Don't fall

I promised I wouldn't fall in love with her. I wouldn't fall in love with anyone in all honesty, but something about her drew me in.

Was it her smile? Her eyes? The way her nose scrunches when she's excited? Or was it her kiss? I could never tell what it was that caused me to fall.

It was 2 am and we were at my vacation house sitting at the piano. I had the bottle of whiskey in one hand with a freshly lit cigarette taking sips straight out of the bottle, shirtless in just a pair of boxers. She sat on my lap playing the piano in a tiny tank top that stopped halfway down her stomach and a pair of panties.

I watched her fingers glide over the keys playing a soft lullaby she had mastered years ago. She looked so effortlessly pretty bare faced with the dim light of the bathroom illuminating the room we sat in.

I placed a peck on her shoulder where my favorite tattoo she has was and trailed up her neck while wrapping my free arm around her torso. She closed her eyes and leaned her head away from me, giving me full access to the clear canvas I yearned to paint.

Her wonderful smell was intoxicating and her taste was addicting. I knew I was in deep but was she?

"Mmm baby" I mumbled on her skin. She paused and took her hands off the piano, turning her head to look at me.

"Yes?" She replied, lacing her fingers with mine on her stomach.

"Are you happy?" I took a puff from the cigarette and a swig from the bottle before kissing her shoulder again.

"I am why?" She turned slightly so she was sideways and could look at me better.

"I was just wondering if you are okay with our situation" she took the bottle out of my hand and took a sip.

"It's not ideal and I know you can't fall in love but I'm happy for now" she smiled at me and pecked my lips pulling away quickly.

"That was apparently a lie" I sigh, putting my cigarette out and putting the bottle down on the floor. I cupped her face with one hand removing a piece of hair from her face with the other.

"What do you mean?" She whispers with hopeful eyes.

"I fell for you... I don't know when or how but I am at a point where I can't live without you and don't even want to try... you make me happy just by being next to me in life." She smiled letting a tear fall down her cheeks. I kissed her forehead, hugging her tightly.

"So you love me?" She whispers cupping my face and connecting our foreheads together.

"Yes, I do love you... I love you a lot" those foreign words that I have never said to anyone seemed so sweet coming out of my mouth but only for her.

"I love you too" she leaned in, kissing me deeply. I pulled her closer, moving my lips against hers and letting our tongues dance freely together.

I picked her up bridal style and took her to the bedroom, laying her down on the bed. I hovered over her kissing every inch of skin I could reach in the position I was in.

She ran her hands up my back and in my hair, wrapping her legs around my waist. I kissed her deeper, settling down on my elbows not wanting to stop kissing her.

I rested my head on her chest putting all my weight on the bed between her legs. I could hear her heart beating causing me to get sleepy. She played with my hair as we sat in comfortable silence in this dark bedroom. This felt different but good and like I wanted to be in this moment forever with her and only her.

"I love you" I whispered looking up at her. This overwhelming amount of love I was feeling at this moment scared me but felt right and felt natural. Like I didn't have to force it.

"I love you" she whispers, chuckling looking down at me. I smiled up at her soaking at this moment.

I don't know when or how I fell in love with her but I will not let her go now and she will

Be mine forever. I will do everything in my power to make her smile and provide the life she deserves.
