Chapter 29

Misty's POV

I sat in Seth's car as he drove us to grab some lunch since we were both starving. I decided to not think about Calum. All he was, was a problem to me and my life.

'Just let it go.'

I would tell myself every time one of us would mess up which was usually Calum.

"Let's go."

Seth tried to say cheerily. I loved how Seth stuck around even if I was a problem too.

"Seth?"

I asked walking up next to him.

"Hm?"

He stuffed his hands in his jacket pocket and looked down at me.

"Why are you still my friend after all of..this."

I said motioning my hands over me. He looked straight this time to open the door for me to go in first.

"Well. You're the first person to have the same mind as me. To be successful. And I guess none of my other friends had that mentality. They all ditched their dreams to party, do drugs, and have sex."

He stopped as a waitress took us to our table.

"And you're the only one who doesn't want that life."

"Well what about my problems. I mean, how do you keep up with me."

"Well every problem is fixable. And I just happened to be here while you were in the middle of it so thank me."

He smiled and slid a menu towards me.

"Order what you want because-"

"I'm paying."

I said smirking at him.

"Hey-"

"Seth"

I shook my head and looked down at the menu picking chicken tenders and a sweet tea. The same waitress that seated us came and took our orders.

"What would you like?"

She asked me getting ready to write on her little note pad.

"Chicken tenders and a sweet tea please."

I closed the menu and slid it over to her.

"And what about you babe?"

I bit my lip trying not to smile and laugh as she took Seth's order of a cheeseburger and a coke. Seth looked at me with surprised eyes as she left us to make our food.

"Well Seth, I see you're pulling all the ladies."

I wiggled my eyebrows at him as he threw a piece of his napkin at me.

"Whatever. I'm sorry are you embarrassed of my charming looks?"

I laughed hard and took the same piece if napkin and threw it back at him.

"You're funny pepper."

"Oh you're using my last name now?"

I giggled and cleared the table as the waitress set our food down.

"Dig in."

The waitress said mostly to Seth who was already picking up his cheeseburger and stuffing his face. I read her name tag which read, Mandy. As she walked away I started dipping my chicken in the sauce that she gave us.

"This is so good."

Seth said throwing his head up moaning.

"Seth!"

I whispered smiling trying not to laugh again.

"What?"

He said with his mouthful.

After we finished, I paid this time earning a deadly glare from Seth, we stood up and made our ways to the exit.

"Isn't that Calum?"

Seth said making me look in the direction that his eyes were looking. And sure enough it was Calum sitting with Ashton eating their food. Was he here the whole time? Did he see me?

I sat in the passenger seat and turned on the radio hoping to listen to anything good at this moment. I flipped through the stations finally settling on one that was playing 'Like we used to' by A rocket to the moon.

"Where too now?"

Seth asked as he turned out of the restaurants parking lot.

"I don't know."

I shrugged and leaned on the window feeling the cold glass on my cheek.

"How bout movies round 2?"

I gave an uncomfortable laugh remembering what happened last time I went to the movies.

"Hey, they won't be there this time. I promise."

Seth said referring to Calum and Mona. I gave a huge sigh and agreed. We agreed to watch Maleficent, the new Angelina Jolie movie.

As we pulled up into the movie theater parking lot, my phone buzzed showing a green message labeled 'Calum (:'.

Speak of the devil. I showed my screen to Seth as he unbuckled his seat belt. He took my phone locked it and gave it back to me.

"After the movie."

I nodded and got out if the car walking into the theater.

"Two for Maleficent, please."

Seth said pushing me behind him.

"You little-"

I started saying but he cut me off.

"Thank you! Lets go."

He took my hand and pulled me down the hallway and into the dark theater. We sat in the very back row so that we wouldn't be in anyone's way while watching.

This time in actually paid attention to the movie. It was a normal day with my best friend. It felt good to be away from everything especially all of my problems with Calum. As the title of the movie came onto the screen I sighed and leaned back and kicked my feet on the chairs in front of me, Seth doing the same.

After the movie, we just sat in Seth's car to figure out were to go next. I went on yelp to find any cafés to go to but all of them were closed since it was 10:23 pm.

"Do you want to have a sleep over at my house?"

"Yeah sure."

I wasn't ready to face Jess or Calum just yet.

"Can we go to Jess's so I can pick up some clothes and my tooth brush?"

Seth nodded and drove out of the parking lot to head to Jess's house. I went to check my phone finally realizing that Calum one called me once this time. He was probably finally realizing that I needed space and time.

As we parked in Jess's driveway, I saw that Jess wasn't home but someone's car was. It couldn't be Calum he didn't have a red car. But the car looked familiar.

I told Seth to wait in the car as I quickly took out my keys and opened the door and ran up the stairs to my room. I opened my door to quickly pack my bag.

"Misty?"

I stopped in my tracks I couldn't believe it. He was here. He was actually here on my bed.

He got up and walked towards me with open arms.

"Sam?"

I whispered barely talking. I was shaking. I missed him so much. I hugged him tightly not wanted to let go of him.

"How did you get here?"

"Well it was supposed to be a surprise."

I had so many questions that I was going to ask but I realized that I left Seth waiting outside.

Before I left I saw Calum walk out of my bathroom. Of course. I didn't want to talk to him. Not right now with my brother in the room.

"I have to go. I'm sorry we can talk tomorrow?."

I quickly took my duffel bag which was already filled with clothes and an extra toothbrush.

"Misty call me later please."

I heard Calum call after me after I opened the door.

"Okay."

I turned around and looked at my brother and Calum in the same room. I wonder what they were talking about before I got here. I wondered how long they were here for.

Sam.

I haven't seen him since I left home. He was probably on a business trip here. I should probably call him later. I jogged out the door and opened the passenger door to get in.

"Ready to go?"

Seth said as he started his engine. I nodded and took my phone out to text my brother.

-Hey

-I just left your house. Sorry for not warning you that I was here.

-It's ok. How long are you staying?

-For a couple of months for my job.

-Okay that's good.

-Yeah Calum told me what was going on, Are you okay?

Sam's protective side was showing. I remembered every time I went out with a boy or even walked next to a boy in school, he would always be right behind me watching my every move. I smiled to myself remembering my relationship with my brother before he left for college.

-Yeah we can talk over breakfast or lunch tomorrow?

-Lunch

I didn't reply since we arrived at Seth's coffee smelling apartment. I loved it here. It was like my safe haven away from everything that was happening even if I've only been here twice.

"Alright let's go!"

Seth took my bag off my lap and jumped out of his car and waited for me to get out to lock his car.

He took my bags in a room next to his, probably a guest room. I opened the door and a whiff of vanilla came out.

"You can stay in here."

He dropped my bag on the nicely made bed like it was untouched.

"Wow. Does anyone stay in here?"

Seth scratched the back of his neck and shrugged.

"Well some of my old friends came over but that's it."

"Oh."

I gave him a small smile and went to find my toothbrush.

"I swear it's clean!"

I giggled and turned around to see him crossing his arms.

"I believe you"

I poked him in the stomach making him flinch. I walked away to the opposite end of the bed to get ready for bed.

"Alright come out when your done."

I nodded and walked out of the room to the bathroom.
