Chapter 16

Chaeyoung's phone ringing when she's about to go home from school. It's Lisa. She pick it up right away. Since Lisa's accident, everyone around Lisa has been overprotective over her. Everytime she call somebody they will pick up right away. They still don't trust Jungkook since that day but Jungkook understand and try to make it up to everyone especially Lisa. Chaeyoung and Yoongi are the most overprotective people around her. 

"Hey! What are you doing? Where are you? Are you feel fine? How's the baby?" She can hear Lisa's laugh on the other line when Chaeyoung start asking bunch of question. "I'm at home. I'm fine, the baby just stay quiet which is good. I still not ready when my baby will kicking my belly once i reach my second trimester. But, i need a favor. Today's is Jin oppa's birthday, Jungkook prepare a whole big surprise. He can't pick me up to the event, and apparently i overslept and everyone's already there, the party is already started. Could you pick me up? Drive me to there? Be my plus one maybe. Jungkook won't allow me to drive, he's mad two days ago when i use our car to do groceries." 

Chaeyoung chuckle and nod her head. "Okay, i just finished a rehearsal for christmas concert, i will be there." And then they both hang up. Christmas concert in Trinity is happening in a week. Chaeyoung really happy because she's leading the Trinity elementary band. She arrange all the songs and the kids seems to enjoy it. Once, she caught her students hums the song she wrote in the hallway. She's really glad it's catching on. 

She decided to go straight to Lisa's apartment even though she still in work outfit, maybe she can borrow Lisa's clothes. She arrived quickly by cab, and ring the doorbell. Lisa open it right away and hug her. "Hi! Okay, i'm ready already. But, hey! you didn't change! You won't go?" Lisa is checking her out and frown. 

"I think i will borrow one of your dress. I just so lazy to go back, i'm hungry and i can't wait to eat the buffet at the party, it must be so good." Lisa laugh and grab her wrist to go to her bedroom. Lisa let Chaeyoung browse her closet by herself, she's too tired to search a dress for her. She lay down again on her bed while waiting for Chaeyoung to get dress. 

"So, how's school? Can i come to that christmas concert? Do you have two tickets for me and Jungkook? I want to see how's elementary school like. You know be prepare and stuff." She said while play with her phone. 

"I can do that but maybe not in a good seat because we prioritize student's parents. You know you can register your name in Trinity from now, because there's a long waiting list to the school. Apparently, a pre-ivy league school get a high demand and everyone who can get there only people who wait listed in there." Chaeyoung explained. 

"My baby isn't have a proper shape of body yet, and i should register already? Besides, how much the tuition? It can be ten thousand dollar! it's too much for an elementary kids." Lisa whined. She couldn't believe she has to start planning a future for her baby. 

"You know there's a parents who already register even when they just getting started to conceive. Jungkook is rich! He must be like the idea." Suddenly, she can hear Lisa scoffed. 

"Ugh! Don't remind me Jungkook with this baby. I couldn't take it anymore!" Lisa suddenly whined and get annoy if she remember him. "Huh? What happened?" 

"Everything happened. I appreciate all of you concern with me since that accident, but he just keep feel guilty and made him too overprotective with me, i start get irritate." Chaeyoung chuckle to her her whining.  "What did he do?" 

"He signed me to yoga for pregnancy, he signed both of us to baby class, and he already book a VVIP hospital room for me. He even train himself for an emergency, you know that he do jogging now as an exercise if someday my water broke and he has to run from his office to home. It's ridiculous. He even try to running from his office to mine." Chaeyoung got even more laugh to imagine since their office is so far from their home it's like twenty minutes walk. 

She come out from a bathroom with a new dress she choose from Lisa's closet. She wear black one shoulder mini dress with a stocking and pump shoes. She stand in front of Lisa and twirl. "How do i look?" Lisa is checking her out and sighed. 

"I hate that you look good in that dress. I miss when i still can wear a mini dress. My belly start showing and my mini dress lifted up everytime i wear it. You know what, you can keep it, i hate i can't wear those." She said. "But it's Saint Laurent!" , "So what? Take it, i never wear it." 

"You said Trinity is too expensive yet you throw away a thousand dollar dress." Chaeyoung sarcastically speak to her make Lisa rolled her eyes. But, Chaeyoung suddenly clear her throat and gritted her teeth while look at the mirror. "Uhm, by the way, will Jimin be there?" She asked but she scared Lisa will tease her. 

"I guess so, he's pretty close with Jungkook's family. Why? You still not talking with him? Will you be fine? If you don't want to go that's fine, i can make an excuse that i'm too tired. Jungkook will understand since he really obsessed of my health and he so happy if i just trap in this dungeon, lay in my bed." She scoff remember that man again and all of his crazy acts. 

"No, no. I really want to talk to him for weeks, i think i need to come clean about what are we going to do with our relationship. We need to agree with something." Lisa just sighed and look sad. She didn't understand why this two couple keep push and pull. They're more worse than Lisa and Jungkook. But, Lisa doesn't want to complain and nag her, because it's up to them and she's afraid it only make their relationship worse.

They arrived at the party in Four Season Hotel for the party. It's an intimate party yet Jungkook and other cousins decided to book a whole restaurant in five stars hotel. This is how rich people do a party. 

She handed Lisa's car key to the valet and proceed to enter the hotel. They arrived at the restaurant and it looks more like a formal black and white party. "They made black and white party two years in a row, it's ridiculous." Lisa start whine again but Chaeyoung notice something. For this past an hour they've been together, Lisa always angry and whining. She start to think it's a pregnancy brain all over.

"Okay, how about we find you a seat and i will greet Jungkook for you and Jin oppa to say happy birthday and give this gift you borrow. Lisa just get along with it and sit comfortably on the table that a host directed. Chaeyoung try to find Jisoo and Jin, she just hope they're together since she never knew Jin, they never met and she only heard from Jisoo. But, luckily she spot both of them together. 

Jisoo notice her presence and wave at her to come. "Hey, Chaeyoung! You come! I personally ask Jungkook for you to come." Chaeyoung tilt her head in confusion, Jungkook never asked her and she come only because of Lisa but she play along with her so there'll be no awkward moment. "Oh, yes, uhm, i came here with Lisa and she just tired easily, so i want to give this for Jin. This is from Lisa, i'm sorry i didn't bring him anything i don't know what he like." She smile awkwardly. 

"Oh yes! Jin, this is Chaeyoung, Lisa's friend." Jin offer a handshake and she gladly accept it. "Uhm, Happy birthday Jin-ssi. This is from Lisa." , "Thank you! I know you! Jimin always talked about you and he gave me your photo from his phone, it's like a year ago maybe? He's really fond of you, you guys really long lasting together." 

Jisoo nudge Jin's waist by her elbow make him flinch and furrows his eyebrows. "They're breaking up." Jisoo whispered but loud enough for Chaeyoung to hear. Jin widen his eyes and about to apologize but Chaeyoung beat him to speak first. "That's fine! We're okay now by the way. Uhm, i should go. I need to bring Lisa food." 

"Oh! Where is she sitting? I want to meet my baby sister-in-law." Jin said. "Oh she's there near the window." Jin nodded and left. Meanwhile, Chaeyoung approach the buffet to bring food for Lisa. She's about to grab a four mini quiche for her and Lisa but when she grab the last one, her forearm bumps with someone's. When she's looking up to say to the person to grab it anyway, her eyes is getting wide when she look up. It's Jimin. 

"Oh, hey, Rosie. Go ahead, i will take a mini burger instead." Chaeyoung still in silent and take a last mini quiche. "Wow, you're sure a fond of quiches." Chaeyoung widen her eyes when she realize he didn't know she's sharing a food with Lisa. 

"Uhm, it's-it's for Lisa, i'm taking a food for her." Jimin mouthed an 'O' and nodded. Chaeyoung contemplate how to bring three plates to her table, this is just too much, but somehow Jimin grab one plate. "Come on, i bring this to your table." Chaeyoung still silent and only give him a nod. When they arrived at her table, she can't spot Lisa in there. 

"Huh, where is she?" When she wonder around the restaurant suddenly Jimin speak. "She's in the balcony, i think she and Jungkook are having a fight." Jimin pointed to the balcony and they both are seeing Lisa point a finger at Jungkook's face. 

"I think Lisa is hot-headed these days, she keep ranting about everything. I think it's pregnancy phase." Chaeyoung said and sit on the table. She surprised that Jimin sit along with her, she start getting nervous because now he's beside her. He seems so calm. She just stay quiet while eating her food, she didn't dare to look at Jimin so Chaeyoung just keep her eyes on a little stage in the front where a guy play piano.

"So, uhm, how are you? i heard your school held a christmas concert." Jimin start a conversation. 

"How did you know?", "Mark." Chaeyoung suddenly scoffed remember what he did to Mark. How much he put an effort to got him a job, not just one but two jobs. "Yeah, right." She rolled her eyes. Jimin furrows his eyebrows and look at her. "Uhm, did i do something wrong?" He asked. But, Chaeyoung couldn't stand it and she suddenly stand up to go to the restroom, she feel uncomfortable with the vibe right now since he's pissing her off. 

"I need to go to the restroom, excuse me." And then with that she left. But, Jimin try to catch her when she's on a doorway of the restaurant, he grab her wrist and walk her to the hallway in more quiet area. Chaeyoung try to release his grip but he's too strong. 

"Let me go, Jimin. What's wrong with you?" Chaeyoung got angry at him. "You! What did i do wrong to make you angry like this?" Jimin asked. 

"Really? How about you didn't text me or even reply my message? You suddenly gone like that, how about that?" She start ranting at him. "You-you wait for my text?" Chaeyoung widen her eyes and realize she just open up to him. "N-no." 

"I thought it's what you want. If i can't accept your term, you will ask me to go." , "Oh right, the card is in my hand. So, you took a revenge at me by helping Mark got a jobs in Kraft-Heinz and Atlantic Records." Jimin taken aback by what she said, so she knew his intention. 

She continue, "If you want to hurt me, you succeed. I see your point, you make me jealous of him to get that amazing job and leave me here being only a lame music teacher." Oh, so Chaeyoung thought other thing, way what he really meant of his action. He roamed his eyes around the hotel but there's no other quiet space. It's friday night and the hotel packed. He think an idea. 

"Wait here, please. We should talk somewhere." Jimin run back to the restaurant and looking for Jungkook. He success find him. "Hey, hey, can i borrow your car, i need to go somewhere with Chaeyoung." Without any question, Jungkook handed his key and Jimin grab it fast. He run back to where Chaeyong's stand. 

He grab her wrist again to make her follow him. "I'll take you to your place, we need to talk in a quiet place." Chaeyoung oblivious and she just go along with him. She's getting tired to argue with him. Jimin take Jungkook's car and drive away. Since it's friday night and christmas is near, the traffic gets really bad too, and they stuck on a traffic. 

"You better tell me now, because this silence gets more awkward." She folded her arms in front of her chest while she put annoyance face because she thinks Jimin is a jerk. "I'm not trying to make you jealous or got a revenge on you." Chaeyoung frowned and look at him. "What?" 

Jimin sighed and loose his hands from the steering wheel, the traffic lights still red. "I was making Mark to stay away from you. I made him kept busy so he can't hangout with you after school. I saw Mark come by to your apartment, the day when you texted me saying we need to talk. But, when i decided to come by right away, i saw him. That day, i realize i just should move on but i'm not ready yet to see you with another guy, so i make him not seeing you too often until my feeling disappear. I'm sorry, i'm an ass." Jimin confessed. 

Chaeyoung widen her eyes hearing his confession. It's a weird tactic but somehow it's funny he can think an idea like that. It's little bit genius but also stupid. "You're an idiot." 

Jimin look at her in surprised. He thought she will get super mad at him and maybe start punching him. He already ready with all the outcome of his confession, but he didn't expect Chaeyoung can be this calm. "You could just confess to me, idiot." Jimin more taken aback because Chaeyoung keep insulting him but in a weird way. 

"Wh-what?" He stuttered, still not knowing where's this conversation going.

"Mark gave me an advice that day. Which was good, apparently. But, it's not about my plan. He told me someday i will get rid that plan away because it's just all in my head and i realize i didn't mean it, but i need you to move forward fist. So, I wait and wait, only to hear Mark got a big opportunity in your company and Atlantic Records. Since then, i thought you already hate me that's why i thought it's a part of your revenge plan." She confessed too. 

Jimin got softened when he heard her. He cup her cheeks and caress it. "Oh, Rosie. I would never do that! You're the love of my life. I just want to support what you want, as a part of my love for you." He said. 

But, Chaeyoung's eyes get teary really fast and she finally sniff. "But-but, why you didn't text me first. i-i-i was crying all night for days." She's start crying. Jimin panicked but the lights turn green so he try to drive fast to seclude road. He finally find a parking spot nearby to continue their conversation. He immediately turn off the engine and pull her into a hug. Chaeyoung is really crying out loud.

"Sshh, Rosie. I'm sorry, i was too scared you will ended things between us. It's all misunderstanding. I love you, i always want to come back to you." He said, trying to console her. 

"I-i-i love you too. I always-uh-always want to come back to you too." She talk in his chest while keep sobbing. After awhile Jimin try to calm her down, finally she stop crying. Jimin release their hug and cup her cheeks to wipe her tears.

"So, what do you want?" Jimin asked. "I want you. Let's move in together, Jimin." Jimin widen his eyes but he smile widely. "Are you sure?" He reassured her again, and Chaeyoung nod her head. Then, Jimin pull her into a deep kiss. She smile and put her arms around his neck and move her lips along with his. Jimin couldn't feel more blessed then this. If he didn't plan an idea for Mark, he won't get any of this to happened. Between a chaos of misunderstanding, there's a beauty in it. Jimin wouldn't know what's real reason behind Chaeyoung's doubt and Chaeyoung won't know how much Jimin love her that he's willing to do all of that to Mark to stay away from her. 

When they're making out in a random parking lot, Jimin's phone ring. "Ignore it." Jimin said between their kisses. Chaeyoung chuckle and shake her head. "You should take it." Jimin groaned and let out his phone from his pocket. It's Jungkook. After Chaeyoung wait for him talk to Jungkook on the phone, Jimin hang up and start to speak. "We should go back, they're cutting the cake and they want us to be in a photo together." 

Chaeyoung nodded and Jimin drives back to the venue. On the way, Chaeyoung keep staring at Jimin make him feel nervous while driving. His hands start getting sweaty on the steering wheels. "You should stop looking at me like that, i'm getting nervous here." Jimin start talking when they stop on the red lights. 

Chaeyoung giggle at him and unbuckle her seatbelt. "I just can't stop thinking the stupid thing you did to Mark, it's so funny you planned like that." Jimin groaned but suddenly she cupped his cheek to get his attention into her eyes. 

"I always love you even if we're parted ways, it won't be change. Never, in any lifetime." Chaeyoung assured him, make Jimin smile. Chaeyoung decided to give him another peck on his lips, so she lean in. 

When he's about to close his eyes to receive her peck, he heard a loud honk coming from the back. But, he didn't have a chance to turn his head and a truck coming fast to their car. Everything happen so fast. 

Jimin's head hit the steering wheel but luckily his body stuck on his seat because he's wearing his seatbelt. But, the hit make him unconscious because he got hit into the steering wheel so hard. But, not with Chaeyoung. 

The truck make the car move forward along until it crashed into street lights, make her body bounce into the front window. Her body got out to a hood of the car. She's unconscious right away. Everything turn black for both of them. It changes everything in a snapped. Suddenly, there's a blood running through Chaeyoung's head and nose. 

Is it all over?

...

"Female and male, around mid 20s, got into car crashed in 52th west street. A truck hit them from the back." A paramedic speak as soon as doctor and residents open the ambulance door. They carry two bodies in two ambulance. They let out Chaeyoung's first in a gurney. "Tachycardic and hypotensive en route." A paramedic explained to the doctor. 

Another ambulance arrived in the hospital. Another paramedic open the door and let out Jimin this time. "Head and chest injuries, multiple cut on the forehead." A paramedic explained and a bunch of residents wheel him out to take him to emergency wing with Chaeyoung. 

"Hello, sir, can you hear me? Everything's going to be okay." A resident called him. Apparently, on the way to the hospital, he got his conscious back but he can't do anything. His body numb. He wear cervical collar round his neck and an oxygen on his mouth. His eyes wonder around still in daze of what's going on. 

"He's hemorrhaging." Another resident said. 

They both got into a different room for further observation. Jimin start hyperventilating and he can't calm down. His head full of Chaeyoung. Where is she and what'a going on exactly. He heard a loud honk and everything turn black. Once he woke up, he's in an ambulance and he can't talk. 

A doctor come to him with a lights to check his pupils. "Tell CT to get ready for him." The doctor tell his resident. 

'Rosie, where is she? Is she okay?' Jimin can't speak but he can only talk in his mind. 

"No obvious spinal deformities." Another doctor said as she check his body. 

'Please, let me see her. Somebody tell me what happened with her!' He can't scream loudly, he can only scream on his mind. 

"Get me two bags of blood." A doctor ordered to a nurse once a resident check his blood type. The nurse nodded and run away to get one. "Set up a chest tube." A doctor ordered another doctor that come along with him. "I'm on it." 

'Is this the end? Is this the end of us? Where's Rosie?' Even though there's so many doctors and residents around him, and they talk to him to make sure everything's fine, he still not care about it. He care about what's going on with his Rosie right now.

"I need to check his spinal, please make a room and move his body to the side for a moment." Nurses and residents help the doctor to change his position to the side for a moment. There's a blood on his waist. Jimin's body turn to the side when it happened so his waist got hit with the steering wheel too. 

"1, 2, 3. Turn!" Four of them turn Jimin to the side and the doctor rub his back to check if any broken bone and check where's the blood come from. 

When he got turn by the doctor, his eyes see straight to another room. There's Chaeyoung on the other side. Luckily, observation room is cover with a window wall, so he can see her clearly. She's unconscious, her eyes closed. There's multiple doctor around her try to check on her. He can hear them panicking. 'Please let her be fine. Rosie, could you wake up for me?'

"I need a 36 french tube. Give me a stat, temp?" The doctor from her room yell to the nurse. "35 degrees." 

'Rosie, please wake up baby. You need to wake up!' Jimin keep calling her in his mind. His doctor lay him down again but Jimin's head keep turn to other room where Chaeyoung is. 

Suddenly, the monitor in her room start making a sound. Her heart stop, so is he when he heard it. 'Rosie, you have to live! Live for me! Live for us!' The nurse give the doctor defibrillator. "Charge to 100." He shock her by her chest and she jolted up but still no beat. 

'I love you too. I always want to come back to you too.' That words coming from her mouth not too long ago. So, Jimin pleaded to god to make her come back again. To his arms. 

"Charge to 150." The doctor ordered the nurse again and she nodded. "Charge to 150." She repeat. The doctor shock her again but after waiting for a second, there's still no change in a monitor.

Another tragedy for both of them. It's like universe not wanting them to collide. To make another story to be happily together. He doesn't expect a happily ever after but at least at the moment, they're both happy. 

'I want you. Let's move in together, Jimin.' When he heard her said it, he start imagine that apartment again. That two bedroom apartment in his building. That beautiful view of Riverside South Park. He can see her lingering on the apartment, cooking, kissing, and singing like she used to do a year ago in his apartment all day after class. What happened to that? Does the universe not allow him to have that again?

"Charge to 200." The doctor order the nurse again. Chaeyoung still has no heart beat.  Where is that? Is that gone? Is she really gone?

'I always love you even if we're parted ways, it won't be change. Never, in any lifetime.' Jimin remember that words again. He tilt his head up and everything start getting blurry, he still not knowing what happened when they charge her to 200. He just hope everything's fine. 

Never in his lifetime too, his love will change. It's always be her. 

With that, everything black again.
