It's ranking time

" You wouldn't pick him over me... would you." HE says after a little bit.

I look at him, " What?"

" Answer the question." He states.

I look at him, blinking a couple times. " I don't like Cato." I say hushed. " Why does everyone think that?"

Aspen's face went from being a little disappointed from being amused. " Someone else said that to you?"

I sigh, " Yea, River and Enobaria. I wass even on the main stream that one day-"

" - The main stream?!" Aspen gawks.

" Yes. Apparently a lot of people think that."

Aspen looked at me speechless.

" I know, it's embarrassing." I mumble.

He chuckles, " Kaylaya...."

" Kaylaya Musak!" A lady with a clip board said. It was my turn, here we go.

I get up but before I can leave Aspen takes my hand. " Don't mess up."

" Never have. Never will. And... I would pick you. I'll always pick you." I give him one final squeee before letting go walking in the room with the lady.

They remodeled the training center so it's way more cleared out. All the smaller stations for survival were gone. I see the simulation room.

I'll do the simulation.

" Kaylaya what a pleasure!" One of them said. I smile " Pleasure is all mine sir, I'm greatful to be in all your presence."

" You have 10 minutes to perform to the best of your ability good luck." Another one says.

" Will you guys be able to see me if I do the simulation room."

They all look interested, I see some nod. I smile "Perfect."

I jog to the simulation, putting it on.

I grab a smaller carbon sword, knives and a couple large daggers.

I can see them clearly, I see some come down to see me better while others gather up top.

Here we go.

The lights dim.

I take a breath.

I hear A slicing sound, I roll out of the way chucking a knife. It hit the stomach of the first simulation.

I hear thudding behind me, I turn to see another one running with the sword above them.

They were to close to use knives..sword it is. I moved quickly to the side slicing it.

I see two come running at me.. that's new. I threw a knife at one, hitting it's leg. It gave me just enough time to stab the other one.

I take my sword hitting the second in the head.

I see one running above me on a ledge, trident in hand. I take another knife throwing it but he dodged it jumping off the ledge towards me.

I grabbed my sword impaling him on the way down.

The lights brightened again.

I see them all clapping giving great smiles.

Then I hear the same thudding sound, I turned quickly to see another simulation. One that was built just like Cato with a large spear, which was already moving towards me.

I barely missed it throwing a knife killing the simulation.

Now I realize all the lights were now on.

That would've been a good thing to know.

I get out of the room. " Thank you.. for your consideration."

Then I walk out.

I opened the door leading out to the area, everyone just looked at me. I look back at them before walking through the room.

As I walked past 4, River grabbed my hand. " What was all the commotion in there? We could all hear it from out here."

"I did the simulation. I couldn't hear anything."

River and Prim glance at eachother.

" Well, good luck I'll see you guys when you get back." I say quickly.

" See you later." River says quietly.

Enobaria takes me back to the room right after she saw me so I couldn't wait to see how any of my team mates did. She was really quiet on the way back. She was pursing her lips and biting her cheek, which normally means she's not happy.

" What's wrong." I say as soon as we get into the room.

" We need to go watch rankings with 1 and our team. The Capitol wants more drama before the games." She mutters, " I'm not even supposed to know that but Neffy warned me."

" Oh, this is going to be fun." I mumbled.

I get washed up I throw on gray joggers and a matching shirt and just comb out my hair and leave it down. We tell Cato and Aspen so they know to behave half way decent.

Soon Enobaria went to get 4 and 7 while I wait with the boys.

There was a knock on the door, Aspen went to do get it, it seemed they all came at the same time.

" Welcome." He says.

There weren't many seats so we all needed to cram in a semi-circle. Nice and cozy.. I know.

" So how's the ex-career?" Mel chimes right away.

" Better then ever how about the career that will die on the first day?" I retort quickly.

" Highly unlikely." Cashmere says shooting a smirk while cuddling next to Cato.

Kill me.

" Once it gets down to the finals, and you guys split, do you really think you will last?" I say to her matching her smile then some, I look back at Mel and she just glares at me not saying anything.

" Oh, gotcha there princess." Lilli says smirking. she looks intimidating I guess I never noticed it before.

" I won't be leaving Mel." Brutus says wrapping his arm around her protectively.

" I can sense a break in this alliance." River says looking at Aspen. He looks mad probably realizing he is in a little bit of a pickle, they probably didn't talk about that.

That's what I was worried about.

" I'm not worried." He says simply. Lie. He needs me.

Cato and Cashmere were all over eachother on the big couch I try not to look but I could feel my cheeks grow red.

" Kay you look cold wanna come here?" River says opening up a blanket he must have grabbed.

" Yea, thanks." I say breathlessly going over to him and laying on him.

He wrapped his arms around me and whispered in my ear, " You looked uncomfortable."

I just nodded my head and looked ahead on the Tv. I could feel everyone's gaze looking at us but I just focused on the channel.

" So, when did you and stream become official?" Cato said slightly sitting up, he looked mad he was glaring at us.

" Not to long ago." River said plainly.

" How is she?" Cato said eyebrows raised.

" Wouldn't you like to know." River chuckled getting a glare from Cato.

I was just about to say something when Caesar Flashed on the screen.

" Welcome! Thanks for tuning in for this years rankings! We have many skilled kids this year, let's get right into it."

" Mel Hammons: 8" Bruts and cashmere cheered she looked at me with a grin.

" Brutus Halbach: 10" they did the same he just smiled down at his hands.

" Starting with high scores! Now, we have the fan favorites district 2! Caesar said excitedly flashing a smile."

" Aspen Ferg:10"

Aspen looked at me with a look that I think was supposed to be imitating but I just rolled my eyes.

" And our truest love, envied beauty of the Capitol Kaylaya Musak"

" Awe I'm a favorite." I say in sweet voice everyone just rolled their eyes or chuckled.

" Let's see how far that training got you." Cato remarks looking at me with a smart smile.

Let's see.

I feel nerves, the looked impressed. Hopefully I did enough, I wasn't being fancy I just wanted to kill the simulations.

" With a.." Cesar said, he looked off screen mouthing if that was right. You could faintly her someone say it was. Did I do really bad? I thought I did good.

" With an honorable mention and 11!" He gasped excitedly and clapping his hands. "This girl is on fire! Be careful People of Panem this girl has skill and will kill you with a GEORGEOUS smile on her face!"

I was shocked that was the highest score I think ever! River hugged me and gave me a kiss, Enobaria gave me a good job squeeze on the shoulder along with congratulations from my team and their mentors. The careers were livid.

I looked at Cato, who was already glaring. I smiled brightly. " I think it worked really well."

He glared at me while he laid back a bit looking back at the Tv.

Speechless, that's what I thought.

" Of course she get's the highest score. The capitol probably gave her extra points just for being the favorite." Mel mumbles.

" Or I'm just that good." I state smartly.

" Good or just cocky?" Cashmere pipes in.

I give her a look, she really thinks she can talk to me? " Well I mean, I learned from the best." I mentioned towards Cato.

I guess Cato's and Zane's attitude rubbed off on me.

I wonder what his dad is thinking about this whole situation, or even my parents along with everyone in 2.

" What did you do?" Aspen asked looking in shock. " I don't think anyone has scored that high."

I glance at him then to everyone else in the room. Why couldn't he ask me this when we're not bugged?

" I..Um. I did the simulation. I know I'm good at it."

" And district 4!"

Prim and river both got 10's, while Colin and Lilli both got 9's the lowest score was a 7 so I guess all of us underestimated everyone because on thing is sure,

Everyone wants to go home.
