It's GAME TIME

We get woken up by Enobaria and... Cato?

" Here's the day we've been all waiting for, let's see what your really made of sweetheart." Cato says. He looks down at the two of us. " It took you the last night of safety for you two to finally..."

" We didn't." Aspen says getting up.

" Really? Bummer..." Cato says following us out.

I shoot him a look before going to y room to get changed.

Enobaria comes in shortly after, " Here." She stuffs some sort of bar in my hands. " Eat this quick. It's an army bar, the Capitol gives these to soldiers who won't have a lot of nutrition for an extended amount of time.. taste gross but it should keep you through your the games."

I eat it quickly trying to ignore the oily taste.

" You should be set for the majority of the games."

" How did you get your hands on that?"

Enobaria smirks, " Our escourt isn't useless."

Neffy.. I've never loved her more.

They give me the outfit we're required to wear. Black shirt, jacket, fleece lined pants. One of the stylists come in putting my hair in a pony, using multiple rubber bands to make little bulbs in my pony tail.

I walk out trying to take in as much as the room as I can walking out, I might miss this place. We get to the aircraft, I was one of the first ones there so they get me all checked in.

" Say your final goodbyes." One of the guards said.

We both nod looking at eachother. She was the first one to hug me, " Please listen to what Cato said ok? You and Aspen stick together, fight vigorously. I'm counting on you."

I hug her back, " Thank you for everything."

She nods before letting me go. " Play dirty if need be, you got this."

She turned walking out of the hover craft back to the car that brought us.

A Peacekeeper comes up to me, " Arm."

I give it to him hesitantly, he grabs it bringing it closer to him stabbing me with a needle, something flashed in my arm.

" What is that?"

" Your tracker."

I nod.

He walks back to his station standing there until another tribute comes.

Cato and Aspen come, Both look tense but Aspen seems to ease up when he sees me.

" Ready?" Aspen asks.

" Yup."

" This is going to be fun." He says.

" Indeed."

Cato chuckles, " Stay alive."

He looks over to me, " Impress me Musak."

" I will Hadley."

" Make good choices, try not to be killed. I don't feel like attending your funeral, pretending to care. My father will kill me if I don't came back with you so for both of our sakes..don't be dumb."

" Thanks for the pep talk." I say sarcastically.

He looks at Aspen once more nodding before walking out.

I chuckle.

" What?" Aspen asks.

" Nothing."

" Tell me." He demands.

" He is just really hard to figure out."

" Why do you want to figure him out?" Aspen asks.

I shrug, " Dunno. I guess it was better when we barely knew each other right?"

" Maybe, or maybe after this, he'll be civil. We'll be neighbors with him."

" Can't wait." I say sarcasticly.

Tributes came at a steady pace, all getting their trackers, we all sit and stare at eachother, We're all nervous.

" Buckle Up!" A Peace keeper yelled.

We all do so, I focus on my breathing and face expressions, I try to look as calm as possible.

The lights flicker, the hovercraft shifting-it jolts to life scaring everyone. I grab onto the arm rest next to me accidentally grabbing Aspen.

" Oh, sorry." I mumble.'

He takes a breath nodding in my direction.

We're off.

The ride took about a half hour, we landed by a big building a dome towering over it.

I squint trying to see the terrain but it was no use, the purple shimmer covered it.

Peacekeepers escort all of us int different directions. I grab Aspen quickly. " See you in there."

He nods.

I also glance at my other team, giving them a nod which they all return.

My peacekeeper leads me to a room, when he opened it, Elsie was there waiting.

" Hi." She says.

" Hi." I return.

I just stood and looked at her she did the same, finally she pulls me into a hug. " You need to be careful Kay. They're making it well known your the one to beat, I wouldn't even trust your own team, not even River. He could easily be putting on an act to."

" I know, I'll try my hardest Elsie."

She nods quickly. " Here, you can take one token in the arena, I got this for you."

She hands me a small black knife, it was closed, when I open it it's double bladed.I look at it in wonder, " Thank you."

" Try to kill the girls first, once they're all out they'll come and get you."

I didn't know once you're the last gender your out, that's the plan then to get the rest out. No, I can't I need to make sure Aspen gets out.

" Thank you Elsie."

10 seconds till launch.

" You got this Kay." She says again, giving me a smile.

I stepped in the tube, I feel like a rat for an experiment, feeling trapped. I take a breath, just get some weapons and food then it's smooth sailing from there.

Elsie gives me a nod, I smile back.

It starts lifting up, I was dressed in heavier clothes, jacket cargo pants, wool lined material and gloves I'm guessing we will need a fire to keep warm.

I smell saltiness of an ocean, I look around to see cold mountains and slight dust of snow on the ground, but luckily it's not cold it must just be cold at night. The blood bath is on a taller hill we might need to climb or run up, I guess we will see when we get closer. There's a lot of supplies way more then normal.

I look around to see if I can see anybody. Luckily my team is pretty much all around me, we all look at eachother and nod. Grab as much as I can...kill, the faster we kill the faster I can get out.

And protect Aspen, but play River and everyone else.

I look at the timer, my heart dropped when I saw the time 3...2..1...

BOOM

Welcome to the Games.

I take one deep breath as the sound rings, let's do this.

I jump off the pedestal and sprint as fast as I could. I was one of the first ones there. There were empty bags all around, I grab two, finding knives and a holster first.

Now I need a bow.

I see something from the corner of my eye, it was a boy from 3 looking at my with a small sword in his hand, I take one of the knives throwing it in his chest.

BOOM.

I grab all the knives stuffing them and the holster in the bag anything I see I grab. Another tribute, girl from 5 coming at me, she swings an axe running at me, I duck tripping her. She kills herself with her axe.

How graceful. I look at her and scoff, Idiot. I see a ow more in the cornucopia I run grabbing it with all the arrows.

When I run back out I see Brutus smashing someone's head in, Mel was fighting another girl. The other girl was winning, Brutus had to leave his victim to go help, I see whoever it was had a bag, I ran and grabbed that when I lifted it up it seemed heavy.

1 must've left their bag, when Brutus was killing the tribute so I grabbed his also running.

Though i wanted to grab more I had my hands full. I still need to fight of need be, with all the weapons an whatever else was in the bags it was throwing ff my balance a bit.

I see Colin and Lilli running so I run that direction.

Someone grabs my arm, I take the knife Elsie gave me pulling it out stabbing it into his arm.

Brutus yelled in pain.

" You BITCH!" He screams.

My heart was pumping, I knew better to fight him so I continue to run.

As I run I see kids all over eachother fighting, I hear cannons left and right it seemed.

" Kaylaya!"

Colin,Lilli and Aspen were waving their arms, I see River and Prim fighting the tributes from 8.

Both were fast but sloppy, as River and Prim were good just not as fast.

" we need to go!" Colin says looking around at the others filtering out. RIght now we were just standing ducks.

I throw off my bags grabbing more knives," It'll only take a second."

" I'll help." Aspen says taking the sword he has.

I take Prims first, I see prim push her, I threw it just at the right time so she falls right into the knife.BOOM!

" GO!" I yell to Prim.

River was still fighting the boy, Aspen goes behind him slashing his back.

He turns around, River taking his trident impaling him.

" Grab his bag!" I yell at River before I turn around. I see some left over swords and decide to go grab one.

I look aorund quickly ro make sure there were no one else lingering. I think we're good.

The team runs up to me also sweeping the arena, I walk slowly by the opening of the cornucopia.

A girl from 9 I think jumps out, She butted me with the end of her curved sword making my nose bleed.

Though now she sees who she just hit. Her face paled as she looks between all of us. " I'll-" River says. He was going to advance on her but I swung my sword infront of him.

" Oh, no. She's mine."

She has no where to go. We surround the opening so the only way she could go was back.

" No! No! I'm sorry!" She screams.

I stay quiet. I look at my knife then at her.

" No.."I say to myself as I set it down. " Drop your sword And I might consider letting you go.. just this one time 9.."

She drops it instantly.. It's the games. Maybe if she did a favor I'd consider but now I have a nose bleed.

I smile as I feel the warm blood ooze down my nose. I take one more step, crashing my fist with her face.

I think I broke her nose.

" Awe.. now we're matching."

I kick her in the stomach making her roll. I quickly turn grabbing Aspen's sword stabbing her.

Cannon.

" Let's go." I say handing him back the sword. I wipe my nose though it didn't help much.

" Man you really went crazy." Colin said catching up to me.

" I know it was such a blur. I saw someone and I whipped a knife. I also got Brutus in the arm so he should be occupied with that."

Normally the career group takes the cornucopia, it's basic. All the other tributes know that's where we'll stay. The careers never venture far from there.

It's a disadvantage.

Then they never really know the arena. Everyone thinks we're there. But actually we're wondering also, killing. And if they're smart they won't go to the cornucopia anymore, fearing we are in fact there.

It's a win- win.

We find some high ground and a cave for all of us to see what we all had while staying covered so no one would see us.

As it began to get dark, the temerpature changed dramatically making it cold. in 3 of the bags there were heat reflecting blankets so we all huddeled close wrapping the blankets around us.

Aspen opened the blanket mentioning me over to come sit by him in the blanket.

" Kay I have room over here." River said smirking at me.

Kill me.

Whoever I choose there will be drama. We don't need a break in the alliance already.

" I think the girls will stick together." I say giving a smile. I take one of the blankets sitting in between the two girls wrapping it around us.

Aspen and River didn't look amused but I guess I'd rather have them mad at me then each other.

" Do you guys see that?" Colin said standing up. " We should go hunting."

I stand up walking over to the edge where he was now standing.

Fire.

" It could be a mock fire or someone is really that stupid. Let the other tributes deal with it, all of them will attract and that's how to mass murder."

Colin looks down at me, " Did we ever mention how lucky we are you be on your side? Your a literal genius."

I chuckle still looking at the fire down below, " Come away from the edge. If someone is down there they'll see us if they look long enough."

We walk but to the small cave and as soon as we sit down we hear screaming and a cannon.

I give Colin a look, which he returns. Good thing we didn't go hunting.

" Stay close to a weapon, whoever just hit might come up for some cover." Prim says holding a trident.

Sure enough,the girl and boy from 10 came climbing up about 50 feet away. " I got these two" Lilli says as she sneaks out of the cave, Colin went with her for back up, they both went behind and plunged their axes into the 2. Both cannons went off. 13 dead 11 left at this rate we might be done by tomorrow.

" This might be over soon.' Aspen says looking a bit worried.

" Once a couple more die the Game makers will wanna make us go together. So how bout we go to them first? It's safer and I want the element of surprise." I say

We all agreed in the morning we will hunt. It will give everyone entertainment.

Night fall didn't fall yet so we all say around talking about life in out districts.

" What's seven like?" Prim asks.

They tell us it's warm, I mean it is in the lower and warmer part of Panem, they say there's these trees That are absolutely huge, a train goes through one of them on a trail. I guess It's called a red oak or something like that.

" How about 4?" I ask, I know they are like semi careers depending on the year and there's a lot of fish stuff but thats pretty much all I know.

" Well you smell of fish all the time, if you have a job it probably has something to do with fish." Prim says.

" And it always seems gloomy, no matter what, and there's like a slime always probably because of all the fish. It's kinda crowded but if your wealthier or a victor you live up on a hill where you can actually breathe fresh air." River comments.

I smile at River, " Did you live in Finnick's house on the hill? Or did you have a job or anything like that?" I tried to sound as interested and flirtatious as possible.

He smirks, " We all lived with Finnick once he won. He trained me since I could remember, just in case I got to be here." He says proudly.

I just smile and nod, like I'm just some stupid Cato obsessed girl or something. But River thinks it's cute, he just gives me his smile, just like Finnick's obviously enjoying the attention.

" What about you 2? How's the luxury life?" Colin says in a snarky way I couldn't tell if it was to be funny or not.

" Well, first that's where your wrong we do have a slum area but it's small, no matter social status you train at the academy or are supposed to. If you have a higher skill you can get out of it." Aspen remarks.

Lilli looked at me," We heard Cato call you a 'techy' is that your terms for people like that?"

I laugh shaking my head, ' No that's Cato just being a dick , I am very good with medical and tech things to along with fighting. My mother is one of the head doctors I help her."

" What did you ever do for Cato to not like you?" Prim asks picking her nails. Does she not realize we're on national TV?

I wish I could give her a look, she knows what she's doing.

Aspen sits up looking between the two of us, he face was blank but his eyes held-possibly anger- at Prim and her bluntness.

I shrug " I don't know. I think it's just the competition, Our fathers are close though me and Cato never were. They always compared us so I think it's just learned resentment but.. Once you get to know him.. he's not...bad."

Everyone was looking at me wide eyed, probably surprised I said all that.

I don't want to imagine the face Cato is giving me, that's the nicest thing I've said about him.

" I'm tired so I think I'm going to sleep." I say quickly.

" I'll take first watch." Prim says moving to the front of the cave.

" I'll watch with you. It'd be better to watch in two's" River said. Prim gave him a look but didn't say anything.

" Me and Kaylaya will take the next." Aspen volunteered.

River looked between the two of us nodding.

There was tension.

I crawled by Aspen, taking the blanket draping it over us.

" They're talking about us." Aspen whispered.

I nodded.

" We need to leave."

" I'll think of something."

" Ok."

Though I was hesitant at first, I fell asleep the last thing I want is to be killed in my sleep, or Aspen.

I think we'll split up very soon, possibly tomorrow. A;ready there's tension and I don't trust 4.. I don't trust Prim.

Her attitude was very... different it seemed then it was the last time we talked.

Maybe we can convince 7 to come with us..no that's problematic.

We abandon the other and go, we can do it.

No, to many yet.

I sighed, unsure what to do.

I feel Aspen pull me a little closer. He must be up too.

I need to sleep on it. It's only the first night. They'll want longer. We have at least tonight to sleep safely.

Couple hours later, Prim is shaking me awake. "Your turn." She says grabbing our blanket.

River was already wrapped in his own, on his side sleeping already.

Aspen stands up offering his hand so I could stand. We walk to the edge looking out. The stars were shining brightly giving some light illuminating the arena.

" Have you-" He started.

" Keep on lookout."

I give him a warning look that he got, thankfully. They could be pretending to sleep, already on to us.

We sat in most silence, just looking around.

" What was said when you and Cato.." Aspen trailed off. " You don't need to tell me , i know.." He looked up an around, it's recorded. people might be listening.

Cato will be listening.

And for his pride's sake.

I trace the stone, the coolness running up my arm covering it in goosebumps. " I found out we're a lot more similar then me and him both thought."

Aspen nodded. " Oh."

I chuckled. " It explains a lot." I smile thinking about Cato watching, rolling his eyes or saying a sly remark.

Aspen also laughed.

" I'm happy you gave me another chance." He says.

" I know, best friend ever."

He smiles, " Yea..you are."

We stare at eachother, I didn't realize he got closer leaning in.

" Aspen.."

He stops, " Sorry I-"

" It's ok. Just not right now, not here."

" Oh, yea, yea."

The sun was just rising. " It's pretty isn't it?" I couldn't help but shiver. He puts his arm around me watching.

" I think We should get Colin and Lilli up."

"Yea, I have a feeling today is going to be a long day."

" I'll go get them up." I say.

Aspen stays and wait until I wake them, grabbing their blanket for us to sleep with.

We eventually all fall asleep, and when I wake up it seems a lot warmer, thankfully. The sun was out and you could see and clear view of the arena all around. I sit near the edge but not near enough for anyone to spot me.

" Where do you think they would be?" I look back to see Colin coming to sit by me.

" I really don't know. That's what I'm trying to figure out, I slashed Brutus's arm, so I guess he can still walk good but can't climb. The others, no idea."

" So the plan is?" He asks.

" The plan is, we should stay on the mountain so we can look down at any one who might be close."

We both turn to see River, he was taking off his jacket tying it around his waist.

" And if we see them?" Lilli says coming over, " How would we get to them if we're up here and they're down there?"

" I got my bow, or two run down while the others watch. Make sure there's no one else coming."

" We also need to hunt. To keep out bodies strong, I'm starting to get hungry." Lilli says.

I skim my tongue on my teeth, I'm not even remotely hungry thanks to the oily bar we were given. And I feel great. But I know Enobaria will still want us to eat, to have that extra strength.

" Well, let's now waste any more time."

I walk in the cave waking up Prim and Aspen. "Come on, we're moving."

We all pack up. Go on the mountain walking on a narrow trail.

I hope we find someone, Hopefully One.
