Chapter 18

I won't kill a main character, i'm not that cruel🤭

Jimin's breath got loud when he finally can hear something. His eyes still can't open properly but he try. Little by little he can open his eyes but gets little too hard when he see a bright light from above. Is this heaven? Is he dead?

He finally can see a white ceiling above him but he suddenly remember. He got into car crashed. . . with Chaeyoung. His breath even louder when he remember it even if he wear an oxygen in his mouth. His eyes open wider and he try to lift up his body but he can't he still weak. But, someone notice the bed creaked because Jimin hyperventilating. Jungkook is sleeping on a sofa beside his bed.

"What? what? who's dead!?" He jolted up when he heard a sound and his eyes look at the bed immediately and see Jimin in panic mode. Jungkook stand up fast to calm him down.

"Hey! hey! Jimin! you're fine! you're fine! Look at me! hey! we're in hospital, you have to calm down, your body hurt." Jungkook hold both of Jimin's shoulder to calm him down because apparently his waist is bandage and cast. His rib bone is cracked.

"Hmm, mmm." He can't speak because the oxygen in his mouth. "Calm down, you're fine. We're all here." Jungkook still calm him down but Jimin isn't satisfy with his words, his mind full of Chaeyoung so he still moving out of panic. Jungkook suddenly know why Jimin is panicking.

"Jimin, hey, look at me. Chaeyoung is fine, she already woke up, she's with Lisa in the other room. You're in ICU right now, your ribcage cracked and your left hands too, you were hitting by the steering wheel too hard. you need to not moving too much." Jungkook try to explained so Jimin can relax. He feel numb because his mind still with Chaeyoung.

Jungkook sigh in relief when Jimin finally breath normally. The nurse suddenly came in to check on him. "Oh, Mr. Park is awake. I guess he can go back to his VIP room." Jimin only see her without saying anything but Jungkook just nodded and grab Jimin's bag full of his clothes and his toiletries. Jimin still in silent, he can't speak, he doesn't know why. He still in shock.

The nurses move him immediately to inpatient room follow by Jungkook. Jimin still blankly stare at the ceiling. He think back again of what happened on the car crashed. Him and Chaeyoung drove back to Four Season, and they stopped at the red lights but somehow he heard loud honk and he felt hit from the back. Was he hit by another car? But the honk was super loud. Was it a bus? But he's glad when Jungkook mentioned that Chaeyoung is fine. It's all that matter.

"Mr. Park is going to have a further observation tomorrow morning with the doctor. Hello, Mr. Park i'm Anne your nurse on shift today. You have to had lunch right now, i'm going to lift up your bed rest, okay? You need to try in order to get well." The nurse said to his face so he can see her lips moving to understand her better. But, Jimin only see her blankly, his body still stiff. The nurse get the remote to make him sit properly. But, Jungkook get worry because he still in silence when he already conscious.

"Uhm, nurse, why he doesn't say anything? He only have a broken rib and hand injured, right?" Jungkook asked.

"Yes, but it's a common thing when patient still quiet. They tend to have a shock in their brain for awhile to adjust what's going on from their past incident. You have to wait and be patience so he can finally understand his surrounding." Jungkook nods and the nurse walk out from the room to bring his lunch.

Not so long after that, Lisa suddenly come in to the room. "Hey, you woke up." Lisa automatically smile when she stand in the doorway to check first before walk to him. Jimin still not talking when Lisa is in front of him make Lisa confuse.

"Jimin, can you hear me?" Lisa asked and turn to Jungkook. "He isn't deaf right? The doctor only said a broken rib and hands?" Lisa make sure again. Jungkook suddenly grab Lisa's wrist and whispers. "We need to talk." Jungkook's serious face make Lisa worry so she just get along with him to go outside.

Jimin observe their conversation. Jungkook seems explaining to Lisa seriously and he can see Lisa gritted her teeth and bite her finger while stole a glance at him. Now, Jimin feel suspicious of what's going on. Is it Chaeyoung?

"I don't think we should tell him now." Jungkook said to Lisa when they're in front of Jimin's room. "Why? Why was he quiet by the way?" Lisa still asking the same thing. "The nurse said he still in shock, he can't talk because he has to processing everything. He even got panic once he woke up but he can't talk." Jungkook explained.

"What if he request to meet her? Will you tell him to be ready for what he's going to face?" Lisa asked because she's worry Jimin will breakdown if he knows what's going on with Chaeyoung.

Jungkook sigh deeply and put both of his hands on his waist. He close his eyes to think the best idea to make Jimin ready of what's coming. "You didn't tell her about him yet, right?"

"No! i'm scared, and i can't explain to her. I'm scared i will say something wrong and screw everything up and then they both will end up panicking. She still need to be completely heal from her injured." Lisa said.

Jungkook groaned and facepalm himself. "Ugh! Why they have to be in a tragedy like this! I'm gonna kill that truck driver! That son of a bitch!" Jungkook gets mad but Lisa caress his back to make him calm down. Lisa also feel sad about what happened to them but they can't do anything. All of this just complicated.

"Lisa, you need to go home. You have to rest, Chaeyoung's sister Alice just informed me that she and their parents are on the way to here from Long Island. Did she know her family already moved to New York?" Jungkook make sure again to make everything in place. "Yes, i already tell her." Lisa nodded.

Jungkook kneel in front of Lisa and rub her belly. "Hello little baby, stay with mom okay? I will take care uncle Jimin first. Tonight's bedtime story will be read by mom alone, i'm sorry, i love you." Jungkook talk to her belly and kiss it. Lisa just shake her head, typical Jungkook's overprotective side.

"Okay, hubby, that's too much. We'll be seeing each other again tomorrow morning." Lisa said. Jungkook chuckle and give her a peck. "Okay, goodbye. I love you." Lisa smile at him. "I love you, don't forget you have to be gentle with him. If he ask about her, tell him step by step" Jungkook nodded and Lisa left.

Jimin still observing both of them from his room, he furrows his eyebrows because Jungkook seems nervous before going back again. Suddenly, the nurse enter his room with Jungkook.

"Okay, this is your food and your medicine. Please sir, if he gets trouble to eat, i need you to help him so he can drink his medicine. Bon appetite." The nurse left and Jungkook immediately prepare the food for him.

Jimin still staring at Jungkook with suspicious, make Jungkook little bit nervous but he try to be calm. " i will release the oxygen, okay?" Jungkook reach his oxygen and release it from his head. Jungkook help him to feed his food but they both still in silence. Jungkook still thinking how to answer possible questions will Jimin ask to him and Jimin just think too what to ask him, he has so many question in his head.

"When can i see her?" Jimin finally talk. Jungkook froze for a moment and clear his throat. "Sooner, first you have to get heal and by that i mean the doctor clear you when you can sit on a wheelchair. You have to learn for a walk." Jungkook said.

"Then, can't she be the one who visit me?" Jungkook's breath hitched, he clearly didn't see it coming. 'Come on Jungkook! You have to think a good answer!'

"Uhm, uh. She's, uhm, she should be in bed like you too." , "Is her condition as bad as me?" Jungkook wants to punch himself right now. Why all of his answers always lead to another question he's not seeing it coming? He needs Lisa in this matter.

"No, but she's with her family. They want to take care of her and have time together, they'd been separating for a year and now they have to meet in time like this makes them really worry for her." Jungkook explained. Jimin suddenly look down while munching his food.

"Her family hates me, don't they? They must be blame me." Okay, now he wants to be the one who got hit by the truck. Because of his lie, Jimin blame himself of this accident. Jungkook gritted his teeth out of nervousness. "No, it's just happened and truck driver who has to be blame for. They still investigate him if he was drunk or under drugs." Jimin just nod and continue to eat by Jungkook's help.

After that, Jungkook always take care of him. He even take a day off for five days until Jimin can be in a wheelchair. For five days, Jimin keep asking him but he always said another lie. Like, Chaeyoung wants to be with her family, and last thing he has to say is Chaeyoung couldn't stand to see him hurt like this but apparently, Jimin was buying it since he know how vulnerable she can be. If she see him like this, she might be crying out loud.

On third day in the hospital, Jimin can stand up and walk to the wheelchair even though his waist still in support with a cast all over. On fifth day, Jungkook decided to wheel him out from his room to take a walk around the hospital so Jimin can't get bored. Jungkook take him to the small park still in hospital area where all patients take a fresh air. Jungkook sit on a bench while Jimin still sitting on a wheelchair beside him. They just enjoy the view around them.

"Jungkook." , "Hmm?" , "Tell me the truth, i'm ready." Jungkook snap his head toward Jimin. He shock Jimin suddenly said that. Jimin just look at him with pleaded eyes, he really wants to know and he'd patience enough to make him ready to face what's behind all of this secret.

"She forget about you. About us." Jungkook finally said it. He just look down waiting for his reaction. Jimin just stare at the view in front of him, but deep down there's a deep stab in his heart when he heard it. He couldn't believe this is what he heard. At first, he thought Chaeyoung hate him and won't see him again. He thought she blame him for all of this to happened.

"Then what's she remembering?", "Chae just remember she's graduated from Sungkyunghwan university, she thought she still in Korea. She's so confuse how can she be here." Wow, her memory is going down back to a really long time.

"Will her memory be back again? What's the doctor said?" Jimin still calm but deep inside his heart, he's about to die. His heart died again. "The doctor wasn't sure, it has to be by herself to figure out. She is in long term memory loss, it's a real amnesia. She only remember about what happened five years ago." Jungkook said but suddenly he raised his eyebrows remember something.

"You know that she bounced from her seat to the front of my car, right? She's not wearing a seatbelt." Jimin widen his eyes remembering that time again. Oh yeah, right. She's about to kiss him that's why she released her seatbelt.

Jimin keep blaming himself of what happened, they should just had a talked inside the hotel and maybe just book a room. Why he has to drove to nowhere. He hurt her too many times. First, he broke her heart and now he broke her existence completely.

"What did you guys tell her?" , "Lisa told her that she's in accident with you, she's so shock that Chaeyoung got amnesia. Chaeyoung woke up two days before you. She's so oblivious when she heard your name. She wanted to see you but you're in ICU. Yesterday, Chaeyoung forgot about you again, it's a part of her amnesia thing. She tend to forget thing really fast, and she needs to learn processing her mind correctly because not just that, she's so hard to focusing on things." Jungkook see Jimin's face and Jimin just in silent, calmly hear what he's explaining the entire time.

Jungkook sighed and proceed to explain it to him. "Her parents said it's up to you for what you want to do with Chaeyoung, in condition like this her parents scared to force her getting to know you. They worried you'll get hurt."

Wow, although they never met but how thoughtful her parents can be. But, after awhile he's processing what's best for them, he conclude into one thing.

"Let her forget about me." He said. Jungkook shock of what his decision. "Wha-what? why?"

"She already gone through enough pain with me. Now, it involved her life. Something beyond my control. Until what kind of accident i should keep going? When she really gone? I can't."

"Tell her, i'm her friend. Don't say my name, just say whoever a name she isn't knowing." Jungkook just stare at him without argue with him. He feel sad to hear his decision but how can he argue, it's Jimin's love life and if he wants to be like that, just stay like that.

"Are you sure?" Jungkook raised his eyebrows. "Yes."

And then, Jungkook try to be presence for Jimin so he won't feel alone anymore. Him and Lisa being a thoughtful friends for him. Jimin got cleared out two days later but he need to check with the doctor weekly. Lisa always accompany him to the hospital because she has to check up with her OBGYN too. But, Jimin doesn't dare to ask her about Chaeyoung. He just wanted to move on. After a month, Jimin finally fully healed. He can walk but he still doesn't allow to run or take a jog.

But, after that accident, his mind full of guilt. He even can't drive because it feels like he got a trauma and when he's driving, he see his surrounding isn't safe at all. He got a hard time during work. He doesn't know why. Jimin eventually got into therapy session to cure his complicated mind.

"What do you want with your own mind?" Dr. Carlson asked him. Now, he's in a session with his therapist.

"I want to be peace, calm, and not too be tense anymore. Recently, i tend to get panic at work like i'm scared something bad happens in my job. I always scared or panic around my surroundings." He explained.

"Okay then, think deeply into your heart and ask yourself what thing you really want if you have a chance to forget about that trauma, hard work, and maybe Rosie." Dr. Carlson said.

Lisa is looking through a menu in her favorite Italian restaurant, the Rick's. She contemplate whether to order a pizza for share or just order a pasta and meatballs. She's really hungry, so maybe add some fries. She sigh because no one around her can make a decision for her. If Jungkook is here, he will order everything for the baby and end up he eat them all.

She heard a bell from the entrance door so she automatically look up and she's right. Chaeyoung finally arrived. She waved at her and Chaeyoung immediately recognize her.

"Hi! Sorry i'm late. I don't understand how bus work in New York and i try to make a subway card which was failed. So, i end up ride a taxi. The driver thought i'm a tourist, which is i feel like one since i can't recognize this city." Chaeyoung is blabbering so much. She's so stressful sometimes because this city is so strange for her.

"You're apartment is seven minutes away from here, i thought you were walking here?" Chaeyoung gritted her teeth. "Yeah. . . About that." Lisa tilt her head in confusion. "What?"

"I sleepover in there for a whole week, and I think i will move to my parents' house for awhile. I feel so strange and alone in here. I know i have you but still, you have a life on your own, your pregnancy, and Jungkook. I just have to adapt first but i need my parents' help." Lisa feel sad hearing her struggle. She wish she can tell about Jimin but days ago Jungkook told her to not talk about it as Jimin's requested.

"How about school?" Lisa asked. "I still try to adapt. I just need to learn their curriculum again. This Mark guy try to teach me how it works." Lisa raised her eyebrows. Okay, this Mark guy can't use an opportunity to get close with Chaeyoung when she forget about Jimin.

"Oh, okay, that's fine. So, how about your apartment, then?" She asked. "Alice offered me to stay there together for awhile although her work is in Brooklyn, she wants to help me for couple months." Lisa nodded.

They had a long talk on lunch and Lisa try to explain more to her about New York and what Chaeyoung was doing in the past but without telling anything about Jimin. She only said Jungkook's cousin, Chanyeol is hitting on her and she got annoyed because he's a playboy, she should still stay away from him in any cost.

They about to separate ways in front of the restaurant, Chaeyoung called her. "Lisa! I forgot, i just got a new phone. Give me your number." Lisa nodded and grab her phone. "They didn't find my phone in that car, were they?" Lisa froze when she heard it. Actually, she knows where her phone is but Jimin take it and hide it somewhere because it filled with her memories with Jimin.

"Ah yes, the police didn't find anything in there, i think maybe someone stole it or got threw somewhere." Lisa smile awkwardly and Chaeyoung just nodded.

After their hangout, Lisa decided visit Jungkook's office first before she's going back to hers.

"Hey babe." Lisa knock his door while peek from the doorway if he's busy. Jungkook is standing in front of the window while taking a call. He turn around immediately hang up his call when he see Lisa. He's a bit surprise. "I call you later, meeting on five tomorrow, you can inform my assistant."

"Hi, what are you doing here? Don't you have to get back at work?" Jungkook walk to her and give her a peck on cheek and rub her belly. "Hello baby." He said to her belly. Typical Jungkook always talk to Lisa's baby bump all the time.

"Yes, but there's nothing to do in there since i just finished my project and you mister," Lisa point her finger to his chest and continue. "Not allowing me to take up to three project so i'm free."

"That's good. You have to rest." Jungkook sternly said. Lisa just laugh and hug him tight. "Actually, i want to know how's Jimin doing. Since he got cleared up by the doctor i never met him again. So, how is he?"

Jungkook froze for a moment and he scratch his neck make Lisa confuse. "What? Why? Something's wrong?" , "uhm, no, actually. . . He left."

"What do you mean he's left?" Lisa still not understand what he meant. "He take a voluntary to Africa for three months."

Lisa widen her eyes, it's not so like Jimin. "What? Why?!" Her voice most likely to squealed. "He wants to clear his mind. He feel so stressful at work and he haunted by guilt. You know that he saw a therapist for a two months? I just found out before he left. I feel bad for him but if he feel it helps, i think we should support him." Lisa frown when she heard it. It's not fair.

"When did he leave?" , "Last week. He didn't tell anyone even me. I just found out two days ago, i don't know how to tell you, i'm still devastating." Jungkook look down because he feel sad for his best friend. Lisa immediately engulfed him in a hug once she saw him frowned. Jimin is his bestfriend and they're always lookout for each other, especially a hard times. But, this time is the first time Jimin take a step alone. Jimin is in so much pain and loss ever since Chaeyoung got an amnesia. 

"He's going to be fine, baby." Lisa assured him.

Meanwhile, in Chaeyoung's apartment, her sister Alice is staying there for two months. She help Chaeyoung to adjust her lifestyle. She is a lawyer in Brooklyn so it took 35-45 mins to go to work but she doesn't mind, as long as Chaeyoung can adapt her life someday in New York. She take a work from home twice a week since her office is far, so right now when Chaeyoung has to teach in Trinity, Alice decided to decluttering her apartment. 

When she's cleaning up the bathroom, she heard a doorbell. She run to the door immediately and glad who's coming, she already expect the person. 

"Lisa! Hey! Did you got it?" Alice immediately asked. "Yes! Kyle, where's the box?" Her driver suddenly show up from beside the door and bring a dozens of box that still folded. "Okay, come in. I already prepared everything to be put in." Alice invite Lisa and Kyle to come in. 

Alice and Lisa decided to decluttering Chaeyoung's stuff that she doesn't remember. Chaeyoung confused with all of it, so she think it helps if she completely see her apartment as a new clean one. She get rid all the stuff she doesn't like that apparently it's a gift from people in her internship. There's a preserved flowers in frame from a staff from Atlantic Records as a farewell gift from LA when she decided to move again to New York. 

She decided to put on e-bay a music instrument that she doesn't remember she learn it like Violin, Cello, and bass guitar. She isn't interesting in learn them anymore. Even bunch of photo frame her with her friends in internship, LA tour with j-hope, and her college days. She wantst to get rid of it for a moment because it's confusing for her if she look at it, and she feel burden if she see it like she has to remember her past. 

Lisa and Alice is in living room put everything to the box and Kyle help them by putting them in her car. Lisa and Alice decided to rent a storage room in downtown to pack all this stuff in there. When everything half way done, Alice remember something and she stand up to go to Chaeyoung's bedroom. 

"Uhm, Lisa. I already hide this from Chaeyoung like you said, are you sure he wants to hide all of this? There's still three more trash bag." Alice said as she grab two big trash bag on her hands. Lisa look up to her and sigh. "Yes, it's all he wanted to." 

Apparently, it's all a gift, photo, and her iPhone pack in them. When Chaeyoung still in her parents' to be cared by them, Jimin immediately told Lisa to get rid everything about him in Chaeyoung's apartment before she see it and ask Lisa what is it about. Alice is the one who pack it before Chaeyoung back to her apartment. There's a bunch of gifts, photo frame, his clothes that Chaeyoung wanted to keep, and a little thing like a movie tickets from all of their dates. 

"Why he has to do all this? It's cruel to do it to himself. I just think that they can have a new start, why he doesn't see it as an opportunity?!" Alice complained because Jimin seems like a nice guy and even her parents like him. 

Lisa sigh and chuckle. "Now, he just feel guilty and blame himself that all of these happened. He's not in New York, unnie. He take a voluntary project in Africa to ease his mind. He find it hard if he's the only one who remember everything." Alice shock when she heard about him. She try to understand it must be hard for people to be forgotten by the one they loves the most. 

"I hope they can be entangle again soon." Alice said as Kyle take all the box they packed. 

"I hope so too." Lisa sigh.
