Chapter 63

01:07, 20 April 2014

I woke up because of my alarm, I shut it off quickly and then went into the bathroom. I had a quick shower and then got ready for today. I put on some dark skinny jeans and a knitted sweater. I didn't make much effort as I was going to be on Ellen and so I'd be getting my hair and makeup done by a professional.

Mom and Dad are coming with me today so I went downstairs and found them in the kitchen. "Hey, Lon, what time did Cody leave last night?" Mom asked. "Like elevenish." I lied. "That's funny, we went to bed after that. I'm sure we would of heard him come downstairs." Dad said.

Quick! Think of something to say! "Did I say eleven? I meant twelve." I smiled innocently and grabbed a pop tart. "Shall we go?" I needed to get them out of here before Cody tries to leave. "Come on then." Mom said and we all went outside.

I paused when I saw Cody's car parked on the driveway. "Lauren?!" Dad looked at me, I flashed my innocent smile once more. "Maybe he walked home." I shrugged and got into the back seat of our car. "So if I were to go into your bedroom right now, you're telling me I wouldn't find a boy who looks just like Cody asleep in your bed?" Dad got into the car too, so did Mom.

"That would be correct." I smiled and nodded. "Okay, let's go check it out Sarah!" Dad opened the car door. "Okay! Okay! I'm lying." I gave in. "The boy better be clothed. That's all I gotta say." Dad started the engine. I gave Mom a guilty look which made her laugh.

"He is, isn't he?" "Of course he is!" I lied once again. "Let's hope Trey doesn't go in there." Dad sighed. "I'll be right back!" I got out the car and ran into the house. "Cody!" I shouted as I ran into my bedroom. "What? What's wrong?" He was stood there fully dressed, I let out a sigh.

"Nothing," I smiled "Going to be on Ellen today, wish me luck!" I quickly pecked his lips and then ran back downstairs and got back into the car. "Okay, you can go now." I smiled as I did up my belt. Mom and Dad laughed at me, I did too.

"I wanna take a photo of your door!" Mom got out her phone, Dad and I gave each other a look. "What? I'm a proud Momma!" Mom said, I walked into my dressing room and Dad followed. "So you're used to this then?" "I'm getting there. I spent a whole three months with security, dressing rooms and this life style." I said to Dad as he make himself comfortable on the couch.

Mom joined us in the dressing room with some other people. "Hello, Lauren." A male smiled at me, I smiled back. "I'm Jason, this is Mike, Kiera and Fiona. We'll be your hair and makeup crew for today." He explained. "Okay." I nodded with a smile.

"I recognise you." I pointed to Mike. "I've done some work at photoshoots with your boyfriend." "He's not my boyfriend anymore." "Oh." "But it's okay!" I laughed as I could tell he felt awkward. "So shall we get started?" I asked, they agreed and started on my hair and makeup.

"You look so beautiful!" My mom gasped as she looked at my reflection in the mirror. "I know!" I agreed. "It's as if I've been photoshopped." Dad laughed at the two of us as we stared at myself in wonderment. "You alwayse look beautiful. No amount of makeup, hair products or fancy clothes will change it." He said.

"Aw Daddy!" I hugged him, he hugged me back. Someone knocked on the door and opened it, we all looked over. "Lauren, you're on after this break. Please can you follow me?" He asked. I nodded and followed him.

"My name is Gary," He greeted as we stopped walking. "I'm here to tell you when to go on, here's your mic." He handed it to me. "Can you attach it for me please?" I asked and handed it back to him, Gary laughed and then attached it.

"I can tell you're nervous, first ever interview?" "Yup." I nodded. "Don't worry about it. Ellen is lovely and once you're sat with her all the nerves will disapear." Gary smiled at me, I smiled back. I heard Ellen start to talk.

"So can everyone please welcome our next guest, Lauren Miller!" Ellen introduced, I was pushed out of the wing as mine and Cody's song started playing. The audience clapped and Ellen hugged me before we sat down on our chairs.

"Hi." I smiled. "Can I just say, you're one of the most beautiful sixteen-year-old's I've ever met." Ellen smiled at me, my smile grew. "Thank you!" "I bet you hear that fron a lot of people?" "Family and friends." "Alright, well let's jump right in on the obvious question which everyone is dying to know about," she started. What's she gonna say?!

"I don't even have to ask. Two words. One name. Cody Simpson." As she said his name some of the girls in the audience started screaming which made me laugh. "Uh- I've known him since I was like twelve." I said.

"Is that all you wanna say?" She edged, I giggled. "He's a nice kid." I smiled. "You like him then, huh?" "Yeah." I nodded. "A lot it seems." She turned around to a screen where loads of pictures of us came up. How am I going to tell her we're not dating?

"But we've not seen you guys together in a while, are ya'll still dating or what?" "Alli posted a picture of us last night." "Oh yes, at a party?" "My little sister, she just turned seven." "Does she like him?" "She loves him." "So ya'll are still dating?" I shook my head.

"No. We broke up a few weeks back." The audience 'aw'ed me. "But it's fine, we're friends. I never used to like him before. I really really didn't like him but now we're cool." "That's good. How come you broke up if you don't mind me asking?"

"We kept arguing and it just didn't feel right anymore so he said he wanted a break and I said I wanted a break up." I shrugged. "Do you miss him?" "I still see him all the time, it's actually hard to get away from him." I laugehd to myself, Ellen laughed too.

"So we all know you've got a growing amount of fans, is there anything you wanna say to them?" "Um- I dunno- Just hi and I love you." "That's sweet." Ellen cooed, I giggled. "I love that little giggle." Ellen laughed which made me giggle again.

After the interview we went out to lunch and then went back home. "Mind if I go out for a walk? I have some thinking to do." I said to Mom. "That's fine sweetie, just be safe, take your phone and be back before it gets dark." "Okay, see you later." I kissed her cheek and left the house.

I went to the haunted house and sat in the tree house. I was thinking about Cody, what happened last night and if I wanted to be with him still. I love him so much but I can't let him hurt me like he does. It's not fair. He was probably just horny and doesn't even want to be with m- My thoughts were cut off by my phone going off.

Cody: Come and meet me? We need to talk.

Me: I'm at the haunted house if you want me.

Cody didn't text back but after about ten minutes his car pulled into the driveway. I watched him walk down to where I was. He climbed up and sat next to me. We sat in silence for a few minutes, although I couldn't work out whether it was awkward or not.

"I watched you on Ellen." Cody finally broke the silence. "And that's what you came here to tell me?" I looked at him. "I came here to ask you something." "Go on then." "What did last night mean to you? Honestly." "What did it mean to you?" "Answer my question first." He insisted.

"I don't know what you want me to say, you give me so many mixed signals and it drives me crazy. It seems to me that all you wanted was sex. You know how to get me to want it as well so you chose to do that because you find that easier than fi-" "That's really what you think of me?" He sounded hurt.

"I just thought that maybe that's all you wanted." I shrugged and looked down. "You told Ellen I'm not your boyfriend." "You're not." "What we shared last night tells me something different." "No it doesn't." Cody gave me a weird look as I said that.

"What we shared last night was love. It wasn't relationship." "I want it back." "Even though I'm a slu-" "I never said that you were any of the words you're thinking of. I was mad at you." "Being mad doesn't mean it's okay." "I never said that either."

"We can't go a day without an argument, how do you expect us to be together when all we do is argue?" "It's healthy. I get more worried when you don't fight back because when we fight we're fighting for each other. If you don't want to do that anymore, that's alright with me, but please give us another chance."

"That night in Bora Bora I said one chance," I looked at him. "I've given you a lot more than one." "One more, don't you miss the closeness?" He searched my eyes. "Last night was amazing, but it's not always like that, Cody."

"Forget about last night, that doesn't matter right now. What matters is you. That's all that matters to me, I love you Lauren. All of you. I love the way your eyes sparkle in the moonlight and the way you smile. Your real smile, when you smile at something Lilly's said or something Alli's done. I love the way you look at me and then when I look at you, you look down and smile to yourself. You have no idea how beautiful you are when you do that. I love the way you don't care about the material things, you'd quite happily be given a trip to the beach over a diamond ring. I love when you get mad and you shout at me, I get mad too but you're so adorable when you're mad. Maybe you don't wanna fight for us anymore but I'm willing to fight through anything, it's us against the world, baby. If you say yes, I promise you that we'll make it." He had tears in his eyes as he spoke.

I crawled onto his lap and sat facing him. "I love you too." I rested my forehead on his. "We'll keep fighting through everything. No matter what may come our way, we're going to keep going because no matter how hard I try I cannot get away from you. I can't stay away either. It's supposed to be this way, we just don't know it yet. It's a bumpy road but I'm happy to ride it with you." I pressed my lips against his.

Cody put his hands on my back to support me as he got onto his knees and layed me down. He hovered over me as we kissed slowly. After a few minutes of making out I pulled away. "I have to be home before it gets dark." I said. "I'll take you home now then." "You're not staying?" "Do you want me to?" He asked, I nodded.

We were walking up to the car when my phone started ringing. "It's Mom." I said before answering and pushing it up to ear. "Hey." "Lauren, are you on your way home?" "Yes. Cody's going to bring me back." "Is he driving?" "Yeah." "Can you guys do us a favour?" "Wait there."

"Can we do Mom a favour?" I asked Cody. "What is it?" He asked, I returned to my phone call. "What's the favour?" "If Dad calls and oders some Chinese can you guys pick it up?" "Hold on." "If Dad orders Chinese, can we pick it up?" I said to Cody.

"Sure." He smiled. "He said yeah." "What do you want?" "Cody's eating too." I said to her. "I guessed but I still need to know what you want." "Okay, we'll text you in a minute." "Alright, bye." "Bye." I hung up the phone. "What do we want to eat?" I asked Cody as we got into the car.

Once we'd eaten the food I went to get ready for bed. "Your mom was saying you might go on a tour around America and Canada." Cody said as he got into bed with me. "That's nice." "How come you didn't tell me?" "Lots of reasons." "Care to give me some?"

"I don't know if I'm even going to do it. Me and Matt were thinking about it so that we could warm people up and get me out there. I wasn't keeping it from you I just didn't see the need to tell you." I said as I cuddled up to him.

"I think you should do it." "You would." "You'll have fun." "You would come with me, right?" I asked, Cody nodded. "I have a photoshoot tomorrow." I told him. "Wow, you're really busy." "It's for the album cover." "When's it coming out?" "Two weeks and that's when Matt wants us to kick off this tour." "That's a good idea." "It's scary." I said quietly.

"Someone once told me that if you hold back from something you'll regret it later on in life, they said it's easier to laugh at the mistakes they made ten years ago rather than thinking 'what if', you know who that person was?" Cody asked. "Me. I said that." "Then what are you waiting for?"

"I was never scared of anything. I was such a daredevil and I was so willing to play with fire. Danger made things more fun but it's different now. I have a little sister who looks up to me and follows my actions not my advice. I want to be a good role model for her." I confessed.

"Imagine how much she would look up to you if she got to watch you on stage. Imagine all the other little girls who don't have big sisters, you'd be able to be their big sister." "It's a huge risk." "I'll be right there to catch you if you fall." "You promise?" "Do I even need to answer that?" He asked.

"I love you, Cody." "I love you too." I smiled as he said that. "How about I take you to see Matt tomorrow?" "He's going to be at the photoshoot." "I'm coming too!" Cody said as if he was a five-year-old going into a sweet shop. I laughed at him.

I ran my fingers along his abs as we layed in the darkness and silence. "Cody?" I whispered, he didn't answer. "Codes?" I looked up at him. He was asleep and looked so adorable. I smiled and kissed his cheek before snuggling into him and closing my eyes ready to go to sleep too.
