Here is our beautiful Kaylaya!!

——————————-

The drive to the station seemed like it took forever. All I wanted to do is just cry, I sound so pathetic.

I just don't understand why he's acting like that, couldn't get anything though to him. He doesn't even see what he's doing wrong.

When I did get into town there were two guards there waiting for me, I got out of the car, throwing my hood on before walking to the train.

It was quiet which I appreciated, the only people on here were myself, two maids and two cooks but I won't see them unless I really want to.

Perfect time to sit and think about my messy life.

Now I wasn't even tired, so I settle with laying on the couch turning on the large flat screen TV grabbing the fuzzy blanket that's in it's basket throwing it over myself. The first whiff I smell is Cato's cologne lingering on the fabric.

Tears swell in my eyes as I bury my face in the blanket. I cry until I can't no more. Better to just let it out now then later when I should be focused on the kids. I take a deep breath, focusing on the TV. I watched some fashion show before drifting off to sleep.

Some time in the night I woke up, I was comfy but I know I'll get a better sleep if I was in my own bed. I'll be needing it, though it wasn't to much use All I did was twist and turn.

I was so used to sleeping by Cato.

I take a big sigh before getting out of bed going into his room. This cologne hit my nose making me relax, I crawl into his bed, is this healthy? No..but I just need a good night sleep and it's not like he'll know.

I lay in the bed, bunching pillows up to make a make shift person for me to lay by, finally drifting off to a good sleep.

I wake up to the light trying to get through the blinds. When the train moves, the blinds move just enough for me to feel the light hitting me.

I look over at the time, reading 10:37 AM.

I wonder what's doing through Cato's mind right now. He's got to know by now I'm gone, someone will tell him eventually where I am, I bet cameras will be in 12 since this is an once in a lifetime event.

I sigh sitting myself in the bed. I better get up for today, we'll be there tomorrow sometime so today I just need to decide how I want to come across to 12 and what I need to do.

I have no idea what to even do.

I get up, making the bed before going in my room to take a shower. I just stand there letting the warm water trail down my body. I wash myself as slowly as possible, I have nothing else to do today, no tight schedules to follow which was so annoying but weird being on here not following any.

I finally decide to get out, getting a pre warmed towel from out of the small warmer by the shower wrapping myself in it before going out back to my room.

I throw on a large hoodie and spandex calling it my outfit for the day, no one to impress here.

I went and ate, watched Tv, took a nap, ate watched Tv until it was late again.

I decided to just ask questions, be real with them. See what I can come up with, I mean I can't be as ad as that Haymitch dude.

All he did was drink, from what I heard the most you'd get out of him was a congratulations and mockery.

You'd think he'd want his kids to win, I wouldn't want to see all of them die. But, that man won by pure luck.

When I bring them home, we'll feed them good, make them gain, do basic training, have them watch the others and hope nothing comes from that.

Both of them have potential. Especially the girl, she had the fire and resentment that she can use to take others out in the game, The boy coming from the poorest district where everyone is underfed having that little bit of natural mass is promising.

Though I had hope it slowly faded as I realized who my district is. I have no idea how they're going to react to them. They know who the tributes are, plenty of time to learn everything about them which can be fatal.

They'll know how to kill them, while 12 will need to try to figure them out in a span of 2 weeks.

I also worry about Cato. I know he'll be mad about me leaving, he's mad about whatever we are now, no doubt he'll take it out on me by making this difficult until we get all that figured out.

I was put in worry again, any confidence I had that these kids would be ok drained out just like that.

I fell back to sleep for the night, even though it was restless the sleep I did have before should make up for it.

Again I woke up, this time I didn't bother making my bed. I might be spending a lot of time in here on the way back, I have no idea how much these kids will want to talk to me.

Again I took a shower, this time faster, we were to arrive at 10, right now it's 9:20, I tie my hair in a slick pony calling it good.

I jumped out drying myself off before looking in the always filled closet. I had a feeling that cameras would be there, I mean I guess it' a big day for them so I need to look presentable.

I pulled out a sweater, and some black jeans and crop finding some boots to match.

I felt the train jolt to a stop, I quickly threw the clothes on not having enough time for makeup, but apparently thats a look so I go for it.

I walk out, from one of the small windows I see some fancy multi-colored people, my gut feeling was right. The familiarity came back to me, I took a deep breath. " Ready." I mumbled to myself reassuringly.

I put the brightest smile I could get on my face before opening the door. Luckily there were only 5, so it wasn't terrible. The district was dead, everyone else were already in the mines.

The sour smell came into my nose, it took all I could not to cringe at it. As soon as I stepped on the ground they were practically running towards me, shoving into each other to as me their burning questions.

" How are you?"

" Looking great!"

" How do you feel about today?"

I smile though it was so fake, " Great, exited to meet my new tributes."

" What are your tactics? What will you being doing with the tributes."

I smile, drawing my finger up slowly, almost seductively winking.

" Spicy! I LOVE IT! Where's Cato?!" Another asks.

I felt like a stab to the heart, I just laughed " Well Someone needs to train out other prospects! I think I can handle these two."

Peace keepers pull the news reporters away, other leading me to the victors village. This is where they are staying? I've decided I'll stay just for a hour or so before returning. Plenty of time to talk on the train.

They lead me to one of the further houses, knocking on the house door, their victors village looks like our slum houses.

The door opens to reveal an older women, her eyes were red I'm assuming from crying. I small ping of pain touches my heart, I'm pulling them away from their families.

" Hello." She says tiredly, trying to give a warm welcome.

I smile, " Good Morning." She steps aside inviting me in, the guards stay outside which I personally don't mind, we can talk freely then.

The boy and girl were in the living room muttering to eachother. Once they see me walk in they shut up looking at me.

The boy was just looking but the girl was hardcore glaring, hatred coming out of her eyes.

" Hello." I say softly looking between the two of them.

" Hi." The boy said quietly watching me intently.

The girl glanced at him then back at me but didn't say anything.

I look over them, they look better in person. A lot bigger then what I thought, good size to throw around.

I can't help but smirk. " I see you guys are very promising."

I decide to sit down in a chair across from them, they still watch me I don't think they were even blinking.

" I just want to get straight into it, but I'm Kaylaya. Though you probably already knew that, I just want the facts to see where we can start."

The boy nods, the girl stays quiet still just looking.

" And that's going to require you to talk." I say looking at the girl.

" I'm not going to talk to a brainwashed serial killer." She snaps.

She thinks I'm brainwashed.

The boy glances over to her, then me. I lift my brows slightly, running my tongue over my teeth. " I'm far from brainwashed. What's your name?"

She leans forward just a bit narrowing her eyes," You don't know your own tributes names?"

I also lean forward staring intently making her lean back." I've never met you, I just watched the reaping. It was brave what you did for that little girl, I greatly admire that, you are already winning sponsors."

" Glad to hear it." she said sarcastically.

I had a feeling this was going to be how she was going to act. I can understand the bitterness, this isn't the best situation.

" Her name is Evangeline, I'm Fero." The boy pipes in. She looks over at the boy unamused.

I nod, " Ok, Evangeline. Have you hunted before? Good in school, what you I need to know about you?"

She picks at some on her dead skin on her thumb," I only volunteered so she could live a little bit longer. 12 year olds shouldn't go in there." She muttered.

" But you knew her?" I asked.

She stayed quiet.

" Yes she did." Fero confirmed.

" So much for keeping to ourselves." She mutters bitterly looking over at him.

" Do you want to live or not?" He says back. " She just won this thing less then a year ago, not to mention everyone loves her. We need her, I personally don't want to die yet." His tome was bitter talking to Evangeline.

I could hear the anger he was hiding to terribly well.

Evangeline sat there for a second before clearing her throat. " I can hunt, though I'm no jay. I sell to our market."

I nod slowly, " What do you hunt with?"

" Small axes. Cut the small games heads clear off, better for cleaning anyways."

" That's good... you can kill from far, good start."

" And she was always good in school." Fero blurts. " We're the same class. I am to."

She glares at him before going back to look at her hands.

" What about you?" I say to Fero.

" He's hunted before. A couple kids, we all have a hunting group. He spears larger game." Evangeline said.

Fero smiles a little bit.

" Well I'm glad I have ones with potential."

" I wouldn't give your hopes up." Evangeline blurted getting up, making her way into the kitchen where the old women was.

I look at her confused, I don't think I did anything to offend her.

I look at Fero for answers but he stares back at me just as confused. "Who was that little girl she volunteered for?" I ask quietly.

" She used to baby sit for her, their family treated her well. She doesn't have a great home life so they were like the family she never had."

I nod. She has nothing to live for, all this anger and fraustration she's had for a long time, I'll need to use that to her advantage and others.

" Well, is there anything else I should know about you?"

He thinks, " My parents own the feed mill here so I guess I can lift heavier things. Other than that..no."

I smile, " That's better than nothing, like I said it's a good start."I stand up, " How do you feel we leave? Get you settled in at two then we can start training for this thing."

It seemed the terror came back, he tries to swallow it seeming calm but I know he's nervous. " Yea. Yea, I am. I said good bye to everyone already. I'll get Evie."

" Ok. Did she say goodbye to everyone."

He turns slightly to me, " She did, she said goodbye to the girl and her family." With that he went to go find her.

They come back soon after, her eyes were slightly red, I saw tear stains on Fero's shirt but I try not to notice.

The older women was in the kitchen knitting, "We're going." I announce.

She nods, tears appearing in her eyes. Both of the kids hug her, she whispered something into their ears, they nod before letting go.

We walk out, the cold air hitting out faces making their faces turn red.

We walk to the train, luckily the cameras were gone so they didn't need to deal with them, I know this is overwhelming for both of them.

We board the train, instantly their eyes wander around in amazement. I couldn't help but smile as I talked " You guys can pick any rooms down the hall there, go take a shower, take as long as you need then meet back in here to eat. What do you guys like to eat? I can put in a recommendation?"

" We don't eat victor food." Evangeline retorts giving me a dumb look.

" Then I guess they'll make it for you a selection." I say back hiding my annoyance with a smile, I'm getting sick of this attitude. Especially when I'm trying to be nice.

Fero looks between the two of us before leading Evangeline down the hall.

I watch before the door closes behind them leaving me alone with my thoughts again. I plop on the couch letting out a huge sigh.

Now that I have the kids I need to somehow tell them what they need to do, mention Cato, how 2 will be, what NOT to do plus everything that will come up as we go.

Fero Mosinee

Evangeline Marcos

After a hour or so they both come back out, all showered, their hair looks a shade lighter, shinier. Their skin looks clean, they both had freckles I didn't notice before.

They were now in fresh comfier clothes, they looked relaxed but also so tense at the same time.

" How are you guys feeling?" I ask.

" Fine." Evangeline said eyeing the table.

Fero agrees, the cook brought out the tortilini soon after, we sat around the table, they scarfed it all up diving in for seconds.

I didn't realize a person could be so hungry. I also didn't live in one of the poorest districts. I try to make it look like it wasn't a big deal.

I let them finish eating before I said anything. Once they were done I decided to talk. " We'll be back I'd say later tomorrow."

" Ok." Fero nodded, Evie didn't say anything, again just looking at me wearily.

" I think we just need to go through some things before we get there. Just in case." I blurt, though I straighten up a little bit folding my hands.

They both look up at me, full attention. " Seeing this is the first time something like this had happened, I just want you guys to be careful."

" Careful?" Fero asks.

I nod, " Yea, with 2. I don't know exactly how they'll react. So I would just keep to yourselves for a couple days."

"Yea, because we wanted to be here." Evie spat.

" I'm just saying." I say plainly giving her a look.

She scoffed rolling her eyes.

I continue " Anyways...Cato. He's your other mentor..kinda. But at the moment we're not exactly good so, if he acts.. Like an ass it probably has something to do with me, not you guys. I'll handle him."

I know he's going to be mad. Yelling will probably come but I don't want anything taken out on the kids.

" So avoid him." Evie says still looking at her plate.

" I'd answer if he asks you a question. He can be intense, but I won't let anything happen to you."

" Ok, got it." Fero says again nodding, taking everything I'm saying into close consideration.

I sigh, " And lastly, Everything we discussed- strong suits- keep secret. I don't want our other tributes to figure you out yet. It can be a weakness."

" Great, so we are destined to die." Evie scoffs.

" That's not what-"

" Yes. It is exactly what your saying. We've been on this train for what? Two hours, and we have things already we need to watch out for. Things that yes, can get us killed or hurt..or whatever." She blurts hitting the table.

" I'd chill out." I warn.

She smiles sarcastically " Why."

" Because that explosive behavior is going to get you in trouble."

She looks at me with a wild grin, " How, kill me? Someone is going to attack me, by all means... I'm dead anyways." She seethes.

" That's not true."

" Yes it is! You don't understand, you get to train, you know many ways to kill, while we can barely hunt animals without getting whipped. Your favored, that's why you win."

" Our lives have nothing to do how we win in the arena."

" How does it not? You know how to use every weapon, and know hundreds of ways to kill. You guys just have rose colored glasses that you can't realize how good you actually have it!"

" I didn't go to the academy."

She furrows her brows. " Then how did you learn all that?"

" My father, and Zane Hadley. They trained me."

She laughs, " See? Trained. I think everyone was heard those names! That's better then anyone can get! Your to blind to see it!"

I clench my jaw. " Well, no you two will be getting trained, so I guess your no better."

She smiles slightly, " We're not like you."

I don't know why that made me mad, but it did. I ball my hands into fists hitting the table, " You know, You two should be really happy I'm here! I didn't need to come get you, I could've waited until the games, but I want you to live. If you don't want to be like me, stay on the train when we arrive at two. I'll see you at the games."

They stayed silent. I sigh. " I'm going to bed."

I went in my room for the rest of the day, falling asleep napping on and off.

I was so exhausted, tired from the trip, the kids already, and the stress from Cato. I was so much so I didn't wake up until 11 the next morning.

I got up quickly going to see id the others were up. They were fortunately, they both look to see who was emerging from the hall.

" Dang I thought you died..bummer." Evie said so casually.

I rolled my eyes, sitting down having a banana.

" Me and Evie want to apologize." Fero blurted.

I look over at the two of them," For what?" I asked my mouth full.

Fero straightens, " Your our mentor, and we realize we are lucky to have you wanting to train us and inviting us into your district. We took what you said yesterday into consideration. And we're sorry for our attitudes."

I take a moment smiling at Fero, he's very polite and proper, not to mention selfless from apologizing for Evie.

I shrug," Don't apologize. I just don't want lose anyone to the games if I can help it."

" We remember watching you." Evie said this time plainly.

I nod in her direction. It's memories I'd rather try to forget.

An avox came in the room, handing me a note before scampering away.

Arrival: 3:30 p.m

" We'll be arriving pretty soon. Lesson 1: Cameras. They'll be everywhere, The Capitol will use anything for entertainment, so they'll be using you two for as long as they can. They'll ask personal questions be vague and even if it bothers you never show it. Always happy. Dress nice." I'm more serious now, "It's not just the Capitol and cameras we need to impress."

They go get dressed and I do the same, rummaging through the closet for some clothes.

I told them to meet in the main part once we were all ready.

I walk out and notice we are all wearing black, I couldn't help but laugh. " Ohhh everyone is going to love this."
