her.

"I love you. I truly do and I'd get stabbed a thousand times if it meant I could stay with you for the rest of my life.

"I love you too, and I promise I will do my best to make sure nothing ever happens to you."

I grabbed her hand. And we got out of the fountain.

"Are you ok... Your skin is changing?"

I looked at my arm and my skin stared to look like I had a bunch of sparkles shoved into my skin and I had what appeared to be rainbow tattoos going from my wrist and wrapping up my arm in a spiral.

"Am I..." I pulled out my cutlass and tried to cut my hand and when I did there was no blood and it quickly healed itself. "Am I fully gem now?"

"Well I guess this means we'll have more time together." Amethyst said jokingly before kissing me.

"Well you're worth every minute of my time," I said as I pulled away, "come in let's go home. Its been a long day."
