3- I just wanna know you
03:17, 8 March 2016She is staring into a pair of green eyes that she has definitely seen before. She knows who they belong to. Taylor brings one hand up to pull the hood off the woman's head.
"K- Kar- Karlie?" She stutters, her eyes opened wide.
The green eyed woman smiles at Taylor's reaction. "So you remember me?" She says calmly while walking over to the couch.
"Why didn't you tell me it was you?" The blonde singer asks angrily while following her.
"And that would've made this all different because?" Karlie asks while sitting down on the couch and turning the tv on.
"Because.." Taylor starts while standing in front of the other woman, blocking her view from the tv. "Because then I would've known who you were. And that you wouldn't fucking kill me." She hisses.
"Oh yeah, you know me. You know me so well after one drunk night with me together where we barely spoke with each other." Karlie says, looking up at Taylor now since she cant see the tv from where she's sitting, since the fuming popstar is standing in front of her. The woman Taylor had met in the bar the night before isn't talking to her in a way she remembers her. Not at all.
"Well.. maybe it would've made me feel.. safer.. or something." Taylor says, mumbling the last bit.
"And why is that?" Karlie asks, raising an eyebrow while grinning at the singer. Taylor huffs in response and walks away from the annoying green eyed woman. She sure seemed nicer in that club. Maybe it was just the alcohol after all.
"Where do you think you're going?" Karlie asks, amusement present in her voice.
Taylor stands at the front door then and is about to open it. "None of your fucking business."
"Yeah no. You cant go." Karlie says, a serious look on her face as she gets up from the couch. She's wearing a black sweater with some grey leggings underneath it. She reaches into the pocket of her sweater and Taylor looks at her in shock.
"Not.. not the gun please.. please don't shoot me.." She says, panicing already, raising both hands up in the air. Karlie laughs again. "I was going to give you this." She says, getting Taylors cat stickers covered phone out of the sweater and showing it to the superstar. "In that way you can let your family and friends know that you're safe."
"Well.. am I even safe?" Taylor asks quickly, speaking her thoughts out loud.
"With me you are." Karlie says, walking over to the front door too and giving Taylor the phone. The blonde looks at the green eyed girl with a confused look on her face. "You cant tell them where you are though." She says as she turns around and walks over to the couch again.
"T- thanks." Taylor mumbles, mesmerised by those green eyes. 'Gosh Taylor, she kidnapped you. She could be some kinda psychopath for all you know.' She thinks to herself as she shakes her head a little and types her password into her phone. She types a message to her mom first bus doesn't know what to put in there exactly.
"Just tell them you're okay. Nothing else." Karlie says, watching Taylor from the couch. "They probably already noticed all those poisoned guards around your house anyway. They probably know you're not just on some kind of vacation trip."
Taylor shoots a look at Karlie. "Did you poison them?" She asks, her voice trembling slightly as she talks.
"Who? Those guards, no. They did." Karlie replies simply, shrugging her shoulders as she is now watching some kinda cooking program on tv. 'Why does this girl act like this whole situation is the most normal one in the world?' Taylor thinks to her self. She focusses on the phone and types a message to her mom.
"Hi mom. You're probably worried about me but I just wanna let you know that Im okay. Im safe. Love you."
She decides to keep it simple since she knows her family well, she knows they're gonna worry anyway. She shoots Selena a quick text too, saying she's okay and asking if she can take care of the cats. Very important in situations like this. When she's done with her texts, she sees that Karlie is looking at her.
"Can you hand me the phone?" The green eyed woman asks politely.
"Why would I?" Taylor replies annoyedly.
"Come on.." Karlie sighs. "Don't let me take it from you."
"Fine." Taylor hisses, walking over to the couch and throwing the phone beside Karlie.
She sits down on the couch too, all the way on the other end though, not wanting any contact with the woman she thought she knew at least a bit. She pulls her knees towards her and tries to come up with a reason why she would be here.
"Why am I here? Why did you kidnap me?" She asks, looking at Karlie with her eyebrows furrowed.
"I didn't kidnap you. Don't be silly." Karlie says, a smile on her face as she talks.
Taylor scoffs at her. "You did. Im not here because I want to be."
"Well, go home then." Karlie says, not even looking at Taylor but just staring at the tv screen.
"Fine." Taylor says, getting up from the couch and walking towards that front door again.
"Car keys are in my boots in the bathroom, oh and take you're phone too." Karlie says easily. "That way you can call me when you're bleeding to death."
Taylor was already on her way to the bathroom but stops dead in her tracks. "Bleed to.. death?" She mumbles, looking over at Karlie.
"You're here for a reason, miss Swift." Karlie says, finally looking at the blonde woman.
"Why would they want me dead? Who wants me dead?" Taylor asks quickly, making her way over to the couch again and looking at Karlie with big eyes. "And who are you then? Why did you take me?"
Karlie looks at the blonde with a serious yet sad face. "Taylor, Im really sorry but I cant tell you any of that."
"Well at least tell me who you are then." The singer sighs, plopping down on the couch again exactly on the place where she sat about a minute ago.
"Im Karlie, you know that." Karlie says, looking into Taylor's sad eyes.
"Yeah duh. Quit the mystery. Tell me more than only your name." Taylor says annoyedly. She don't know what she is feeling. Sadness, anger, fear, its all running through her body. Also she is confused, very confused. 'Why would someone want to kill me?'
"Im Karlie Kloss and I work for a secret agency that saves people like you. Thats all I can say." Karlie replies, seeing some of the emotions that Taylor is going through and feeling bad for the singer.
"So you did this before?" Taylor asks, still looking at Karlie.
"What?" Karlie asks, confused by the question that is asked.
"Kidnapping people to save them?" Taylor asks, her eyes somehow welling up with tears.
"Yes." Karlie replies shortly, not able to look at the singer as she starts crying and so she focusses on the tv again.
"Well.." Taylor says, a tear making a way down her face. "That makes me feel.. slightly safer I guess."
Karlie looks at Taylor again then who has a small, sad smile on her face. She smiles back at the singer, who's blonde hair is in her face as she looks down at her hands. Normally she would've gone over to the sad girl and hug her. But this is her work and she cant make the same mistake twice.
"Wait." Taylor says then, wiping her tears from her cheeks. "Why were you in 'Blue lagoon' bar that night?"
"I.. We were keeping an eye on you." Karlie replies, still staring at the blonde girl. It had felt so nice when Taylor hugged her when they said goodbye. She even misses that strawberry-like scent Taylor smelled like that night. It cant happen again though, she's doing her job now and her private life and work need to stay separated.
"Oh.." Taylor says. They both stay quiet then and Karlie starts going through some channels. On almost every channel she passes, the singer's face is plastered. "Missing." Taylor says. "Ive always wanted to be on one of those posters." Karlie shoots her a quick look and sees that a small smile is playing on her face she flashes her one too and then quickly goes back to the cooking channel which seems to be the only channel with no Taylor on there.
"Karlie?"
"Hmm?"
"I kinda wanna sleep. But are we safe here?" The singer asks, while looking at the green eyed woman.
"This cabin lays at least 70 miles from any civilisation. Its not visible on any map and it belongs to my agency so.. so yeah I think its pretty safe." Karlie answers looking back at Taylor. "Go ahead and sleep. It has been a long night." She continues. "You can take the bedroom, ill take the couch."
"Okay.." Taylor mumbles while getting up. 'Can I even trust this girl?' She thinks as she makes her way to the bedroom. "Please lock the door and stuff.. yeah?" She says. Karlie nods and smiles at the singer. Taylor smiles back and gets into the bedroom which feels cold and.. and just not like home at all. She plops down on the bed and pulls the covers over her body. It is starting to get light outside and the birds are starting to sing their morning melodies. Taylor lays on her back and stares at the ceiling for a while, wanting to think everything through. She drifts off to sleep sooner than she expected though and dreams about tonight's events instead.
—————————————————————————————
The blonde superstar wakes up because of a few bright sunbeams that are shining in her face. She slowly flutters her eyes open and looks around her. She's in a bedroom with wooden walls, a wooden ceiling and a wooden floor. 'This is not my bedroom?' She thinks as she sits up in bed, awake as she could be now. Then she remembers what happened and were she is. "Oh.." She mumbles while swinging her legs out of the large bed. The floor feels cold underneath her bare feet as she makes her way to presumably the bathroom. She opens the door and steps in, it is indeed the bathroom, she finds out.
The blonde decides to take a shower since she doesn't know what the day will bring yet. She has no idea what time it is but she assumes its around two or three in the afternoon, since the sun is shining so brightly. She washes all of her worries off her, at least she tries. Its a strange thing to know that there are several people wanting her to be dead. Its something the 25 year old singer/songwriter hadn't experienced before. And she could definitely say now, that it wasn't a pleasant feeling.
The blonde walks out of the shower, looking for a clean towel in several wooden drawers. After a while she finally finds one while cursing herself for not thinking about this before getting into the shower. She dries herself and then wraps the white towel tightly around her since she also hadn't thought of getting any clean clothes before getting into the shower. She picks up the pile of dirty laundry and tries another door which she thinks leads to the living room. Its the door that Karlie had walked through earlier, when the two had just entered the cabin.
She was right and walks right into the living room, only wearing that towel around her. She looks if she is covered all the way while she is walking when she bumps into something, or well, someone.
"Oh gosh, Im sorry." The singer says, realising its the green eyed girl, Karlie. She looks right into those captivating eyes then and sees the girl smile at her.
"We always seem to meet each other half naked lately. Well.. you being the half naked one." Karlie says, a big grin on her face as she looks into the blue eyes in front of her. Taylor giggles and feels her cheeks become bright red. "Yeah.." She mumbles. She makes her way around Karlie then and walks to the bags that are now standing next to the couch instead of in the middle of the room.
Taylor hears Karlie giggle one more time before the green eyed girl disappears into the bathroom. The singer somehow smiles widely, surprising when she feels some kind of happy feeling bubbling inside her body. "Clothes Taylor, clothes." She says then, talking to herself once more as she digs through the bag she has packed herself the night before.
She goes for a sweater which has the word 'Genius' written on it and some simple black skinny jeans. She is 'not expecting to see any paparazzi anyway'. She is laughing at her own dry humor in her thoughts when Karlie walks into the room again.
"Whats so funny?" The girl asks.
"Oh.. uhmm I was just thinking." Taylor replies looking at the other woman while she gets up again, making sure the towel is still covering most of her body. "Im.. ehm gonna.. uhmm get dressed.." The blonde mumbles while passing Karlie. She doesn't know why is so nervous around the green eyed woman all the time. Well its probably because of the fact that she kidnapped her and that the blonde knows the green eyed woman wears a gun with her.
"You hungry?" Karlie asks before Taylor can disappear into the bathroom once more.
"Uhmm.. yeah." The blonde mumbles, she turns around and sees that Karlie is smiling at her. 'Shes kinda cute..' She finds herself thinking then. She smiles back and then bumps into something. Its the bathroom door, she forgot to open it. Karlie starts laughing at the surprised look on Taylor's face. "Oh shut up!" Taylor says, but she cant hide the smile on her face as she now opens the door and walks into the bathroom. She hears that the green eyed girl is still giggling when she starts dressing herself. She looks in the mirror after, replies some minimal make-up she brought and brushes her short, blonde hair. 'Maybe today will be better.' She thinks as she brushes her teeth.
About half an hour later, both girls are sitting across from each other at a small table in the kitchen. They're eating the pasta that Karlie had prepared in a silence that Taylor finds awkward. She wants to know more about the girl. Standard things, like her age, she doesn't even know her age.
"How old are you?" She asks after swallowing a bite.
"Wow, random." Karlie says and looks up at the singer.
"I just wanna know standard things. Like things you would've told me.. for example in that bar or something." Taylor explains. "I wanna know you at least a bit if you're going to protect me." She air quotes the words 'protect me' and smiles at the girl.
"Im 23." Karlie answers, ignoring pretty much the rest of what Taylor had said. "You?"
"You already know that. You seem like someone who already knows that." Taylor says drily, taking another bite after.
Karlie laughs at that. "Why would I know your age?" She asks the singer.
"Well.." Taylor starts. "You said that you work for some kinda agency that kidnaps people to safe them-"
"Stop air quoting words please." Karlie laughs.
"Fine." Taylor says, smiling at her. "So if you work in this company, agency thing.. you probably have read reports about the person you're taking with you or something." Taylor explains it like she's an expert on this subject and takes another bite when she is done talking. 'She is a good cook, this pasta is great.' She thinks as Karlie starts talking.
"Okay, so maybe I do know your age. You're 25. I just wanted to show you that im interested." She says.
"Interested in what?" Taylor teases, wiggling her eyebrows. She doesn't even know what she's doing, she doesn't even know this girl.
"In talking with you, Taylor." Karlie replies drily, watching the singer in amusement. "You know, you're the first person that takes this whole kidnapping thing so.. so lightly." She adds.
"Ha." Taylor says, her mouth still full. "If you think im taking all of this shit lightly, you're wrong miss.."
"Kloss. Karlie Kloss."
"Catchy." Taylor answers dryly.
Karlie smiles a sad smile at her. "Im sorry for all of this shit. I know its weird and.. hard and scary probably. I.. Im sorry. Its my job though."
"I know." Taylor says, her slightly good mood completely gone. "What exactly is your job, Karlie?" She asks then, interested in the girl still and why she is the one kidnapping her.
"Did you ever watch any James Bond movies?" The younger girl asks. Taylor nods in silence. "Im kinda like James Bond but then cooler and well, I try to protect more than I kill people."
Taylor looks into her green eyes again. "So you're a spy?"
"Sort of, kinda.." Karlie says, furrowing her eyebrows. "Look, you're going to get angry when you know what I've been up to the last half year."
"Tell me." Taylor says, her plate now empty.
"Sure?"
"Yeah, tell me." She repeats.
"I kinda.. uhhmm I spied on you for like.. like half a year to.. keep you safe." Karlie admits, breaking eye contact and slightly leaning down.
"What?!" Taylor says rather loudly. "And nobody noticed? Not even my guards?"
"Im a spy for a reason." Karlie says, rather proud now, sitting up a bit straighter again.
"Well I spotted you in the bar." Taylor states then. "Good spy you are."
"Yeah.. well but.. you wouldn't even have known I was watching you, if I wouldn't have had to save you that next night." Karlie explains, remembering that night oh so well. It had been wrong helping the blonde singer. She wasn't allowed to even be friends with her clients.. but Taylor.. she just needed to help her that night and Karlie was there, watching her like some kinda creep anyway. Sometimes Karlie hated her job but also loved it.
She loves the action, but she hates the emotional part that comes with it. Plus she misses her social life, she doesn't really have one since she is always with the person she is protecting. It was exhausting but yet she keeps on doing it because she just loves helping and protecting people. And she's good at it, at least thats what her bosses tell her. She has been told that she is one of the best ones of the crew. In the field, but also when she's undercover. She does love her job, apart from the social part. Thats just hard for her.
"True." Taylor says, not really wanting to continue this conversation. She finds it terrifying and.. weird that this girl had spied on her for half a year and that no one had ever spotted her. "So where are you from?" She asks, changing the subject. It was time to talk about something else, something not work related for either girls. Just girls talking together like friends would do.
"Huh, what?" Karlie asks, confused by the sudden subject change.
"Where were you born, where did you grow up, where does your family live? Where are you from?" Taylor says, staring at the girl in front of her. She remembers finding it hard to not look at her when she was so drunk that night, but now it was just as hard.
"I.. I actually cant tell you because-" Karlie starts.
"Karlie, come on im trying to have a normal conversation with you. Like normal people do. Please lets just not think of you being some creepy spy and me being the oh so famous Taylor Swift okay?"
"Okay.." Karlie replies, unsure if she wants this. She never really talks to people outside of the agency and if she talks to the people she protects, its work related or important stuff. This is strange for her. "Uhmm im from Saint-Louis." She says, her insecurity shining through her voice a bit.
"Cool. Im from Nashville, kinda. Well, I moved there at a young age." Taylor says easily, trying to make conversation with this girl. "Do you have any siblings?"
"I have three sisters." Karlie says. It stays quiet then as she is thinking of what else to add. "Oh.. and you?"
Taylor smiles, finding this new, shy Karlie cute somehow. Even though she knows she finds the other version of her cute too. 'Come on Taylor. She literally kidnapped you and now you're trying to be friends with her?' She thinks as she replies "Yeah, I have one brother. His name is Austin."
"Cool."
It stays quiet then, Taylor starts playing with her fingers as she looks down. Karlie gets up from her chair then and starts cleaning the table. Both women seem to find the situation rather awkward. "Oh, Ill help." Taylor says while getting up too. She gets her plate and her half empty glass and puts it in the sink. Karlie starts doing the dishes as Taylor brings all the stuff from the dinner table, back to where it belongs. "How long will we stay here?" Taylor asks.
"A few days still, and then we will drive somewhere else." Karlie says, focussing on the dishes and not looking at Taylor. She feels awkward. She doesn't want to become to close with the girl. She had made that mistake before. It always ends in a bad way. Karlie always ends up being hurt.
"Where will we go?" Taylor asks, already knowing that she probably wont get an answer.
"Ill let you know later." Karlie says.
Taylor sighs and walks out of the kitchens and into the living room.
—————————————————————————-
The next day the blonde singer wakes up because of a strange sound she hears. She immediately sits up and looks around her in the darkness. "Karlie?" She asks. "Is that you?" Her voice sounds stressed and tired. The bathroom door opens and a big part of the bedroom is now lit by the bright bathroom-light. "Its me. Calm down, its okay. I just flushed the toilet, sorry." Karlie says, sheepishly scratching the back of her neck.
"Oh.." Taylor says, laying down into the bed again. "What time is it?" She asks.
"2am." Karlie says. Taylor now notices that the woman's voice is filled with sleep. "Were you sleeping in the guest room?" She asks the younger girl.
"There is no guest room." Karlie says, a smile on her face now. Taylor can barely see the girl's features since she isn't wearing her glasses nor contacts. "I slept on the couch."
"Oh." Taylor says again, sleep once more taking over as she pulls the covers over her and closes her eyes. "Sorry about that." She mumbles.
The tall girl in the bathroom door opening smiles widely and turns around to walk back towards the living room. "Its fine. Sleep well." She says, closing the bathroom door and returning to her not so comfortable sleeping place.
"You too." She hears the singer mumble and she smiles, finding the singer extremely cute without any makeup on and with her sleepy eyes. 'You have to stop thinking like that, Karlie.' She thinks to herself as she crawls on the couch again.
—————————————————————————————————-
Taylor opens her eyes when sunlight beams through the room.
"Good morning." A voice says. Its a voice she recognises now, after being in an apartment with her kidnapper for four days now.
"Morning." The singer replies. "What are you doing in my room?"
"Your room huh?" Karlie says, smiling.
"Well.. kinda." The singer says, sitting up and getting her glasses from the nightstand. The room turns sharp then and so does the green eyed woman that is leaning against the doorframe. "Were leaving tonight." She says. "So you will have to leave your room." Taylor studies Karlie's face. She came to the conclusion that she finds the woman extremely beautiful and starts grinning from ear to ear. Of course Taylor had already thought that exact same thing when she was in that bar with her. But now things changed, she came to know the girl a little bit over the days. Only a little though, and Taylor is trying her hardest to change that. The green eyed girl smiles too. "Awesome." Taylor says. "Care to tell me where were going?"
Karlie turns her back to Taylor then and walks into the living room. The singer then notices the green eyed woman is only wearing an oversized shirt with some underwear underneath it. "Yes. Away from here." Karlie says, looking over her shoulder and smirking at the blonde, who swallows hard.
"You're so tiring." The singer says a few seconds later, getting out of the bed and following the woman into the living room.
"Ive been told." The woman replies sassily.
"Oh yeah?" Taylor asks, following the woman into the kitchen. "By who then?" She smiles and looks into the green eyes which had grown a little more familiair over the past few days.
"Sassy much?" Karlie replies, opening the fridge. Taylor sits down at the kitchen table and watches the woman move around in the kitchen, preparing breakfast for the both of them. "Toast, I assume?"
"Yes please, miss protector." The blonde says, smiling at the tall woman.
"Oh god, stop calling me that please." Karlie says, smiling back at the blue eyed singer however. "Tadaa.. breakfast." She puts a plate with two toasts on the table, which Taylor gladly takes. She had learned to trust her kidnapper a bit by now. They have talked a bit in the days that have past and they have gotten to know each other a bit. For example, Taylor had learned that Karlie is a great cook and that she loves everything that has to do with cooking and baking. They had spent the night before, watching several cooking programs until after a long time of Taylor begging, the tv was switched to a crime show.
"So whats up for today then?" Taylor asks Karlie, who is sitting down across of her.
"Well, I was thinking. More tv shows?" Karlie replies, smiling as she takes a bite of her cereal.
"I was actually thinking checking some emails, writing some music and face timing with my business partners but oh well, since we have no wifi or any internet connection here, tv shows will do. As long as its not again that boring cooking show we had on yesterday." Taylor states drily. Making Karlie laugh louder than Taylor had ever heard the girl laugh. It makes her laugh together with her while she looks at the beautiful girl's green eyes. 'Taylor stop.' The singer thinks as she keeps on staring into those eyes of hers.
"I heard theres a 'criminal minds' marathon on channel 4." Karlie says then, after their laughter has died.
"Oh I definitely know what we will do today then." The blonde says then, smiling at the green eyed girl.
"We do have to pack before we leave tonight though. We leave at 6." Karlie says, suddenly serious. Taylor has noticed that Karlie's mood can suddenly change from 100% happy and funny to 100% serious.
"Okay." Taylor replies. Not liking these changes in her mood. It makes her wonder which version of Karlie is the real one. The laughing and smiling one, or the serious, on the job focussed one.
"Sorry." The green eyed girl mumbles suddenly, breaking the blonde's thoughts.
"What? huh?" Taylor asks, not getting what she means with her apology.
"Sorry for all of this.. shit. Sorry for kidnapping you and letting you sit here in uncertainty. I know you're scared and sad and angry and whatever.." The younger girl mumbles. "Im just.. im sorry."
"Its okay." Taylor says to the worrying girl in front of her. "Its your job."
She sighs. "I know.. but sometimes I wish it wasn't and I wish I would've just met you in that bar and that we could just.. I.. uuhm.. I don't know.. that we could just be friends.. or something." The girl says, struggling with her words.
"I know." Taylor says. "Me too. We can still be.. friends though.. I guess."
"Yeah its just.. difficult to keep private and work apart then. You know?" Karlie replies, her face sad.
"I.. I know." The blonde says then. The conversation ends there as both women finish their breakfast and start cleaning the dishes. Taylor wonders what it would be like if the two of them just would've met in that bar by coincidence. Would they've become.. friends or.. or maybe even more than that? Taylor shrugs the thoughts off her, knowing her way of thinking is pretty ridiculous. All she knows at the moment is that she could have had a far worse kidnapper than Karlie.
