Prologue

New York, December 2021. Before it all started.

Jennie sits in her car in the basement of an apartment building. She has big news to share with but she doesn't know if it is good news or bad news. She felt mixed up, she bought a big bag of dinner right now and a rectangle box kinda like a necklace only the thing inside is not a necklace. It's snowy today in New York. After thinking for some time, she decided to go in.

Ding Dong

Jennie rings the bell door and it only takes a second for the person inside to open it. It's her boyfriend, Min Yoongi. He's looking so fine with his hair wet from the shower wearing his bathrobe and a towel on his hand, because Jennie was shocked by the view 'Wow he's hot in wet' suddenly she smirked and jumped on him and his lips. She kissed him rough while her legs wrapped around his body. At first Yoongi responded to her kiss but suddenly he cupped her butt and tried to put her down, Jennie confused.

"Why? What's wrong?",

"I need to talk to you." Yoongi's sudden cold tone and walk away make Jennie arched her eyebrows and follows him to the living room. He grabbed some documents from his dining table while he passed by and threw them on the coffee table in the living room.

"What's this?" Yoongi still stands up while Jennie sits on the couch looking at some paperworks in front of her. At first, she examines the cover to try to remember what is this and why Yoongi asks about this but suddenly she realizes it's her paperwork. She knew what's in it.

"Yoongi i can explain." Jennie grabs his hand to let him sit beside her but he snatches his hand away and walks back and forth across her. His both hands cupping his face out of frustration because he hates Jennie's bad habit.

"You did it again? You make a contract for me to deal with some company under your name? What's wrong with you Jennie? For God's sake I'm exhausted!" Yoongi yelled at her, he felt tired and Jennie always did something behind his back. He knows Jennie has a legal team in his office, they both work together in Omnicom, a top marketing agency in the world where Yoongi is one of the top digital advertising companies.

They start dating for two years, he finds Jennie attractive with her fierce and boldness and Jennie finds Yoongi cute with his savage yet quietness that makes him kinda like a cool guy where everyone is scared of him.

Jennie always does this with Yoongi, controlling his life to lead him to be successful. Yoongi can be a top digital advertiser not because of Jennie but somehow he being the best triggers Jennie to help him climb a ladder more to be the best of the best. Jennie sometimes finds a company rumored to have a new product or celebrity who wants to do their own brand and she can quickly approach them to offer to make a deal in Omnicom, specifically working with Yoongi.

Most of them agree but sometimes Yoongi feels like he doesn't have the capability of doing that. Jennie tries to be a good girlfriend by supporting him , but it's not only by words, she acts forward too. She can be so quick to make a binding contract as a legal team in the office so when a company accepts it, they go straight to sign the paper.

"Baby, I have good news for you. There's this skin care product by a top celebrity who won a grammy. I offer them to work with you!" Jennie told Yoongi. He was shocked and grateful he had a girlfriend who helps him a lot with his job.

"Really? That's great! you don't have to do that! you're too much babe." Yoongi approaches her and gives her a kiss on her cheek.

Since then, she always finds another company to make Yoongi the best and has a high reputation among companies, she kinda wants him to beat Lisa on this.

"Jennie, you have to stop! you get my team exhausted by all this work you gave us, there's five waiting lists from many companies to work with me" Yoongi said to her while he sat in his office looking at the document. Jennie walked back and forth trying to explain.

"Yoongi, it's an opportunity for you! After this you can be a Digital Marketing  Executive in Omnicom!" Yoongi contemplates, it's a good offer to think about. His portfolio can be a proof to the board of commissioners that he deserves a promotion, so he took it.

Months later he got that promotion but Jennie has another achievement in her mind to make Yoongi become more famous among marketing companies in the world. Yoongi is frustrated that Jennie always makes him meet with new deals. He can do strategic marketing planning for three companies at once, he even larger his team to dozens of employees, only to work for him.

He was somehow confused why he fell into Jennie's offer, she was kinda like a magnet. When they got into a fight because Jennie always pushed him, in the end he was always the one who came to her apartment to apologize because he felt no girlfriend could support her boyfriend this big. But this time, Yoongi had enough.

"You already passed the line baby! you cannot even see the line where i got so stressed out, this time you signed the paper under your name without consulting me first! you practically stabbed me!." Yoongi yells again and makes Jennie finch in her seat,looking down to her feet. Yoongi continue,

"This is the third time you're doing this, what's next? Do you stalk the Kardashians now to research what brand they're gonna make so I can pitch in too?!" Yoongi rhetorically said it but Jennie mumbled 'you just gave me an idea to do that now for you' to herself.

"Yoongi i'm sorry, i thought it would be good for you, there's gonna be an interview with GQ magazine for next month's issue, they're gonna go with the 30 under 30 concept and they want you to be in it." Yoongi disbelieved what Jennie was saying, did she not hear that he's exhausted?

"Jennie Ruby Jane Kim, you're unbelievable, you can't be this selfish just to make you have pride for having a successful boyfriend!" Yoongi said to Jennie to make her turn her head to him and stand up too.

"No! Of course not! I'm grateful for having you the way you are, I just want you to realize you're more than what you think! you're soon to be thirty, at least you have some achievement you can be proud of to keep going, you're gonna realize you're talented in what you've done babe!" Jennie approaches him but he backs away.

"See? there you go again with 'achievement' what's wrong with you and that word? just because you're in line for being chief legal officer doesn't mean you want to make me higher to meet your standard!" Yoongi points a finger to her to make Jennie afraid of him.

"Babe, please, it's not my intention! I just pissed out everytime Mrs. Hopkins always praises Lisa for her job while you did everything you could yet she never approaches you." Jennie reasoned out.

"That's because she's Mingyu's girlfriend and I'm fine with that, she likes my little sister. I know what i can do, i don't need other people to remind me i have more than i expected, you're the one making me feel weak like i cannot do this alone and being controlling manipulative bitch." Yoongi said.

By those last words, Jennie widened her eyes and disbelieved what Yoongi just described to her. She knows Yoongi can be that savage and cold but she didn't realize she would experience it like his staff. For the first time tears come out from her eyes, Yoongi realizes it and feels guilty.

"Jennie, it's not what i meant--",

"No, you're right, I'm out of control. I am thirsty for power. Thank you for summarizing it as a new nickname for me, Min Yoongi." She tries to take her bag with a paper bag of their dinner and a gift but Yoongi holds her wrist.

"Babe, that's not what I meant, I'm sorry it's harsh--" Yoongi pleaded while following her around to the entrance door. He tried to catch her wrist but he always failed.

she thinks again, what if she is being like that bitch again while she's pregnant? Will he be like this? try to get away from his own harsh words to make her believe deep down she's like that. "No, Yoongi, I think you're that weak to face a high standard woman like me."

"Oh so that's it? we're gonna talk back to each other with harsh words now? okay, if you say so, just go, tell everyone what they are, i assure you they'll feel content to help them motivate by your words too." Jennie still cannot believe he gaslighting her again. It's already toxic, she's controlling with her action and Yoongi gaslighting people with his savage words.

She stormed out of his apartment feeling lost in her mind, lost with Yoongi's words. Controlling manipulative bitch, wow. On the way to her car in the basement she passed by Lisa.

"Jennie unnie? Why are you crying? i thought you're having dinner with Yoongi oppa right now?". Lisa is shocked, never in her lifetime seeing Jennie cry, she's that strong to let her eyes get wet. "Ah yes, we're just having some disagreement." Jennie explained. "What did he say? it sounds so deep if you're crying, Unnie."

"Ah Lisa, it's okay, I'm okay. What are you doing here too?" Jennie asked her back.

"Oh actually I want to deliver my last project to him since I'm going to switzerland." Lisa replied.

"Lisa, take me with you, please!" Jennie immediately pleaded.

"Huh? What? Why?" Lisa was confused, Jennie pleaded with her like she's about to burst out in tears again, she's afraid Jennie will cry out loud in the basement like she always screamed to her legal team in her office. She thinks Jennie unnie and Yoongi oppa's argument this time it's really big. She can imagine with Jennie's straightforward brain and Yoongi's savage mouth , it's like a world war all over again.

"Please Lisa, i need your help to get me out from New York, i want to clear my mind." Jennie holds Lisa's wrist begging her to understand she can't say the real reason. Lisa witnessing this feels pity for Jennie, never Jennie cries and beg so she thinks this is big.

"Okay, i will make some arrangements, do you want to go home? or have a sleepover in my home so you can't be lonely?" Lisa offers Jennie and she nods. Lisa finally did not deliver her paper to Yoongi.

The next day Lisa told Jennie that her departure is important and no one knows so they have to go without telling anyone and Jennie agrees. They didn't go to work for a week to plan a project before flying to Switzerland. Yoongi thought Jennie should take a leave because of their argument but when he visited her apartment, she's not there.

After a week of planning, they're flying to Switzerland and for two weeks finally Yoongi asks one of Jennie's employees where she is. Her legal team said she's taking a long leave for months to Mrs. Hopkins and leaving New York to nowhere. Hearing this news Yoongi is shocked, their quarrel makes her like this. He's furious Jennie could be acting this far so he just goes with the flow. He's not trying to call her or anything but after a month he realizes they're already broken up over a cold war like this, so he decides to move on.

While in Switzerland for three months, Jennie and Lisa got in a court trial because the company was corrupt. While they're on trail day, Jennie suddenly faints to make the trial finish early. Jennie tries to open her eyes weakly, when she finally gets a clear vision she starts to scan the room, she's in hospital.

She's in an emergency room, she hears a couple of nurses and doctors talking behind the curtains in front of her and she thinks she can hear Lisa on the phone. She remembers she's about to ask some questions to the witnesses but after she stands up, she feels her leg dripping wet, when she looks down there's blood and she passes out.

Jennie widened her eyes, 'My baby?' oh my god what happened to my baby? Jennie mumble and starts standing up even if it hurts her head, she opens the curtains still weak and Lisa turns her head to Jennie and shock.

"Lisa? My baby! What happened to my baby?!" Jennie screamed and made people in the emergency wing staring at her. Jennie falls into Lisa's arms because she is still weak while crying out loud.

"Jennie unnie, calm down hey you have to go back to your bed",

"No Lisa! tell me please what happened to my baby?! there was blood! I saw blood!" Jennie is still panicking while a couple of nurses hold Jennie too and accompany her to go back to bed.

"LISA WHAT HAPPENED? PLEASE MY BABY!" Jemnie screamed louder because everyone who helps her can only say the same thing, making her calm. Jennie felt exhausted and started to faint again when she relaxed on the bed. With her weak strength she asked Lisa again.

"Lisa, what happened to my baby?" Jennie still cries softly but her eyes are still full of tears. Lisa can only caress Jennie's head while pushing away a couple of strands of her hair in front of her face.

"Jennie please don't panic but you're had a miscarriage. Your baby didn't make it." Jennie starts crying again while laying on her bed, she can't stand up, she can't feel anything beside the pain stabbed in her heart.

Lisa sits on the edge of her bed and laying down too, hugging Jennie from the side, she tries to console Jennie. After an hour Lisa lay beside Jennie still hugging her sleeping figure and whispering to her unnie.

"Unnie, you're strong, you can do this, i am on your side everyday, i promise." She kissed Jennie's head and tears started falling on her eyes too. She can't imagine what Jennie has been through. Losing Yoongi and the baby, it's like losing her whole new family.

While Jennie is sleeping, Lisa sits beside Jennie's bed and stares at her. She contemplates whether she calls Yoongi or not but she just left everyone, she can't call him because it's not her place to tell. She knew when Lisa told Yoongi about this, he would fly here immediately. After some thinking she decided to be quiet.

Months after the incident, the trial has finished and Lisa is already on flight to New York. While Jennie? She took another three months to gather her emotions.

She's standing in front of her baby grave, because she's six months pregnant, the baby start to develop so the doctor operate her to get the baby out of her womb. Jennie decided to buried him in Switzerland because most of her memories with the baby was in there, she want to let the baby stay with a happy memory she's been through when taking care of him.

It's time to Jennie go back to New York, she stare at the tomb of his grave, 'Mommy and Daddy's strong little boy, Kim Min-ho' She decided to take her surname 'Kim' in him and 'Min' as his first name from his dad, Min Yoongi.

"Baby, I will leave now for good, but remember I always remember you and you can't believe how big my love for you is, little guy." Jennie kneeled on his grave caressing his tomb.

"I promise i tell daddy, even if we weren't meeting you, i guarantee the idea of having you will make daddy loves you." Jennie starts tearing her eyes while trying to smile. She already moved on from Yoongi but of course she loves their baby, and she's about to tell Yoongi when she'll come back with the baby in her hands, but her plan went wrong.

Finally Jennie arrived at New York, she was already in her work attire with her signature black suit with a big satin belt wrapped around her waist. She keeps looking at the mirror while mumbling that she can do this. She can face everyone in the office with her cat eyes and her controlling manipulative bitch attitude. She grabs her bag and starts driving her Porsche to work.

She exited the elevator and went straight to her office, but the receptionist on the legal office floor caught her and stood up approaching Jennie.

"Miss Kim, i thought you would come back next week, we didn't prepare your office for you to use—" the receptionist followed Jennie's fast move while trying to talk straight but Jennie cut her off while the receptionist was still talking.

"Why? was my office really dirty—-" After she said that she barged into her old office and got startled. There's a guy around her age, sitting on her desk writing something on the paper. He's wearing a gray suit with a gray vest inside and a metallic gray satin neck tie. His hair turns into a curtain fringe-up with a strand of his hair on his forehead.

Jennie admits that he's one good looking guy, she totally taps that but at the moment she is furious why that guy is sitting in her office.

"Who are you?" Jennie asked with a cold tone standing between the doors.  The guy turns his head up and looks at Jennie confused.

"Well who are you?" he arched his eyebrows, Jennie admitted again that kind of stare could make a woman melt because it's kinda flirty but she has to stick with her stern attitude.

"I'm Jennie Kim, part of the legal team in this company?" Jennie crosses her hands in front of her chest. All of sudden, he smirked while standing up and approaching her. When he's in front of her, he offers his hand to shake.

"Oh Jennie Ruby Jane Kim, former candidate of CLO here. Nice to meet you i'm Kim Taehyung, Current Chief Legal Officer at your service"

He smirked while waiting for her to shake his hand but Jennie just furrowed her eyebrows. She start to think,

'First day, first war'
