55: Setting Up
18:20, 11 February 2026A/N: I know you all are probably waiting on the Smut and I haven't wrote some in a while so, sorry about that. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR 3k!!
Today is my brother's Wedding and another day where I'd have to see Fred again. Mum wanted me and my father up early to help set up and it wasn't too much of a big deal for me but I would have to end up getting dressed at the burrow since I woke up late still.
The wedding wouldn't start till later since Crystal and Ash loved the Summer Night theme. Which meant that I would most likely be dreading the whole day for hours.
I made sure to pack all of my things in a crossbody bag before I even pulled myself together for the day first. I just threw on a black shirt that along with some baggy blue trousers before my father had walked into my room.
"Have a minute?" He asked as he sat on my bed, tapping the spot next to him. So, I sat next to him on my bed and waited for him to speak.
"I know you and your mother usually talk about things that include...your love life and—" he sighed. I never seen my father get so emotional before but I could tell he was.
"Dad..." I chuckled. "Don't force yourself"
"No, no. I want to." he chuckled as well. "Now, you know I grew up with Arthur during Hogwarts. Right?"
"Yeah of course, you told me millions of times. Just like mum being the only Slytherin you lot ended up liking" I replied.
"Correct. But that's not what this is about" he took my hand into his and held it tight. "They've told me about their boy. The Fred one. You must be feeling terrible."
With all the frustrations going wild in my mind, and last nights fresh memories in my head—I had let my tears rush down. Now I had figured that mostly everyone knew, including Ash who would most likely talk to me about it too. I had caught him up with a few more events that happened, obviously skipping the explicit details.
"Everything happens for a reason, Emerald" he whispered.
"What?—" i sniffled. "I mean—i know you say that a lot but do you really think..that..him losing his memories was good?" I scoffed. "That me pushing him away again happened for a reason?"
"No, not good at all" my father comforted. "What i am trying to say is, throughout all the obstacles and all the pushing then pulling...there's a reason why you two keep ending up together in situations"
I didn't think of it like that before, but my father seemed to be right. Whether our actions were thought out throughly or not, i would always find my way towards Fred somehow. Weird actually.
"Welp" my father stood. "Are you alright dear?"
"I will be, I love you dad. You're not too bad to talk to after all"
"Mhmm doesn't mean I support the idea of you dating and doing Godric knows what. I'm not that old. I know what you young wizards and witches are up to." My father grew serious then chuckled at his next thought.
"You know with all the rivalry back then, me and your mum manage to sneak in the room of requirement and just—-"
"Okay!" I stopped him. "No details."
———-
After about ten minutes, it was now nine in the morning which was still too early for me. My mum had been in more than a hurry still but we all apperated together to Facile Falls.
I felt my feet change from the hard floored flat to now be standing in soft sunken sand. While opening my eyes, I moved forward to the beautiful waterfall. Not in the water of course, but close enough to take in the nice cold breeze that brushed off of the water.
"Emmie my love, I would love for you to help with the sweets table" my mother said as she softly took me by my shoulders and guided me further away from the waterfall. "Laura's son will be helping out as well." Laura was Jeremih's mother, she was close to my mother before my mum started dating my father. I'm surprised to hear they've kept in touch.
We had made it to a smaller tent that was separate from the wedding one. The tent we'd be in was for the food and the wedding tent wasn't set up yet. As we walked in the small tent, it was only Jeremih and my father.
"Where's the Bride and Groom" I asked to my mother.
"Running late—the Weasleys should be here soon though" she replied. "Good Morning Jeremih" my mother hugged and greeted him. "Where's Laura and Gregory?"
"Good morning Mrs.Snow, uh about that. They'll be sending a gift in regards of 'not being able to make it'" he gestured with his fingers in quotations. "Morning Em, you look dashing" he complimented as I side hugged him.
"Thanks" I smiled calmly. "Shall we carry on with the sweets" I gestured with my hands moving swiftly in a different direction.
Jeremih and I walked side by side together to the two empty round tables that were next to each other. One table for him to be in charge of and the other was for me to be in charge of.
After about five minutes, I took my head away from the sweets I finished setting up to see if Jeremih was done too but he wasn't.
"Need help" I asked him as he was lost in a picture of how mum wanted the table to be set up.
"Please" he sighed with wide eyes. I rolled mine and chuckled as I made my way next to him.
Now standing next to him, we had all heard a loud crack from outside of the tent. Jeremih and I still remained in the tent as the Weasleys arrived but my mother and father left to greet them.
Jeremih placed table cloth and brought some of the sweets from under the table, as I guided him on where to put them by looking at the picture.
As we heard the voices from outside of the tent, Jeremih took one of the macaroons and brought it towards me with him.
"I say we have a tasting trial" he raised his eyebrows.
"Mhmm" I narrowed my eyes. "Fine. Since I didn't eat breakfast".
Jeremih had brought the macaroon to my mouth and gestured for me to take a bite. So, I rolled my eyes teasingly before moving my hand under his to make sure no crumbs fell. I placed my lips on the pink sweet and slightly bit into.
"Mhmm" I bummed. "That's soo good" I said in a sultry tone.
"Wait—let me try". And so, he placed the other half in my hand. He smiled so I still had my hand under the hand that held the macaroon and I fed it to him.
"Wow that one was soo—"
"Emerald" a voice said in a sternly deep tone. Jeremih and I both looked to see that Fred has been standing there. I moved away quickly and so did Jeremih, he moved back to lifting the other sweets on the table.
"Uh-Erm...yes?" I asked in confusion.
"Nothing" he shrugged. "Just checking to see if I remembered your name this time" he tensed up and said with a bitchy attitude.
I had narrowed my eyes, looking at him "At this point, just actually forget about me" I spat and scoffed in his face.
I moved away from where he stood and so I wanted to greet the others. I started off with Ginny and Hermione even though I talked to them yesterday.
Then, I moved on to Ron and Harry who seemed to be in a good mood. After, I hugged George and he quickly asked if he was in charge of music and I just nodded and went straight to the woman that I loved dearly.
"Mrs.Weasley, its so good to see you!" I cheered and gave her a huge hug.
"Emerald dear" she pulled from the hug. "Please, call me Molly dear. After all, you're all grown up now my love." she smiled.
We had caught up on a few things but not the topic that was most likely screaming in both of our heads. She asked me questions on what I've been up to for the past three weeks and I just told her about the shop and that's all.
"I want you to know even with everything going on, you still have my support and my approval" she said sweetly while turning to look at Fred.
"Thank you—Molly." I spoke as she turned back to face me. "It means a lot to me".
The Weasley family was the only other family I truly cared for besides of mine. It meant the world to me that I have her approval, taking in as she's cared and loved her children. To see her care as well for me, felt warm and loving.
Just like the same feeling I'd have with her son, Fred.
———
An hour of sorting and organizing went by and so now the main thing we had to do was set up the tent. Fred and I gave a few glances to each other but I was still irritated from his comment. It's like he purposely called me by my first name to distract me from yesterday accident.
"Emmie, can you grab the lights from under that table over there please" my father asked while I helped hang up a banner. He had pointed to the table where it so happened to be occupied by Fred.
"I could hold the banner -" I smiled. My dad looked at Fred and shook his head.
"Emmie" he angered.
"Alright" I sighed.
I walked towards the table slowly as Fred was messing with some of the glasses and drinks. Ignoring him, I just went to the table still. The boxes just had to be right next to him but I pushed the problem away.
I had lifted the table cloth up to see under and that's what caught Fred's attention.
"What are you doing? I just got done bloody fixing it" he spat out with attitude.
"Sorry, I was just grabbing the lights. Do you mind holding the cloth please" I asked him nicely. His eyes fell as he noticed the different tone from his to mine.
Fred held the cloth as I bent down on my knees to rummage through a few heavy boxes. After a few seconds I got on all fours and stretched more under the table to grab the other box and found the lights.
Getting up, my ass had brushed on his leg. That's when I noticed he must've moved closer. For someone who doesn't remember me, it sure felt like he knew exactly what would happen.
"Thanks Freddie" I purred, leaving him in shock. Now that gives two unexpected looks with names. I left and gave the lights to my father. Turning around, I noticed Fred's eyes glued all on my body.
———
Finally after what seemed to be four hours, we were all pushed out the small tent to put up the main tent.
I went to the further side next to Ginny and my mother. I was smiling and chuckling at Ginny while she kept dropping her wand but Fred had moved in and told Ginny to scram somewhere else. Causing my laugh to go down and his eyes his watch mine.
Now, Fred was to my left as my mum was on my right and gave the directions on where to move it and when to lift it.
"Ready..." She yelled clearly. We all lifted our wands up and got ready to lift the tent. "Okay, Arthur your side. 1...2....3. Lift." She ordered.
"Ready Fred? Emmie? Okay." She added.
When she was getting ready to count down, my mind trailed off to the left side of me as I watched Fred lift the tent with his wand rising up. I wasn't paying attention at all but whatever I was doing, it was going well.
I watched Fred as his muscles clenched up and his mouth opened to focus. His slight panting from using his energy and the sweat that glistened on him from the sun had definitely caused me to grow wet beneath my trousers.
When Fred noticed, I immediately turned away and didn't turn back to see his reaction. He would obviously be smirking by now and I missed that.
"Alright well, Em you still need to get changed so you can head back to the burrow before Ashton and Crystal come along. The wedding will start in about two hours" Molly insisted and told me.
"Thank you Ms.Weasley" I respected. I went back in the separate tent to grab my bag and packed clothes
I tucked my bag tightly to my side and apperated within seconds so I could have time to get myself nicely put together.
Now in the burrow, I looked around and almost broke down from stress. Looking in the burrow always brought me comfort, but even thinking about the memories with Fred had made me want to cry.
I went up the stairs and memories came back of Fred carrying me up. I first went to the towel closet and grabbed a towel when the memory of Fred being an arsehole crossed my mind. I didn't think that coming back to the burrow would feel like this but it did.
Making my way to the bathroom, I hung my dress up and left my make up bag on the counter. I undressed myself while I let the warm water run and then I set my clothes to the side. I hopped in the shower and washed off all of this mornings and afternoons hard work away.
Getting out, I dried myself off then set my towel down and slipped into the dress as I wore nothing under.
After about twenty minutes of applying some makeup, I lastly put some lipgloss on and admired my beauty marks that was on my face. Thinking about how Fred admired every single one.
My hair was still silky and smoothed from the straightening charm but I flipped the ends of my hair inwards. It had completed the look of the dress and showed off my curves nicely. I cleaned up my clothes and the bathroom but putting the stuff away and back into my bag.
——-
Coming back to the tents once I apperated, the scenery had looked completely different. The lights, the plants, the flowers, and even the tents. It was all beautiful now that it was darker out.
Everything had glowed nicely, especially the waterfall. I watched as the water came down and splashed on the wet rocks. Everything about it was beautiful. Effortlessly gazing on its gorgeous view.
"Beautiful" a voice behind me said in awe as it took my attention away from the waterfall. I turned my head to see Fred.
"I know right" I turned back to the waterfall. "It's intriguing" I added.
"I wasn't talking about that" he said. I Turned back around to see him and he had gawked over my body and dress.
My heart felt at ease and my body had gotten warm all over. Before I could react or say anything, he disappeared back into the tent. All I wanted to do was grab him and just say that I love him. That Im still in love with the boy I hated, the boy that hated me, the same one who had dreams about me, the one who can't ...remember.
I followed a few seconds after and went inside the huge tent now. I've spotted out a few of Ash's friends from hogwarts and a few more regulars that would come into our shop, the ones that's been shopping since forever. Families had tables to themselves so when you'd walk in the tent, your family name would just be on parchment on a table.
As I sat down on the main table for the Groom's family. I watched as Fred stood up and walked out of the tent, back outside.
"Tell me exactly why you're not following him right now" Jeremih said as he sat next to me. "Your mum said I could sit with you lot since my family didn't come along".
"I don't mind that" I shrugged, purposely ignoring his first comment.
I looked down again and took the fork out of the pretty wrapped utensils and just started to play with it.
"You didn't answer my question, Em" he whispered. "It's fine...you don't have to" he quickly added as my face turned up to him.
"No, it's okay I just—" I placed the fork down to look at him. "I just don't know what to do. Yesterday he called me 'Snow' and I didn't know how to react." I whispered while looking back down. "And— it's hard for me to talk to him or do stuff —with him not knowing our memories. It's not the same" I sighed.
"I should stab you with that fork for how daft you are" he sassed.
"What?!" I scoffed at him.
"Why don't you take the chance to make new memories with him. It's obvious he feels something for you" Jeremih had confronted.
As if on cue, Fred had walked back into the tent but he wasn't alone this time. He was with a plus one who I recognized very well, Jenny. Jeremih and I both watched as she sat down with the Fred, George, Ron, Ginny and Hermione.
"Still feels something for me huh?" I spat out.
Not wanting to look at the table next to ours, I stood up and went back out of the tent to walk into the smaller one again.
In the smaller tent was now The newly weds, my parents, Mr. and Ms. Weasley with their three eldest sons. Also with Fleur, bill's wife who I recognized from Hogwarts during my sixth year. Fleur was in the triwizard tournament that Ced and Harry were in as well. Ced got hurt terribly but recovered thank god.
"Fleur!" I gasped as I hugged her.
"Emerald?! Oi! I 'ave missed you!" She hugged me back and I wanted to further the conversation but of course I travelled to my brother.
"So I don't see you for about a year and you hug her first? I'm your brother!" Ash irritatingly said.
"Oh right" I joked. "Joking, I missed you the most!" And as I hugged him, I held the hug for a longer than usual. I really missed him. Even with the letters that were exchanged, it wasn't the same to physical talking to him.
"Crystal!" I pulled away from my brother and greeted the beautiful bride and soon to be my sister in law. "Crystal, you're absolutely stunning" I said in awe as I seen her dressed in a lovely beautiful, long, mermaid, dark green dress that had lace all over as well.
"Me? beautiful? I'm starting to get jealous of you looking this good —on My wedding day" she joked as we hugged. A few chuckles from around the room were shared and champagne was poured in glasses.
I gave some space from the newly weds and wanted to move back to Fleur but Charlie had caught my attention.
"Ah, Em." He spoke. "Good seeing you again, how have you been?" He asked sweetly. He was dressed in a buttoned up dark purple shirt and black trousers. My, he was attractive but I could never.
"Right back at you Charlie" I smiled. "And um, I've been ok." I shrugged.
"You don't seem to sure" he furrowed his eyebrows out of concern.
"Yeah, it's just...Life" I added.
"Well maybe I should show you some dragons one day. They always bring my mood up—-"
"Hey there brother" Fred patted Charlie's back when he chimed in randomly now that he was in the small tent with Jenny as well.
Fred had looked at me as I took a sip from my drink and let my eyes wander elsewhere where from the awkwardness. He was being weird now and especially the fact that Jenny came along had irritated me.
I moved away from the group, going to get more liquid in my drink as Jenny was now laughing and gawking over Charlie's stories about his 'Dragon Journeys'.
Fred had followed along and grabbed a glass. No words, just gestures. So I poured some of the champagne in his glass as well and I stood in the same corner.
Fred drank out of his glass while standing next to me and purposely stayed quiet. The tension and the silence between us was very much awkward so I had to speak.
"Why'd you say it?" I blurted out.
"I wish I knew" he replied, knowing exactly what I was asking about. "Every time I seen snow during the winter or even think of it... I imagine you. So that's probably why" he turned to me.
I haven't had a regular conversation with him since —-well actually in a while, so maybe it wouldn't hurt.
"Snow is my last name" I said. "That's why I reacted in a way. I thought you at-least remembered something" I sipped out of my glass, breaking the awkwardness.
"So you and Knight? What's that all about" he asked out of curiosity but I know jealousy when it's with Fred.
"Why do you care?" I rolled my eyes. "Just a close friend" I scoffed. "You and Jenny?" I spat back at him.
"Of course you'd ask. Jenny and I have been seeing each other, you know" he said out of anger or just being an arsehole. "We've gotten real close after graduation" he whispered as we both looked at each other.
I set my drink on the table next to us and watched as Jenny placed her hands on Charlie's chest while giggling. She was gawking over Fred's brother, just like any other girl would.
"Yeah she seems dashing" I spat in his face. I moved away in annoyance and hurt. My blood was boiling again. I moved out of the tent while holding back my anger.
If this event wasn't my brother's wedding, I would've apperated to be anywhere but here.
All I wanted was for everything to be like before. To be like it was when Fred and I would be together. But nothing was going to feel the same.
Maybe Irma was playing tricks on me or just reading a book about bullshit. There was nothing that could have Fred remember me and by the night, I was sure of it.
———-
The main events continued for the wedding and so my Family and I sat and cheered for my brother and Crystal.
It had already been an hour of everyone eating and a few speeches were shared. With every few minutes that passed, I could feel Fred's hot glances at me while my focus was just on tonight's event.
When everyone got done eating, my mother and father magicked away the tables to clear out for space. The beautiful soft glow from earlier had went dim as the lights lowered. George was doing music so he went to the back table and started playing some soft music.
There was a huge clear floor with chairs surrounded for people to sit down on. The music played but no one really danced.
"May I have this dance with you sis" Ash asked me while I was seated with my legs crossed next to some guest and Jeremih.
"Fine. But because it's your special day" I smiled.
Ash guided me to the dance floor and my mother and father walked to the middle of the clear area as well. My mum and dad started to dance and so did Ash and I.
"So, how have you been" he asked me.
"Busy actually, you know with working at the shop and all"
"Good to hear. Now what about you and Fred" he asked as we both looked to see Fred and Jenny, talking while sitting.
"Me and Fred are no longer 'me and Fred' in fact, I don't think it'll ever be anymore." My tone went deep and sad along with the beat of the music that played."But, how have you been? Any plans?" I changed the subject.
"Glad you asked, actually there's something I need to tell you" my brother said.
"Yeah? Well what is it?" I furrowed my brows.
"Crystal and I...we're expecting" he cheered.
"No—NO WAY!" I stopped dancing to jump up and hug my brother. This was the most excited I've been in while. "Merlin Ash, that's great news! I can't wait!"
A few more moments were shared and a few smiles of excitement as well. I had always loved helping out the first years too so to actually have a little wizard niece or nephew was way more exciting.
I had sat back down once the music started to have more of an up beat movement to it. My eyes and thoughts trailed off as I searched the room for Fred but he was no where to be seen. Jenny was gone as well.
Both Fred with his date, gone. Only one thing came to mind and I hated thinking about it.
I hated thinking about Fred now. I hated to think of him and jenny. I hated thinking about what they've been up to. I hated thinking about all the new memories they'd make. I Especially hated to know that these were memories he'd actually remember word for word.
All I wanted right now was some space and air, and the music playing with the flashing lights and people screaming while dancing was not helping at all. I watched as my family seemed to be enjoying their night on the dance floor, so I stood up and walked out without saying a goodbye.
Stepping out of the tent I noticed George, Jeremih, Ron, Mione, Harry and Ginny.
"Oi! Look who finaaaallly decides to come out" Jeremih said with a firewhiskey bottle in his hand and arm around George.
"Someone's had a bit much to drink, having fun Em?" George added as he helped Jeremih up.
"Not as much as you lot seem to be having" I crossed my arms and chuckled while Hermione and Ron were whispering a conversation with giggles.
"Yeaaaaaaah it was getting boring" Ginny said smuggling as Harry helped her up too. "Probably why Fred and Jenny left early"
"Ahhhh those two" Jeremih yawned. "Most likely shagging at that huge monster house" he widened his eyes.
George covered his mouth and Ginny was sober enough to hear what he said.
"I'm sure he didn't —-" Harry spoke but I put my hand up to pause his words.
"No. He's right. I mean, we all know Fred" I acted calm. "Even though he might not know some of us...." I blurted out.
Obviously, I didn't mean to spoil the fun but by the looks of all their faces...I did.
"Yeah? How come we were never friends Garry?" Jeremih broke the silence and we all chuckled at how drunk he was.
"It's George you Git" he corrected him and scoffed. "Fred never liked you soooo—I went along with my twin. Duh" he shrugged.
"Heyy! I thought you and Frank were always cool!"
"It's not Frank! It's Fred!"
I walked away as they argued and while chuckling like the others. In the small tent, I grabbed my stuff as I pretended like I was okay with everything. My plan was to just apperate back to my flat but another idea crossed my mind.
This time. No one could stop me.
I was glad that the waterfall was further away from the tents so no one would be able to see me. Also because half of the guest would be too intoxicated to remember anything.
I stood and listened to the sound of the water and waterfall splashing down that was more quiet than any other waterfall but it was peaceful. The look of the rocks under the clear water and lights shining on the water made it so bewitching.
Moving further away and out of sight, I slipped on the Emerald lingerie I packed that Fred had got me for Christmas. Yes, I brought it thinking that maybe I'd have a chance tonight but sadly I didn't.
Now in the bra and knickers from the lingerie set, I threw my dress off and watched as it laid flat on the sand.
Walking towards the waterfall, I wet my hair first and felt my natural curls start to peak and come back. It was dark but there was a few lights near that just made the water admirably.
I turned my back to the waterfall and let the water take over my whole body. I stood on top of one of the wide rocks and closed my eyes as the sounds of splashing was like music to my ears.
Suddenly i stopped.
All thoughts about Fred had came across my mind once I remembered again how it was with him in the waterfall. If only I had the chance to go back in time, I thought. With my eyes still closed, I let the water go over my full body and just absolutely drench my body and soul with the clear water.
"Snow?....."
A voice spoke and brought me back to reality. I shot my head back up and opened my eyes as I heard the name that only one person called me.
Surprise Surprise, it was Fred.
I was frozen and so was he. His hair was tossed around and shirt was roughly put together as one sleeve was rolled and the other wasn't. The buttons were connected differently and out of order. And also to top it off, a red mark on his neck.
But that wasn't all. Fred stood still and when my eyes trailed down to his hands, one hand held a piece of parchment while the other was holding a chain.
After rubbing my eyes, I got a better look to see my Christmas gift to him. The one he found almost 7 months later.
"Fred—Erm...look just because I reacted to you calling me Snow" I stepped slowly off the rock and grabbed my dress to cover myself. "you can just call me Emerald now since you obviously—"
"I remember" he muttered as he moved closer. But I didn't believe what I heard.
"What?—" I brushed off.
"Everything." He assured, but his tone said it all. He was angry. "I remember, Everything" he spat out as he was inches away from me.
Me heart dropped. I still didn't believe it. How? There was nothing and no one that could actually cause him to help gain his memory.
Still in shock, I was unsure. Fred took a few deep breaths while looking over at me as well. I noticed the tired look on his face along with his tense body frame.
Still, I just couldn't believe it.
"Impossible" I shook it off and started to dress myself back as I babbled. "This is insane. I don't believe it one bit. You're just messing around" I started babbling more while roughly grabbing my stuff.
Fred grabbed my wrist and pulled me closer to his chest to calm me down. His eyes gazing into mine to purposely get my attention. His hands sat and cupped my jaw as I looked down with water pouring out of my eyes... mostly because the water got in it but Fred tilted my head up and took his thumb to swipe some tears away.
"I remember" he spoke again.
One thing we both knew was that when he lies, he can't keep eye contact. And this time I believed him. He knew that I know about his terribly lying.
It was true, Fred had remembered.
