Chapter 49
00:22, 25 March 2014"What the hell has happened in here?!" I heard Brad shout. I jumped and quickly woke up, Cody did the same. We were thankfully covered by the blankets. "Dad! How did you get in here?" "Get up and get dressed both of you! You have a lot of explaining to do!" He scolded and walked out of the bedroom.
"Oh no." I looked around the room and then looked at Cody. "It's okay, he's just going to shout at us and be mad for a while and then it'll all be back to normal." He kissed my forehead and then got out of bed. He quickly put on some swimming trunks and a shirt and then left.
I qucikly got dressed into a bikini and a shirt and shorts and then walked into the living room where what sounded like a war was going on. "No! That's not happening!" "I trusted you guys to be responsible but you clearly can't!" "We can, one slip up! Please don't." Cody begged.
"No, Cody!" "Dad, please!" "You have ten minutes to tidy this place and get ready." Brad walked to the door. "Don't do it dad." "You don't have a choice." He slammed the door behind him. "Do what?" "Nothing, just get ready. We're going to my grandparents today." He walked back into the bedroom.
Once we were both ready we cleaned up all the bottles and our clothes which were everywhere. "I think we're done." I said. "I'm dreading this." Cody looked at the door, I did too. "Just don't let him get to you, act like nothing happened." I walked over and opened it.
"Come on." Cody followed me out the door, we met the others in the lobby. "Morning." Alli smiled, I smiled back. "Do you know why dad's so mad?" She whispered in my ear, I took the easy option and shook my head.
The car ride was awkward, the tension was too much. Alli and Tom had no idea what was going on but I could tell Angie knew as she kept telling Brad to calm down. Brad kept giving Cody looks through the mirror in the car. "I can't do this." Cody whispered to me.
"What else are you going to do?" I whispered back. "I just need to talk to him and expla-" "Explain what? We got drunk and had sex? There is no explaining Cody." "Don't blame me, I didn't force six of them down your throat." He defended himself.
"It's going to be okay, Cody." I assured him, he groaned and looked out the window. We pulled up at what I am assuming is their grandparent's house. Everyone got out of the car, Brad stopped Cody and I before we could walk to the front door.
"You're going to introduce yourself as Alli's friend, not Cody's girlfriend.. Okay?" I nodded. "Also, I don't know whether Cody told you or not, you guys are coming to the penthouse with us and won't be sleeping in the same room anymore." Brad told me.
"Wha-" "Don't argue with me!" He warned, I nodded quickly. I've never seen him this mad before. Anyways we went into the house. "And who's this lovely lady? One of your girls, aye Cody?" His grandad nudged him. "Uh no, she's Lauren. Alli's best friend."
Alli gave us both a weird look, so did Tom. "Nice to meet you." I smiled. "You too, Lauren." He hugged me. After a while Alli pulled me to the side. "My best friend? What?" "Charming." I said sarcastically. "You know what I mean.. Why didn't Cody say you're his girlfriend?"
"Because your dad said not to." "What?! Why?" "I'll explain later." I said, everyone caught up and we all talked for a few hours. I was pulled to the side again, this time by Angie. "Are you okay? You haven't said anything all day." "What do you want me to say? Brad hates me." I felt tears form in my eyes.
"Oh sweetie, he doesn't hate you." She hugged me, I started to cry. "I promise you he doesn't hate you, he's just mad." "But why? We're teenagers, it's obviously going to happen and I just don't understand." "He was scared, Lon." He kissed my forehead.
"Scared of what?" "You were drunk clearly and you'd had sex, there's lots of things that can go wrong when you're not thinki-" "Oh my gosh!" I gasped, Angie gave me a weird look. "What?" "Oh no!" "What's happened?"
"I think Cody forgot to use a uh, thing." I said worried. "Cody?!" Angie called him, he appeared after a few seconds. "What did I do now?" "It's what you didn't do." Angie said, he gave me a weird look. "Last night, when we.. You know?" I tried to remind him.
"What did I forget?" "Protection?" Angie suggested, Cody shook his head. "I wasn't that drunk." He laughed slightly. "I don't remember you putting one on." I said. "I'm going to go back in the living room, you can talk this through." Angie left us.
"Are you sure you did?" I bit my nails. "I promise you." He removed my hand from my mouth and replaced it with his lips. "Have you been crying?" He asked, I shook my head. "Are you lying?" I nodded my head. "Why?" "I don't want to talk about it."
"I love you, okay?" "I love you too." Cody hugged me and kissed my head. "We just gotta make it through the next few hours and then we can go and do our own thing." "Promise?" I looked up into his eyes. "I promise." He kissed my lips once more and we walked back into the living room.
"Hey, Cody, come look at this." His grandma had a photo album in her hand. "What is it?" "It's you when you were younger." "I wanna see!" I ran over and stood next to her. "Aww! Look at him! Why is he crying?" I asked.
"He was scared of the beach." His grandma explained. "He was terrified of the beach growing up, the sand scared him." "Aw poor Cody." I pouted at him, he laughed. "And look at this one! Spaghetti hoops all around his face." I poined to the photo.
"Aw and he's got no clothes on here!" His grandma and I giggled at it. "Okay, we don't have to look at these anymore." Cody took the album off us. "Someone's being grumpy." I teased. "Okay! Who wants food?" Brad interrupted before Cody could say something back.
"Uh, sure." Cody walked outside into the backyard, his grandad followed him. Brad gave me a look to say 'don't follow him' so I didn't. "Lauren? Can you help us in the kitchen please?" Angie asked, I nodded and walked in there.
"You and my grandson get on pretty well, don't you?" Cody's grandma started a conversation, I nodded trying not to smile. "Keep this between us three but I think he likes you." She nudged me. "Nah, we're just friends." "You're quite flirty." She winked, Angie tried to hold in a laugh.
"He's nice but he'll always be Alli's big brother to me." I smiled and carried on helping with the food. I was alone in the kitchen when Cody came in. "Grandad just told me I should ask you out on a date." He said as he wrapped his arms around my stomach and rested his chin on my shoulder.
"Your grandma told me she thinks you like me." "I do." He kissed my cheek. "When we get back, we have to pack our things and take them up to the penthouse but then we can go do whatever we want." "Okay, what's happening for bedrooms?" I asked.
"You and Alli are sharing the twin room, I have a double bed and so does Tom." "Oh okay." "But I'll come and get in your bed when dad's asleep." "No you won't!" I heard Brad, we seperated as quick as we could. "Don't even think about it." He warned us.
"I wa- Uh- We jus- I- Uh-" Cody suttered. "What's going on in here?" Angie walked in. "They're goi-" "We're not going to do anything, dad! Just shut up!" Cody raised his voice. "Cody, shh." I put my hand on his chest to calm him down. "Oh and do you wanna know another thing?" Brad asked, I was scared at what he was going to say next.
"When we get back to California.. You're not seeing each other!" "Brad!" Angie scolded. "No, Angie. I don't want this happening again!" "They've been doing it since he turned 17!" She shouted. "What?!" "Go." Cody said in my ear, I looked at him. "Wait for me outside, go." He pushed me foreward.
I walked through the house and out the front door. After about ten minutes Cody came out too, he grabbed my hand and started running down driveway. "Where are we going?" I asked as we slowed down and began to walk. "I don't know but I need to get away from all of them."
"Did he tell your grandparents?" "Yes, they were all shouting at me. It was as if mom is the only one who sees sense." He rolled his eyes. I leaned my head on his arm. "It'll get better." "It's just annoying, surely your dad should of been the one who freaked. Not mine." "I know." I agreed.
"What are we going to do when we get back home?" "We'll have to think of a plan. It won't be easy though, especially not with your career starting." "You're going to let me be a model?!" I grinned. "I can't stop you." "But you're okay with it?" "I want to come to your photoshoots." He proposed, I laughed.
"Alright Simpson." "Also I have a question to ask you." We sat down on a bench. "Will you be the girl in my next music video?" "I'm not allowed to see you in California." "We'll say it's for work, he can't deny you a career, a future. He still cares about you, he's just mad at us."
"I love you, Cody." I leaned my head on his shoulder, he kissed my head and then leant his head on mine. "I love you too." "What are we gonna do now?!" I exhailed and leaned back as I said it. "Marry me?" I laughed at Cody's question.
"No, don't laugh. I'm being serious.. Marry me?" "You're being silly." "Don't lau-" "We're too young and it's a dumb way to rebel." I cut him off. "What?" "You're trying to think of the best way to annoy your dad right now, it's not a good idea." "And you're the rebellion expect?"
"I know what I'm doing better than you do, that's for sure!" I hit his leg and got up, I held my hand out for him to take it. "Let's go." Cody took my hand and we walked some more. After a while we called for a cab and went back to the hotel.
We had just taken our things upstairs when everyone came in. "We've handed our keys over to the desk in the reception." Cody said as soon as they walked through the door. "Good." "Now we're going down to the beach." "No you're not." "Ye-" "Cody." I stopped him before another full blown argument started again.
"Cody, I want to talk to you." Brad and Cody left the apartment, I collapsed onto the couch. "I have the biggest headache." I moaned. "Want some pain killers?" Angie asked, I nodded. "Yes, please. I've had this headache all day and I have no clue why." "Don't think the alcohol has something to do with it?"
"It wasn't that much." "Six bottles." "We drunk the last bottle really fast as well." I remembered. "Oh to be young again." Angie sat on the couch with me. "Did you have a good night?" She asked me, I nodded. "We went to an italian restraunt, Cody spilt his dinner all over him." I laughed as I remembered, Angie laughed too.
"And then we came back and just messed around, Cody got out the drinks and asked me to try one." "You didn't want to?" "Well, I- Uh- I had a bad thing with it. Cody just wanted me to try it so I did, he didn't make me though. Anyway, it was really nice and we just kept drinking them."
"As long as you had fun, that's all that matters to me." "I wish Brad was more like you." I sighed. "Give him time." "He said we can't see eachother!" "He'll give in eventually, and anyway.. He works. Seriously, I would of thought you would of thought of a plan." She let out a small laugh.
"Why me?" "You've never been one to play by the rules." "That's what got us into this mess though." I rolled my eyes. "Just give him some time." I nodded. We watched tv as we were the only ones in the hotel room. "We're going out to dinner tonight with the Thrupps, are you coming?" Angie asked.
"Nah, I'm just going to have an early night." "Are you sure?" "Yeah, I'm fine." "Alright, well I'm going to go and start getting ready, when the boys come back tell them I said to do the same please?" I nodded as Alli, Tom and Jake walked into the room.
"Als, can you go get ready for tonight please? You too Tommy." Angie said as she walked into her bedroom. "Alli told me what went down." Jake said as he sat next to me. "What about it?" I asked with attittude. "I was just going to ask if you were okay but fine." He went to get up.
"No! Jake, I'm sorry." I appologised, he sat back down. "I know, so, how are you?" "Annoyed." "You did kind of ask for it." "Okay, you can go away." I dismissed him. "I was jus-" "I don't care, you've annoyed me. Go see Alli." I pointed to her bedroom, Jake laughed and went to her room.
The apartment door opened again, this time Cody and Brad came in. "Hey, what's up?" Brad greeted me, I flashed a smile. "You two need to go get changed for later." "What's happening?" Cody asked. "You're going to Jake's for dinner." I informed.
"You're not going?" Cody asked, I shook my head. He looked at Brad. "Do I have to go?" He moaned, Brad nodded. "You can't stay here together." "Dad, we're not toddlers. We have self control and can be alone together for a few hours." He tried to reason with him.
"Fine." He sighed and walked into his and Angie's bedroom, Cody sat on the couch with me. "That was easier than I thought." He laughed, I did too. "What do you wanna do tonight?" "Take away and movies." I suggested. "We'll do that then." He kissed my temple.
Half way through our second movie, I got up and took our plates into the kitchen. I put our trash in the trash can and then walked back to the couch. "I'm sorry about today, I feel like it's all my fault." Cody confessed. "It's not, it was me who made you open the other box of drinks."
"I made you take the first sip of it, you didn't want to and I knew you would like it and I knew you would want more. I knew you'd get drunk easily and I knew I could get you into bed. It's my fault." He said. "You only did it to get me into bed?!" I moved away from him on the couch.
"No!" He pulled me closer. "Well at first, yes, that was the aim. But it was fun and I forgot all about that until you were laying on the bed with practically nothing on." "You know, sometimes I think you're different to the average teenage boy. But you're not! You just have one thing on your mind."
"Lauren, you're not listening. I'm tyring to tell you the truth." "I heard you perfectly well." I folded my arms, Cody unfolded them and pushed me so I was laying on my back. He crawled on top of me and hovered over me. "Now you listen to me, Miss Miller." He started, I tried not to giggle.
"I didn't just do it to get you into bed, it was fun and you know it was. We had a good night and the amount we drunk just helped." I giggled at him, a smile appeared on his face. "Don't mess with me or I'll have to punish you." He pointed his finger at me.
I tried to bite it but he moved it out the way and kissed me. "Hey, I got an idea." He got up, I stayed where I was. "Get up!" He pulled me up. "Go put some clothes on." "I have clothes on." I said unimpressed. "Go put a bikini and a dress on."
"But it's like ten o'clock." I stated. "Lauren.." Cody moaned, I laughed and did as he said. "I'm dressed." I strutted into the living room. "Let's go." He grabbed my hand and a key on the way out of the room. We walked down to the beach.
"Your dad is going to freak out when they get back and we're not there." I said. "Just shut up." "No." "I thought you weren't scared of anything?" "I thought you said shut up." I pushed him playfully and ran towards the ocean. I took my dress off and threw it on the floor just before I ran into the water.
I swam out into the ocean, I know Cody was following me but I didn't stop. He pulled my leg and I went underwater. "You can't run that easy." He said as he held me, I wrapped myself around him. "I can." I leaned my forehead on his.
"I don't think you can." He kissed my lips. "I been thinking." I started. "Whatcha been thinking about?" "Well, I'll do the music video." "If?" Cody assumed, I laughed. "If you sort everything out with your dad." "That's not fair!" "You have one week." I smiled. "That's really not fair."
"I think you better get to work," I kissed along his jawline. "Don't you?" I teased him. I began to leave wet kisses on his neck and his shoulders. "Baby.." Cody moaned quietly, I smirked. "You're really mean." He groaned. I could feel him growing in his swimming shorts.
"Alright, let's go now." I let go of him and started swimming back to the sand, I knew he would follow so I swam as fast as possible. I grabbed my dress and ran back to the hotel. I looked behind me to see Cody coming towards me, I screamed and ran through the lobby.
As soon as I got into the elevator I put my dress over my wet bikini and waited to get to the top floor. I ran into the hotel room. "Why the rush?" Alli asked. "I might of-" "Gotcha!" Cody grabbed me from behind and span me around which made me scream. "Shh!" Angie shushed us.
"Tommy's asleep." She explained. "Sorry." We said at the same time, I laughed. "Alright, I'm going to bed now." I kissed Cody's cheek and walked into mine and Alli's bedroom. I decided to have a quick shower and then I got into bed.
